Is there a way to get Dead Space to work on the KF?
Amazon had a (HD?) version for a while that works great on the Kindle Fire. I have heard that they removed it at some point.
While it works great MOST of the time, there are some times where it immediately dies and you have to restart it to get it running.

I was able to get Dead Space working using this method in CM7..
1. I restored the stock Amazon Kindle Fire Rom.
2. I bought and downloaded Dead Space (Kindle Fire ed)
3. Boot up the app make sure everything is working ok.
4. Then install and use titanium backup to back up the Dead Space Kindle ed.
5. Flash and Install CM7
6. Reinstall titanium backup
7. Use titanium backup to restore Dead Space (app + data)
Everything worked great for me using this method and I hope this info is useful to you.
I found a way for Dead Space and a multitude of other apps to show in the market. See here:

I have been trying to get Angry Birds Rio installed on my DroidX (2.2.1 -> Rooted -> running Fission 2.5.7) all morning. It downloads fine, but then comes up saying "Application Not Installed." All other apps have installed fine, but I have been having to unmount my SDCard before my Angry Birds or Angry Birds Seasons will update. Hasn't been an issue, but RIO will plain just not install.
I found a on Android Central (cannot link to it because I do not have 8 posts currently) thread regarding the issue and removing the android_secure folder from your SDCard should fix it, but removing the "android_secure" folder from my did not help. I still will not install.
Things I have tried to fix:
- rebooted my phone
- unmounted SDCard after finding the .apk and tried installing from the phone instead of the SDCard
- removed android_secure
- clearing the cache and data from the Amazon App & the market app (figured it couldn't hurt)
After each one of these things I tried to reinstall which involved re-downloading the app through the Amazon Android Marketplace.
Nothing is working.... I figured this was the best place to come.
****UPDATE 3/23/2011****
Last night I received an email from Amazon that said the following:
Hello Travis,
Thanks for your patience. I'm so sorry Angry Birds RIO isn't installing for you on our opening day of the Amazon Appstore for Android. We are aware of the issue and our developers are hammering out a solution.
I will update you in a few hours, and email you a solution as soon as it is available. We were trying for today, but in any case I will let you know.
**Then Again Later**
I have been tracking our problem installing Angry Birds RIO moment by moment today. There hasn't been a confirmed resolution as of yet, but we are working on it.
In the case that the application is no longer free when we get it running, we will be sure to credit your account for the cost. Thank you so much for your patience and for contributing to a solution. Your account is already flagged to be contacted when the fix is complete.
Thread moved to General.
Same problem on a stock Evo 4G.
My wife's reported the same problem with her Incredible but I haven't arrived home, yet, to take a look at it.
It's installed fine on my Droid X, though.
I have 2 OG Droids that I have tried installing this on. It works on one but not on the other. The settings are set to allow non market apps, as I couldn't have installed the amazon store in the first place otherwise.
The one that it worked on is running the stock 2.3.3 rom from perter alfonso.
The one I am having issues with is running the latest bugless beast.
I thought it may have been just the ROM, but I see others are having the same issue on other phones. I also tried installing the cracked apk with the same result. Not sure what to do next.
Same problem on my Droid 2, rooted. Tried uninstalling the app store and deleting the .android_secure and nothing, still won't install.
SOLVED [for me]
I had success removing the smdl2tmp1.asec file from the SD\.android_secure directory.

I don't have anything in that directory at all. I deleted the entire folder even, rebooted my device, and tried to install. No dice!

Thanks for that tip, it worked for me. Been trying to get it working for an hour.
I located the file while my HTC was connected to my laptop...maybe give that a try?
But thanks mkarol

this also worked for me after trying to install by not mounting the sd card as well as trying to get rid of the android secure file. It was also the only way it worked as couldnt get it to work through astro and did this on a rooted Optimus T
Working for in Xperia X10mini. It's fine!!!!
I'm having the same issue. Stock Evo 4G on Sprint and I have no file inside that android_securite folder to delete either.

If you're on Darkys 9.4 try removing or unmounting your external SD card.
Worked for me this morning.
I am having the exact same problem. I have a Droid 2 stock. I even reset, wiped all user data, and reinstalled everything this morning - still no dice.
are you guys trying this from the Amazon Market? it seems to be working fine for me on my rooted Incredible (stock rom)
Exactly as the title says. What gives?
I have free space. Over 300mb
I cleared dalvik cache but didn't work, reboot as well. Anything else I can do?
Lol, I was messing around with titanium backup and now I can't install it no matter what I do.
I'm not sure but I seem to get that with like 100mb free storage on the stock rom. As well as it saying my visual voicemail box is full which I can't even have since I'm on a prepaid plan. Usually I have to uninstall an app just to download an app that is a few hundred KB even though I have way more than enough room... although in your case TB might've caused some issues... Someone else can probably help out more than me though...

This only happened because I had uninstalled and reinstalled TB from the market a few times. I was testing something out. Was going to get TB back onto my phone and be done, but it won't install anymore. Even after I removed a few apps. I have over 400mb free now.

but if I need TB to backup certain apps before I reflash???
out of all the apps I could be having problems with
I tried clearing market data and cache as well. Still no luck. I'm starting to get really scared here. There's a lot of things I need to backup
Even if I sideload the app from my sd card, it still tells me I don't have enough space
I just uninstalled and reinstalled Mahjong Artifacts from the amazon app store a 40mb game WTF???
And TB still gives me an insufficient storage error
so it's only TB? If that's the case then use a different app to backup or even just make a nandroid backup wipe and reflash then use appextractor from the play store to pull apps from the nandroid...

