Best Android Phone? - General Topics

So I was wondering what would be the best phone running android right now?
-best graphics
-best cpu
-easier to hack/mod
?

IMO it's the Samsung Galaxy S2. Although, some will argue the Nexus.
If you can wait until May, the S3 may be a contender though...

I agree... the S2 is just too damn awesome. Too bad the battery is the only (and a BIG one at that) disappointment!
Have you seen any un-rumoured pics of the S3 though? Please point me to some links, if yes.

Yea... S2 FTW!! and Note FT~bigger~W!!
I haven't used the Note yet; but seeing that it's S2's BIG Brother, there's no doubt that it's a tad bit more awesome
Had I waited 5 months, I'd have bought Note early this month for the same price that I paid for my S2 back then (July 2011). However, Note won't fit my pocket; so I'm not cryin' like a baby over this.
My answer to the thread: There's no real "BEST Android phone" in the market yet. Android has a long way to go... So, Google.. if you (or your robots) are reading this post, improve Android fast.. real fast. And solve the damn battery drain issues. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease.

Sweet. So I do have the best phone out there right now.

Agreed that the S2 is probably the best Android phone at the moment. And your battery life issues are whisked away with updates, so don't worry about that.

See my signature, the SGSII remains the best of them all

My vote has to go to the Samsung Galaxy SII .

I'll buck the trend and say Galaxy Nexus. The SII is a very close second though.

yes i will agree with everion the galaxy s 2

S2 is the current, GLOBAL standard; and, though I don't fully like Android for battery life and mostly touch-only input, I DO like S2 myself.

Samsung Galaxy S2 is my favourite

for my, galaxy note

Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S II?

I am pretty happy with my 4month old galaxy s ii, but does anyone has this crazy thought of selling your galaxy S II to switch over to Galaxy nexus? Or will you stick with your current Galaxy S II?
I was thinking it may be a good time to experience pure google, but the hardware is certainly losing out to Galaxy S II.
I'll probably stick with my SGSII if we get ICS ( Which will probably happen ). 4,65 inch is too big for me .

I'm going to swap my sgs2 for a galaxy note! Because of the screen size It's likely to get ics quite early. Plus most of the hardware is same or better than sgs2.

There's a good chance that we'll get a basic Android 4.0 port from the Nexus Prime before we get the Touchwiz version of it, so I'm sticking with the SGSII. Best of both worlds hopefully!

I am trying so hard to resist selling my S2 to buy a Galaxy Nexus when it is released!
Nope sticking with the SGSII, the camera on the Nexus is only 5MP which is very surprising and clearly not as good as the SGSII camera, the screen too is just too big.
Will probably wait for the Galaxy S3 next year,im amazed at some people jumping ship all the time, they must have plenty of money too.
The camera(front and back going by the sample pics ) on the Galaxy Nexus is is also worse then Galaxy S2....So definitlly not.

No way of selling my SGS2 for a 4.65" nexus.
Too BIG
The only thing I don't like about Samsung is that it takes forever to do a single update… ~.~.

Exactly...but especially those guys saying the galaxy note with the 5.3inch screen is ok size. Excuse me, but I like putting my phone in my jean pocket, and its already tight with the sgs2.....
I have a SGS2 but if I had the money I buy immediatley a Galaxy Nexus xD
Waiting to see how ICS will be implemented on the SGS2.
ICS native rez is now 1280x720 which our belived SGS2 is not.
And the soft keys...well no more physical keys on ICS

I bought to my wife the new xperia mini ST15i with 1ghz and i can say i am impressed and by default screen off animation .
5mp camera hd,fast amazing!!!
I'm ready to buy one for myself too
Considering it, as I'm tired of having to wait for each update for android. I also doubt the OMAP4460 is going to be any slower than the Exynos under ICS.
Definitley not.. I love my s2 and judging by the reviews of galaxy nexus, it's not worth it..
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I'm still a bit disappointed the SGS2 didn't have NFC
OMAP4460 Is pretty much the same cpu performance, grathics will be a bit worse, but more highend games have powervr versions so it will be much of a muchness.
Though due to the higher screen resolution might be a bit slower.
I am very tempted by the galaxy nexus, ics quickly and ota updates from google, go fast updates!
We shall see how much it costs, my mother wants an android phone so maybe I can flog my sgs2 to her.

I got the captivate in January, followed by the HTC inspire on release day, followed by the infuse on release day as well. 3 weeks after I got infuse, I returned it and got my S2 in June and for the first time ever, i was, and still am extremely happy with my S2 and have no intentions of upgrading until the S3. No need to. This phone is the bomb in my opinion. I would like to try ice cream sandwich, not going to buy a phone just for a new operating system, which with eventually get ported to the S2 and definitely be shipped on the S3

Which is better??

