I'm very curous about this battery for Desire HD. From my experience, 3rd party batteries are generally frowned upon because they usually either
1) Does not contain the advertised charge (mah) amount
2) Does contain the advertised amount of charge but the battery spoils fast, and would be unable to hold charge properly after a few months of usage
3) Heat issues, etc, safety issues in general
It seems like many people in this forum have already got the battery and would like to know whats it like so far. my current original DHD battery has already semi gave way after a year+ of usage, it no longer hold the charge proper and I can only charge up till 60+% before it jumps straight to 100%, as well as battery level jumps erratically.
I went to check, seems like the mugen 1500mah battery http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...ery-for-for-htc-desire-hd-softbank-001ht.html cost around $45 US which translates to roughly $56SGD whereas locally the original DHD battery costs $59SGD. Adding a couple of bucks for shipping and all, it definitely works out to be a better battery to purchase if it actually works well (e.g. refer to above criterias).
So I would like to know whether the battery suffer from the problem of holding charge and also any heat/security issues. Considering I've read that many people claim that they get a lot more battery life out of it in their initial usage.

If you can live with a modified battery cover then this is superior to the mugen battery and cheaper too:

Big advantage here is you can use an original sensation/evo3d battery from HTC and don't have to have rely on 3rd party batteries.
On the other hand you can get as much as 1900mAh instead of the 1500mAh mugen offers.

As a matter of fact I have skimmed through that threads and I don't find anyone talking about how the battery life performs after months to a year of usage. This is a common concern because many 3rd party batteries lose their ability to hold charge very quickly after a short period of time. Of course it can be argued that no one complained about it in the thread but thats not substantial enough. The uesr reviews thats stated in those thread that you have linked are mostly by new users who were "wow"ed by the battery and then stop coming over to the thread altogether.
Even if they would reply, you wouldn't be able to use their statements because you don't know how they treated the battery so far.
I received my Mugen battery lately and I will be handling it the way I learned from here:

I have been using the Mugen battery for about a month now, following their instructions on how to handle the battery during the initial charges.
First, you say "3rd party batteries lose their charge.... after months to a year". Well, my original HTC battery after one year, is - I estimate - about 50% of the new Mugen.
OK, a new battery will outperform an old one, but it's not just 3rd party batteries.
When I changed batteries, the OEM one had actually expanded slightly and it did not slide out of its compartment easily. So the OEM is not a perfect guarantee of a lifetime of high power and good behaviour
And, I spent the extra € on Mugen and not the 2000mAh cons from eBay - Mugen has built a reputation over time, it is built to a similar (or higher?) standard as the OEM's.
btw look for a coupon that is valid for 10 or 20% I recall off the standard Mugen price.

Many businesses will pretend to be the large capacity, we choose the best choice in the factory, so the quality guaranteed some. I bought a nominal capacity is 2300 mAh, I test the actual can reach 1800 mAh.

I used a battery testing widget when I first got the mugen battery about 2 months back...
It was around 1300mAh with maximum 15% deviation, stayed around that value for the charge cycles done during that period, for about a couple of weeks.
I'd say its definitely pretty close. My HTC battery was at 800mAh with maximum of 20% deviation by the end of 1 year.
(Deviation comes from the limitation of calculating the mAh if I'm not wrong. Because it takes value of the actual consumption / charging once every minute or so, it kind of either interpolates between values, or just assume the whole 1 minute being the recorded value. Hence the possible variation.)

Actual testing (250 mA drain until shutoff voltage) shows Mugen to be wrong. Where is proof that you're right?

I would highly suggest going with genuine OEM batteries to get the maximum you can get. Always ask yourself: If it was so easy to get more battery capacity into the phone, why didn't HTC do it?

I have posted a screenshot of BatteryMonitorWidgetPro below, showing 1526 mAh of in-use value as complete capacity after 100% complete / 0% discharge cycles.
Also showing 1214 mAh with +- 41% deviation while on daily use, with no complete charge/discharge cycles that I made in the beginning, after I had received the battery on March 13th 2012.
So this is not the complete capacity; the upper value is.

They tested a Mugen battery, which consistently shows that they overrate batteries. By default, the rating of the battery is in serious doubt.

Your own phone is telling you that you're getting exactly OEM capacity, maybe less. Battery Monitor Widget extrapolates what it thinks your mAh rating of the battery is based upon the voltage and the mA consumed to get to that voltage. So far it looks like your battery is either OEM capacity or slightly less. The top 1526 mAh number is what the battery claims to have, not what it really has.

1. Your test app is proving you wrong.
2. Phone based test applications are a horrible idea, proper testing should be done with the battery charged outside the phone to 4.2v then discharged to 3.4v at constant mA drain. Multiply the time that it took to drain by the mA drain used to get your accurate capacity.

No, it uses historical data (logs) to measure the battery. It doesn't think, it measures.

No. This is how the app works: This value (1214 mAh) was measured by not draining the battery completely anymore. If I don't drain the pack to 0%, the app cannot measure all the capacity. Simple logic.

