Lots of failed txt on LTE (SF) - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Seems like once SF got lit up with LTE i been getting a lot of failed txt and double txt msgs. Even though it fails it seems like they are recieving them as well. This is getting really annoying. Anyone else getting this?

I'm seeing this as well.

I have had this happen in Chicago (suburb of Chicago really) also. It is really bothering me.

same thing in southern california

Call the 800 # Att&t and make sure you are "provisioned" on the right plan.. this happened to me about a month ago....Don't bother with the fools at the store.. call the 800 number instead.. Hope it helps..

what exactly is "provisioned" ? seems like it was working fine before lte

Anyone find a fix yet? AT&T wants me to switch out simcard and possibly even the phone, rather not since i dont think its the issue, but its the only options to a solution they are giving me

Do any of you guys have an active Microcell in your place? If so then that is most likely the problem. Check out the ATT website, because it is a known issue that usually ends up with router issues.

I'm having this problem in Ohio, non-LTE area. Just started this week. A lot of messages seem to be going through when 'failed'

I am having the same issues in the bay area. My lte sometimes shows up and sometimes it doesn't. Recently I have had no data connection at al,. cannot connect to market or pandora. I have had to restart my phone a lot of times. Hope they find a issue to fix this..

I see this in DFW
Usually when trying to text and coming off wifi. I have seen several double incoming texts. I usually just long press the message bubble that failed and hit resend and it goes right through.

Huh, I haven't had this happen yet, but I'm not using stock rom.

[Q] Reception Problems

okay guys so I just switched over from the Galaxy S to the S2, Skyrocket LTE
I had full reception at my house with the Captivate....Now, with the skyrocket I still have full reception....but with a catch
I'll have full service...then all of the sudden it will drop to 1 bar and be unable to send any texts. (Message not sent error). Then, like 45 seconds later it will turn back up to 5 bars and ill get texts.
the time that its off and on seems to be consistently repeating and switching back and forth between 45 second intervals. Also, sometimes ill get all my texts together (9 unread) out of nowhere with time stamps from 5-12 minutes ago.
I'm running STOCK everything:
Android version 2.3.5
Baseband: I727UCKJ2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.11
I wanna root my phone but I wanna make suree there isnt a problem with it.
I think its also important to note that this problem is ONLY in my house and around my house. not anywhere else.
Any ideas on what could be causing this, or any solutions? anyone else have the same problem?
I'd recommend reporting your thread via the upper right link to have this moved, you got it posted in the wrong phone section. I'd try to take a stab at helping ya but honestly it would just be a guess...
Thread moved from AT&T Galaxy S II forums to the Skyrocket Q&A forum...
anyone have any idea?

There have been some problems reported on the LTE network, but the biggest problem was/is.. people not being able to make calls when the network mode was set to lte auto. Depending on where you are, you might want to check the coverage map for your location... and call your carrier.

Thank you, do you have any links regarding the problems reported? I'm in LA, I dont think we have LTE here yet. Also the problems seem to happen only at my house, not even like 1 block down. I know I had full coverage here with no problems on my Captivate. It's just this phone, reception drops to 1 bar, then 5 .... like every 10 seconds, keeps going up and down, I gotta time when to send my texts so they go through lol.
I want to say lte is in testing for la. That could definitely cause issues if they are messing with the towers. The same thing happened to me while we were in Vegas...a few days later everything worked ...including LTE which Vegas previously did not have. Its also worth checking to make sure ATT has u on an LTE plan. Its been documented that if they have not done that it can cause some issues

the captivate is not a 4g or Lte phone...the phone is not trying to switch between 3g to 4g...i think thats the problem with your SII..trying to change from H+ to Lte without succes in an area doesnt have Lte
The only links that I have seen, are for rogers here in Canada.. don't know if that would be of any help to you? While my signal strength is all over the map, I have never had any problems making or receiving calls.

