2.3.4 already has like ~250MB free... then with the zergRush root I could kill off (or optimize) bloatware... and the setInstallLocation 2 ADB trick pretty much overkilled all that goodness by making sure I can absolutely optimize everything.
I was so damn happy to get Adobe Flash and all it's updates (12+MB!) off my damn phone storage... it's now consuming an extremely modest 72KB with the major bulk being consumed off my 32GB SD card.
Google Books is gone (why force that on a phone anyway?!), Facebook's gone (mobile site's better), Youtube/Maps/Street View/Navigator/GTalk and all Google's other essential services are on SD, I was able to move all the pre-installed games to SD (I didn't wanna kill them... I actually like Bruce Lee: DW, Star Battallion, Fifa and Madden).
I feel like I can virtually install EVERY GODDAMN THING and never have to worry about low storage. Up to 157 apps presently, and I've still got 182MB free!
Then there's the already awesome battery life getting MORE awesome (screwed up and left my WiFi on overnight... battery life only dropped 3%!), 720p recording, continuous auto-focus, xLoud, built-in screenshot function, more reliable GPS/WiFi connection, stronger HSPA+... I think I fell in love with my Xperia PLAY all over again
I have 479 apps installed and 120mb of free storage. I have so many apps installed now though, manage applications just force closes when i try to do anything.

Your thread titles tend to be epic. Just saying.
Gah, I want 2.3.4 so bad! I thought they were supposed to implement the xLoud into 2.3.3? I didn't notice a difference at all.
How are you able to move Maps, Flash, Navi and the such onto your SD card? I'm rooted as well.
Does it have something to do with Titanium Backup? Making it a non-system app maybe?

If you're already rooted, all you need to do is get your hands on Root Explorer.
From there, just:
• Uninstall All Updates for whatever you plan to uninstall (Very important step so you don't end up with corrupt leftover data)
• Open Root Explorer and hit the button at the top-right hand corner that says "Mount R/W"
• Go into the system/app folder of your phone storage and you'll see all the things installed to your phone's storage in APK format
• Scroll through the list until you see the icons for Adobe Flash and Google Maps
• Long Press-> Delete them.
• Restart your phone
• Re-install Adobe/Google Maps from the Market.
...for pre-installed apps you won't find on the market (like Bruce Lee), I'd recommend backing up the APK from the system/app folder, uninstalling, then re-installing from the backup.
dude, i did just what you wrote, but still adobe flash cannot be moved to sd... guess i'll be trying apptosd...

Eh... I may be wrong on this call, but I'm pretty sure all forms of apps2sd were made completely obsolete when Froyo brought the natural ability to move to SD without all that extra SD partitioning nonsense you had to do for the same effect in Eclair.
a setInstallLocation 2 in ADB/terminal combined with the natural ability to move applications to SD has done everything efficiently enough such that I definitely wouldn't care to use an app to do the job.
Please excuse my ignorance but,
How is it possible to update to 2.3.4 (mine isn't available OTA) (orange UK) and also root it? Do you have to unlock bootloader, as this is something I don't want to do...

Use flashtool to downgrade to a generic uk 2.3.3 rom, then you can update to 2.3.4 using SEUS. You can root easly now with doomlords 1click root tool.

Bingo. Worked. Took all of 5 minutes to get my internal memory back over 100MB. Rocking.
How does this affect updates?
I hope someone can also benefit from what I do,
for those like me who doesnt know the ADB and coding stuff for moving or doing links related to internal storage..
Link2sd app (free at market)
the app can move and link any user app data, dalvik cache and library file to your sd-ext partition. Can reinstall apps and freeze also, you have the ability to choose which apps you want moved or linked if you are unsure of some apps.
With the help of titanium backup you can convert some(not all, be warned) system apps to user apps and then use Link2sd to basically move the installation to your ext partition, thus saving more internal storage.
works best with DooMLord's kernel's sd-ext mounting at boot.

I believe downgrading isn't even a necessary step (I could be wrong though, depending on how O2 does things.. just trying to save you a step). With FlashTool, you can skip straight to 2.3.4, zergRush root and you're good to go (again, I'd recommend doing a setInstallLocation 2 in ADB/terminal after all that's done).

It functions just like a regular app now. All updates will overwrite the original, and you don't have to worry about the original app+updates stacking on top of each other in your phone storage.

so now my question is if i'll uninstall the game will it delete the downloaded data by its self or i have to do it manually??
coz today i gave my phone to sony service center for software update n offcourse everything is wiped in internal memory... games n apps too..
so now i installed the game again n its downloading all that 450mb data again... so now is it getting double or the previous would have been deleted ??
am soo confused... i dont want it to get double and eat my space.. plz help.
it would have been deletd with the game
its only download 450mb but after extract it will be around 780mb+

