Database Info

[Q] Defaults not being saved

I'm not sure where I'm supposed to be posting this, but I figured this was the best for now.
I have a Samsung Epic 4G. I'm running the CleanGB ROM v1.1.2 with the 2.6.35.7-CleanGB-g6d33744 kernel.
Recently, after I updated to those versions my default settings haven't been saving. Like when I try to open a link from a text message it asks which browser I would like to use to open the link. I click "Use by default for this action" check box, but if I reboot it will ask again.
Any idea what the problem could be or what I can do to fix it?

Thats great! I want to try to make this ROM as stock as possible, so that everyone can add their favorite themes on top of it. But the thing is making it universal as possible for everyone. Thanks again for the feedback.

Hey Raider, excellent job! I must say, this is the first ICS ROM I have used where EVERYTHING works perfectly, and I have more or less tried them all! No issues whatsoever. And, mad props for including the SuperCharger. The "last" ROM I was on had major BusyBox issues and it would not install. Also, it may be an optical illusion, but it seems that the notification bar is just a wee bit larger, which is great for seeing the tiny print up top. 2 small suggestions, if I may: for us T Mobile folks, you may want to include the link for the Auto Rotate Hotfix (I did not want to post it myself, on your thread, but it is a must for us T989 users). And, I do recall on previous ROMs that there was something possibly called "Quick Panel Settings" (?) in the app drawer whereby you could choose which functions you wanted to show in the dropdown. Not a big deal, just a little more convenient. Thanks again!

nand locked skyrocket
I got a nand locked skyrocket where /system is just a read-only file system. Would I be able to flash this ROM? I'm currently on the SAMSUNG Leaked ICS but with all bloated apps on there.
Anyone with instructions on how to install this rom on my device?

i actually couldn't root due to kept running into read-only file system. i was able to flashed clockworkmod via odin, but can't touch /system

So you flashed this version of superuser after Flashing CWM via odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565126 correct?
Also If so, what was the error code given in CWM? Also the TouchCWM is available, link is provided in the OP, works better.

yes, i followed the instructions to put clockworkmod on the phone, but when tried to install from sdcard Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip it just failed with the aborted message below:

is your SIM 3G or 4G and are you on the AT&T network?
I got a 3G SIM, so it didn't work for me.
What I did, added wap.cingular and using [email protected] account and use that instead.
haven't tried to use 4G yet, because I got unlimited but afraid I could lose it with AT&T if i call them up and switch my data to 4G. As of right now i'm okay with just the hspa+
try that and select your wap.cingular as default network and see if that works out for you.

Ah I c. I got the same error when doing it the first time. You have to keep retrying until it goes thru mine took 5 times before it finally went thru the installaion...

Any permanent fix soon for the softkeyboard? It resets when the phone is resetted. And gapps cm10 is needed correct? And is there going to be a fix for auto rotate when you open the keyboard without having to have auto rotate on?

Where i can download the gapps?

ok this is just my initial release. i have a few bug fixes up sleeve that i have not tried yet. so i should be able to fix auto rotation and keyboard. for gapps just use the ones from cm10 thread or any gapps made for JB i personally use a 4.2 varient

I flashed after I had the ROM flashed. But if you haven't flashed ROM already you probably could flash when doing ROM and gapps. Optional: all that is in the fix is a framework-res.apk. if you replace it in ROM before flashing should be ok also

I'm S-ON. My computer just took a crap... And I usually have no issue fastboot flashing the boot.img but I can't now... But I wanna try this rom I'm on Strappeds paranoid android, can I dirty flash this over it and still retain wifi?

I'm downloading and will be flashing this. Did it say SU didn't work in OP though, so no root? But we don't lose root from flashing this do we? Or does it just mean we have to use Super SU?

Hmmm. Unable to get it to boot on mine. I'm using CWM 5.5.0.4. Do I need to update that? I install your listed packages but just stuck at MIUI screen. I've left it about half an hour or so, Tried rewiping, etc. no go. I have S Off. Is there something I should do differently? Thanks for the port by the way. Always a big fan of MIUI's work

*this is my late night opinion/guess**
If this uses cm10 kernel and modules in theory that could work, as long as the updater-script don't wipe boot partition.

Verizon S7E Root Issues Thread (with fixes)

Thread for INITIAL ROOT ISSUES on the Verizon S7E
Let's get a compilation of issues and fixes all in one nice area. Please add your replies below and I will try to include them here when I can.
Most issues can be resolved with the zip file at the bottom of this post
1. WiFi credentials not saving or connecting after reboots:
Perm fix: Download a build prop editor app and edit this field --- ro.securestorage.support=true to ro.securestorage.support=false
2. Searching for service:
Temp fix: Start a phone call to anybody and it will kickstart your service
Perm fix: Some users have reported that wiping and reinstalling PE1 and re-rooting works, sometimes.
3. MMS not sending/receiving:
Temp fix: turn off WiFi and it will work temporarily
Perm fix: See ZIP file below!
Notes: Also check that you haven't accidentally disabled or frozen IMS Service or IMS Settings or MmsService
4. Weird RCS Service or VoLTE Service icons that appear on the device after rooting:
Perm fix: See x3demond3x fix here
5. Laggy performance:
Perm fix: Download and install a CPU governor app such as No Frills CPU Control and set the governor to OnDemand or Interactive. Experiment with this at your own risk, some settings will work better than others.
6. Xposed not installing:
Fix: Use this custom Xposed from this post
Link to download if post gets deleted
7. Issues with ADB:
Fix: Make sure you have ADB properly installed. This guide will help you install ADB and drivers easily.
8. Bricked your phone or want to return to stock:
Fix: I recommend installing the latest Verizon firmware via Odin, courtesy of MisterXTC.
9. Phone getting hot:
Temp fix: Just let the phone sit for a while and do it's thing. Off the charger. My phone eventually calmed down and cooled off, and never heated up again.
Perm fix: return to stock. (try rooting again if you wish)
10. Unauthorized modifications have been made to your device.
Fix: Download Titanium Backup or Package Disabler Pro and disable/freeze SecurityLogAgent
11. DO NOT UPDATE SUPERSU OR THE BINARIES. All root guides and instructions say specifically not to do this.
Fix: Not doing it

Me too but I've had a bad case of the bootloops the last two days trying lol. And another Odin back to stock........ At least we have some mods and fixes now.

Anyone how to flash that zip with FlashFire sorry noob here never messed with FlashFire before.

For what it's worth, I flashed the phone with the SM-935U firmware I found in one of the AT&T threads, and the only issues I had were the Wi-Fi not saving and the lte iconsl (which don't really bother me all that much), along with the Security log thing and the lag (which are probably going to happen regardless) Phone is super snappy and better than ever once fixing that stuff!

You rooted after flashing the U firmware?
Is it noticeably snappier than rooting with the Verizon firmware? I'm currently running the U firmware without root, and the Verizon firmware with root was unbearably slow.

Yes, I'm running the U firmware rooted. It works well but I still had to do the build prop edit for WiFi and edit the csc for HD calling.

The zip file seems to work for everything except the hotspot. Mine still asks for a subscription.
Can anyone confirm if their hotspot is working?

flash then delete folder in recovery's file manager /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony
or choose reset if can get into APN setting( i can see the setting for one second when switch from 3g then LTE, then make the phone process crash)
or use "APN changer" app to get into the hidden setting, choose reset.
tested on a sprint galaxy s4 L720T CM13(6.01 Marshmallow), i only tested LTE data working.