Which mobile is better to buy??
Need reviews....
Samsung Galaxy R
Samsung Galaxy S Plus
Or
Samsung Omnia W
none of the above, Nexus is best, or the upcoming SGS3
I will took Galaxy S PLus from them.
I dont think if he is asking about SGS3, maybe he dont have money for the newest phones?
no ICS 4.0 upgrade for SGS Plus
I recommend Galaxy R because it will be Ice Cream Sandwich in the near future.
What the heck is R???
I have heard most about "Samsung Galaxy S Plus". Don't know about others

Only if its an HTC lmao
The Galaxy R is basically a GS2 with Tegra 2 and a 5 mpx camera. Between those it is the smartest buy. Not mention that he will be getting ICS
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
The galaxy R is the best phone out of the three but its also the most expensive one.
I'm gonna buy a galaxy w due to the smaller size & the fact that it is much cheaper(at least here in sweden)
i think Samsung Galaxy S better
I have a Galaxy S and love it.
In my opinion its Galaxy S+, because its more perfomance
Buy Samsung Galaxy S Plus its an Android. Omnia W is a Windows phone. And Galaxy R have some problems like poor battery life and sound is also not so good. Samsung Galaxy S plus is great than both of them.
Samsung Galaxy S Plus is the most powerful and fast and has Android!!!
Go for Galaxy R
Go for the galaxy R because it's better and is cheap+its getting Official ics

Well two things to consider, what do they each compare too and how big is the custom rom support, because samsung phones are easy to get rooted and start flashing custom roms which improve the user experience A LOT.
Well I wouldn't get the S Plus as the S is near enough the same thing but the ROM development scene is much bigger for the S, so better rom choice.
The R is a cheaper S2 but once again, the rom scene is tiny (much smaller than the rom scene for S Plus). And as the S3 was recently announced, the S2 will probably start dropping in price, especially if you pick up a good condition second hand one of ebay for example.
Omnia W is a windows phone. Nothing against windows phone, but android has more apps, and is just more customizable. (But i do like the look of windows phone, and if the app store grows a lot more and the intergration with windows 8 is great i could possibly look into a windows phone 8 device or something)
I'd wait and drop the cash on an S2, it'll last you ages, GREAT rom support, official ICS releases so no ports and an awesome phone in itself.
If the S2 is a bit too much money or a bit too big, hen get the S. The S plus isn't that much better than it, really.

If you could have either free...

Would you get a Samsung Galaxy SII or the Galaxy Nexus, and why?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Galaxy Nexus for sure. It's newer and gets all the good Google updates, Samsung isn't known for being quick to update. I kind of wish I got a Gnex instead of my Evo LTE sometimes...
Wrong forum section but definitely GNex.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Nexus, for me the software is more important than the hardware and with the Nexus I'd be getting pure Android and quick updates, as opposed to something hacked together by Samsung which gets released if they feel like bothering.
Samsung Galaxy, the nexus is having too many quality issues.
Kinda funny though, I still want one but refuse to buy it until the forum discussions change from quality problems/workarounds to use problems/workarounds.
Nexus is newer but galaxy s2 is still getting plenty of love in development and updates, plus has additional sd storage capability so galaxy s2

I would prefer S3 Over S4 mini because of screen size and resolution and most its memory and i think S3 is really a very good phone to have.
S3.
My mum recently had the very same debate. She went with the S3 and hasn't regretted it since.
Particularly the screen is better, and the battery is bigger.
S3 all the way. It isn't worth vying all cheaper version of a big flagship phone. Get the s3 since it was the last big flagship phone. The specs are no where near to being outdated. Dancing will for sure continue to support it for a while.

[Q] [DISCUSSION] Nexus 5 or Galaxy S3? (As daily driver, KitKat)

Alright, so I'm getting a new phone this summer (or Christmas) and I can't decide between the Galaxy S3 and the Nexus 5. The Galaxy S3 is 100€ cheaper but the Nexus 5 is the newer and more supported. I'm looking for a phone that can be my daily driver and possibly take good photos and video, although I'm not really looking for amazing quality. I'm used to low end smartphones like the Galaxy Pocket (God that thing was a nightmare) and Galaxy S Duos (this one is a bit better but JESUS IT SUCKS AS WELL-- only sometimes).
I don't want TouchWiz no matter how much "faster" and "more beautiful" it is, because I know that Samsung only makes it go fast for about a month and then BOOM it's slow as heck for no reason. If I get the Galaxy S3, I'm gonna flash a KitKat ROM on it.