No, the battery was measured all the way from 100% to 0%, and that's what came out after several complete cycles. The log is accessible inside the program.

My last try (after having bad experience with noname 2500mAh replacement battery which was a waste, and 3000mAh S3 battery which did not fit).

THE RESULT
So, after warming it up for some days, I decided to make benchmarks, and did it with two different apps.
While the stock battery (1800mAh) drains 30% for the same test in the same time, the AceSoft battery drains 40% although it is allegedly 2600mAh (or 2830mAh).
Also, the AceSoft is the same as the sunsky 2500mAh noname replacement battery. Looking in it clearly they only changed the sticker and selling it this way. You can see the battery material is identical in design.

Thus, no need to buy that! I am tired and give up trying any other batteries.

So I received the battery from AceSoft today and the first thing that impressed me was that Im reading on it "2850mAh", so let's see.
To get confident that it is not just a sticker over another noname replacement battery I pulled down the red sticker a bit to check whats behind, and I see at least no other sticker behind, only the battery. But unfortunately the design of the battery looks like same the replacement battery from sunsky, both bit different to the stock one.
I put the battery into the phone and it got already about 50% juice. The only weird thing was that on my first use, the phone was working and reacting very slow. I put to charging and waited 10min, when it was still slow, then just rebooted and now it is fine. Is that normal with the first use? I hope it was only once.
Will see and report the results these days!

when plugged in for charging, i found out that it stops charging as soon it reaches 4.3 V or reaches a temperature of 43 C to prevent any damage. it got (from 10%) to about 85% charge, i then need to wait about 20min till it cools down a little and comes lower state in voltage, in order to proceed fully charging.
maybe it needs some training in the first usage, in order to get used to charge completely. will see..
but for now i am fine with the battery

For now, as I guessed it is better when charging over USB from pc, because the temperature of the battery stays always cool below 40°C, not getting quickly warm as through the charger, neither does the voltage reach as quicker to 4.3 V. You can see in the pics attached.
Though I have to say that I am using a different charger and not the original charger (american) because I am in Europe, as the power supply socket is different here.
I previously read for extended batteries, they need a few charges to get out the full capacity. In the screenshot we can see that the charging jumped from 92% to 100%. I then waited a bit, and recharged smoothly again. I believe this is normal for the beginning and will be fixed after some uses/recharges.
the screenshots include the graphs while charging in % of the battery state, Temperature (it is more warm before the charging, because I was using the phone) and in Voltage, all of during the same time range. and the re-raising to 100% in the last pic.
will definitely let you all know the further results.

i don't want to sound like a douche but the outcome was to be expected. given a definite size for a battery, there's only so much power you can cram into it and it's already highly unlikely that a 3rd party cheap battery would match or slightly surpass the branded original one, that it's basically just screaming scam when dirt cheap, noname batteries claim insane power like 2600-2850 mah vs the stock 1900
There are ways to cram more power into the same space. Using higher quality cells or better manufacturing can lead to better batteries. I'm not vouching for any of these off brands, and in most cases you can consider them bad, but there are exceptions. But it seems finding a reputable brand or original S3 batteries would be your best bet for extended slim batteries

Hey one and all,
Now I know there are already a few threads with some external battery chargers but a few are quite outdated and it's quite a pain looking through them all so I've been a little lazy and started this new thread.
Basically im currently using the ZeroLemon 7500 extended battery, which with my heavy usage lasts 2 days which is fine by me. I am now starting to get bored with my mini brick and would like to downsize to a 3000mAh battery so as to be able to use stock sized cases, but invest in a high capacity external battery charger. Something in the range of 12000mAh or thereabouts.
Ive searched amazon and google and seen countless brands and sizes and some with extra functions like wifi file transfer / wifi hotspot / sdcard reader etc. My main interest is for the charging, optional extras are just a bonus. Ive had my fair share of fakes from china / hong kong which although super cheap do tend to lack staying power.
I want something that will keep its charge, that has a high capacity to enable me to charge a 3000mAh battery 3-4 or more times and that i can charge fully overnight between 12-16 hours.
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated, I dont want speculation on products that are out there as i have searched loads and read reviews on what i can. I would just like to hear from people who have similar wants and needs to myself that have used certain products and can give any recommendations.

There are no higher capacity stock sized batteries, its usually fake or over rated. If it exists, Samsung should have produced it already. Better get a power bank to extend your usage.

Don't worry about price per se. I have this and I charges my S4 three times to full. Apparently uses Samsung batteries.

You mistitled the thread. It's external battery pack, power pack, etc. Not charger. Battery packs do charge the phone but "external battery charger" mostly refers to those wall-chargers on which you put the battery to charge directly out of the phone.

I appreciate your input and willingness to make a point however if you had read what the guy put, regardless of my thread title, he was talking about extended stock size batteries, whereas the title is still pretty accurate for what I want .... An "external" pack to "charge" the "battery". And secondly the title I feel is pretty relevant, but even if it wasn't all you need to do is read my post to understand exactly what i wanted.
Please don't feel the need to take time out of your day to say I did something wrong when in fact you have done exactly the same as the first guy and countless other people by just not reading.

