Backup Help - HTC Sensation

I need help. I was following the instructions on how to root my phone. I got it S-Off and then manually installed CWM. I was going to install superuser but the instructions said to backup the device. So I did that. But while backingup it stopped and said there was an error. I don't wanna go and try to do the superuser step incase something happens. What can I do to fix this. Should I just try and install superuser? Is there a way to backup my phone before and after root? Can somebody help me. Thanks.
BTW I looked through tons of pages on the instructions thread but couldn't find anybody with this problem.

Did you S-off using Revolutionary or the Official HTC method?

1.) what method of backup are you talking about?
Through CWM recovery?
Or a backup tool like Titanium Backup?
2.) If CWM - enough space on the SD card left??
- mwie -

I got it to work now. It needed more space on the SD Card. I deleted everything it still didn't work. But when I tried it again it worked. Thanks guys.

[Q] CWM recovery no option atrix 4g

Hi everyone,
Sorry to ask this question but I'm really in need of help here, I have been reading and trying for the whole week how to install a custom ROM but unfortunately I'm having a hard time, I have an Atrix 4g motorola mobile from AT&T I have rooted and unlocked the bootloader, I have installed the adb also, then I'm trying to install CWM for Atrix 4g but I'm not successful, it looks succesful when I flashboot the device it even showed me "Flashing storemgr 505" then I typed flashboot reboot, hoping I will be able to use Rom manager then when I try to install Greyblur ROM from http://briefmobile.com/greyblur-rom-for-motorola-atrix-4g using the ROM manager(install from SD card), it will reboot and go the the android(exclamation point) logo, without the option of CWM recovery, it has only 4 options which is the default one
wipe data/cache
wipe cache partition
reboot
apply update from sdcard
I don't know what to do now, If I choose the update from sdcard it is saying error "cant open /cache/recovery command".
By the way I have downloaded the file from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1138541 so i don't think the file is the problem.
Thanks in advance.
I would recommend returning to stock firmware(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991072) and watching this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHWRdnekvl8
I originally had a lot of trouble too when I got my atrix but that video goes step by step.
What your doing wrong is trying to flash through Rom Manager. You need to reboot into recover via Tenfars CWM app, then flash from sdcard. Do not use Rom Manager it is not ready for the Atrix yet. Use Tenfars and you should have no prob.
Thanks guys appreciate that, I'll try that out and let you know.
Hi guys, I went to flash back again to 1.26 now I was able to install application from non-market apps, and phone is rooted but the issue now is my wifi, since it is restricted here in our country I have followed this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077329
Before when I was using the 1.86 I dont have any issue following the link above, but now it is not working.
Thanks in advance.

how did you root? If you use Gladroot you can run the "afterupdate" to retain root after updating to 1.86.

Hi,
I forgot the name of the tool if I'm not mistaken it is gingerbreak, I run it on my android phone then, it gave me the superuser.
The phone came with the 1.86 I did not update it, but since It is not working from my country I have to root to install the link above, which is to replace my wifi drivers. Then after replacing I was able to connect from the wireless here.
Now I used the method to flash to 1.26 and rooting using the Gladroot, then using the method on the link above to fix the wifi drivers, I'm not able to connect to my wifi. I don't know what I did wrong here, any help would be appreciated thanks.

Loosing root upon recovery?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
I followed the step 1-3 to get S-off on the guide. I flashed a mod but there was a bug so i decided to do a recovery from the back up i made before I flashed the su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip for permanent root. When I downloaded and opened ROM manager It tells me I need to root first. When I open revolutionary it tells me I have S-off already.
Any chance someone can help figure this out.

Hi,
Best suggestion is to run revolutionary again.
This time go through the whole process.
When I run revolutionary it tells me I have S-off already. Shouldn't I be able to use rom manager if it tells me that? It said superuser was not found.
Just try flashing the su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip again you should then have root.
Don't I need to do it through CWM recovery? It won't let me go into CWM because it thinks I don't have root accesss.

update your superuser and binary versions (from market for app, binary update from within app itself) then you will not have problems with ROM Manager
Thank you guys for all your suggestion. I was able to fix it. I download superuser and it didn't work. What ended up working was going into bootloader, going into recovery and it booted it into cwm recovery from there I was able to flash the su file.

