Gallery using a lot of data? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why does the gallery use so much data?mines has used almost 100mb since ics update, does anybody know why?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App

Hmm, don't really have a clue, but I'm using QuickPic, I disabled the built-in gallery completely.

Yeah the stock 3d gallery app is crap and sucks data. You can use root explorer to delete it then grab quikpic from the market.
Not as fancy as the stock, but great none-the-less.

You probably have the google+ app set to do automatic uploads, go into settings in the G+ app to deactivate this.

No I have upload disabled... I'm not into sharing every pic I take...

Well, you don't really need to delete it, just disable it in the apps if you are using ICS.

I can't stop the programs from turning on every 30 mins?
Some people have had good success with a Android Market program called Autostarts. I am thinking about trying it. It is a $1.
If you try it, please post back your results. I want to know if it only works for programs or if you can control individual processes.
See its keeping my phone awake
I think most of those need to be running in backround for the phone to function properly. If its a user app and you dont use it often just uninstall it or freeze it with TB. Task killers dont work and will just result in the app restarting itself.

The problem is that none of them works with temple run. What happened to the stock touchwiz capture by home+menu?

Taken with DDMS. The bad part is that anything that involves the running is too quick for the DDMS screenshot utility to capture. If you know what screen tearing is, that's what it looks like.

I think they are looking for a app to use from the phone.
I suggest contacting the dev and tell them what you are trying to do. Maybe they will include the ability to take screenshots from within the game or possibly fix what is blocking the other apps from working.

Which app or widget is this?

I'm trying to find which app or widget this is. Per the screen shot its the lower left where you can drag multiple apps into to avoid clutter. I'd like to add it to my other home screens but can't seem to find the widget for it. The name just says Google but I can't find the app to place additional instances of it.

lol nvm its Google +.

That is part of the launcher feature. I use Nova and have this option.
Thanks. I actually added Google + and until you drag apps into it, it doesn't have the circular pattern around it so it didn't appear to be the correct app but it actually is. Pretty cool for those wanting to keep the home screen clean

If you use a launcher such as apex (probably nova too), you can drop apps on top of each other to make a folder. In the launcher settings it will even give you the option to change the look of it. Has nothing to do with Google+.

What rom are you on? Have you tried cleaning gallery apps data & cache?
To clean app data/cache: Settings/Apps/All/Gallery

Sprint app removal

Okay, so I installed the Sprint Zone app because I actually use it and find it functional. However, with the latest update it also installed sprint fun & games. Something I don't want. I searched for the file using root explored and also checked the system app file and data app file. I can't find it anywhere to rename it bak. Anyone have any luck finding it?

After I saw this thread yesterday I looked around for it too. Seems they are linked somehow, but this is what I saw under app info, at the very bottom.
Both are the same app you need to uninstall the update

I went a head and uninstalled the update. After I did that the app forced closed and wouldnt function properly. The only way to get it to work as before was to update it. I went through the app file and found the fun and games and seen the launch was set to 1. I wonder if changing that to 0 would mess with the Sprint Zone app? Now I just need to find an editor.
