Over the last few days the brightness of the screen has dropped so I now have difficulty reading the screen.
The brightness is set at auto but even set at maximum without auto it is still hard to read.
It has been fine up until the last few days.
Any ideas please, I dont want to do a hard reset unless I have to, I wondered if it was the sensor blocked?
The other problem at the moment is the weather screen shows United Kingdom werever I am, it does not pick up local, again it was fine until a few days ago.......

i had the same problem last week when i installed one of the custom ROM. It went away after i recovered from my nandroid backup. you may try to clear cache and try reboot to see if the problem disappear. if not, then you may try to restore it from your backup.

I'm having an annoying problem where the screen is too dim to read comfortably at night. I started thinking that there was something about the settings that was refusing to remember my brightness setting, but then I realized that it only happens at night. If I wake up the watch it is set to a brightness of 1 which I find hard to read. I go into the settings using double-double tap and set the brightness back up, but it will immediately reset it to 1 the next time the watch wakes up.
Is there any way to turn off this "automatic night time dim mode"?
I don't think the Gear 2 has an automatic dimming mode, at least I've never heard of it. Maybe reset your watch and start over again, or it could be defective.

In fact my biggest gripe is the lack of a light sensor controlling brightness. I roll over at night and am blinded when the motion turns it on.
You're right, it has persisted through today as well. Grrr... I'll try a reset...
Way too bright. Never remembers my preferences. Every time I turn in the screen, even in a dark room, brightness us 50%. I'm constantly turning it down but it goes back up.
How can I fix this? I refuse to believe my only option is a third party brightness app.
-EDIT- Here's the solve:
Just go to apps>settings>applications>application manager>more>reset apps preferences. This clears out any personalized brightness settings. This worked immediately.
Well turn auto brightness off.

You know that's not a solution...
Yes that is, you set the brightness the level you want, manually.

No. I want auto brightness to adjust to the ambient light. That's the point of auto brightness. 50% brightness in a movie theatre means something isn't working right. And the S7 auto brightness is supposed to be personalized to the user but obviously this isn't working either.
Mine is working just fine in any ambient, I don't know what settings you mess up with.

I don't know! users are prone to do such a thing when they mess up with their phone.
Make a backup, reset your phone and try again. Mine still works just fine.
alright, smart alecs. Just talked to Samsung Support. Just simply go to apps>settings>applications>application manager>more>reset apps preferences. This seemed to fix it. The tech said sometimes carrier updates can corrupt settings. So that's neat...

I don't understand what you're saying. I didn't mess up any settings because there are none for me to mess up. But thanks for the help?

Every time you install an app on your phone they change something. Some times are nothing important, other times they mess with the whole system settings.
Glad your settings are working now.
Actually i had the same problem when i got the phone, did a bit of search n found it has a smart brightness feature.
You have to choose ur brightness level according to the ambient light in the room cuz it remembers each time you set the brightness level according how much light the sensor is picking.
Short answer, keep changing the level of brightness for couple days until it learns the new levels.

Ya I did all of that and it wasn't adjusting to my preferences. That's was the problem. Resetting as described fixed it as it relearned my preferences

When I'm outdoor in extreme sunlight the phone's brightness goes all the way up and then it enters a mode where colours seems washed out. But only if the light is very strong. Does your S7 behave the same?
I may have to give that app settings reset a try. At first the auto function seemed fine. As time passed it grew worse. However, mine would be too dark in dimly lit situations and semi-acceptable in bright conditions. I finally turned off automatic as it was extremely annoying and almost always incorrect.

