Got Throttled. I got help. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Quick Fix
Just make a new apn and select it and it will work. For the ones that don't know. The PTA apn lets att restrict your speeds. This apn can't be throttled.

At least you put the apn settings in the first post tho

Doesnt work for me.

I followed the instructions regarding the settings and after selecting this apn, I am able to make and receive calls as well as access to the web....does this mean I am good to go regarding the ability to avoid throttling? LTE hasn't reached where I live yet but I am trying to read up on issues concerning it.
I noticed another wrote that "it didn't work"....Does that mean phone is pretty much unusable as far as data and calling....

No if u are able to access web and call u are fine. So when u get throttled just switch to this apn and u will not be. I'm not in a lte area but they got me. So I switched and working fine.

Its easier to just use the APN: phone
You can get HSPA+ with phone, not with wap.Cingular

To be more specific. When I change the apn I don't get a data connection at all. I'm in a LTE area if that makes a difference.

Oh OK I'm not in a lte area but I do get 9up 1down in area's and 5up 1down usually with this apn. Well when u get a fix let me know where its at. Cause im sure I'll b getting lte one day and want to know the correct one

Where and how do i edit these settings?
I got the warning text but it seems i am not throttled just yet.

Does your settings work better than the HSPA+ APN?

I'm trying to change my APN, but I don't have the option of Internet+MMS+, I have Interent or Internet+MMS+SUPL.
Also, what is the Kmart port?
Thank you!

I get same speeds on either.

They got me. The included speed test was on a combination of the phone, wap, HSPA, and standard apn presets. Note I'm running cm7 av3. Had to switch back from av4 because that Rom has no wifi. So yeah those apns aren't doing a thing here in Chicago.

Byrd...thanks for the help...I'm new to android, coming from a 10yr stint with blackberry. as stated, I don't have lte yet...att is telling me I don't have 4g in my area yet either but my phone shows a "4g" icon..go figure...but anyway thanks again for the help and when lte does get here and I do get throttled, hopefully this setting change will work.
Oh btw..I did a speed test and I'm getting 4.5mb download speeds...is that 4g or does it just default to the 4g icon due to my new 4g sim card that I had to upgrade?

The apn worked when I was in a non lte area but when I entered an lte area, I wasn't getting any data signal until I switched back to the default apn in which I was back to yh
Throttled speeds. . Any ideas on how to fix this?

Setting APN to fix MMS issues Bluegrass Cellular Showcase i500

Not sure if this is the correct area to post, feel free to move it.
This is for Bluegrass Cellular Showcase i500. It may also work for other Bluegrass Androids with MMS not sending or receiving.
Once you have installed a custom rom and everything except MMS is working properly. Follow these steps.
1. Open App Drawer - launch voice dialer.
2. Say open A P Ns - should popup Open APNs - select it.
3. Once in APNs - you may or may not have an APN listed - press menu - restore defaults.
4. If you have an APN listed - select it - if not then press menu and add new.
5. You should now see edit access point.

6. Set your settings just as mine are in the pictures above (or text below in case the pictures don't load)
7. Most important, if you want it to save and show up in the list of APNs - DO NOT CHANGE THE MCC OR MNC! IT SHOULD WORK WITH WHATEVER NUMBER IS ALREADY THERE. THIS IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE TROUBLE SAVING THEIR APN SETTINGS, BECAUSE THEY CHANGE THESE TWO SETTINGS.

You can manually enter these settings. Go to the dialer and enter##83786633 then hit the home button, open the dialer again and clear what is there, then enter ##22745927, the SPC code is 000000 by default and then you can select to turn hidden menus on. Finally, go to the dialer again an enter ##3282#, and your in the manual data settings. I dont know any of this info, but if you do, please share

I may have the fix for alot of you Bluegrass cellular customers. In my case when I went to mobile networks under settings, There was no APN setting option. I activated a Verizon 4G Galaxy Nexus to my Bluegrass account. I downloaded "offline SIM APN Database" from the Play store. His app lets you input the apn settings even though it doesn't show up in settings. I used all the settings as listed on this thread, but like in my case I had no place to input them. Once you dowload the app (it has to be the PRO), select USA and Verizon. FYI You MUST delete all other APN presets in order for it to work. The app creator is Robert Soult. He is THE MAN!
I just wanted to let you know thanks for this! This helped fix my phone. And I also wanted you to know, I used this to make a script that fixes many MMS problems for Bluegrass Cellular. You can find it here...

