Thread for INITIAL ROOT ISSUES on the Verizon S7E
Let's get a compilation of issues and fixes all in one nice area. Please add your replies below and I will try to include them here when I can.
Most issues can be resolved with the zip file at the bottom of this post
1. WiFi credentials not saving or connecting after reboots:
Perm fix: Download a build prop editor app and edit this field --- ro.securestorage.support=true to ro.securestorage.support=false
2. Searching for service:
Temp fix: Start a phone call to anybody and it will kickstart your service
Perm fix: Some users have reported that wiping and reinstalling PE1 and re-rooting works, sometimes.
3. MMS not sending/receiving:
Temp fix: turn off WiFi and it will work temporarily
Perm fix: See ZIP file below!
Notes: Also check that you haven't accidentally disabled or frozen IMS Service or IMS Settings or MmsService
4. Weird RCS Service or VoLTE Service icons that appear on the device after rooting:
Perm fix: See x3demond3x fix here
5. Laggy performance:
Perm fix: Download and install a CPU governor app such as No Frills CPU Control and set the governor to OnDemand or Interactive. Experiment with this at your own risk, some settings will work better than others.
6. Xposed not installing:
Fix: Use this custom Xposed from this post
Link to download if post gets deleted
7. Issues with ADB:
Fix: Make sure you have ADB properly installed. This guide will help you install ADB and drivers easily.
8. Bricked your phone or want to return to stock:
Fix: I recommend installing the latest Verizon firmware via Odin, courtesy of MisterXTC.
9. Phone getting hot:
Temp fix: Just let the phone sit for a while and do it's thing. Off the charger. My phone eventually calmed down and cooled off, and never heated up again.
Perm fix: return to stock. (try rooting again if you wish)
10. Unauthorized modifications have been made to your device.
Fix: Download Titanium Backup or Package Disabler Pro and disable/freeze SecurityLogAgent
11. DO NOT UPDATE SUPERSU OR THE BINARIES. All root guides and instructions say specifically not to do this.
Fix: Not doing it

Anyone have the problem where gmail force closes when you try to open an email?
After using kernel toolkit I have zero issues that includes running xposed modules. . I'm still running pe1
Anyone how to flash that zip with FlashFire sorry noob here never messed with FlashFire before.
For what it's worth, I flashed the phone with the SM-935U firmware I found in one of the AT&T threads, and the only issues I had were the Wi-Fi not saving and the lte iconsl (which don't really bother me all that much), along with the Security log thing and the lag (which are probably going to happen regardless) Phone is super snappy and better than ever once fixing that stuff!

You rooted after flashing the U firmware?
Is it noticeably snappier than rooting with the Verizon firmware? I'm currently running the U firmware without root, and the Verizon firmware with root was unbearably slow.

Yes, I'm running the U firmware rooted. It works well but I still had to do the build prop edit for WiFi and edit the csc for HD calling.
The zip file seems to work for everything except the hotspot. Mine still asks for a subscription.
Can anyone confirm if their hotspot is working?

