Anyone with Photoshop skills? - Motorola Atrix 2

I would greatly appreciate if someone could take this and make it look like this, as far as being greyed out, and then replace the Message icon with it (put it under the yellow bar). I'm not sure on how you would make it grey exactly, but your best would be fine. I appreciate it. It also will need transparency.

Here you go. go to imageshack.us/photo/my-images/828/barmarket.png/ (i'm a new user so I can't post links yet.)

what info should I put on lock screen?

Hi,
After noticing that ICS has owner info on the lock screen I thought about it and decided to edit my lock screen wallpaper.
Since it is a transparent image, it shows whatever launcher wallpaper I have underneath.
What is a suitable ammount of information to put on this?
I have attached a screen shot of my current effort.
Thanks.
It's all about personal preference to be honest. Whatever amount you feel comfortable with, is the right amount for you.
I, for example, have nothing but a wallpaper and unlock slider.

Just put your name, address, and e-mail
It will help you if you lost your phone...D
Or you can write everything that come to your mind
I was kind of wondering if putting home address on lock screen info was advised?

I personally wouldn't suggest having your address on there. Maybe just name, email and another contact number incase you lose it, someone will know to contact you on the backup number.
But it's all about what info you feel comfortable having on there really.

I would just keep it simple, with the text:
If found, call **********, thank you
Then you will be able to give the finder your adress or something.
I just have a message on my splash screen:
Put a weather widget too.
P.S. Don't give too much info about yourself.
I ended up sticking with the screen shot in the first post :good:

I like it very simple...

But I agree that at least it would be good to avoid putting personal information on it

Personally I just put a beautiful wallpaper, with hour, the weather (with icon and small text) and music app control whih is very useful when I use Spotify in transport for example.

Anyone know how to get Craigsnotifica

Anyone know how to get Craigsnotifica ? It was the best craigslist notification app on the market and it's gone. I just wiped my phone and flashed a new rom and on purpose didn't do a backup (wanted to start from scratch) but didn't expect this app to just not be on the market anymore.
Any ideas?

I discovered a funny little trick, which is the reason I've been able to keep the app: I use the market app Appbak to create a text-file backup of all my installed apps. When I go to reinstall my apps, the app uses that list to go to each app in the market, and if Craigsnotifica is on the list, it WILL show up in the market!
Of course we should all keep a copy of the apk on our sdcards/computer.

Thanks alot. I love this app...been using it for couple of years now. The latest version doesnt show the body of ad. I wish it worked though!
Its hard to understand why the developer took this app off the market...did he stop developing it?
If so, someone should carry on the button!!!

I changed the settings and got it to show the body/text along with the pictures etc to show on each ad. Prior to that I would have to click on the peace/craigslist symbol to see the whole add and not just the pics and location.
Once I opened the app and got into the menu I seleced Preferences/Storage/Cache Ads Data (checked the box) and all new post and searches now work like it used too showing the text etc and are also available off line to review later. I am using version 3.28
I am still using it on my G2x until it just flat out does not work anymore. All the other apps I've found just don't compare and all seem like carbon copies of each other.
Now I just need to figure out how to remove the ads since I can't purchase the full app.
Very sad. I tried this and the results came up empty for everything. Every other Craigslist app is crap in comparison to this apps simplicity.
Anyone try this other app in the market yet? It seems really simple, yet has all the features like notifications and posting even. I haven't put it thru it's paces yet tho...

My Spen "Reset" App

I hope this is the right place to post this. I have owned and really loved my N7000 for several months now. As an ex-Palm user, the SPen stylus was a huge draw. I began to note, however, that over time the accuracy and the location of the floating pointer of my SPen began to drift. I searched and found many people complaining about this and saw multiple posts of "fixes" to try. I even found a paid app in the marketplace that claims to deal with this. I recalled that on my various Palm devices I occasionally had to re-run the touchscreen calibration routine and began to look for one of these thinking it should be built-in. But I could not find one that actually seemed to help.
After more digging I discovered a technique that seemed to work. Simply changing the SPen's dominant hand setting back and forth from my setting of Left to Right and back to Left again made a big difference. But doing so was inconvenient and really had to be done with some regularity to keep things really perfect. After more searching, I discovered how changing the SPen device's dominant hand (not the actual preference setting but seemingly communicating directly with the device) could be triggered by a script. However, this requires ROOT and some way to launch the script. I tired this and found it worked well.
So I decided to wrap this technique up in a little app - my first real Android app. It also requires ROOT and uses much the same technique as the script. You simply tap the app's icon and the quick change is performed - there is no UI. The app determines your current dominant hand setting from the preference file and then tells the device to switch to the opposite hand and back again. Nothing too big here but it seems to work for me (as well as some others who posted this "fix" idea).
I would think it good for this to be scheduled to run regularly (maybe once every .5 - 1 hour) so one never has to be bothered. But for now I haven't figured out how to do this and my guess is there are free apps available that can run this on a schedule. I was able to find such a program to run the script in this manner.
But I have not tested this on any but my own N7000. Will it work for others? Will it work on US carrier's versions of the Note? Will it work on the Note II or the new tablet that has an SPen? I am not sure and am hoping others out there will try this and let me know their findings and suggestions.
Thanks
EDIT: Please note that I have moved the APK file to the Google Play Store. Here is the link.

For those that have it, Tasker should allow one to schedule this activity as needed. For those that don't, I recommend looking into it.
you should be able to get it to run as a service,

Also, I can no report that I have this running on a schedule using the Scheduling function of the excellent SManager app from the marketplace. I have been using that to run the onandroid script automatically to perform nightly backups. It can run executable programs as well as scripts. To run the .apk you use the android activity manager program (/system/bin/am) using the following command line:
/system/bin/am start -n com.whitedavidp.reset.spen/.MainActivity
Cool!

