[Q] Get H.A.W.X. to work on Froyo - Android Apps and Games

I downloaded Tom Clancys HAWX and for some reason it will not run on my Droid X with the OTA Froyo update (non-root).
version 3.3.1 loads up and says "This is not an original copy of HAWX" and then closes
version 3.2.03 will load up, it asks you to download the program files either on 3g, or wireless. But after download the program crashes just before reaching the main menu for the game
I have tried putting my phone in airplane mode with and without wireless internet on but I still get the same problems.
Has anyone figured this out?

You didn't buy it, did you? No warez here.

I never said anything about warez... I have a legitimate question that gameloft (the creater) is still trying to solve.

your not alone.. I'm in the same boat as you and have looked several places for an answer, but no luck.

Thanks for the help, Doc.
Let me know if you ever get it solved!

It's a problem with cracked versions of Gameloft games. If you have purchased it, then remove /sdcard/gameloft/games/hawx, run the game, let it download the data and it will work.

Never had a problem on my EVO. Running both froyo and cm6

does anyone have any clue as to what it could be?
P.s. does anyone else notice anything different about XDA's custom dev. template. is it just me?
The market is failing for most if not all users right now. No worries man, I can't get in either

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with gameloft sacred oddessey everytime I start the game I keep getting the force close straight away tried playing on phone and sd card also tried clearing data and reinstalling any suggestions please

Yep, everyone on 2.3.3 has the same problem.
Same thing with Rainbow 6 as well.
I only bought Sacred Oddessey last week so I'm annoyed I can't play it now.
Just hope they fix this problem soon

I've submitted a ticket for both Sacred Odyssey & Rainbow 6 but heard nothing back yet.
I've also tipped off engadget, if these issues hit the online press Sony Ericsson & games companies may be more inclined to collaborate closer in the future and a fix for this may be faster forthcoming.
I'd suggest that more people submit this problem to engadget in the hope that they do article the problem.
Engadget will morph the news so that "Gameloft's games don't work on Android" so one has to make judicious use of the press thing.
I received a reply from Gameloft saying that they've 'resent the download links to my phone'.
Redownloaded from the links but still force closing.
I don't think that they've actually changed anything!
Yep its because of 2.3.3 because i went back to 2.3.2 and it works. I only went back because i was half way through the game!

Do you have an unlocked bootloader? Just flash the rooted 2.3.2 system .img, i did that, i prefer the 2.3.2 rom, it seems faster

I was getting this same issue. It would force close after about 5 min. like clockwork.
1)I went in and deleted the game files/ folder stored on the SD card manually.
2)Then I restarted the game and let it redownload them.
3) I then soft reset the phone ( removed battery with phone still on, then waited 10 sec-- not sure if it's completely necessary) turned phone back on.
I haven't had any issues since. Played the game for about an hour with no problem. I suspect it was a software issue. Also could be Androids OS related. Something like memory/resource management. Nor sure. Also could've been just corrupt game files from my initial download.
Anyhow, hope this helps someone. Helped me.
I'm running 2.3.2.

Yep i did the same as you . I did not like 2.3.3 either, all they have done is added more Facebook crap which i normally uninstall anyway using root uninstaller.

I´m reading here since my first "MyPal" back in 2006 and there never was a problem that couldn´t be fixed by the participating people here. Thanks a lot - you guys rock!
.. excuse my bad english but I´m german
Thread moved to proper forum.
Still no solution?
There are so many apps like Amazon, Zynga Poker and many more missing. :-(
When I try to install via AppBrain the market tells me, that the app cannot be found,
Any suggestions?
Alot of apps are failing to update for me also since this new version. Help. Having to side load via phone ...