Note: Please look at changelog at bottom of post. I also posted a known bug list for this version at the bottom. Please read this.
Name: SupererSonic
Description:
Well my first Evo rom is done. It’s nothing special but it has some things none of the other roms out right now have. Basically the idea is that this is a completely working rom with no issues that I have seen (please comment if this is not the case) with some added features. One thing to also note is that I also created update zip files for the removed apps so if I removed something that you want you can easily just download the update and flash it.
Installation Instructions:
Download superersonic-signed.zip at the bottom of these instructions and copy it to the root of your sd card
Boot into recovery. Currently this is only possible by using the evo-recovery scripts created by Toast. If you don’t know what I’m talking about check out my rooting post
Perform a nandroid backup of your device
Perform a full wipe of your device (absolutely necessary. Issues will arise if this is not done)
Select flash zip and flash superersonic-signed.zip and reboot when it’s finished.
Changelog:
6-16-09
- Rebased off of new deodexed .6 OTA update
- Changed maps back from Brut 4.2 to default 4.2
- Added symlinks for BusyBox so tools are available without needing to type in busybox first
- Added SpareParts
- Added Rom Manager
- Removed boot sound
- Added init.d scripts
- Lowmemkiller settings changed to aggressive
- Deadline scheduler changed to default
- Zipalign apks on boot
- Added DarkTremor's Apps2SD script
- Modified /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko to enable 802.11n (Need testers because I don't have a wireless n router)
- Updated WiFi Tether to be version 2.0.5 Pre2
- Updated Market app to newest version
6-9-10
- Added Astro File Manager
- Added hosts file to block ads
- Added wireless tether
- Added Busybox
- Added Newest SU and Superuser APK
- Updated Facebook to v1.2
- Updated Google Maps to Brut Modified Google Maps v4.2 (Adds features such as caching map tiles to sd card)
- Replace Qik with new Qik on Market
- Deodexed all apks in rom
- Renamed otacerts, zip to prevent OTA updates
- Removed:
Amazon MP3
Customization Setup and Settings Providers (Saves memory)
HTC Field Test and Field Trial apks
GSD (Not sure what it does but it wastes memory and battery and doesn’t hurt to remove)
HTC Mobile Guide
HTC Setup Wizard (Keeps running even after first setup. Just set up your accounts after the rom is running.)
PDF Viewer
HTC Stocks, Stock widget and all stock related apks
HTC Footprints and widget
HTC NaviPanel
HTC Ringtone Trimmer
HTML Viewer (Not necessary for anything)
QuickOffice
All Sprint apps except Visual Voicemail including Sprint Navigation (Google Maps Nav is better), Sprint TV and widget, Sprint NFL, Sprint Nascar and the Sprint Zone app.
Teeter
Sprint Hotspot App
Bugs:
Apps2SD seems to be working fine however the apps I included (Rom Manager, Wifi tether, etc) don't seem to be showing after a flash. I assume this has something to do with apps2sd but am not sure. I am working on this.
Apps2SD Note:
To use apps2sd you must have an ext partition on your sd card. If you don't already just back up all your data (it will be erased), boot into recovery, go to the partition option and partition your card there. This method is from DarkTremor (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670087) so it also supports swap if you have a swap partition. After you partition your sd card apps2sd will work automatically.

Well done I will load this soon.

only problems I found so far is.. NO widgets loaded up on first boot.. and when I load the HTC home clock it doesn't get weather.. I tried even loading it manually but no go. next is GPS seems to be on by default, i had to manually disable it..and location services are disabled for "Use Network" Kinda back-words from what stock does
and some apps aren't showing up in the market.. i.e fandango..

The widgets not loading by default was intentional. I always end up deleting everything on the homescreens anyway so I made a clean slate for whatever ya'll want.
The GPS thing is kind of wierd. I'll see about changing that. The clock is also on 24 hour time by default. Forgot to mention that issue.
EDIT: Also for the market, try wiping your dalvik cache. That should fix it.
Looks like everything I wanted to do eventually.
Thanks for this! Downloading now
Is this ROM based off of the stock (1.32.651.1) ROM or the OTA updated (1.32.651.6) ROM?

Good call. If someone does a benchmark of the OTA I will do a bench of this. If not I will try to flash the OTA and then flash back to this. Best benchmark app anyone?
I have a n915k, updated with Odin to stock 5.01 and rooted. I want to try and remove the Korean calling protocol and roaming data block. After a reboot, everything works fine for a few hours, then for some reason it decides I am roaming/in Korea (?) and when I try and make a call it asks ‘Calling Korea’ or ‘Calling other countries’. I can no longer send MMS messages, it decides I am roaming and ‘data is blocked’ (for MMS), but data still works from my Vodafone (New Zealand) supplier. A reboot and everything works again for a few hours.
I had the same problem with the original 4.4.4 but after rooting and installing Xposed framework there were some modules which fixed this issue. Unfortunately the framework isn’t working yet with 5.01. I tried the Aroma bloatwear uninstaller, however, that also seems to be 5.01 incompatible. I did write down all the items it wanted to uninstall and then manually uninstalled using Uninstall (root), which works well. Most of the items Aroma bloatwear uninstaller wanted to remove weren’t there, so I assume they have changed name or not in this ROM.
Any suggestions what these Korean market additions might be called, so I can remove them? I have already uninstalled anything with Kor in it. Or any other recommendations?
Thanks in advance.

