[Q] Grand Theft Auto 3 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
I'm running Prime 2.1.1 and Android Market says that GTA3 isn't compatible with the Transformer. Rockstar Games actually mentioned that GTA3 is made for a range of devices, including the Transformer.
What gives? My old HTC Hero is even valid as an installable device for the game.
Is there something I could edit myself? Build.prop or something to make it "look" like a valid device?
Thanks for any help!

Running Revolver. Rockstar upload 4 versions of the game, check the android market and find the correct one.
Anyway, I don't know why but the game starts to freeze when you listen the radio. You can still play but at very slow FPS.

It looks like if you have enabled 3g you get a model number of TF101G and they can't have enabled the app for that device.
There are also two threads in the Q&A section saying the same thing. Possibly where you should have posted yours (questions in general are usally deleted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381529 )

Sorry for this thread.
Heh, my bad. I'm not posting on XDA very often..
I'm sorry.

Thanks that's amazing, I'm very happy for you.
How about letting us know what your model number is set at and what ROM you are running.

i dont know why but my tf always say when I'm trying to download the files that I should check my time and date... DON'T know what I should do..

Works.
Android market has 3 or 4 GTA 3 versions, so yo need to find the one that fits to your device. I'm running Prime 2.0.9 and everything works great.
To those who get error about time - you need to check Automatic time and date in settings, or just change time back. Worked for me, turned 1 hour back and downloaded additional files.
Some missions are hard becouse there isn't a mouse compatible

I tried to set one day befor but this doesnt work. So now i set one hour back and now it works
Dont understand that..

I messed with the clock and not the date, after first try everythig worked.

some bs
ok i had gta3 installed on my transformer the day it come out. i was running android revolution and showed as a tf101 but after i installed prime it was tf101g and i tried the 3g disabler but nothing changed. so i flashed revolver and same thing. finally switched back to android revoluttion and what do you know it still shows tf101g. this is really pushing my buttons.

Titanium is your friend
I have a transformer and a Photon, both should be able to download GTA3. Transformer was running Revolution and the market wouldn't allow me to download GTA. I downloaded onto my Photon, used Titanium to back up the app, copied those files from the TitaniumBackup folder on the photon to the one on the Transformer, then used Titanium to restore the app. Worked perfectly.

I just want to know what it takes to restore my transformer back to tf101. Does anyone know how to do this?

[Q] Get H.A.W.X. to work on Froyo

I downloaded Tom Clancys HAWX and for some reason it will not run on my Droid X with the OTA Froyo update (non-root).
version 3.3.1 loads up and says "This is not an original copy of HAWX" and then closes
version 3.2.03 will load up, it asks you to download the program files either on 3g, or wireless. But after download the program crashes just before reaching the main menu for the game
I have tried putting my phone in airplane mode with and without wireless internet on but I still get the same problems.
Has anyone figured this out?
You didn't buy it, did you? No warez here.

I never said anything about warez... I have a legitimate question that gameloft (the creater) is still trying to solve.
your not alone.. I'm in the same boat as you and have looked several places for an answer, but no luck.

Thanks for the help, Doc.
Let me know if you ever get it solved!
It's a problem with cracked versions of Gameloft games. If you have purchased it, then remove /sdcard/gameloft/games/hawx, run the game, let it download the data and it will work.

[Q] (Q) about (APP) Pinball HD Not Genuine?

Worked Yesterday on my Asus Transformer. I gave it a try this morning and it said it isnt genuine. I reinstalled. Made sure Wifi was on, I have literally tried everything to get this working. I DID pay for it too. Just wondering if any1 out there is having the same issue and could assist me! Thanks!

Only time I have had that kind of thing is when I restored a backup version of it. Reinstalling from the market fixed the problem though so unfortunately don't have a lot more to offer there.
Check if you can empty it's data and it might have saved some data on the internal storage sdcard, if you find anything try removing it, might be under android folder, but no guarantees, just guessing...
Remember to backup before deleting stuff!

[Q] App to remove VirginMobile crapware from Triumph

Looking for an app to remove the un-uninstallable apps that come with the Triumph. I rooted my phone, but have not installed any ROMs. I prefer the stock ROM at this time.
Titanium backup. Just be wary and make a back up of everything first. a lot of un-uninstallable apps are needed for the phone to operate properly. Like my phone needs the stock music player for Bluetooth to function correctly.

+1 on Titanium Backup, I've always used Root Uninstaller but it's getting a bit silly (in terms of ads, hoops to jump through, etc). And I'm pretty sure TB can uninstall anything. Heck, it even has a silent mode.
Thanks guys, I had tried Titanium Backup to first remove AirG chat. It warned of the force removal and I tried anyway. It looked like it was it was going through the motions then rebooted, but the app was still there and even opened!

I don't think that's supposed to happen! Reboot? What the... heck. You have to be rooted to use that app, and it checks for everything else too...
Try Root Uninstaller? Or just using a root explorer (File Expert is a good free one), mounting /system as read-write, and then deleting AirG's app manually? (Or just moving it to the SD card for safekeeping?
I'm rooted so I don't know what happened, I'll try root installer.