Have you attempted to put the correct APN settings for your device/carrier that way its pointing in the right direction? I know on certain ROM's the APN settings are not correct and you need to modify them.
Well, I've gone into the settings and there are "Rogers", "Rogers Tethering", and "Rogers WAP". And they each have a long menu for themselves, with a whole bunch of changable settings. Does anybody know about this?

Network Mode
Has anyone had any issues selecting the Preferred network mode?
There are 2 options, LTE/GSM/WCDMA or GSM/WCDMA (which is installed as the default/preferred network).
APN settings ltemobile.apn has been selected and settings are good, but when I select LTE/GSM/WCDMA as the preferred network it reverts back to GSM/WCDMA so it seems I cannot get on to Rogers 4G/LTE network.
The rom installed is the Unofficial Liquid RC2 [9-28-12] from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848118
Any feedback would be appreciated
Thanks

Intermitent Data on AT&T Reward: Invite

Hello I have been having a problem with my One plus on my network. Its been taking a while for it to connect to data when accessing my phone on the fly. An example is that if I where to start streaming music from Spotify, between songs it would take a good 20 seconds before being able to start up the next track. This has been happening in all applications.
Im using 4g as my preferred network type, att lte (pta) as my APN,
it does find 2 different att networks when searching for "available networks" but im not sure what the difference there is between the two and there's no extra information on them

Possible Fix
I don't know if this will fix your issue, but I have had a similar problem and it fixed mine. Try resetting your default apn settings in Menu>Mobile Network Settings>Access Point Names. From that window click your menu option again and it will come up as Reset to Default. When you do this it forces your phone to shut off mobile data and re-access the mobile network again. It can take up to 60 seconds for this to complete. Let me know if this helps.
If you live in Washington Baltimore area at&t reports that there is lte data connectivity issues at the moment.
By the way for your apn it should be
1. Name of the apn (anything)
2. Under apn type in phone
3. Mmsc should be: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
4. Mmsc proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
5.
Try this make a new APN
Name: ATT LTE
APN: pta
MMSC:*http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication type: none
APN type:default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri,internet*
APN protocol :IPv4/IPv6 (this setting experimental and is optional)*
(make sure NO spaces after commas)
BEARER: LTE (default is unspecified) play with this one..*
CLICK MENU button and SAVE settings!!!!
STILL NEED STOCK APN-- in APN TYPE:MMS --this helps to insure you get mms better
Hope it helps you can play with the BEARER: LTE
This help me on my Nexus 5 and a friends Note 3
5. Mmsc port 80
6. Mcc and mnc leave alone
Apn type should be : default, supl, mms, hipri
7. Apn protocol should be ipv4
---------- Post added at 02:14 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:13 AM ----------
For number 2 apn name is: phone
2nd way to get spotify to work better.
I know you may want to be on LTE but if you go back to 3G it will help as will. If are on a ROM that has an LTE toggle turn it off if not do this and see if it works. You would only have to drop back when using spotify. But the above APN should work as well.

First of all what device did you have before the OPO? Second if you came from an iPhone (lol which I hope you didn't) you'll have to get a new SIM card. If you didn't very the IMEI with AT&T I had a similar issue although I was coming from Nexus 5 when it showed 2 networks so I had to get a new SIM card and they have to "provision" and/or send a better signal to the OPO. That fixed my issue and you APN should be automatic but by default it gives you 7 to choose from. Myself I'm using ATT LTE pta and have no issues after switching SIM card and having them "provision" my device. But network operator/available networks should be automatic once you do what I did without having to switch it. Good luk bud!
FYI, not sure if it's dependent on the market of the USA you're in, but I've never gotten the "AT&T LTE" APN to work with any of my Android devices. I've always used the "AT&T Phone" APN. That works flawlessly for LTE signal on AT&T. Again, I'm not sure if you need to switch this depending on your region/market. I'm in the Metro Detroit area.
I've confirmed this with an HTC One X and LG Nitro HD. My last Android phone was a Samsung S4, but I don't recall what the default APN setting was for this phone. I just came back to Android from an iPhone5s and I'm loving it.

Also, the 4.4.4 update arrived today for me and now the Mobile Data menu says "LTE Preferred" instead of "4G Preferred". I'm sure it made no difference in signal but just a menu text change. Also, the status bar at the top now says LTE. Before it used to say 4G, which we all know was actually LTE.