Change-log Updated 04/04/2016
04/04/2016
Verizon Build There is 2 versions your Standard build and battery save. Battery save only for Verizon users this helps with battery drain you get with Verizon network over LTE.
Performance tuning is turned on on the battery save mode. So the phone needs time to settle in a bit before it feels 100% in my testing it looks to save around 5% or more over standard build " I am loving the battery save build myself. remember this is based on what I have running results will vary per user"
Fixed battery faster battery drain from 1.29 in standard build and batter save.
Removed .mp4 demo video to save space.
Removed and updated moto camera to the last build. This gives users an option to uninstall update if they like same with my Verizon and some other apps.
Fixed emoji's and updated to newest android from MM.
Non-Verizon fixed APN settings so it will pick up your APN from your sim / network.
Non-Verizon build Faster 3g 2x data. " Remember it can only go as fast as your network gives you" But I did tweak it a bit.
Non-Verizon Build Removed My Verizon and other Verizon apps that got in from 1.2.9.
Non-Verizon users You will not be getting an battery save build. This is due to GSM networks. Plus way to hard for me to test if it will save battery. I do believe the non-Verizon build is already much better on battery on Verizon build. This is due to that you have non of the Verizon apps running.
This change log maybe missing a few things I have done a lot and tested a lot over the past few weeks to get this ver just right.

@cbalt Has made this very global friendly flashable zip for my ROMS This will give you better support for GSM in the USA and overseas. It will also remove all the Verizon junk for you as you do not need it if your not on Verizon. . @computerfreek274 and @cbalt will offer support for this the best we can. It is hard to give full support if we have no way to test the service provider you have. For best support have your APN's for your service and check that they are in your phone already. Please read below for more info and setup. As always backup your data. And remember we are not responsible for any data loss or if this software somehow kills your phone.
THIS IS NOT FOR VERIZON USERS. This has been tested on 1.2.3a
This is an update to my Removal Script. A few things have changed. First off since this is only for Global users to begin with, I have updated it to also update your Build.Prop, gps.conf, and apns-conf.xml. There are also 4 Different Versions now.
REBOOT AND FLASH AFTER GOING THROUGH THE SETUP WIZARD.
The files without Verizon in their name remove, Notice TTS aka Text To Speech and Velvet in there which is the Google APP aka Google Now. It removes everything I personally do not use. The files with Verizon in their name will be better suited for you if you don't want it slimmed down. In the next day or three I will create the .zips required to reinstall all the stuff removed in both along with a file to only update Build.Prop, gps.conf, and apns-conf.xml.

Full root! Full read write, access to kernel, android pay may work. As an user you will have full root so you can change your own fonts, host, emojis and so much more. Plus this is going to also let users that where stuck on stock 5.1 high and dry unlock and have root also. Think about this if you need to replace your phone it is shipped with 5.1 now this will allow you to unlock it and get back to root.

I was getting my phone ready for the Sunshine release and downloaded it onto my phone. I'm currently running 1.6b pon with xposed baked into the system. When I tried Sunshine it said I must uninstall xposed. Is there a way to do that without wiping data and flashing an older system?

Yes go to my site computerfreek.com and download the none xposed img I made for this.
Or direct link here to download
@djbling I updated OP and my website for more info. When sunshine is released for are phones we will have more info. We may have to flash are bootloader via flashboot when the time comes I will update the OP.
Thanks! Computerfreak. Glad to see your on top of it! That was a real fast reply!

Yeah and the good news is most users are on the .44 kernel so all you have to do is flash the no xposed ver of my img via mofo. Then unlocked via sunshine. Reboot and now you will have full rw root and still be on my img. Re-install xposed framework and your done.
You can then install twrp and do a full system backup via twrp recovery and save a copy of it on your PC too. Then sometime after that I will have all kinds of flashable roms from stock to cm and aosp.
Cm and aosp and nexus will need testing so I can get voice mail working and advanced calling on nexus and aosp roms. As for cm it may need a bit more time and testing.
Sunshine 3.2 beta for droid turbo is out!

Now that those of us that were stuck on locked 5.1 have unlocked bootloaders, how do we acquire permanent root? I'm new to the while unlocked bootloader thing.

Once your bootloader is unlocked, flash the twrp recovery and a rooted image. See the OP
This is exciting stuff! Thanks so much to CF for this thread. I was scrolling through 44 pages of the bootloader unlock thread looking for specifics, but as per usual CF has laid it all out for us here in an efficient and easy to understand post. We are lucky to have him in this community.

I am working on flashable img's. but I am going to have to call it for tonight 1:30 am here. I will test more when I get up.

