Loss of Signal - HTC Sensation

I am currently on the TMO Stock rom but i do have S-off and rooted, I have noticed that at random times my signal will just drop and i will have an X where the bars are located meaning im not connected to any network. I am not sure if there is a setting that i am missing that cuts the connection after a certain amount of time or if there is a known issue with the Sensation, I normally just restart my phone and the problem is resolved for the time being

Mine does that too (XE), it regains signal after a while.

This has just started happening with me over the past week or 2 as well. I switched from ARHD to Elegancia ROM and it still seems to be happening. I'm going to try switching radios and see what happens

Probably a tower issue (not phone).

[Q] Frustrating rom problem HELP!!!

Almost every rom I flash ends up having the same problem: I randomly lose signal. Not the crossed out icon, but rather just no bars. This happens while sitting still and there does not seem to be any pattern to it. Some roms it would happen overnight, others it happens during the day. Some roms I can toggle airplane mode on and off to fix it, while others I need to reboot. I always end up back on stock roms because the issue renders all custom roms unusable. Does anyone know what I can do?

Have you tried going stock and see if the issue arise?
Did you try to go 2G only and see if your signal holds?
It could be a bad 3G signal and your phone is dropping in/out to boost your signal. you could be between two towers and your phone jumps from one to another because of low signal. Could be a bad antenna if the problem persist under stock and 2G only. There are alot of things that can cause this issue and the phone itself can be the source. You have to factor out every possibility to narrow it down.

I'm switching to 2g only and we'll see if it holds. I'll know in a few hours.
I would be surprised if it has to do with towers, it isn't something that happens exclusively in low signal areas.
At work I have full HSUPA+ signal and it still happens, at home I barely get 3g signal and it happens there.
It happens at my girlfriend's house too and there is moderate to high HSUPA+ signal.
The problem DOES NOT persist with stock roms.
DOES NOT lose signal when data is disabled
******************UPDATE***************
even when locked to 2g only, it still loses signal.
Seems to be a hardware issue. I had the same problem on my last phone (a LG-VU) and I red-necked it and stuck a small piece of wire in the phone's antenna. It worked surprisingly and I had no problems with it for the remainer of my contract. But before going to those extremes, I would flash back to stock gingerbread, and try several different ROMs and Modems.

HAve you tried falshing different modems???????
You might have a bad sim card. My phone was doing that last summer, and then one day I couldn't get a signal at all. Rebooting would fix it but only momentarily. I hit up an AT&T store on my lunch the next day and got my sim card swapped and lo and behold, no more problems. LOL I remember I was trying to hide my Cognition boot screen from the tech as my phone was still under warrenty at the time.

Sensation XE - Data becomes unresponsive at times

As you might have noticed yourself, when your Sensation isn't using data, it switches to the 3g symbol. When it uses data it goes to the H symbol.
Every now and then, I would say about 2 to 3 times a day, the connection will become unresponsive and sticks on the 3g symbol. What I mean by this, is that nothing loads. It does not last long, usually putting down my phone with screen locked for a couple of minutes does the trick. Nevertheless, it is really annoying.
Please note that I have amazing reception (full signal).
I had the exact same problem with the HP Pre 3 I owned previously. That phone was on the Vodafone network, my Sensation is on the 3 (H3G) network. With that one, the data connection "blackouts" lasted longer and it even needed a reboot sometimes.
I have had a number of different roms on my Sensation, and I now run the latest ICS build for the XE with the latest radios.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is it something to do with my local mast? So far (as I can remember) it has only happened at my place of work.
It is really getting on my nerves and I would like to get to the bottom of this problem.

HTC One S Signal Fix?

I have an unlocked HTC One S that has major signal issues. When the phone boots, there's no service for a few minutes before it decides to actually kick in. WiFi and everything seemed to not work but after putting it into "Best Wi-Fi Performance" mode it seems have resolved. But the cellular signal drops constantly. I've read that this is quite the common issue with these phones and am wondering how they are so popular if this is the case. Regardless, has anyone discovered the reason for the issue or some sort of jimmy rig to fix this issue?

please mention your hboot , radio , Rom.
I'm having a similar problem. Occasionally I get a signal strength of 2 billion dBm. (255 asu)
What seems to be alleviating a lot of it is a set of mods to build.prop.
ro.ril.fast.dormance.rule=1
ro.ril.gprsclass=1
ro.ril.hsdpa.category=1
ro.ril.hsupa.category=1
ro.ril.hsxpa=2
These settings are the absolute slowest possible, but they do seem to be improving the connection quality.
Same problem to me. I have a new S4 from 2 days, bought "refurbished" from aliexpress at a good price. It's new, looks great but signal and in call audio quality is weak.
Phone works good on "GSM only". If i set GSM/WCDMA, I lose signal and phone stops itself.
I started with stock 4.0.3, phone stops itself.
Updated to 4.0.4, phone doesn't stop but no signal with WCDMA enabled.
Then I unkocked, rooted and tried Miui V5 (4.1), same problems.
After installing Maximus HD, I had signal also with GSM/WCDMA, but immediately I installed newer firmware and signal was lost. (Works only on "GSM only").
Tried also Beanstalk, CM11, MagioRom, SourcE, Slim kat. No signal with GSM/WCDMA.
I don't know if works with Maximus with older firmware, or it was only a coincidence. Don't know what firmware was at that moment.
Went to a bigger city and 3g worked excellent.
Returned back to home, no signal with 3g enabled.
I guess my phone is weak at signal.

Loosing singnal

I have a problem with my Nexus 5 that i would like some help to troubleshoot.
When I'm on cellular network i often have full reception on 4g, when suddenly it drops to absolute zero all of the sudden, data is disconnected and no phone calls can be made during that time. If i wait 10-15sec it is connecting again and up to full strength.
This happens all the time with a few minutes between each time, and has no affect of the location I'm at.
Often I'm just surfing the web when it comes up that this requires internet connection, and notices the bars are gone, and have to wait a few seconds before its back online again.
What would be the best steps to troubleshoot this? Is there any radio log on the phone that i can tail for errors?
Can it be hardware error? Can it be that the simcard looses connection to the hardware?
Im currently running a custom rom, but it was the same with stock when i tried that.
Any help appreciated!

Does it do it on other phoness? I've found that my carrier is updating towers in my area. When T-Mobile US was upgrading their network to LTE and changing panels, literally signal that was once there would be gone for upwards of a week.

No i had a Nexus 4 just before, using the same rom and Provider, worked fine then. Have had this issue for about 1,5 month.
Thanks for the answer though
I'm having exactly the same issue. Though for me it's not happening all the time, only when I'm connected to VPN. It's still very annoying because VPN disconnects when the signal drops.

Flash the latest radio and see if that helps although I think your custom ROM probably has the latest but you never know http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2557523

Sudden erratic cell signal and mobile data?

Hey guys I just started having problems with my OPO, I'm rooted and bootloader unlocked on 38R, Had the phone for about a month now and bam today a couple hours ago my signal ramps up to full would stay there for a few seconds and then drop to nothing, same for data, it would get a H+ signal and then by the time I go to check a website bam, back to no service. This just started happening today, I did nothing different with the phone at all. I did read around and I see people with somewhat similar problems to me but not quite. They seem to get problems doing a OTA or flashing roms which I haven't done yet.
I haven't dropped the phone or anything, this is really weird cause the phone actually got better reception of all the phones I owned previously. As I said, randomly started doing this today. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