It is quite slim (similar size as S4, double the thickness) and not very heavy.
I have already used it a couple of times and I am very happy with it. I can charge 2 phones at once, and the charging seems similar like from a normal power cord (got from 10 to 50 in about 30mins).

To be honest, power bank is pretty handy at times but please note that it takes time to charge your phone thus you need to carry your phone with the powerbank on the move which will be even heavier than your zerolemon battery alone. :good:
I've been using the PowerGen 9000mAh since August last year. It is a good size to carry in your pocket.
It has dual USB outputs plus an attached Micro USB cable that shares the 2 amp output. I like the dual output because I can charge it fast with a 2 amp port that will charge my phone a good 60% in an hour or so, or leave it on the .6 amp port over night and only have the battery pack drop 25%, or charge 2 or even 3 devices at the same time. I really like that it has an attached cable.
I can get a good 3 full charges of my S4 from it.
I mainly use it when traveling. If I am not going to be using it for a while, I discharge it to about 50% and it will stay there for months at a time. This is good practice for any LiPo battery not being used. They basically last forever at that charge level.
I also carry a spare OEM battery with me all the time, which is why I don't carry the battery pack often.

Ah, sorry about that. I was thinking about the internal battery.
Anyways, I'm using a Yoobao 7800MAh Power Bank. Its quite well known in the Asia region (like in the PH), can charge my S4 2-3 times, and quite handy (not that heavy).
I'm looking to purchase an external battery pack that's compatible with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 2.0 spec (Samsung's adaptive quick charge).
The only one that's listed on Qualcomm's site is the mp5200q that's not listed as for sale anywhere I was able to find(besides alibaba for orders >1000 quantity). Has anyone found a compatible device?

I really doubt it. Qualcomm's technology seems to pretty new. An external battery like that probably won't come out for like a year or more.
Most likely not, Samsung's adaptive charger charges up to 9V DC. All external battery packs are made for the USB standard 5V DC output.
Wouldn't any normal external battery still work for you? Like a power bank of sorts?
I was able to obtain a small quantity of the MP5200Q directly from the manufacturer. I am keeping a couple and selling the rest for what it cost me plus fees etc.

Would love to buy one too!
while I have a few external battery packs, I've opted to go with a spare battery. 0% to 100%, immediately, and it's smaller than any of my external battery packs.

Well, I would think it's pretty self explanatory, considering it's just an extra battery and all... but here is the exact thing that I got:

I used the 50% coupon that you get when you register the phone to get it.
it "charges" the phone exactly once, since you're swapping out the battery, and it takes how ever much time it takes you to swap out the battery to bring it to 100%. It's about 1 minute for me.
buy another spare battery if you want to "charge" it twice. It comes with an extra plastic battery holder, so you can carry 2 batteries with you. It'll probably still be smaller than a external battery pack.

Yeah, I have a couple of power banks but I only use them for my Nexus 7. I use a second battery for my Note 4 when it needs more juice - a lot easier than tethering to a power bank. The power bank can be used with the Samsung external battery charger if need be - swap out the phone battery and recharge the first one in the charger with a power bank if AC is not available.

Confirming fitment in XT1676 and powering up, phone functioning properly. Will be doing a few cycles on the OEM battery to compare aftermarket results.

Hiya, any update on this? 4550mAh sounds too good to be true, but I'd love to hear how your mileage has been with this
Any source for that battery which sells to Europe/ Germany. Could not find one myself.
Just ordered this extended battery with 3400mAh which also delivers to Europe.

Not a precise measurement. Orginal runs about a day. This one half a day with not much activity. It has a jump from 30% to zero. I had several full charges/ discharges before. And several attempts in trying.
lithium batteries should be kept between 30 and 90 %. It's worse to discharge them.
You could charge to only 80% but 90% is where on most phones the battery statistics reset

Sure, these are recommended usage conditions. But jump from 30% to 0% likely means defective battery, which cannot hold its capacity.
Normal battery should go smooth from 100% to 0%. Well, it may be not a straight line, but under constant average load graph should be near linear.
If it's jumping and suddendly goes 0% it's something wrong with battery. You may still try to calibrate it by full discharge/full charge several times,
but high quality batteries usually don't require it. Also I think high capacity battery must be thicker than original. If not, it's most likely a fake.

anyone found a decent battery yet? For Hiking I tend not to carry a heavy powerbank (even not a light one) but a spare lightweight battery... I do not understand why Lenovo is providing a changeable battery but not selling any...
Sorry, been away without notifications. Ran battery for several weeks and notice no significant increase in battery life - had screenshots of usage but unfortunately had a bad flash (Dont use SD as internal storage).
Decided to stick with the OEM battery, and will continue purchasing them if they go out or need to swap. Because of build quality, coping with a dead phone is better than one on fire or overheating.
But if Motorola or Anker releases an extended slim battery...