Check out the Tiamat Moray thread...someone there has just reinstalled that version and I asked that apk be posted for you.
In case there are more having this problem: I just grabbed market from my Moray 2.2.1.
As stated by niwa2 in the Moray-thread: simply put these two files in your system/app folder and remove "phonesky.apk" from there, that should work fine. Maybe clearing cache and dalvik could be helpful, I don't know.
Good luck!
Jake
doesn´t work
No worky
The market fix listed above does not work... With the new update to the market I am missing a ton of apps.... (everything except the paid apps.)
Would like to go back to the version 1 market if anyone knows how....
EDIT: Ended up returning to 2.2.1 of moray... Old market does not seem to have the problem...
Am I trippin? I saw somewhere that the density hack was causing this. I reversed my Xoom density from 150 to 160, rebooted, and problem seems to be gone. I can update Pandora and everything now.. sry if this was blasted elsewhere.
SO GLAD THIS IS FIXED... Since it comes from the XOOM how to , alot of people probably got this problem. reverse the density. ;D happier days.

[Q] Grand Theft Auto 3

Hi there
I'm running Prime 2.1.1 and Android Market says that GTA3 isn't compatible with the Transformer. Rockstar Games actually mentioned that GTA3 is made for a range of devices, including the Transformer.
What gives? My old HTC Hero is even valid as an installable device for the game.
Is there something I could edit myself? Build.prop or something to make it "look" like a valid device?
Thanks for any help!
Running Revolver. Rockstar upload 4 versions of the game, check the android market and find the correct one.
Anyway, I don't know why but the game starts to freeze when you listen the radio. You can still play but at very slow FPS.
It looks like if you have enabled 3g you get a model number of TF101G and they can't have enabled the app for that device.
There are also two threads in the Q&A section saying the same thing. Possibly where you should have posted yours (questions in general are usally deleted http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1381529 )
Sorry for this thread.
Heh, my bad. I'm not posting on XDA very often..
I'm sorry.

Thanks that's amazing, I'm very happy for you.
How about letting us know what your model number is set at and what ROM you are running.
i dont know why but my tf always say when I'm trying to download the files that I should check my time and date... DON'T know what I should do..
Works.
Android market has 3 or 4 GTA 3 versions, so yo need to find the one that fits to your device. I'm running Prime 2.0.9 and everything works great.
To those who get error about time - you need to check Automatic time and date in settings, or just change time back. Worked for me, turned 1 hour back and downloaded additional files.
Some missions are hard becouse there isn't a mouse compatible
I tried to set one day befor but this doesnt work. So now i set one hour back and now it works
Dont understand that..
I messed with the clock and not the date, after first try everythig worked.
some bs
ok i had gta3 installed on my transformer the day it come out. i was running android revolution and showed as a tf101 but after i installed prime it was tf101g and i tried the 3g disabler but nothing changed. so i flashed revolver and same thing. finally switched back to android revoluttion and what do you know it still shows tf101g. this is really pushing my buttons.
Titanium is your friend
I have a transformer and a Photon, both should be able to download GTA3. Transformer was running Revolution and the market wouldn't allow me to download GTA. I downloaded onto my Photon, used Titanium to back up the app, copied those files from the TitaniumBackup folder on the photon to the one on the Transformer, then used Titanium to restore the app. Worked perfectly.
I just want to know what it takes to restore my transformer back to tf101. Does anyone know how to do this?

market download limitations-dl more than one app at a time?

I used to have a T-Mobile comet. piece of junk phone with 528MhZ processor, but I used to be able to download multiple apps at the same time. i.e. updates for google maps, facebook, and youtube would all download simultaneously. Then I get the Sidekick. I love this phone, except for one thing. market downloads go one at a time. Whenever multiple updates are available, if I click update all, it does them one at a time. Anyone know of a way around this without flashing a rom? I am already rooted and have cwm recovery if that matters.
BUMP. anyone got an answer?
My phone dl more than one on wifi so idk

What he said.
I would suggest turning on your wifi when you want to update your apps.
Even if it does go one by one, is it that big of an inconvenience?
well, i really liked when it would dl more than one at a time. im not near an unsecured network, so wifi isnt an option. i just thought someone might know of a hack. if anyone does, lmk.
