Volume key unlocking?

Good day. I am planning to get the Sensation XE. But i have a question regarding the unlocking of the screen. On my xperia arc, in order to unlock, i have the choice of either pressing the power button and swiping to unlock or pressing the home key and then swipe to unlock. For the sensation, do i really need to press the power button then swipe to unlock? Or can the volume key be used to press then swipe to unlock? Is there a software or program that could substitute the power button for the volume rocker button to unlock? I find it a hassle to always reach out on top of the phone just to press the power button. Is there a way to make this easier?

By default, you have no option. The only way to wake the phone (turn on the screen) is by pressing the power button.
But as "deadeye0908" linked above, you modify it to use the voume buttons (after S-Off & root).

I wish to change that function to:
When i will press that button it will be turn ON "Cyberon Voice Commander" or another application that i will change for.

[Q] About key layout in CM9

[CyanogenMod 9 Alpha Builds 4.0.4]
In order to use the SEARCH key as the POWER key, I tried to replace every 'SEARCH' with 'POWER' in the following files:
/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
/system/usr/keylayout/qwerty.kl
/system/usr/keylayout/saga-keypad.kl
After rebooting, it doesn't seem to work.
Could anybody tell me why?

I made a shortcut to long press search button, simple and works well.

I know this app. But I want the SEARCH button works exactly the same as POWER: short press = lock; long press = power menu.
Also I would like to use NEXT/PREV buttons on my earphone as VOLUME+/-.
So I guess I have to modify the key layout.

Screen off and lock DOES that.
Install the app. Then hold search button....

[Q] Remap hardware button

Hi,
I want to change the middle "Show previews" button to function like a "menu" button, I have looked all over the internet but no one explains how to do it on one s.
is it even possible? and if yes then please let me know how

The middle soft button on mine is the home button.. the recent apps button on the right can be used as a menu button. Settings, display, buttons and gestures. The rest should be pretty easy

[Q] HTC One SV variants

Hi guys, how do I tell which variant of One SV I got? k2_u, k2_ul etc..
I bought it from Malaysia and it is non-LTE.

Go to Settings. Go to Power. Scroll down and you will see Fast Boot. Make sure it is unchecked. Power off your device. Then press and hold your volume down key. Then press and hold your power key. Hold both until your HBoot screen appears. It will say it at the top. In HBoot you will use your up and down volume keys to scroll through your options. You will use the power button to select your option. There is an option to reboot. Select it and your phone will restart.