Yes, its only TB. Lol that app didn't work. It would scan a nandroid and then the scan would finish. It wouldn't give me any indication of what apps it found or if there was any I could install. I was trying to find TB through one of my old backups, but it was a no go
Well es file explorer can backup any apps. You need root enabled I'm pretty sure as well, but you can do menu> manager> app manager> select (for multi select), then just select all the apps you want to back up and select backup.
File expert will backup apps, as well as things like androzip, etc...etc...
Or you could go in by hand and pull them individually with Root Explorer. Root Explorer is without equal the go to app to explore, manage and fix things on your device and well worth paying for.
Also, maybe cruise through these links about some of your backup concerns:
- Preparing for backup
- Backup Guide
...and don't forget to back up your sdcard to a computer, maybe your problem is similar to something like what was found here?
Official CWM Recovery 5.0.2.7 ...and once you finish backing up your sdcard to the computer you should format it after working through this issue and before flashing a new ROM.
Probably something silly like leftover files in /sdcard/android/data or something similar...
...i'm just getting off and crashing now, and meant to a while ago, so if I think of something sometime else not on the edge of sleep i'll post it. Good luck.
Edit real quick:
...and the clockworkmod backup is always a good grab:

...instead of using an app to try to fight with the backup image on the phone, use a real computer and the unyaffs tools to open it. You can get whatever you want.
Thanks for the help guys. I'm guessing there was a problem with TB and it wasn't going to have any help getting started again.
Bit the bullet and rebooted into Virtuous Inquisition. Amazing rom with great battery life. You should try it out for anyone who wants AOSPish. Gets better battery than it's Sense cousin Primadonna.
All apps are working again. I will work on getting some of my apps back from my old nandroid when I have time.

This worked for me couple weeks ago.
It's tied into autoupdate for the app. Turn it off in the Google Play Store.

I've tried sideloading several apps to my stock Blaze. I install them by clicking on the app from the file browser. They appear to install correctly (no error message) but I keep getting the same error message when I try to run them :
Sorry! The application _____________ has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. (Force Close)

I then tried installing them with the Sideload Wonder Machine, but the phone has to be in debugging mode to use SWM. I put the phone in debugging mode, but when I attach it to my PC, it requires me to turn debugging off in order to connect to the PC. I get the following message:
Debugging turned on. Turn USB debugging off to set USB connection. Tap OK to continue.

The only options are to turn debugging off or hit "cancel".
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Maybe try Titanium?
I have had some limited success side loading apps using backups w/no compression via Titanium simply by copying and pasting to my KF. I didn't feel like having to buy apps again just after I got my Fire (but now that I'm running ICS it doesn't matter as much lol). I don't know if this will help you out any with what you are trying to do but it may be worth a shot. Make sure you change the preferences and backup location (to find those specific backups faster) in titanium.

Why should you have to buy apps again? Did you make a new google account and sign into that instead of your original one?
When I switched phones, all of the apps I paid for on my prior phone were available for download onto this phone as well.
There is an Amazon app store app. That should get you your kf apps I believe. You can download from the Amazon.com

It was the other way around... I was trying to not have to buy apps again from Amazon's app store for my KF. A stock KF runs a custom themed GB rom and will not let you run the play market on it (which is why it was no longer a concern when I loaded hashcode's ICS ROM on it)
So I was able to work around that by backing up the apps that I wanted on my phone and copying the backups to the KF and pushing what I needed to my KF so the paid apps that I wanted on the KF would validate from the market and run properly (mainly for fpse which won't run properly without validation).

I wasn't planning on rooting it - at least not until after the ICS update and there are some more custom ROMs fully working. I can't run Titanium without rooting it, right?
Anyone else have any ideas?

I don't think rooting alone will prevent you from getting the update. It will just likely break root, so if that is your concern I would go ahead and root it. Otherwise there's not a lot of options.
hello..
i am having a problem in my rooted galaxy note 2
i install apps from play store and from unknown source.. when i restart my phone, some apps stop working and i need to re install them and i loss all data were inside them..
usually that happens in games like cut the rope HD for example, and high graphics games and apps like modern combat 4 from gameloft..
i tried everything but that still happens..
no i didnt install any custom kernal or ROMs
so any idea of what is happening and any fix?

Is their a way to backup specific apps? Example(amazon music, kaspersky). I screw around a lot and break the OS eventually
So that in turns causes me to re-authenticate with said services. Eventually causing the service to say to many authentications of occurred.
Or maybe set a specific setting in the OS?
Currently running 7.1.1 and Tesla.
Thank you for any help,

If rooted TB is the best app for doing backups (incl. data). Without root Helium can also be an option.
So yea, this whole time I've had T-Backup. Haha just haven't played around with it enough. Well I fired it up and it does what I have needed.
Thanks everyone. Just think, if I would have properly done a backup. I wouldn't have to wait 30 days to use amazon music.

titanium backup has an option to make all your backups flashable in twrp but it will only 50 or 100 apps at a time (i cant remeber which but i think its 100) ten after you flash your rom let it boot then boot back to recovery and flash your your apps (there called update.zip) then sit back and let it do it all for you. then it reboot your tablet and just give it 5 mins for titanium backup to finish off and your golden mate