NOTE: For those asking about an update of this rom to the latest QK1 baseband, it appears that you can now manually update this rom to QK1 in Settings without adding any stock bloat or damaging the rom. For more info, please refer to this post HERE.
UPDATE: The Xposed Framework works with this rom. You can find more info on that HERE.
Hey guys! I thought I'd make this super lite version of the new "N920TUVU4EQC6" Nougat stock firmware for all my fellow T-Mobile Note 5-ers out there. It's much smaller than the official stock firmware package, but please note that I didn't get rid of all the Samsung or Gapps stuff like many debloated roms do. I basically tried to make the rom as lite as possible without reducing any functionality of the S Pen, networking, Settings & Quick Settings options, image & video editing capabilities, S Health heartbeat sensor functionality, S Voice and TTS stuff, etc., so I left all the necessary stuff to do that. I left the Play Store installed too, so no one has to flash a Gapps package just to download apps. Any other Google apps you want you can just download from HERE or you can actually still install a Gapps package if you really want too. I've tested the ones from OpenGapps btw and they work fine with this rom.(Just make sure you're selecting "ARM64", "7.0" & whatever Gapps package you want.) Keep in mind too that anything Google you add increases your online footprint, releases a lot more data over the web and decreases your own level of security.
The main thing I focused on for this rom though was the personal security of the user.
Security Features:
- VPN/TOR support For Online Anonymity.(via Orbot)
To get started using this feature right away and secure yourself just:
1) Make sure you've updated to the newest version of "Orbot" from the Play Store.(Contains some fixes for some crashes that were happening for some.)
2) Open Orbot from the "Security" folder on the home page.
3) Hit the "Start" button.
4) Click the top left menu and switch on "Apps VPN Mode".
5) Click "Proxy All" Button at the bottom of the next page.
That's it. You're done.
NOTE: Some users have reported experiencing force closes in Orbot for some reason when trying to apply the above settings for the first time. If this happens then just open android Settings and go to Apps>Orbot and click on "Force Stop" Then click on "Storage" below and tap "Clear Data". Should fix the issue. The latest version in the Play Store says that it fixes some crashes, so make sure Orbot is fully up to date.
- More Secure Web Browsing & Web Search Options.(via Orfox & DuckDuckGo)
Orfox browser comes with Tor already built in and is best for remaining anonymous online. DuckDuckGo is good for private searches and doing things that Orfox may block for security purposes. You can enable Tor in the DuckDuckGo browser settings if you want too, though all your apps should already be running on a private connection(VPN) as it is if you followed the Orbot steps above.
- Private Calls & SMS/MMS Text Messaging.(via Signal)
INSTRUCTIONS(To See Your Text Messages):
1) Open the Signal app at the bottom of the home page.
2) Enter your phone #.
3) Click the "Register" button.
Your texts will then appear and will be private/encrypted from now on. You can make private calls through the app too.
NOTE: If you must have the stock messaging app, then please refer to this post HERE.
- A Secure Password Manager For Creating & Storing Encrypted Passwords For All Your Accounts.(via Keepass2Android)
- 2-Factor Authentication Support For Your Accounts Providing The Ability To Generate 2 Step Verification Codes For Secure Log Ins.(via Authy)
You will have to sign up for 2 Step Verification with your account provider(Facebook, Google or wherever) first before you can use this service. Then you will have to authenticate it with the app. Afterwards when you try and log into your account it will ask you for a 6 digit token # to access your account which this app provides. Makes it so no one else can access your account even if they had your password because they would need to have your device as well to access it.
- Functionality To Block The Camera From Being Opened Secretly For Anti-Spyware Protection.(via Camera Blocker)
Camera Blocker Instructions
- Real-Time Connection Monitor For Tracking Exactly Where Your Apps Are Connecting To Visually On A Map.(via SpyMonitor)
I just added this one as a fun little extra security feature. It is good to check from time to time where all your data is going though.
- Best of all though, if you don't really want any of that stuff and just want to further debloat, I added an option for people to delete whatever system or user apps they want.(via System App Safe Remover)
NOTE: These are all important features for protecting your identity online, for more information on all the features listed above, please just look the corresponding apps up in the Play Store. If anyone wants more information about deleting apps or restoring some of the stock apps to the rom for whatever reason, then they should read this comment HERE.
Other Features:
Aroma Installer
Roots With No-Verity-Opt-Encrypt & SuperSU on install.
Init.d Support
Deodexed
Deknoxed
Debloated
Custom QC6 Lite Boot & Shutdown Animations
Custom Anonymous/Guy Fawkes Theme
Latest Version of the S8 TouchWiz Launcher
Latest Version of Bixby
Known Issues(and their fixes):
Bixby- Needs to update ICS(Interactive and Customized Services), but won't when you try to update. This is an issue on Samsung's end that came about recently. To get it to work you just have to install Personalization Service Client from HERE. You can always just touch and hold on the homescreen and toggle the switch to turn off Bixby if you don't want it too.
Orbot- If you experience any force closes, then make sure you've fully updated it in the Play Store. Latest version contains some important crash fixes.
Gear VR Function- I removed this stuff originally just to further debloat some of the extra Samsung stuff, but if anyone has Gear or a Gear VR device and wants those files back, then just flash the restore file from the Downloads page in TWRP. Thanks!.
Voice Typing- To enable the microphone in Samsung Keyboard, then just check out this post HERE
Netflix- This app is not included with the rom, but just as an honorable mention, Netflix doesn't work right out of the box. This is not a rom issue. This is a Netflix issue. You may not even find Netflix in the Play Store because it is not technically supported for the Note 5 on the new Nougat SDK yet. To fix this though, then just first download the newest Netflix app(version 4.16.1 build 15145 or newer) from HERE and then use ES File Explorer to find and delete the file "liboemcrypto.so" from "/system/lib/" so you don't experience any service interruption.