I went ahead and called. It seems the problem is, as everyone suspected, the phone trying to switch from H+ to LTE. the 4G logo seems to change from 4G to 4G (LTE) when it drops reception. Will rooting / roming help stop this? Are there any ways of turning off LTE until they get it fully working?
With regards to the quote above, I currently have Unlimited Data since i got grandfathered in. The guy at the ATT store told me I dont have to change my data plan and I'll keep my unlimited (so i did that). He gave me a new sim which he said "will help give you better reception". Will I still have issues because i dont have the new data plans? I want to keep my unlimited data.
**EDIT**
Just checked on ATTs website and I have "LTE UNL SMT VVMT" data plan.
Thanks in advance for all the feedback guys!
Also, I think its important to note that even if I connect to WiFi, the problem is still there, reception drops and goes up consistently. I've missed countless phone calls and have had to resend a vast amount of texts. I get all my texts together every 4-6 minutes. PLEASE help =/
Did you ever get this resolved. I have the same problem at my house, calls drop frequently and data seems to be not available at times.
Y did u resurrect this thread lol, a new post might have been better. None the less, try the telus KJ3 radio if u don't have LTE in your area, it has really good voice quality, and consistent data rates. If u do have LTE use the new UCLA3 one

Same here... LTE is dead and 4G is cutting in and out.
Tried several different radios and get the same result.
One of my friends in Florida texted me awhile ago complaining about LTE cutting in and out. Apparently it was just a fluke. My LTE here in Indiana is fine.
My LTE here in Dallas is horrible right now. I can't even run a speed test on it.
I have restarted phone, shut down, even battery pulled and nothing.

Conway, AR here... I'm having terrible connectivity on HSPA+. I was actually about to change my radio. I'm using the note radio but until today I never had a problem with it. seems like I'm not the only one with issues.
Call AT&T and get added to the problem list. The more people who report it, the higher the severity it gets and the more people they assign to fix it.
Been on the phone with them for 45 minutes. They reset their end. had me check my apn's (fine of course), factory reset (pain in the a$$), and now they told me I can stop by a store and get a new sim card. They claim to have no issues in the area. kinda a pain really!
*by lack of connectivity pretty much I cant access any webpages. not even sure if I can get an mms.. kinda sucks. I doubt it has to do with the note modem I have been using. I'm flashing the new leaks modem UCLD2 to see if that helps.
Similar as above, woke up and data was being ridiculous. Full signal with LTE but I had no data service. Couldn't MMS, surf, etc.
Just outside of San Antonio, Texas here.

I would not have done a factory reset cause that has nothing to do with it. If your service was fine yesterday and is crap today, it's their network.

Curious what radio and rom are you using? I find it odd that we are all having connectivity issues. They told me they don't have any problems with the network in my area.
Yeah I'm in Dallas and LTE is barley functioning. Took about 20 minutes to get to this thread (oh how I wish I was exaggerating). I don't even want to guess how long its gonna take to post this once I'm done typing xD

Ok, so here's what I did...
When I started having the issues this morning I was on NexusMod Beta 3 with the UCLC5 modem. I then downloaded the new modem UCLD2 and flashed it... Still no good. so I called AT&T (see brief post above)... then I figured I'd try a new rom. I downloaded the new Sky ICS UCLD2 base followed the instructions there (even reflashed the UCLD2 modem). Still no luck so I reflashed the UCLC5 modem. Now I have connectivity again. I'm going to be watching it closely over the next few hours. Not sure if this will help anyone but It's so far working for me.
My friend at AT&T just texted me, issue resolved.

intermittent data problem

Have any of you guys had a problem with data not working, like when you open your browser and it cant connect? I just started experiencing this. What I have been seeing is the browser will not connect, but I still have full bars and 4G icon. So I hit the refresh button on Chrome right away, and it connects. One time, this morning, it wouldnt connect at all, so I hit airplane mode, on then off, and it instantly connected again. This has happened yesterday and today. Im on Straight Talk, using RUXLF3 modem(just switched to UCLF6 to test...doing same thing).
Heading to bed, ill check back tomorrow. Thanks.

keep an update on this, I'm interested in possibly switching to straight talk pending if the new iphone isnt compatible with tmobile since my local carriers uses their frequencies. Savings with straight talk would be nice, although I can jump to any other carrier and use the discounts below

verizon 23%
at&t 23%

I have Straing Talk for two months. The data connection was good at the beginning. But I cannot connect to the internet or it's very slow since two weeks ago. Based on my research online, there are many other consumers have the same issues. I am in NJ. I am thinking to switch to other carriers if the problem is not fixed soon.
I have the same data issue as others on straight talk. When it hangs I just uncheck use packet data then recheck it and that gets data back online.