Need Help Installing a ROM

I am rooted via Nachoroot. I cannot get into CWM. I have tried the Recovery Installer App - ROM Manager and other methods. All I get is the Android Green Guy with a Exclamation point. I have looked in the forums and cannot find directions on which method I should use to do this.
I am trying to install the Revolver Rom.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks in advance...
Jason
It seems that CWM was not installed on your Transformer. The exclamation point Android is what the stock recovery shows you when it doesn't have an OTA image to install. Try to use whatever rooting tool you tried to use to reinstall ClockworkMod. I have not tried Nachoroot but I guess it must also provide such a thing.
I am kicking myself in the behind! I got it. Thanks.
What was the problem? This isn't happening to me, but so other new-rooters may learn from this.

This kind of problem usually resides in the user not installing CWM. Many tools here for the TF can root your device, but they won't install CWM. You have to run any CWM installer once you're rooted.

[Q]rooting problem

Hello,
I have tried to root my sensation device, I used a guide to do that(forum didn't allow me to link cause I'm a new user), and everything looks fine, my phone says s-off and everything looks alright, however I tried to use titanuim backup, said it requires busybox, installed busybox, says "the su binary was not found on your phone", installed superuser, and tried to update the su binary, and it fails at "checking current install path" and I hit a wall. where have I gone wrong?
also I accidentally hit the SIM lock option on bootloader screen, I don't know what that does, so is this bad? and if so how I fix it.
If you have guessed that I'm a noob, you're right, I just got my first android phone a month ago.
come on people, give me something
reading more on the subject, i'm trying to redo installing recovery described in step 2 here as I said yes when the revolutionary utility asked me to..but the link is dead, so if anyone has another link..
also is it ok to do that? running another recovery..

Perform step2 and step3 in revolutionar s-off guide.
thanks for the answer.
Is that the same guide that I referred to? if so the links are dead and I can't post there yet. if not can you provide a link to the guide you mean.

Yes that page . An older version of recovery is attched on that page. It can be downloaded here.
Now,
1. Copy the PG58IMG file into the Root folder of your SD card (The main Folder of your Memory Card)
2. Turn off your phone FUlly and reboot into the Bootloader/HBOOT screen
3. Press Volume up to Accept when it asks" Do you want to start the update"
4. Press Power Off
5. Delete PG58IMG from your memory card
6. Reboot
Alternatively ,
If you have fastboot and adb setup on your pc then download the recovery from here.
Then flash it by the following command in fastboot
"fastboot flash recovery your-recovery-file.img"
After flashing recovery download the flashable su binary from here.
Put it the root of your sdcard.
Flash it via recovery.
Now you are root.
Note: **** If you get installation aborted while flashing su binary , do toggle signature 3 or 4 times . Then try again ****
oh thank you very much, you've been a great help, I'm now rooted, now onto trying to install a new ROM, god help me
try using the guide on the cyanogenmod website! It's the one i used and the one that seemed the most helpful
I've searched there for a while but couldn't find one, could you provide a link if its not too much trouble?

[Q] HELP Lost root and cannot get it back

Yesterday I rooted my nexus 5 following a guide from teamandroid website for android 4.4.2. Everything went okay and I was able to root it.
Then today I wanted to experiment with xposed framework but realized that I didn't have a recovery when I tried to make a backup. So first I tried installing TWRP through Goomanager but for some reason it would fail after the download. So I decided to install CWM touch trough fastboot. So I installed it and then did a backup. The problem came when I tried to exit. A message appeared and it said "ROM may flash stock recovery on boot. Fix?". I pressed yes, and then it told me something like "Root may have been lost. Try to get it back?" and pressed yes again. I rebooted and thats when supersu dissapear.
I panicked and tried to do the same procedure fro the guide again to get root. I repeated every single step but it wasn't succesful. I thought that maybe CWM was causing the problem so I installed TWRP trough fastboot and did the root process one more time. But again supersu just wouldn't appear back.
I really don't know what else to do. Everything in the stock ROM works fine but I just can't root my phone again. Does anyone know what I can do?
PS: Im not a native speaker.
just flash the latest supersu in your recovery, that is all. did you really search?
