[Q]is it possible to make the led flash. When I receive a text? - Samsung Infuse 4G

My friend has the iphone 4 and is able to make it to where the flash will light up when he recieves a text. I have downloaded a few apparent from the market, but those are meant for phones that have a notifocation light or a trackball.

Read xda news. There is article on this.

Tasker can do it. As well as hundreds of other things.
I used to do it but it's annoying cuz that ****er is bright. If you are clever you can even make it flash or strobe but you may need to combine other market apps into the equation.

How to turn off the button lights?

Does anyone know of an app or a setting to control the touch button lights at the bottom of the screen?
i tried searching for a solution but found none.
I like reading off of the kindle app at night and with 22% brightness and white text on a black background, the result is a perfect experience -- except for the four blinding leds every time I turn the page...
This might also be helpful for those with issues during streaming video (i.e. Netflix).
I apologize in advance if this has been dealt with/is in the wrong place.

That is a very good question and I have the same problem while reading on my phone. I'm going to try and do some research to see if I can come up with a solution.
Try this. I don't know if it works or not yet

lol!! thats great.
Bump for a good question
the light buttons are bright as fkc at night. +1 good question.. probably saves battery too if someone can dev this app.

Install BLN control and check Activate Notifications. The lights will only stay on for a few seconds after you touch the screen/buttons.
Thanks for trying guys. I want to completely disable those bad boys. I know where they are. Don't need a searchlight!

Well you can't disable them. Not even the stock roms let you do that, the best bet is for them to only blink, which is they turn on when you're using them.
Some black tape works lol

Would the touchscreen still work with black/electrical tape? That makes me wonder, but I am lazy and have none on hand to test out.

FLASH

Is there any way that allows infuse owners to use the bright flash that our led bulb produces after the first flash when taking photos ?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
First flash? like a pre flash? if you set the camera to flash on and tap the screen it will light up before taking the picture...
Do you mean as a flashlight? Or what?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
When you take a picture a preflash shoots and then a big and powerful flash shoots, I know there are certain apps which allow you to turn on the pre flash and use it as a flashlight ... but I'm wondering if there's any way to use the really powerful flash as a flashlight.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
TeslaLED will allow you to use the flash as a flashlight but I haven't found any apps that allow you to use the LEDs at their max potential (and haven't looked for any either).
Tiny flashlight+LED app free on market will allow to use the camera led anytime through the app itself or widget.
I dont know if its on the MAX it can yet im sure that thing its bright enough!!
Besides using the LED to its max power for an extense period of time will probably damage it maybe thats why it only max powers for a seconds on the photos, you can see the flash on video recording its not as bright as the final picture flash power.

Dim Softkey brightness? Is it possible?

Is it just me or are the softkeys really bright on the s2?
Well, ive gone on google and tried to find the answer, but seems like there is not a way to possibly reduce the brightness of the softkeys itself.
However, before i give up (i find those softkeys useful, but hard to use at night as its too bright, and turning off the function is difficult to use) I was wondering if its possible without rooting, by using a 3rd party app.
Thanks

That's an interesting idea. The brightness issue made me turn off that light all together (running CM9). I found the light so distracting when using my phone to read a book or something in a dark room at night...
I hope someone chimes in with an idea.
.
Seriously doubt its possible without root.... with root, the only ones i can find just turn them off.. havent seen anything that just dims.
Would definitely say impossible without root, as you need to edit system files to alter hardware functions. I don't believe there is a variable anywhere to edit that though, because I've only ever seen their functions to be off and on with all the phones I've used that have had them. Just my 2 cents, but I'm sure a skilled dev could give you a better opinion.

Darn alright thanks for your posts!
Hopefully a dev could give his $0.02, as i would believe it would make the softkeys more usable throughout the day and night.
i think over time you get use to it. i turned my keys off and i have no problem navigating.

That's true. But I think to me its that little add on that makes everything nicer. However, just my opinion though.