Well, I don't know about about Audio Mod, though it looks like you can just flash the file from here if this is the one you meant:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-galaxy-note5/themes-apps/mod-tmon5surroud-sound-t3187359
Hadn't thought about tethering hotspot either, though, depending on what you want to do, I did leave the mobile Hotspot app in the rom for doing hotspot over wifi. There is always the Android Beam function if you just want to transfer files or share links, contacts, etc. from one device to another. It's not the same as tethering though I know. Maybe I'll look into incorporating that if I can at some point later on down the road if/when I get some more extra time.
thanks for the link.
I meant unlimited tethering hotspot. Tmobile limit 5 GB at 4GLTE, after that still can tether ...but at 2G speed which is useless nowadays.

As it says in the OP, you may have to wait awhile for the 1st boot to complete. Possibly even 5-10 minutes. Also, it may reboot up to 3 times or so on 1st boot while it roots. Believe me, it works really good. Using it right now in fact. Just have to be patient the 1st boot up.
1) Wipe.
2) Reflash.

Note: Click top right menu and click on "All Languages" to see more languages if yours doesn't appear.

Same happens with me as well, But I assure you the settings are still working if you changed anything. The only thing would be clearing the data and doing everything over again if you want to change your settings. I don't know why it does this but it's the only way that's been working for me so far.
As for the bixby ICS, just install the Personalization Service Client from APKMIRROR LINK and it will update it.
The only thing I'm having problem with is the bixby vision not being recognized on photos. I don't know if it have to do with installing the updated bixby files from apkmirror before updating the app, as I should of just left it as default since bogarty said it was on latest. So i'm unsure of that as scrolling to left works though, just not bixby voice and vision. Gonna Dirty Flash ROM and see if it fixes the problem.
Other than that, the ROM is pretty nice, enjoy the security done with this ROM.

Thanks Tray! You're right. Personalization Service does fix Bixby. I'll add the link to the OP. I haven't tried installing Bixby Vision yet, it's possible it may only work with the newest camera 7.0.x. I tried adding that camera to the rom actually, but it wasn't compatible.

You might also check and see if you need to update the app in the Play Store too. The latest update lists:
* Fixes for app selection screen layout and crash bugs.
* Fixes for native code crashes for some devices.
EDIT: By the way, if you guys ever want to change your Tor identity on the fly too, then you can just open the app and swipe the green onion picture in any direction.
Thanks for this dev. Has anyone gotten a hang on Install upon completion? After "Installation completed successfully", when I clicked NEXT, I got a full freeze. Waited 15 mins, nothing...
*Edited for keyboard battery dying, LOL.
I was able to hard reset and get back into TWRP. Tried installing again, this time I did it w/safe wipe and it seems to be working. Will keep you posted on results after light use. Thanks again.