Honestly, I was hesitant to try a custom rom and tried using Titanium to remove bloatware, but after backing up my stock image in clockwork and giving TG-Reloaded a try, I can honestly say I never plan on going back. No bloatware, Gingerbread (which adds more than you would think), great support from Wyzor (it's creator), and better battery life. There's really no reason not to give it a try. If you dislike it, just revert to your stock backup and call it a day.
Sorry if this is the wrong place, but could you point me in the right direction on how to root this phone? I just got mine today and would love to remove some of the crap VM puts on here.

I rooted my triumph this weekend using the Terminal emulator method that b-randon14 came up with, I found out about it by watching a youtube video called motorola triumph terminal root easy method. very clear instruction and went off like a charm! Its easy! But back on point, you will need to root your phone and then install titanium backup to access the files and remove the bloatware. I removed all of it with no ill effects and my phone is way faster!
Sorry if posting in the wrong place, but couldn't find any other posts with this, I flashed a new rom and soon as I setup everything . I got

yes, its most likely the rom itself, inside the coding of your phone is a build file which lets whatever your phone is connecting to see what phone it actually is
our device isnt listed as being compatiable with alot of games and apps, even tho it should be
so as you may have seen yourself the marketplace on a pc shows you more apps and games then the marketplace on the phone itself, by editing the build file to make it show as a different device(in ur case a nexus) opens the market on the phone itself to show much more apps and games and such to download, altho all of them may not work correctly alot of them will
ive never run with the miui, but if you want a good rom and like the CM7 line of roms id say check out the G60Style Final, everything except hdmi works of course lol
wifi and bt still disable deep sleep but having them both on should no longer max out cpu or cause reboots
also the best thing for removing stock crapware in my opinion was listed and linked on page 1 somewhere, the stock app removal tool

Same issue and I'm on Revolution HD, so it's not rom related. Maybe just a Market bug. I did notice that if I do apps that I've already purchased then it works fine, but nothing new, not even free apps.

That makes me feel a little bit better. Saved me from wiping and starting over. But am not seeing anyone else complaining about this issue.
Maybe it is a random thing?
exact same for me, running arhd 3.1 and same market version/problem
unable to install any new app, and read that changing, or resetting your credit card might solve it but still looking for the way to do that ..!!
Actually solved it by reinstalling google apps from EOS, so far I managed to install everything I wanted for more than an hour
Might give it a try

Same thing here, running ARHD 6.5.4... It just sucks.

Installing an older version of the market seems to work. Will see for how long though...
I had this same problem recently with my Kindle Fire running CM7. I spent a few days trying different things and I think I finally found a solution. Clearing the app data for just the Play Store didn't help but clearing the app data for the Play Store and GoogleServicesFramework seems to have fixed it so far. Hopefully it works for you guys, let me know.
I really would like to try that but now that I downgraded my gapps, it works perfectly but it won't update automatically now ....
Any clue what this comes from ?....

I've had this happen on Android Revolution HD, Revolver4, and on AOKP 1.6. Now that I'm on 1.7 with Guevor Test IV, Google Play and Market both crash constantly, even with a new gapps install. It's gotten so bad I've almost considered Amazon's app store (not really)
maybe i'll stick with the 3.4.7 version i have for now, at least it is working fine...!!

I had this problem last night when I flashed a new kernel to ARHD. To fix it I
1. Cleared Play Store data
2. Cleared google framework services data
3. booted to recovery and fixed permissions
For some reason just 1 and 2 didn't fix it. I thought maybe it had something to do with the system bloatware I removed but it seems to be fine now.
did the exact same thing and it actually worked as a charm
it seems that the framework is responsible for this bug

[Q] TF101 _STILL_ rebooting after downgrading to honeycomb!

Since Asus ICS update was a gigantic failure for me (Youtube HD videos broken, reboots, etc) I decided to 'downgrade' back to honeycomb. However that DID NOT fix the rebooting problem. And sometimes it doesn't even reboot, it hangs on the bootscreen and does nothing, and sometimes it bootloops or just doesn't wake up from sleep. Just to note I am using the Revolver ROM for honeycomb (fully updated) AND I did not have these problems with the rom before I tried ICS.
Has anyone had similar issues? If so how did you fix it?
Please, my transformer is becoming more and more useless
How did you downgrade to HC? Did you also downgrade the kernel and bootloader?

I rooted my device and used an app that installed CWM.. Kernel is downgraded when flashing revolver and I did install an overclocking kernel from revolver parts. Bootloader I don't know.
Perhaps you should try updating the bootloader? It's just a theory, but I doubt it will make you Tf any worse.