So it may work, I've GTA3 installed on my Optimus L7 - the game is laggy on it, so that i need to test it on funbook.
Please Help Me...
Can anyone please help me solve these problems... And I'm sorry if I had posted this question on the wrong Thread
I downloaded GTA 3 yesterday night and I started playing from today for "hours" and finally when I went to the "safe house" to save my game.. I only see a dark picture or a background of some sort.. I can't save my "game" as there is no menu or any texts... any idea why this happens?
One more thing I don't understand is that there is "no sound" in GTA 3 on my phone!! I can't delete all the additional data I downloaded earlier as I simply won't be able to download it again.. So like is there any way to download just the "audio" folder; if so then how can I do that..?
Plz PM or reply me ASAP
Try reinstalling and rebooting your phone.and for the sound problems just go to google and download the sounds.

hey guys .. got my nexus 5 today and installed a sweet rom .. installed TB and deleted all the crap that comes with the GAPPS packages IE Google music ETC and when i did this the phone became un-reponsive and wouldnt load the home screen .. then when i ree-booted it got stuck on the bootloop ..
have google taken these powers away from us now so we have to keep google music ETC
if there is a way around this i would be much appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
It seems you have deleted an (some) essential system app(s) ?
Could you provide a list of what you have deleted? Maybe you have deleted something not related to the Gapps (since the phone boot or work "normally" without Gapps)?
No Nandroid backup or Titanium backup I presume?
Some system apps are safe to delete, others not... Dirty flash your rom should do the trick (wipe only Dalvik cache and cache partition), you won't lose anything and the apps you deleted will be installed again...

Did you delete Google Now, or Play Services? That will cripple the device with stock launcher.
Why would you delete then apps rather than just freezing them?
If you just freeze them, you wouldn't have to do it every time you update your rom, unlike deleting.

Are you sure it's only that? I've deleted them without issue, there is something else..., did you read my post?
You freeze them in settings/apps/all or with Titanium backup (or similar apps)... And always make a Nandroid backup or a backup with Titanium (recovery backup, I mean create "update.zip" ).

Hi all,
I am using lava xolo Q2000 model mobile with android jelly bean in it.
I m used to games a lot, So I have gone for apps which are not from google play. There my mistake strsrts, at that time my mobile performance and all were good.
But later the following problems started,
1. The display just turned off and I can able to sense and hear the application is still running but only the screen turned off, when I am rebooting my mobile it gets OK and working fine - Is this problem on hardware or its OS or because of any third party app installed ?
2. Whenever I switching ON my network connection the mobile itself installs random apps by itself the frequent one getting installed is flappy bird. I keep on unistalling it several times it is getting installed everytime I m getting internet connection - If it was an issue with the virus from third party apps please help me in how to remove them ?
I know there were many android geeks around in this forum, So I am here to meet them by answering and helping me....
Thanks in advance

I cant differentiate which are from android market and what are from outside of it .
I have un-installed most of the apps that I suspect, but few might be still in phone

Are you sure uninstalling them will avoid the behavior completely. please help me . Do I need to Factory reset ?

best way to control is phone is the root acces.
First you should install some avast antivirus. Normally google play checks every application for unwished content.
I do many installs manually without google checking my apps and also i dont use some antivirus, because i feel very familiar with my setup.
Here you can find AVAST apk Wasn't that easy to find without googgle Play... see if it reports you some malware

I forgot to specify one thing,
I was using lookout(free version) for a long time and it hasn't detected anything. But one strange thing is lookout's logo on top left of mobile was green but it turned black and white for few days where this problem persists.
Should I need to uninstall it and then install avast or both in the mobile wont be harm to the mobile right? because two antivirus in same device I don't now what will happen.

Try to install an antivirus . Virus can make this problem .
If you have root access just temporary unroot it .
Or please restore your backup if you had .