Flash Verizon S3 to Total Wireless S3 - APN settings

Hello,
I am looking to move my Verizon S3 to a Total Wireless plan. I cannot seem to find any APN settings to enter for it to work on Total Wireless.
Honestly, I cannot seem to find any info on re-purposing a Verizon S3 to a Total Wireless S3 phone. The only difference between the two versions are that the Total Wireless version does not support 4G.
Any suggestions on how to do this so I don't need to go spend $250 on another S3 from Total Wireless?

Have you confirmed the phone will work on there network?

No, it won't work according to their page because it supports 4G. Hence, why I need to flash it to deactivate the 4G so that it can be activated. Same kind of thing to get a Verizon phone to activate on Page Plus, etc. Just can't find any info to do it for Total Wireless.
It will not work on the Total Wireless (sister company) network because of 4gLTE. It will work on Straight Talk. Straight Talk uses the Verizon tower to continue support for the BYOD. I have my phone on that network right now with everything working. I am running a custom ROM rooted so I can place APN's. Im running PAC-ROM, came from Mastamoon's CM. Not saying Mastamoon's CM wont work, I just decided to switch my ROM.
Turn Data Roaming - On
Preferred Network - Gloabl
System Select - Im on automatic
CDMA Subscription - RUIM/SIM This is a standard mandatory change on LP Roms with the S3)
APN, follow my link below for my notes.

Thanks, but I'm well aware it won't work on Total Wireless without flashing or changing settings, hence the reason why I posted the thread.
I found someone that can do it, but wants $60 to make the Verizon S3 work on Total Wireless.

Never found anything for this. Anyone have any ideas?
I would try to query different areas of XDA (of course, that applies to your phone) as well as other forums like Phandroid, Android Central, etc...
Remember that when you query, use 1 or more keywords (sometimes you will find your lead/answer with just 1 or 2 words) and be sure to leave out the common words/letters (for example: a, or, and, the, etc...) will provide you results that can have one or more of the commons only. This also goes for search engines like Google and others.
Here's a little fun fact. When you query, using "quotes" on one key word(s) will emphasize the "quoted" word(s) in your search results. This works probably half the time (give or take).
I hope this helps!

Do you know what the name of the app is for Straight Talk? I believe they are all run by the same company.
Someone on reddit helped.

Pandora will only work on WIFI

Hello everyone. For some reason my Pandora will no longer work on my T-Mobile network. 10 hours ago, it was working just fine. I currently own the Samsung S7. I have uninstalled the app, reinstalled, clear cache., everything. When I attempt to run pandora all it does it spin the wheel on the top right corner. It will show me the cover for the current song attempting to play, then it will just automatically skip to the next song. As soon as I turn my WIFI on, it will start playing music. I have Spotify and I have no issues with such app. I have also attempted to install older versions of Pandora and still no luck. There is no app killing the process, and I do not have power saving mode on. My Access Point On my phone is grayed out so I cant make any changes. And as I stated above, I have done no changes to my phone settings, and it was working fine 10 hours ago. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
i am having exact same problem
Same problem here too.
I was just about to ask this damn question. Slacker works yet Pandora just sits there stuck and tries to cycle through other songs.
I hope this is fixed soon.
Pandora has been having issues today. People have reported it across Social Media and Reddit. Some say it has been resolved, but I cannot confirm. I know it was acting up a lot during the day for me.
I am experiencing the same issue. I hope they fix this soon.
Go to settings> mobile networks>access point names... create new apn .. Apn protocol needs to be Ipv4 instead of Ipv6

That's interesting. I went to check it out again but accidently forgot to click "ADD," On the top. When I went down the APN actually says Ipv6. But when I click on ADD it says ipv4 already. I wonder what is causing this.
EDIT:
(I'm on TMO) When I go into the APN it says Tmobile US LTE. The APN protocol inside the Tmo says APN : IPv6 and the roaming says IPv4.
What I did was create a new "Profile," I suppose and changed both to IPv4 and it worked instantly.
I think I got confused because I kept forgetting to click "MORE," On the top right and click save. But yeah this fixes the problem. Thank you.

Thank you. It work for me creating a new one. What I dont understand is. I have had this phone for nearly 2 weeks using the deafult Access Point with no issues. Now all of the sudden, I have to create a new one. Something is not right. No problems with my wife's S5. I mean, I am glad is back to normal. But why?
just had to do this on my phone also. new ver of pandora worked but I use an older ver of pandora and it would not work until I changed to ipv4 from ipv4/ipv6 setting.
Verizon, motorola razr m, cyanogen 12.1 mod.