Yes. That's a special boost mode I think. Without it the screen wouldn't get bright enough to see well.
My AOD clock has displayed the incorrect time a couple of times over the last few days. Im taking hours out. Unlocking the phone does auto reset this but seems odd why is goes out of sync with the system time. Also my moto 360 watch has started doing the same. Wrong time untill I unlock my s8+ then refreshes. Anyone seen this before?
never this has happened to me
try clearing cache of aod
I have Nite Mode enabled & use the default on/off criterion of Sunset & Sunrise.
For the past two mornings, unlike previously, I have turned on my fone (abt 8:30am) to be surprised that apparently the Nite Mode S/W doesn't know how to tell time. Yesterday I just clicked the "Turn off" button in the notif bar. Today it happened again; & I left it to see what would happen. Nite Mode remained 'on' until about 10:15 or so - when it turned off, apparently spontaneously. I did reboot on both days to no avail.
Bootloader is still locked, so fone is not rooted.
Could it be that I locked the phone w/a Pattern to get to use the Fingerprint Feature? understand that a number of things won't take place if the fone is off & locked; still it shouldn't take > 2hrs for the Nite Mode S/W to 'see' the right time... It seems to go into Nite Mode very nicely on it's own when sunset time comes around…
Anyone else have this prob? Any ideas what may have caused it? Sprint Tech Experts had no immediate answer, & are looking into it. Got the phone June 27… TIA, oldwolf

Check your time zones or something....is your time set automatically or manually? What what time zone are you in the first place (no to get too personal...)?
@AarSyl, it doesn't matter, I haven't changed timezones I've been in ever since I activated the fone… 6/27… & it happened only the last two days; since I locked my phone w/Pattern to beable to use Fingerprint feature… I have get auto time from network provided time, & auto time zone fm network provioed time. I haven't left my home boro…

I have one on Verizon activated last Saturday. Im not 100% sure but I think it worked as expected for a day or two but then... The "sunset and sunrise" are two time zones (hours) off. Which coincidentally is the time zone of the area code of my phone number. The OOTB text message app, and some other texting apps, also show text sent time stamps in the time zone of my number, even when I send a text from the time zone I live in. Everything else on the phone seems to know the correct time zone as the phone is set to get it from the network. Including the text time received stamp. Its odd.
@anon2017, left phone off Fri aftnoon to Sat nite (a brief respite) & well pst sunset turned it back on, & it read Sunset time just fine & booted into nite mode - now to see if it properly reads sunrise Sun morn… I recently took the June security patch for my Sprint U11; so maybe that'll fix my orig issue… or I might just turn off Auto Get Time Zone fm Network, or turn off nite mode & leave auto brightness adjustments… Keep me posted pls on your results… BTW, I fell asleep this past Thu. w/out turning off fone & it switched off nite mode as expected.
So maybe h/w default behavior affects this- many things don'tork when fone is locked &I'm using Kaspersky Full which affects lock insofar as I no longer get "Your phone is encrypted- which makes me happy- bc a nasty thief could purposely go past30 bad passwords & cause my fone to be Factory Reset. Talk abt loss…
Well, it seems that taking the June security update has solved, @ least for this morning's boot-up, my prob w/nite mode staying on in the morning (nothing else has been changed).
Earlier this a.m., at the beginning of the boot process, my wallpaper seemed a bit dark immediately on startup; which wasn't making me feel like the problem was solved- however, upon completing the boot process, there was no moon icon in my notification bar & the wallpaper picture was as bright as usual!
Let's see if this will be consistent.
*Update* 7/11/17 8:11:14 seems the boot time may have something to do w/whether or not Nite Mode is turned off on bootup. I turned on fone around 6something & Nite Mode was still on… used notif par settings to turn it off & rebooted & it was now off… ?
Two days in a row- Nite mode goes off on its own…
Third day no luck; beginning to think it depends on when I boot fone…
Awesome
Hi, I am currently on bit of a witchhunt with my V10 (H960A, running V30C-EUR-XX). For some reason the standby drain on this phone, which I bought used 2 years ago, is extremely high - about 60% in 12h. At the same time the on screen time is quite good with high brightness while watching videos I get around 6h SoT. Really bizzare.
One thing I noticed which is really strange is that when I change the display timeout in the settings to for example to "15 minutes" and I reboot the phone it always resets to the default setting which is "2 minutes".
So I would be really be thankful if someone could try this on their V10 and post the results.
Also I tried every trick in the book with this battery issue, from resetting the phone multiple times to running it in safe mode or flashing the Software with LG UP. Nothing yielded results. My theory is that something with the settings is messed up and keeps the phone in a "running" state while the screen is off.