I check in here too ... Exact same problem with data not working all of a sudden .. I was thinking apn settings at first ; data proxy or no proxy ... but today happened either way !!! ...
Bummer, I am in central Ohio, and I was thinking of switching from ATT to ST BYOS with their ATT sim.
I am curious to see how this unfolds.
It sounds like flashing a tmobile radio and going to tmobile flat rate experiences intermittant data issues too?

Had Verizon push me a Hybrid PRL 13032 from 15192

Well in San Diego I get crappy signal at the base I'm at with the lack of towers, I had the latest PRL which was iirc 15192.. And the girl at Verizon pushed 13032 for me to my phone,
Why did she push it: Cause my lack of signal, and I was getting texts last night about roaming and connecting to Mexico when I'm 20 miles away from the border. Phone didn't do this in PA where I got it and now in S.D... so it was a geolocation issue.
But so far 13032 helps out a lot with me. I can sit in a pretty much a dead spot in my room and send texts now. Sending texts hasn't failed yet. Phone calls haven't tested. Will try that tonight

That's a odd list of difference in PRL's. None of the ones I've ever had don't reflect that documentation. I just called them again and the 13032 one is the best one they can push for me. Me being 25 miles away from the Mexican border isn't help.
I guess the Galaxy S3 is really sensitive to switching towers cause nor my Thunderbolt/ReZound switched to roaming and I'm in the same area... and they were both PRL 15192. And as long as I don't text when I get the stupid Welcome to Mexico messages, Turn Off/On my Radio and reconnect to Verizon I'll be fine.
A Big pain in the butt, but if it works for not showing international texts I'm fine. They even flagged the account per-say to make sure If it does happen I'll just get credited for it on the bill

[Q] Constant Loss of Signal (Sprint)

Is anyone anyone else constantly losing and regaining signal? I just noticed it once I got home from work. I'm unlocked and rooted. I updated the PRL and profile. I noticed the signal lose after this, but I wasn't paying much attention before I got home.
Anyone have any advise before I RMA this thing?

I have experienced random signal drops, even when I have full bars. It might only happen when it's switching between LTE/HSPA, but I haven't really payed attention.
Sprint is doing a lot of backend tweaking to support the Nexus 5s. Lots of performance changes hour by hour as they try and set up the network to allow unlocked Nexus phones.
First time allowing a phone on their network that's not sold them so these are all part of the growing pains. Just keep giving Sprint productive feedback so they can iron out the issues.
I went to the online chat and the guy apparently "refreshed the network and fixed the glitch." I thought he was full of ****, but I haven't lost bars yet ^.^
Edit: never mind, he was full of ****...

I have been having the same problem at work and I can trace it to switching between network types. LTE to 3G to 1x. At home I'm good to go. I think it may be because Sprint installed a micro cell in our building and it's not LTE compatible.

Might just be a not so great radio software/firmware at the moment. Most likely future updates will make it better. Now, that doesn't help you in the interim but that's most likely it.
my worst fear.. LG's are notorious for dropping signal. I know this because my old LG Optimus G did it, and many others had this problem as well. You can google or look at my old posts.
I ran a Network Signal Pro log last night and it was a constant signal/no signal. Not sure if it was just voice or voice and date. I have attached it, if someone who knows how to read that better than me could look at it that would be great. I'm running another log right now, will be 60 minutes with a 30 poling rate. I'll post that later. The signal is pretty weak since I am in a hangar at an airport. So we will see how it is.

Why should any "tweaking' be required? GSM networks have let on all phones for years. It would seem that once Sprint allows a phone on the network, it should be in the same position as a GSM network with respect to phones that it did not sell.
Also OP, do you mind providing your general location?
Here is the next log. Never lost a connection.
The only difference I see here is EVDO A at work vs EHRPD at home. Wonder if that is part of the issue?

Other side of the country which makes me nervous that it's not a sprint issue - I'm in Detroit near campus martius and still having similar issues.
it isn't only Sprint, it happens in Rogers and Fido in Canada as well. So I believe it is LG

I feel it may be a sprint issue only due to it constantly losing connection of EHRPD but it being fine now that I on on EVDO A at work. It is the same radio and antenna for EHRPD and EVDO A, right?
I'm going to Salt Lake City this weekend, I'll have to see how it preforms there.