If it completed successfully, then just hold down the power button and reboot. Should be fine. First boot will take awhile.
Just went through and further explained all the security features in the OP. Added some images too as a guide. Hope this helps those who want to fully take advantage of those features.
Yet again, all thanks go to @jrkruse for this one. I have modified his zip to work on the Verizon S7 flat. The ROM is silky smooth since it uses the factory kernel. The instructions have been tweaked to work for the Flat. I can confirm that SafetyNet passes using this method.
A MASSIVE thanks goes to @hunteditor for this. I haven't been around XDA much these past few weeks and haven't made a new thread for the U-ROM. It has been long overdue. He took on the annoyance of modifying the instructions and download links to work.

People ask if they can root this Rom. The answer is yes, but why would you want to? You get all the benefits of rooting and still have official status. Plus, you get the outstanding battery life of a non-rooted S7.

An Explanation of what this is. I have found a way to manipulate system files on a stock rom and not loose system official status. This Allows Samsung Pay and all safetynet checking apps to function. This Rom is not rooted just modified.

S7 Nougat root kernel
Install Instructions From Any Build:
Warning: This will wipe your device. Some of these instructions are redundant, but they will ensure that everything goes as planned. If you don’t follow them to the T, don’t complain.
1) Unzip G930UUEU4BQD2_G930UOYM4BQD2_VZW.zip. Boot the phone into download mode (volume down, home, and power) then flash all four files (BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC) with ODIN. The phone will reboot into recovery and throw an error. Reboot into download mode and reflash HOME_CSC again. – Thanks @thefirst__noel
2) Don’t bother logging into any accounts, as the phone will get wiped again. Copy the FlashFire.apk, AP_G930UUEU4BQD2_CL10860000_QB13198947_REV02_user_ low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5, and UFirm_Multi_Carrier_Hybrid_NoNaMe_PlayStore_BS_Free_V14_VZWS7FLAT.zip to Internal Storage. – Thanks @appye
3) Make sure secure boot is turned off!!! Shut off the phone and boot into download mode (volume down, home, and power). Flash the S7 Nougat root kernel in the AP slot in Odin.
4) When the phone reboots, unlock developer options and enable USB debugging. Unzip the S7_SU_2_79_Root_Unroot_WO_Tweaks.zip and run root.bat from your PC. May need to right-click and run as administrator.
5) Now install FlashFire. In FlashFire, select add Flash Firmware Package and choose AP_G930UUEU4BQD2_CL10860000_QB13198947_REV02_user_ low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 and make sure all partitions are checked.
Then add Flash Zip or OTA and choose UFirm_Multi_Carrier_Hybrid_NoNaMe_PlayStore_BS_Fre e_V14_VZWS7FLAT.zip and tap mount system when FlashFire asks.
VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: MAKE SURE TO UNCHECK INJECT ROOT AFTER ADDING THE ZIP! – Thanks @dclutter1
Click Add Wipe and choose Wipe Dalvik Cache and Cache and choose Format Cache Also select wipe SuperSU image. Make sure wipe is at end of flash sequence. The sequence should be AP file first then Zip second and Wipe cache last.
6) The phone will restart and FlashFire will flash the firmware first, then the Aroma Installer will start.
7) In Aroma, select wipe ALL data (DO NOT KEEP SU) – See notes below.
8) The phone will say custom status on first boot, but it goes away after setup and reboot.
The phone may take up to 20 minutes to boot the first time, so be patient.
If you reflash the ROM, you must flash the AP file in FlashFire at the same time.
Notes:
* Do not use Package Disabler Pro if you choose NoNaMe mods in Aroma.
* If you are installing the S8 apps, you may run into force closes. Your best bet is to pull down on the notification panel, click the settings button, and go into applications and clear data for everything that is force closing. If you keep data, you may run into issues with Advanced Calling and other features. Keep data at your own risk. If you don’t wipe data, then please don’t post issues in the thread.
* I was able to keep my settings and data by choosing keep data in Aroma and still passed SafetyNet. I can’t guarantee that this will work for everyone, but you can try if you want. This probably will not work if you are coming from MM. If you decide to take this route and have issues, do a full wipe and reinstall before posting any problems.
* If you get constant application errors saying "IMS service has stopped" and "com.sec.epdg has stopped", boot into recovery using the Power+VolUp+Home combination. You will likely get a "No command" error screen. Let it on that screen (30-60 seconds) and it will eventually go into the recovery menu. Wipe data and cache in recovery. – thanks paul.miner

