[Q] Removing battery icon Android 2.3.3 - HTC Desire S

Hi!
I have searched the forums for information to remove the battery icon from the taskbar and tried several things without success. Is there a way to remove it?
I use:
HTC Desire S
Android 2.3.3/Sense 2.1 (Stock ROM)
Android SDK
Does anyone know what files to modify to remove the icon, not using a custom ROM?
Thanks!

I have rooted the phone.
I was thinking about XML editing as well but i yet dont know what parameters to edit. Inside the system-ui/res/layout i've found several files that seem to be associated with the status bar. They're all XML documents, 7 of them containing the word "status".

Installing desire apps on samsung galaxy?

Hi,
I have an HTC desire and a samsung galaxy. I found that there are many applications in the desire that are not available on the Galaxy i9000 like the calendar , the clock widget, the people widgit and there are no arabic characters in stalled for the browser. Can someone please tell me how to install those manually without having to flash an entire custom ROM? I already rooted the device and I have android SDK
Thank you,
same question?
how can we get the apk files (if any) from one rom to another
Use adb pull command to extract .apk files from a Rom ur using, or from an ruu .exe file you need to Google how to extract update.zip from it, then look in system/app or data/app in update.zip.
If you find apks with corresponding .odex or .dex (cant remember which it is), you will also have to research odexing/deodexing.

One more thing... I think the HTC stuff might also need specific other stuff (libraries... whatever the hell they are)... worth a try though, have a play.

[Q] How to unlock market apps (not available)

Hi all,
I was looking for a way of unlocking apps within the market which are not available to install. These are apps I already bought. There are some 'How To's' like installing market enabler and editing the build.prop.
First the way with market enabler doesn't work. For example Fancy Widget Pro says me that it is not available. I've already installed old versions of the market, same problem. Which every version I have tested the market enabler --> :'(
Next step was to find what I have to edit within the build.prop file. I could find something with changing the ro.product.model string ... but what do I have to type in exactly? I could only find a notice of changing the region of my phone / provider!?
It makes me sad because there are nearly more than 10 apos I can't use anymore.
Could someone help me to solve that please?
UPDATE: It seems that only Sense 3.5 ROMs are affected but I don't really know. I had the same problem with RCMix 3D and Sensation HD.
Thanks in advance.
Chris
Facts:
HTC Sensation with InsertCoin 3.3.3 (rooted)
Market Version 3.2.0
Provider o2 - Germany
ro.product.model=HTC Sensation Z710e
SOLVED
Hey guys.
I could find it. I've heard something about the region within this ROM. I've used the root explorer and I could find the following string
within the build.prop file (/system):
"ro.product.locale.region="
For Germany I had to type in "DE".
With the complete string "ro.product.locale.region=DE" and a reboot I can now use all the apps I bought before and which were not available.
I could find this problem within all Sense 3.5 ROMs I tested.
Now I'm glad
Thanks
Chris
Would the US version be EN or US?

For USA you have to use US, normally
The Market Enabler didn't work. I don#t know why. Maybe it's too easy to use

I've heard about this tool but I've never used it. Seems a bit complicated in that you have to flash stuff before flashing rom, and after. Also once you run the program everything is gone completely. I like having control using root explorer to either move or delete the files that way if something does go wrong I just add it back onto my phone and change the permissions. Maybe it's just a lack of knowledge.

Hi,
It's a lot easier than it seems, and speeds the installation process up.
Perhaps , it's not for everyone, but the [OP] stated removing bloatware ,which it does in seconds.
It takes a while to configure the initial user text file, but once you have done it, you don't ever have to do it again.
And you only have to run it once after flashing the ROM.
It takes 30 seconds to run.
How do I know which particular bloatwares to remove? I'm new to android. Less than a week old.

Hi,
Have a look at what is included in a basic ROM,by looking at THIS USER TEXT FILE.
You will also see guide alongside it showing what each one does.
Make sure you have notepad++(google it).
I have tried all I can but still can do the bloatware removal. I have rooted, enabled SU and I have installed root explorer but I don't know what to do now. The root explorer gives make access to the ROM but I don't know what to remove and how to remove it.

Root explore goto system/app then remove what you want.be careful though don't remove anything bad
Nexus S 4G using miui.us with matr1x kernal 9.0 and batttweak RC1
I have a Motorola Photon and I want to keep the diagnostic app for Sprint and the voicemail app, and I want to get rid of the camcorder beep sound everytime I start and close the program. Any input would be appreciated, thank you.

New HTC car dock update

Hi guys just a quick question. I read somewhere that the new att update had fixed the problem with the car dock app. Which was not allowing 3rd party music players like Pandora and slacker. Anyone confirm this ? And if so where can I find the app itself as I am on cleanrom. Thanks

the new car mode app is in the newest cleanrom and yes you can choose a music player.
Weird I'm using cm4.5 final and I don't have it.

can someone post the apk?
there are 6 different files including odexes put them in system/app and change permissions. NO idea if these will work or if they require the 2.2x base
It just lets you put shortcuts. Go in the music app and add the shortcuts there, and they will appear in the car dock.

Did you copy them to system app and change the permissions? Also if you are running a deodex rom this won't work.
I think you dont get this in Cleanrom 4.5 lite edition (which is what I am running)
@gunny
you talked about putting it in system/app and changing permissions. Can you post a small howto please..
Use a root enabled file manager like root explorer put the files in /system /app. Then change the permissions on each apk to rw-r-r. and reboot. assuming that I pulled the right files lol.
Thanks,
Works brilliantly. Only the Automotive apk and odex files were needed !!
PS : I am learning new things everyday !! Thanks to XDA !!
Wow that even rhymes !!
Glad to help.
I would LOVE to have this on my Rezound. Can I just move the proper files and permissions to my phone?
I'm on ViperRez 1.0.3 (I think it's based off of a HTC One ROM), it's Android 4.0.3 and Sense 4.0. Would it be compatible?

Yep. Here's the apk I use, no resetting permissions or anything. It does not create a shortcut in the appdrawer however. But the app auto launches when docked.
Crap, can't upload it from phone. Will put it up shortly.
Does anyone have a deodexed version of the updated car app? And is the update JB only or does it work on ICS as well?

Yes thrice. Finally Today I succeeded to get the Stock app but still widget is missing
What I did?
1) Changed the lock screen style to "Stock"
2) When phone was unlocked its asked me to update the stock. So I did that
3) And surprisingly now Stock app is reflecting in app drawer but still widget is missing from the list
Also checked in the ROM App file on my PC. But I have not found any apk file related to the Stock widget . Can some one help me for Stock widget?
I can't see any stock widget either. Sorry I can't help you further, as I don't use the stock app. Maybe it's only available as a lockscreen on Sense 4.1
