[Q] [i9023]Troubles with 3G on Brazil with Kwiboo's ICS v3 - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
first of all I wann to apologize about my english if i commit some mistake.
Now, here we go. My Nexus S SCLCD (i9023) is running the v3 version of Kwiboo's ICS and I'm having a problem with 3G:
I'm using the 3G connection and it falls to EDGE (cuz' signal problems or any other ****). Ok. When it will back to 3G (HSDPA) the connection stop (the signal of connection (3G por HSDPA or E to EDGE)) disappear from signal bars. Before the Nexus S I have a Motorola Cliq/Dext with a problem like this and the problem was the radio version.
Someone can help me? The EDGE speed is killing me kkkkkk
My mobo operator is Tim (Telecom Italia Mobile) and use 2100 MHZ for 3G and 1800 MHZ for EDGE.
One more time I wanna apologize about my english.
Thank, you.

[Q] I'm not getting 3G on my phone, any help?

Hi, I have a problem, I recently got a 3G Data plan for my phone Motorola Defy MB525, but I cannot get 3g to work properly, only EDGE, I setup the Access Bridge(I guess that's the name) but the connection it's really slow and it's only EDGE (I get the E symbol on the upper part) I was talking with the guy that sold me the phone (I'm on El Salvador, Central America) and he told me that the problem is that according to some info on the web:
3G Network HSDPA 900 / 2100
HSDPA is 900/2100 while the connection that I got it's 850 so that's the problem, is this true? there is no 850 HDSPA connection on this phone? is there any way to flash it in order to get it? I'm really confused since this is the first time that I get a 3G phone, thanks in advanced, have a nice day!

[Q] Use Xoom 3G in 2G band ??

Hi
I decided to buy a Motorola Xoom
but i have 3 question
if i buy Xoom 3G version :
1.can i unlock & use my own sim (operator support 2.75G=EDEG)?
2.can i use EDEG 2.75G (no 3G) ?
3.can i Send SMS by this sim cart (2G band)??
Thanks All and sorry for my Bad EngliSH :X
If by 3G you mean the Verizon CDMA Xoom (MZ600), you cannot use EDGE or any other GSM-based networks.
If by 3G you mean the soon-to-be released UMTS Xoom (MZ601,MZ603), you can use EDGE on any network.

what about SMS and VOICE on 2G band ???
i would have thought motorola would have or even did put n a radio that supported both GSM & CDMA bands.

3G not working. Just GSM on CM7.1 or Defy+ ROM

Hi, I bought the defy about a month ago. I bought it in south america. I live in Italy, so, when I came back, and tried to connect with my phone to the 3g network it didn't, just the GSM (the little G on the top). I'm currently using CM 7.1, but with the Defy+ ROM it did the same. Now here's a strange thing: i searched over the internet and find out that with the Defy baseband I could change the band for the Italy one, but, I'm vodafone, and the network with Italia RT on the baseband says Emergency calls only. So I used the International RT, and it worked. I thought it may be the device, so I inserted a TIM chip, but now instead of GSM I get EDGE. WTF?
I know vodafone uses 900/1800/2100...any ideas? It is possible that because I bought it elsewhere I can not connect to 3g in europe?? (even if the defy's manual says it works on Quad band GSM with GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz in all regions)
Dual band UMTS with HSPA+/HSUPA (850/1700/2100 MHz in the USA, 900/2100 MHz in Europe, and 850/2100 MHz in Australia, New Zealand and Thailand)??
Thanks for the help!!
Please, help me get my 3G back!
No one can help me? Even a hint would be great.
Thanks

Use baseband switcher dude

As I said before: I used baseband switcher, but it doesn't change anything. I wonder if the 3G fixes on other forums are the same as baseband switcher

for 2G networks, Edge and GPRS are the data connections available.so G is for GPRS not GSM. E is for Edge (both E and G are GSM 2G). some networks have GPRS and Edge depending on the location, some only operate GRPS, it depends on the priority network planning etc..
when you tried different SIM cards you used different networks and thats why you have G or E, depends on whats available for that network in that location.
as for 3G, what country did you buy your Defy?
italy has : 900/1800 for GSM and 2100 for 3G/UMTS
south america:
-brazil has 2100 and other bands for 3G/UMTS depending on region/operator
-other countries in south america have no 2100 but only 850/900/1900
good article here on wikipedia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
sadly the 3G radios in most phones are carrying one and not all frequencies so your device is as small and cheap as possible.

Does that mean that even if I use baseband if my phone doesn't have the 2100 will not work in 3g? I bought it in colombia. Thanks for the answer btw. There's any mod, way to give my phone the 2100 frequency? Maybe changing a hardware part? O just I should change the phone? If I change Rom does it do anything? Sorry for all the questions

In the box says made in brazil. Don't know if that's of any help. Any way I can change the 3g radio??
changing roms or baseband is of no use unless you have correct radio. did you use the phone in colombia? did 3G work? if 3G worked in colombia it will not work in Italy, if thats the case i think easiest is to change your phone if you want 3G, not sure if anyone tried to mod radio.

Yes it worked there. Well, thank you for the help, I think I'll keep this for a while, but at the end I'll have to change it. I'll try to ask if maybe some other company use the 850 or 900 here also for 3G. I think, if the topic is solved. Thank you nolimizz.

No 2G - radio problem? etc?

Hello everybody,
during summer I subsequently move between the city with 4G and a rural locality where only 2G of my carrier, BitÄ—, is present. There were no problems during the first month (I used Chroma), but after Multirom usage (when kernel is replaced) I get no signal in the rural area. Once I reach 3G/4G-covered are, everything is OK, though.
But there are some mystics about the countryside area - the phone can`t get any signal even of Omnitel (4G) and Tele2 (3G) at all! Every other mobile appliance works fine here, so it`s not a cellular network fault.
I reinstalled stock ROM and radio back in the city, but it gives THE SAME RESULTS in 2G area.
What could be the problem? And which way would be the best to solve it?
Sincerely, thanks
hello same problem for me...

[URGENT HELP] 2G/No signal on my Nexus 5

Hey guys,
So my Nexus 5 stopped working the other day, and I sent it for repairs. It's come back now and I got a new SIM. Airtel 4G here in New Delhi, India. The problem is, it will only show me a 2G connection/no signal at times. I don't know what to do. The SIM works in other phones perfectly well. I've tried going to *#*#4636#*#* and changing to WCDMA only. Doesn't work. What is the alternative solution guys?
The phone was bough in the USA but before it got repaired, 3G worked flawlessly. So at least that should work, if not 4G.
Thanks,
Crazysah
No one has had this problem? Or no one knows a solution?
Hi, Airtel as I see operate in 2G (GSM, EDGE), 3G (HSPA+) and 4G (TD-LTE band 40). But Nexus 5 (USA model) D820 doesn't support TD-LTE (band 40), so for sure you can't connect to 4G. But 2G and 3G should be ok. You can reset network settings and check again.

Yes. 3G should work at least. But it isn't and that's the problem. Before repairing it, it used to work with my mom's Vodafone 3G connection. What's the solution here?
Can you try to restart and after that change to "GSM auto (PRL)" from *#*#4636#*#* menu? Are you tested other device with this SIM in the same location ?

Tried that. With no luck. I changed it to GSM auto (PRL) and stayed on that menu. Still showing E with full signal strength.
Any idea guys?