Use the app screen filter. It will allow you to dim the buttons. Not sure if root is needed or not tho.

Didn't work for me either, however, I like the the function of the app for screen brightness.
What rom are you guys on? I'm on AOKP B40 and screen filter worked perfectly. Much easier to dim than with Lux, and back light for keys turned off and on perfectly.

Wont work. The leds used can not be dimmed. They are a two stage light. On/off

I'm not sure exactly how these specific leds work, but I know with store bought leds, you can use what's called multiplexing which makes them flash faster than your eye can see, but slow enough that it seems as if they are dimmer...not sure if there is a way to lower the speed or if you can even make them flash at all (constantly)
You could also maybe look for a night mode from a third party app to change settings at a certain time

That said.. I wonder if its safe to have a an app to lower voltage/amps to these leds.

WEA Alert

So I'm sitting at my desk when all of the sudden my phone starts making this annoying sound like they use for severe weather alerts on TV. I was using a tethering app at the time so the first thing that popped in my mind is that Verizon detected it somehow and fried my phone to get even. But when I picked it up there was a message on the screen advising me that I might die in a possible flash flood that might occur in my area...
Pretty neat, I just hope we don't get them too often, especially in the middle of the night. Here is more info on it:

I believe the stock TW messaging app has some emergency alert setting in it. Im not at my phone right now so i can't tell you exactly what it says.
Same thing here. Cool as Hell

ive gotten this twice since release day. One was for flood warning and the other tornado warning. Im in NYC WTF!!!! LOL scared the **** outta me! The tornado almost touching down in Midtown was one of the craziest things ive ever seen! I just wish we could change the ringtone, its loud and super annoying but I guess thats the point.
is there any way to disable, i dont wanna know if im gonna die :highfive:

i was referring more to the presidential one
I haven't found a way to disable the presidential alerts without replacing the stock messaging app with the apk pulled from an AOSP rom.

You did read the article posted in the OP right? Regardless, badseed posted what likely is the easiest way to avoid these alerts.

Just what I need, the government in my phone.
LOL, that screeching thing went off on my phone a few days ago while I was sending a text (I have since disabled it).
It scared the sh!t out of me, I thought for sure my phone was totally fried......
WTF is a "presidential alert" & why can't I turn THAT off??

My guess would be alerts addressing state of emergency, terrorism attacks, or environmental catastrophe.

i was asking if any mod was made to remove it
Let's seriously not turn this into a political debate. It has nothing to do with one single President. The Emergency Alert System has been around for one time and a lot of the stuff we're seeing in phones now was initiated by Bush.
It's also something that pretty much everybody supports regardless of political affiliation. A national Presidential alert has never been issued, not even on 9/11, and would only be sent out in the case of an incredibly serious natural disaster or attack against the country. If you seriously want to be kept in the dark even if an emergency far worse than 9/11 happens, well, it sounds like you might have some trust issues.
Thread closed
The information on how to disable these alerts is contained within this thread, it's gone political, so thread cleaned and closed.

LED and light manager.

Is it just me, or can nobody else get Light Manager to work properly? I've enabled access to notifications, but despite the fact I set WhatsApp to green and Facebook to blue, they both flash white.
Simply a bug in the app due to a new version of Android, or something more sinister?

Same here only see it all White Maybe Nexus 5 only have White Light?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
No, if you test a notification, the different colours all show up. I'm wondering if the way they have implemented notification access has changed slightly then, or if there is some kind of global override I can turn off....
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
Light Manager has never worked for me. It doesn't matter what color I assign apps on my Note 2, Light Manager just assigns them whatever color it thinks is right.
Give Light Flow a try. The N5 definitely has a multi-colored LED
Appreciate the suggestion, but Facebook and WhatsApp require the paid version to work, and I'm not paying to test it to discover they don't work on KitKat yet.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
You should try Lighflow. See if that works better for you,
well try lightflow ... only get white notification light
I'm a derp. Nevermind.