All files to get here-->Xolo Q2000 ROOT + UNROOT + STOCK
BUT i explain it to your a little shorter just hold on a minute
OTA(on the air) update:
OTA is a stock rom (also used as an update) released by the manufacturer of your phone. E.g. update Android 4.12 -> 4.22.
OTAs are very unsecure to use as you can update from running system which great chace of getting issues or a fully crashed rom ar in worst case a brick. Cause the update can be affected by installed apps, running processes, wrong executed scripts and so on. If you look on XDA you will find a lot posts of people with phones got different kinds of problems and issues while using ota on a system tahts already in use.
RUU/FIRMWARE --> is a full system image that will be installed via usb cable an a updtae tool running on your computer or a special "Flashtool"
This will work pretty good and safe AS IT RESETS YOUR SETTINGS back to stock so you will not have any errors in most cases and also can restore a phone that crashed before.
No matter if OTA or FIRMWARE (provided files can be identically by the way) its NECESSARRY to install only version fitting your phone type and may be region an carrier/provider. Wrong files will definitely BRICK your phone.
ROOT ist the lowest storage area you can acces. E.g. if you put i file direct on your sd-card its on the root of it. The internal storage is splitted due to different needs of android. On a stock rom many folders or partitions can't be accessed by the user or grant just permissions to "read" files BUT NOT edit or delete them.
ROOT ACCES (or called offen just ROOT/ED) means that you have forced to changes the devives settings to grant user FULL ACCES and WRITE/DELETE ability on every part of the storage in your phone. Thats really powerfull, bacause the most "GOOD" features you can only use if this acces is granted to you e.g.
- DELETE preinstalled but NOT NEEDED apps
- Control network by using a REAL firewall
- Controll all processes on your phone
- using a adblocker
- backup / restore every part of your system/data
- use different file systems
-overclock / undervolt CPU
- MUCH MUCH MORE
BUT its RISKY if you dont know about how to act right and you can easily CRASH your installation or even FULLY DESTROY your phone if you set things that simply will kill teh hardware or delete files needed to get android working
UNROOT (disabling root acces)
and the best of all:
CUSTOM ROM:
Android is open source so every one eho can develope it by pgrogramming may modify/improve it and also add new features. Stock roms are always SLOW/FULL WITH CRAP allow just a few settings ti interface performance and how the device should behave or even NOT BEHAVE. Stocks have in most cases lots of apps preinstalled which are locked by default. So ycant delete/stop them. Means that may be some apps you NEVER USE alsways RUN IN BACKGROUND. That handled like that for systems are force to beeing much slower/laggier/customizable as android technology and the used hardware would provide it. + the user installed preferred apps additionally During long use rom will also slow down more an more. That in best case after a year or may be two you just think OMG i need a new phone for sure. Then your manufacturer tells you LOOK at this all new features... (May be they were just holded back and not related so hardware in many cases) For example my old Galaxy W (from 2011) runs a highly modded, slimmed and customized to my personal needs Android 4.4.2 KitKat rom, as you get with the latest generation phones. Of course the device is old ad has outdatted hardware, but newest android itself runs really good
So to get the best experience from your phone you need to remove all restriction possible. Unlock/root/security flag off so that u can really use what you want and DELETE anything you don't need/like/slow down phone/track and sniff your personal data. every Stock phone knows A LOT abour who you are and what you're going... Of course also a custom rom will need data to work. But at least you can control every single app. Set every permission of all apps or even trick sensor datas to give apps faked data if they should not track you.
As you can read: i really love to modify phones xD

I cant tell you what is affected or not. FULL wipe and installing Stockrom Q2000 provides best chance to get rid of "IT".
I just google how to.
You should backup Pictures, Contacts
You should NOT try to restore any APP data as long you don't know why your phone begaves like that...
EDIT:
If afraid of possible brick, then try factory reset.
If that doesn't help you can contact me and i'll help you flashing stockrom.

playApp
Hi
I am also having the same problem with my xolo q2000
But i know the cause for this is due to the bloatware "playApp" that comes with the phone
Its an imitation of play store
When connected to network its shows notification adds of apps like
Flappy bird
Funweather
Uc browser etc
After some time those apps gets downloded automatically and launch themself
I found apk files for those apps in my sd card/playApp/downloads folder
And there are other folder in sd card like
PlayPay
Playpush
PPlay
Othet folders are
Data/data/me.powerplay.playapp
Mnt/asec-/me.powerplay.playapp-1 inside this folder there is file pkg.apk with app icon
I rooted my phone using eroot pc software and installed Root toolbox app
and uninstalled the playApp.It was fine for some time and then
after one or two days the playApp application automatically installs itself
and the whole problem starts again i tried uninstalling and deleteing all folders
i thought was related to playApp,deleted files in folders including data folder in restricted folders
But the same thing happend again playApp auto installed and installed other applications
One more thing even though it came with the phone its listed as a userapp
and is not found in the phones app manager
Is there a way to solve this plroblem?
This is my first post and i know only few basic technical things that i read from the net and experimented
Thanks in advance
Dear All,
I have Moto G and its 16 GB Memory. I have many HD Games Installed like Robo Cop, Real Racing 3 etc. Now I want to factory reset my phone due to some reasons. Please tell that How can I extract game data. For example I backup the Real racing 3 apk but its size is only 13MB, whereas actuall installed game is 1.6 GB after the updates.
Now I want my whole game backed up (apk and data), and after resetting my phone I want to restore the apk and data after resetting so that I can easily continue playing my games, without downloading again.
Please provide the solution for the same.

Have you ever tried "Titanium Backup" if not then try it will help you. It's a paid app. You can even try many other app. Search the play store by keyword "App Backup" do check in app description that it backs up data too.
And of you want to do it manually then go to /data/apps/ and copy the *. apk you want to backup. Then go to /data/data/ and copy all the folder related to your apps. And lastly on your sdcard do not delete any folder in Android/data/ or Android/obb/ and also take a nandroid backup and backup your SD card too in case the things don't go the desired way.
Extra game content is usually stored under /android/obb on sdcard . You can backup and restore that folder.

Not always. Many of my games have their data in Android/data/.And some other games such as of Gameloft like GT Racing have their data in gameloft folder in sdcard/.
Thank-you for the Response
