Hey all,
I have an India model Sensation and I haven't received the OTA update as of yet. I called HTC and they advised that the update is not available in that region yet.
I've tried to use the Tmobile version but it doesn't work.
If any one has the European update file I'd be very grateful if they can post it somewhere I can download it.
No OTA update for myself either
Hi,
I have an unlocked/sim free retail box of the HTC Sensation which was given to my by HTC (long story). I live in Ireland and I have not received the OTA update yet either. My friend is on Vodafone IE and has got the software update, I assumed I would have had it pushed to my handset first but this has not been the case. I have tried keying in ' *#*#checkin#*#* ' to get any missed updates but nothing available yet. Does anyone else have this problem with an unlocked handset?
If possible as above I'd like the updatepackage.zip .
Lastly I'm on O2 IRL who don't carry the Sensation but I don't think that would matter as my handset is not branded to their network, any ideas on any other trouble shooting I could do?
Long story short, our Canadian Idol 3's are beholden to carrier for updates. Can I safely flash a US 'backup' of the stock software from the backup thread on my Canadian model and then get updates without my carrier being involved?
I have a backup of my stock (Bell) firmware from TWRP, so I'm not too worried about doing anything irreperable...
Thanks!
I was wondering the same thing I'm with Telus, getting tired of pressing the check for updates button!!!

Since both the USA and Canada are using the 6045i it would seem like you could however I'd make sure I had a good backup first in case you need to revert due to unforeseen issues. You probably want to wait a few days as someone will upload the unrooted new firmware after applying the update. (I plan to do it for the 6045i).
Aright, I'll wait for your upload. It's the 10th tomorrow, so the update ought to be out, and I have a full System Image backup from TWRP, soo.... Yeah

I'm also a Canadian who never get updates from Telus and it sucks bad... Did you try and succeed using the US firmware?
I did, and its working just fine. I posted a thread in the General forum about how to do it.
Thanks, I'll check this thread.
Hi guys, 2 days ago I got this phone off-contract, and I can't update it. At start I filled it up with a bunch of software to check it out, and today I did a soft reset, as I read that it can't help if you can't get an android update and I wanted to get rid of all the stuff I installed.
Thing is, when I go to "check for updates", it says my device isn't registered. I tried 2 soft resets so far and no luck.
Any thoughts on "how to register"?
Thanks!
Register the IMEI by calling ATT (611). You should be able to do the same with its MVNOs too. You can only retrieve the OTA by using one of the two.
Also you can bypass the 24hr nonsense by calling customer service, then asking them to push it from their tech department.

Errr... I got it from a Cellphone shop here in Serbia, I'm not sure where they acquired it, or from which operator it is. How do I find out who I need to call/email or whatever?

My bad, I assumed you had the H950 (att logo on back). If you're using an international variant, which I believe is H959 the method is probably different.
Yeah, sorry I'm still not familiar with model number but it's an international version.
Any idea is welcome
EDIT: Seems it's a H955.

When you removed stuff did you use root at some point? Also are you updating over a wireless carrier or WiFi?

Nope, I never rooted the phone, never used low-level access on it. Just tried apps via Google play that don't require root. Even than the phone didn't want to update, and it still doesn't want to do it. I also installed LG PC Suite and tried to update the software via it, but it doesn't work either.

Ace,
I have H950 on T-Mobile network, unlocked, rooted, 5.0.1
How can I update it to 5.1.1?
Thanks

Okay, you'll need help from another member with that model. Anything I say will be based off of my time with the H950, sorry mate.

1. Unroot
2. You can use H950PR ROM or go official ATT route
3. There's a thread on PR / if you want ATT's 2 5.1.1 OTAs you'll need a gophone SIM ($2/day), ATT MVNO, or a friend's SIM
4. You can wait patiently for weeks or call 611 while using their network
5. Ask the rep to be transferred to tech support, then tell them you need an update pushed
6. They'll push it if they're knowledgeable, you'll get 11x
7. Repeat following day for 11z

Sure, no problem. If we don't get an answer and I still won't be able to get that update automaticly, is there a way to flash it with a newer version downloaded from xda?
You can flash the 5.1.1 kdz file.
Just to tell the end of the story, I returned my phone since it couldn't be updated to 5.1.1, I got a H-955A which didn't have any issues with that.
Can I ask any SIM FREE Nokia 3 users in UK if they have received the Android 8.0 update as of May 19th?
I suspect my network could be to blame for the delay, as I'm using PLUSNET (which piggybacks the EE network)
The device is currently on android 7.1.1 and was purchased from the carphone warehouse in Norwich brand new and SIM free some six weeks ago.
I'm also experiencing a strange occurrence after a factory reset.
The EE app keeps getting automatically installed after a factory reset, which is strange because I'm not an EE customer!
Can anyone confirm their update in UK or explain why the EE app is getting installed to a sim free device after initial set up?

