Good day. I am planning to get the Sensation XE. But i have a question regarding the unlocking of the screen. On my xperia arc, in order to unlock, i have the choice of either pressing the power button and swiping to unlock or pressing the home key and then swipe to unlock. For the sensation, do i really need to press the power button then swipe to unlock? Or can the volume key be used to press then swipe to unlock? Is there a software or program that could substitute the power button for the volume rocker button to unlock? I find it a hassle to always reach out on top of the phone just to press the power button. Is there a way to make this easier?
Yup here u go:

By default, you have no option. The only way to wake the phone (turn on the screen) is by pressing the power button.
But as "deadeye0908" linked above, you modify it to use the voume buttons (after S-Off & root).

Is it possible to change the power button function?
I keep pressing it by mistake when I use my phone in both landscape and portrait modes. I've had the phone for ages now and just can't hold the phone comfy without my fingers resting against the power button.
It would be nice if I could set the power button to sleep on long press like the reboot menu, and have the reboot menu on a 10second press.
Would this be possible?

i remapped my search button with the button remapper app. it has ALL the power button options except wake the screen. to wake the screen, ics has an option. go to the main phone settings, security, lockscreen, press none. now you can wake the phone with volume button. cm9 also has a wake device with the volume rocker option.

:- Can you please let me know how can i remap my serach button to power button for my unrooted nexus s
how can i remap my nexus s running on jb 4.3.1?
the button remapper dont work on my device..
i already select none at the security menu but it doesn't wake my device when i press the volume button..
edit: fixed! found the volume button wake at settings.. )
I've already read through this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596085 and used this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1524858 for remapping my search button to my power button, along with using volume for wake. I have done both of these, and that works just fine.
But, my problem is a little different.
My original power button didn't just stop working, it is actually malfunctioning. Meaning that the power button is being hit at random times, even when I don't press it (or the search button which is now my power button). It is extremely annoying and difficult to use the phone.
Does anyone know of a way to disable the power button completely? I'll settle to using search for off and volume buttons for wake, but I need a way to disable the original power button. The button remapper app from the thread above includes a way to remap or disable every button, except the original power button.
Thanks for your help
It says it all in the second link you posted. Read it all.

No.
Like I said, I want to DISABLE the power button completely, because it's malfunctioning. I have ALREADY remapped it to the search key, but the original power button keeps pressing itself, turning the screen on and off, bringing up the boot menu, etc.
The button remapper app allows you remap or disable every button EXCEPT the power button. So while you can remap search to be power, you couldn't remap power to be search (or in my case, disable power completely).
Anyone?
You would have to physically disable the button yourself.
I don't think its possible to fully power off your phone, but what you can do is map the volume up or down buttons as a wake key. I myself want to do this and am still searching for the solution, but if you want to take a crack at it:
The file buttons you want to edit should be in here. somewhere(system/user/keylayout) Root explorer can help you edit the layout without changing the format. That's as far as I can take you for now

Hi,
I was not happy with the small power button, so I took the idea described here for miro device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35801737
and I changed in fih_gpio-keys.kl:
key 114 VOLUME_DOWN WAKE
to:
key 114 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED
Now volume down key works as search button - so I can unlock device by pressing volume down, and use it as a fast search to Google. I also downloaded LaunchKey
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818499
So long press on Volume down will bring me to camera360 app. for photo.
I do not use volume down so often and If I want to set volume down, I just press volume up and on screen I set the level..
(also the value can be change to: key 114 POWER WAKE - after that it works as the power button - but not for the complete power up after shut down... )
So this tip can be useful for anybody, who wish to have another way to unlock Xperia J (I was not happy with the unlock app. on Google play, as they always somehow messed with my lock screen)
Changed minc VOL(-) liked it !

Useful combo for Xperia J ,since it lacks SEARCH key +1
Hi guys, how do I tell which variant of One SV I got? k2_u, k2_ul etc..
I bought it from Malaysia and it is non-LTE.
Go to Settings. Go to Power. Scroll down and you will see Fast Boot. Make sure it is unchecked. Power off your device. Then press and hold your volume down key. Then press and hold your power key. Hold both until your HBoot screen appears. It will say it at the top. In HBoot you will use your up and down volume keys to scroll through your options. You will use the power button to select your option. There is an option to reboot. Select it and your phone will restart.