***This post has been modified to include the Flat files only.***
Thanks @DJ XtAzY for the Boot_Recovery image.
Does this ROM come with Google Pixel Dialer, Google Camera etc Google stuff in Aroma to choose from ?
I didn't install those options, but I believe they are there, along with some S8 app options as well. I've been running this for a week. It's silky smooth with great battery life. Every time I pick up my phone now I can't help thinking this is how our phones should be. I'm loving this ROM.
Here's the boot recovery file I created that should be added to the first post:
AP_G930UUEU4BQD2_Boot_Recovery_Image.tar.md5
Those that want to remove or update ad blocking host file will need to follow jrkruse post, with one modification:

I also modified the updater_script so that the BS Free section of the script will remove more of Google Apps, such as Photos, Hangout, but I kept the Camera plugins and the Gallery's photo editor and video playback, etc. I also sorted that section of the script by alphabetical, it was a pain to see what the script removes and keep when everything is out of order when going through the list. If anyone's interested of that updater_script, let me know.

I added this to the second post. Thanks!
As for the updater_script, I planned to redo it to fix the gallery and video issues on the next version. I didn't want to upload an update with these fixes, then release one right after when the latest ROM is available with the new firmware, because that usually ends up being the case lol. I'd definitely be interested in looking at your script.
I feel like I'm going crazy here, any help would be appreciated. I downloaded everything and flashed all four files (BL, AP, CP, and HOME_CSC) with ODIN. The phone reboots into recovery and throws an error. I reboot into download mode and reflash HOME_CSC again. Then, it just gets stuck on the SAMSUNG screen. I've tried reflashing multiple times, and even let the phone sit for over an hour in case it was just taking a long time to boot. But I can't ever get it past the SAMSUNG screen. Any ideas?
@CVertigo1
I was able to install this ROM.
I noticed a very weird thing. In the attached screenshot, there is a small white tab at top of the screen in scroll area.
Why does it exist ? Can we hide it ?

It's called the battery bar. Disable it in the ROM control app.

Thanks a lot. I was able to hide it.
Another weird thing is, in the ROM control app, the button size is enlarged. Not sure why (attached).
I was using other ROM of yours earlier and in it the size was correct. Any thoughts?
Also, a word of caution during installation-
When I flashed everything from ODIN first and booted, the phone downloaded an update(OTA)
I accidentally said Update. It went ahead and installed it.
Booted back fine, was able to root, flashfire, aroma. After aroma however, it got stuck in boot animation. Rebooted it, got stuck and would not go ahead.
Needed to factory reset from recovery and start over.
Some of the cursors are a little awkward with the modded systemUI. You'll notice it everywhere, especially Google.

Thanks.
One more doubt-
How can we control settings of open source ad blocking ?
I think it is blocking 'Here Maps' App and I'd like to exclude this from blocking.
Thanks.

Is there a plan to fix this ?
Is this more visible if we choose Google Play ROM version as opposed to debloat/verizon rom ?
I was using Verizon_TMO_Hybrid_Nougat_Rom and in this I think this cursor/gui awkwardness did not exist.
Thanks

I use Adguard, so I don't use the ad blocking in the ROM. I don't know how to help on that. Did you see post #2 about ad blocking? If I remember correctly, you can edit the file and use adb to push it, but I'm not certain.

That is really up to jrkruse if he fixes it in a later update. Switching ROM versions won't fix it. If it's a huge bother to you, then re-flash the ROM and don't choose the modded systemUI.
I am currently running Stang5litre Edition 5.0 s7 v3 MM ROM on an AT&T S7 Flat and I believe the ROM is based on the S7 Edge . I am trying to flash this ROM using the OP instructions and keep getting this error in Odin on Step 1. The phone never reboots, it just stays in recovery. Any suggestions?

Its cause this ROM is nougat based and for a strange reason you can't flash nougat roms directly on top of MM ones. The usual fix is to flash the stock firmware for your phone, try to get the OTA update for nougat, then follow the steps. Also just giving a fair warning you can't downgrade back down to MM after the nougat update so you wont be able to go back to Stang5litre until he updates that to nougat.

Hey I have a bit of a bug report. Was messing around with the settings in NNRomControl and finally got things the way I like it. I went to go restart the phone and when it booted back up System UI either Stopped or Crashed and didn't restart itself. Did a little testing and found that it was the System UI Tuner Mod. After enabling any of the settings and restarting the phone System UI would immediately crash on startup.
