I've been searching around to see if anyone else is experiencing this but it doesn't seem like it. I'm coming from a vibrant, and all the animations + menu scrolling just seem a heck of a lot snappier on the vibrant. I'm guessing it's most likely because of the Sense crap but I just wanted some closure. Also, installing a custom non sense rom should make it better right?!

Also turning off the stock animations make sense smoother IMO but users may vary.
menu-settings-display-animation-(I have some animations are shown).
Awesome, that definitely helped a bit!

Hi,
You are right about the Sense crap, and there is probably also the bloatware all seeming to hold it back.
Installing a custom ROM will improve this, and then there are kernels designed to reduce the lag even further.

I wouldn't accept it. Sense has no lag on mine so either your carrier borks the ROM they install on their sensations or there's a hardware issue.
Compare it with others from the same carrier.

I have T-Mobile and it's filled with a heck of a lot of bloatware.
All i can say is i am extremly happy with it. i am coming from the moto atrix, which was horrible. it was worse then my mytouch 4g. the difference is like night and day, even with less RAM.
there is something i want to know though. the bar at the bottom of the homescreen isnt exactly "smooth". i posted a pic, you cant tell much on it since it is blurry. not really much of a problem, just weird

sorry for late reply, and yes it is very stable i havent had one force close. its also much faster and looks better than the stock ROM. you should try it out, make sure you download the TMOUS tweaks thats on the site where you download the ROM from. if you have the US version that is.

There are 3 most Stable ROMs that I have come accross without any issues..
1) Insert Coin 3.4.4 by baadnewz
2) HyperNonSense v7 by kristofpetho
3) Sensation 2.08.401.1 | Stock Rooted Rom by EddyOS..
Remaining all I found buggy, battery drainers or unstable..

hi jebinio. There is no correct answer to that question.
It's like asking - "Who's mother is better? A's or B's ?" The correct answer is different for A and for B.
When faced with such questions, do not start a new thread. Flash both the ROMs and see for yourself. You're not buying a car, it's a ROM flash...easily undone. And they're both free!!
P.S. : I'm not trying to flame you or anything... it's just that both these ROMs are well established ROMs by respectable developers, and both enjoy their own fan following. So you'll obviously get answers in favor of each. The only unbiased opinion will be your own.
Plus, i believe these kind of comparisons pit one ROM against the other, and i don't know about you (and others here), but i don't like that. This is not a contest, there are no prizes being given out. Use both and stick to the one you like.
Peace.

Yes I agree, I have tried both ROMs and have settled with Affinity for now purely on the fact that I got better GPS performance with it. However now that I have flashed the AGPS/GPS patch via CWM, It still runs brilliant if not better and so I may pop back to Endymion and try it with the patch also.
Endymion has more customisations...AT THE MOMENT but Virtuous Affinity is a fantastic Rom also, so really its personal preference completely. They are both updated in good time (Affinity development has started up again after a break) and they both will continues to get updates for quite some time im sure. So definitely flash both and give each a good run for what you'll want most from them
Then decide for yourself.
Roms shouldn't get pitted against one another, just praised for their own perks and dedication of the devs behind them.
Android is all about personal preference, and I love it!

According to HTC, the Desire HD is confirmed to get an official ICS OTA! As we all know, the DHD and MT4G have nearly identical hardware and ROMs are very easy to port between the two. The stock DHD ICS ROM would make a perfect (read: fully functional) base for the MT4G. Assuming we still have decent devs in a few months, we should have a very nice ICS ROM.

As far as specs, yes. Historically speaking, DHD ROMs do still have to be ported to an extent. However, I would expect a fully working camera will be extremely easy with a DHD dump as a base.

I saw that, but isn't that complete crap? Just seems highly unlikely to me. My bet is HTC doesn't consider it worth it, because the myTouch series of phones has that ugly TMO-customized version of Sense. So they'd put a lot of work in customizing that UI to work on ICS for only two phones, one of which is nearing a year and a half old. I just don't see it happening.

that's what I say to everyone:
without sense is not an htc!....is just another phone, like others...only who have an htc deserves sense!...
I understood sense after months...is so elegant, so beautiful, useful, you got everything under your finger...fast, veeery smooth, more than all other launchers, and very stable...
social integration, widgets, animation...everything STOCK!...
yesterday I tried ordroid....I think that roms are not enough stable, even if BT is the only bug...but is awesome, very very nice feel and look...is much better than 3.6, but the launcher is a bit laggy
about sense 4.0
I used Ordroid 1.72 sense 4.0, i really like it but my battery is ending to fast, i have the newest firmware, like 12 hours and i need to recharge again, anyone knows why ?
Think Ordroid is Most stabile out there and baads IC. Besids Bt, everything is fine, But i prefer 3.6, more smooth

Which Sense 4 ROM has the best battery life? I keep switching between Sense 3.6

To add to this, a bunch of non-HTC users can't all be wrong. I have a number of friends with various other brands of phone, and whatever other good points they might like about their phone, the one thing they most often comment on is how much they like the look and feel of Sense compared to whatever is on their phone.
Yes personal preference is fine, yes Sense is not going to be 100% perfect, but I'll take 90% over 70% any day. Who knows, maybe HTC users are a bit spoilt?

i myself definitely think that's the case...i tried no-sense and AOSP because everyone on these boards constantly complains about how slow/delayed/retarded Sense is, one member even telling me i was lying to myself and to others...though i did in fact notice a difference, in actuality it amounted to about a half second delay's difference

It's not so much the speed for me, but the visual lag. on AOSP-senseless my framerate is a constant 60 FPS, which is good, really smooth. On Sense 3.6, 4.0, whatever, I've dipped to 15 FPS before. Like, the homescreen is decently smooth but my Music Queue is ridiculously laggy.
On a sidenote, straight up AOSP is no faster than Senseless, I don't care what anyone says.

I've run a couple of different launchers on Sense ROMs and they are just that...different. They can be faster, and the ability to customise more (transition animations and the like) is a plus, but if you crank all the settings up and choose the most complex animations you are bound to create some lag. My first thought on using a new launcher was "wow this is so much smoother and faster" but once I started delving into all the different options I realised quite a few of those things are default and unchangeable on Sense whilst the custom launchers come a bit more 'stripped back'.
I'm currently using GO Launcher but not because I didn't like Sense, and GO Launcher has been fun but it's certainly presented its own issues. I'm actually considering going back to Sense for a while.