It's not just you I am on Three UK as is my friend both devices are sim free and his has never been rooted or bootloader unlocked. The Carrier app's get installed due to some .xml settings in the CDA Partition which check the network id number and then install the appropriate app if one exists.
Not sure why the UK is one of the last to get the official Oreo update but hopefully it will very arrive soon. :fingers-crossed:

Well, I've got the update but the process is a little long winded and had a hiccup along the way.
So, you need to remove the SIM card.
factory reset.
Sign into WiFi and Google account.
Select to restore your back up (this can be skipped if desired)
Once the back up is restored, connect to a Finland VPN
(I used express VPN from playstore)
Check for system updates, it will give you the android 8.0 notification.
Select to download
(I had to download it twice as the first time I encountered a verification error)
Allow to install.
After reboot replace sim card.
The process takes roughly 45 minutes to complete.
Edit
I've just read on Reddit there is an issue with all Nokia devices receiving any system updates in UK that Nokia / HMD will not confirm.
It's not good we have to factory reset and select other nations VPN to get system updates.

No it definitely isn't. So you're saying India VPN didn't but Finland did? I will keep that in mind. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that your phone is the European version

Tried twice.
Selected Finland and found the update immediately.

Cheers for the info. :good:
Is the TA-1020 available in India
If it's not then that would explain why the Indian VPN did not work.
I will wait and see if they sort it out as I am on the Oreo Beta anyway and now they have released the Kernel source my aim would be to try build LineageOS or some other OS.
If anyone with the TA-1020 who has installed the official Oreo could pull the system, boot and recovery with SPFlashTool for me that would be great as I would like to use the none beta Oreo for building the device and vendor trees. :fingers-crossed:
PS:
BTW What is the Kernel version on the Official Oreo as they have released the 3.18 version and I was kinda expecting the 4.4 version.

They took their sweet time. I was beginning to wonder if they would release any this month
3G network on Oreo was bad for me, only 1-2 bars while on 7.1.1 is 3-4 bars (4 bars mostly). I hope that they fixed this issue.

I've haven't yet had under full strength signal on 3G or 4G, but I've only had the 8.0 for update 24 hours so I'll keep my eye on it.
Battery is much better on Oreo, last 3 to 4 hours longer than 7.1.1

Did you try the VPN trick without the factory reset?
I don't understand why HMD aren't providing the files to flash manually as that would help get the update out to the UK faster.

OK, so maybe it's a bug that clears up after the factory reset. I know that on reddit some people are saying that just removing the SIM and clearing the Google Services Framework works as well so I'll give that a try and see what happens.

Yes I read the Reddit posts regarding clearing Google play services data and that was the first step I tried (as well as removing the sim)
That didn't work so I then spent last weekend using the factory reset / VPN method, but I found the India VPN method didn't work either.
I did not have any success with getting the 8.0 update notification until I factory reset and tried the Finland VPN, which worked fine.
I would be careful using the VPN method as one person on the Nokia Support forums has had issues with mobile data:
https://community.phones.nokia.com/support/discussions/topics/7000025647
It could also be related to the fact that there are two different versions of the Nokia 3, the TA-1032 and the TA-1020. The TA-1032 seems to be receiving the Oreo update but the TA-1020 seems to have been forgotten.
Can anyone tell me if there is newer software for this phone on AT&T?
Currently:
Model LM-G900UM
SW VERSION G900UM10e
Security June 1, 2020
I'm reading there is a version G out, but I'm not getting an update. I even tried a new SIM.
I have the Canadian version, same model and no we haven't had a software update here either
From my knowledge the only ones that have gotten an update are the international unlocked versions which are running the Snapdragon 845
At&t has had two security updates and they're not getting to me. No one at at&t seems to know what to do.
So, this saga has finally ended. My firmware was G900UM10e. VPN bug, and phone would not take OTA. It kept saying I had the latest firmware. To their credit, AT&T support DID try everything. The phone wouldn't even take a push from their servers. New SIM card, factory reset, nada.
So, they sent a warranty replacement with G900UM10n loaded. VPN works perfect. I NEED it for work. And, today I managed to get G900UM10o over the air.
Either the IMEI of my old phone was MAJORLY hard bricked on their update server, or there was a bug in 10e blocking OTA.
Anyhoo, just wanted to share.

I haven't tried the VPN, but I would like to update to Android 11, and I am still stuck with the June 1, 2020 security patch on android 10 with the software version of G900UM10e and my model number is LM-G900UM. I got mine from the USA but am currently living in South Africa, so is there any way that I can fix this issue?
Only if you have an AT&T Sim card. You can't do an OTA update unless it's on the AT&T network.
e is the variant I got stuck on. Since I got my warranty replacement, I've gotten numerous updates, including Android 11.

Well, that sucks. Do you know of any way to bypass it, or is there a custom ROM that I can install on this variant of the LG Velvet?