I've got the exact same issue after the downgrading to revolver rom HC. How do you update the bootloader?
Also, I noticed that no problems occur when the device is charging, kind of wierd

Hope someone can tell how to update the bootloader. I was going to do the same thing with an tf101 because of all the reboots but if it dont help I rather wait to see how's it going..
The issue is that something goes wrong when the tablet goes in to "deep sleep". This is the same thing that is happening in ICS.
Now, I've found a temporary 'fix' for this issue. The fix is that you don't allow it to go in to deep sleep.
There is a program called WakeLock (It's on google play, my account is not allowed to post links :/) that lets you do just that.. Open up WakeLock and check the PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK radio button and then tap the Aquire/Release Lock checkbox. Now you're set! The tablet should not reboot.
This has worked fine for me as a solution and my tablet has been running all day without problems. There IS a downside though, your tablet WILL consume more battery power since it doesn't go in to deep sleep.
As a countermeasure to that I used setcpu and a screen off profile that downclocks the CPU to around 200-300MHz and after a full day I'm at 50% battery life (13 hrs on battery), not amazing but acceptable (my usage consisted of having wifi on at all times and watching 3 episodes of community and light web browsing).
Hope this helps!

The tf101 I want to downgrade don't have that deep sleep issue.. It reboots when it's in use, often repeatedly.. And often stuck on bootanimation (eee pad screen).. So maybe I should try anyway..

In the stock firmware on the ASUS site or in the OTA updates, there will be a blob file. The bootloader can be extracted from there with the blob tools (search in the dev section).
I'd make a flashable version, but I suspect that you have a WW TF.
Ok, now this is crazy.... I thought that I was going nuts when after a complete wipe (using SuperWipe script) and re-installation of Honeycomb from scratch, I too still had the reboots!!!
How can that be? The reboots were NOT there before I installed ICS!
Is it possible that Asus updated the firmware in a specific integerated device during the ICS update that is casuing these issues or something? I don't know how else to explain people having the same issues even after reverting back to Honeycomb!
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I do remember hearing that the bootloader was updated with ICS - would that normally get reverted back to the "old" bootloader when doing a full wipe with SuperWipe script and re-installing Revolver (Honeycomb verison) from scratch?
Hmm, maybe the best thing to try would be to try the old bootloader with new ICS? Maybe that will stop the random reboots with ICS too!
Thanks!
No, most roms don't touch the bootloader. The stock roms and the OTAs will flash it. Although I'm not sure how much it could do once the rom was booted. I've noticed a few bad flashes lately, but they are usually resovled by flashing again with a full charge, overnight, plugged into the wall, not the USB port. Give that a try first.

If there is anyway someone could package the old Honeycomb bootloader, i'd be willing to try it! I have been unable to find a way to get back to stock Honeycomb (in order to re-write the bootloader). I'm assuming that I'd need an NVFLASH version of stock honeycomb firmware to get there from here?

Two days ago I disabled the apps "Android keyboard" and "polaris" . Since I use Swype on the tablet and quick office, figured it couldn't hurt to try. Usually I'd been waking up to a frozen tablet or stuck on reboot screen. Two days now no freezes. Not sure if it has rebooted while asleep, but I use it every night for several hours, and since I did that I've had no problems. Maybe just lucky two days. Someone may want to investigate that further. Wifi is set to turn off when screen does. Hope this helps someone.

i have a us transformer with the exact same problems. I went from Revolver HC to revolver ICS back to Revolver HC and the ICS reboot issue is persisting. I thought it was just me, glad to see (for my sanity's sake, not your torture) that it's not just me. I know on my old Captivate, if you used a GB bootloader with certain Froyo ROMs there was bad effects. It is possible it plays into it somehow. I never flashed an official ICS update, but since the customs are based off of ICS official it is possible something was changed. I have tried different Kernels, different Daemon settings etc, and the longest i could go was 2 days with no reboot. Mine does the same thing tho - sometimes it reboots. other times it just hangs on the ASUS screen until it kills the battery. It doesn't do it while plugged in. I have super wiped, re-flashed, restored old nandroid backs ups, you name it i have tried. Any help here is much appreciated as i have started using my kindle Fire as my primary tablet because i am becoming so frustrated with the TF. It has rebooted once while in use while playing a game. The rest is while off. Once li clicked the screen off to put it down to get a drink and it rebooted. Its quite maddening at this point,
I was eventually able to downgrade my bootloader to the version that came with 8.6.5.6 (its the version I had laying around). So, I am now running the 8.6.5.6 bootloader with Revolver ICS - we'll see what happens.
First night was encouraging - over 5 hours of deep sleep last night an no issues... I'll keep an eye on it and report back.
It just makes NO sense how the reboot problem is now present even on Honeycomb, where is wasn't as issue beofore!
I now wondering if ICS either updated some firmware on some device in the TF (wifi chip, bluetooth chip, etc) or that the bootloader might be the difference....
So I now have a Honeycomb bootloader (verify bootloader version by looking at text on sceen after holding vol down + power) and ICS OS. Time will tell....
Can anyone else explain how the reboot problem could cause the issues on honeycomb as well???
Thanks!