Thanks, I will look into that. I am so new to this I kept things as simple as possible. A service would seem the right way to handle built-in scheduling. But I would also want to retain the tapping of the app icon so it can be run on command in case the user has set the interval too large and wants to reset things right now.
thats a nice one

Feedback on GB or Jelly Bean?
I should have mentioned in my original post that I have tested this only on Stock Touchwiz ICS 4.0.4 using Hydracore 4.3 kernel. It would be helpful to know if this works and does its job well on other platforms. Lacking adequate hardware, I can think of no way to ascertain this except asking others to try and give me feedback. Other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks
Thank you for this app! I'm using an SGH-T889 Note II and the app worked perfectly. It could just be my imagination, but it really seems like my stylus is way more accurate, so I'm assuming it worked! If anything the app installed and ran fine (it stated successful so I'm assuming it did), and I'm using a US version of Note II on Tmobile with a custom rom (Jedi X5). Just thought I'd let ya know in case you still needed to know if it worked on a different phone. Thanks again!

Ok that's cool I'm glad I could help (even though it's miniscule lol). I can also say now that it's not just my imagination, because it actually does work. This morning I had some time to kill before a meeting so I was doodling it up. After a while I noticed the S Pen accuracy was really starting to slip, so I ran your app again and the difference was amazing! I'm really surprised that Samsung didn't intergrate an app like this, because you'd figure they'd recognize the precision drops over time by now. Anyway I'm definitely glad I found this man and once again I really appreciate your hard work!

hi
this app is a great idea! please update it with schechule... but i still have problems with landscape mode... there it's always off...
a fix for this would be soooo nice!
thx for youre work!
App runs on paranoid Android.
Not sure about tw roms but on cm/pa and aokp roms pointer icon is always slightly towards top left of screen. If phone is rotated, rather than point to the 'new' top left it is still pointing at the volume up button.
To fix landscape we need someone to work out how to convince the input that the screen is 1280 x 800 instead of 800 x 1280, this (I think) means the spen input would need to recalibrate every time your screen rotates eating batteries for breakfast.
Right handed use landscape where bottom of phone moves right (anticlockwise) you can still see it its just off. If you swing bottom of phone left pointer hides behind spen

Thanks for the info and response. Can you please describe: (a) does my app help when in portrait mode? and (b) can you describe how the pointer is off when you are in landscape (which direction and by how much)? and (c) when you return to portrait mode does the pointer seem right?
I have a more complete version offering scheduling and other convenience features coming and will put both on the marketplace once I figure out how to do that.
PS - I think I read somewhere that toggling auto-rotate on/off may help "fix" the S-Pen and I wonder if this will work for you?
Cheers!

Thanks for your info. Good to know that the app doesn't crash on Paranoid. My phone is TW ICS 4.0.4 with Hydracore 4.3 kernel. On my phone I do not see the issue with landscape mode that you and phasA describe. I can say that I really wasn't liking the way auto-rotate was working on my phone (sometimes just too sensitive). So I have installed this app which basically makes me confirm that I want to rotate. Perhaps this has something to do with my I am not seeing this issue?

Need help with a weird issue

So, I want to start by saying I am posting this in this thread because I figured out this would be the best place to get help on this issue. All Nexus owners, the very best Android users of all.
About a year ago or so, anytime I typed the letters fi in a word, the letter "i" always shows without a dot on top. I am pretty sure this is how it shows only on my screen but it is really annoying.
So, basically when I post this from my phone, the letters fi will show normal on your phone or computer screen when you are reading this but not on my phone screen. It shows up just fine on my computer screen but not on my phone.
For some reason I suspect this has something to do with my gmail account because it starts happening the minute I link my gmail account with my new device.
I am attaching a screenshot, so hopefully someone can help me out with this weird issue. Just look at the highlighted words.
Thanks a million everyone.

Umm.....the dot IS there. It's right next to the "f", just so close that its making it look like the dot is part of your f. This "issue" is occurring on my PC as well. It's just the font. I don't know much about android, so I don't know how to, but look up somewhere about how to change your font to something else. It's just how the font is.

well, again. Im not an android user so I don't know for sure. But I saw your post and that no one was helping so offering my two cents lol.
on your PC (if you have one) open up notepad. set the font to something like times new roman. using font 10, then 12, 14, etc, and moving your way up to bigger and bigger sizes, you can see that when you type "fi" it looks exactly like the fi on your image posted (and again as I said, on my pc, the fi's even in this thread look exactly like your nexus photo), and as you slowly work the font size up, you will slowly see the dot on the I more and more and how its literally touching the f, until finally looking more like a dot next to an f, rather than being part of the f itself. this is why im convinced its the font on the nexus.

Its there. Look at all the other "i"s that youve used in that picture. They all still have their dot up there. It's just hard to see it next to the f, but it's there. I just checked on my phone, and it looks exactly the same as on your phone. But its definitely there. Just difficult to distinguish.

Just kidding look, I think what last dude said is what's happening here, the dot is there but it is too close to the 'f' and personally that doesn't bother me a bit. If you feel you are not comfortable with this the best advice is to change the font on your device to one that doesn't have this kind of phenomenon, which may take a while to find one (I'm not sure about this).
AHA! I knew I was right! It's called "ligatures" apparently, also known as "character clashing" by people like us who get bothered by it lol.
