Adreno drivers for msm7225

Should we test if msm7225 has GPU???
Are you willing to donate the maker of the kernel/drivers?
Some help here with half compiled drivers
There are much discussions about the GPU in the msm7225 his brother the msm7227 has got a GPU and i almost the same
there are 2 ways to fond out if we got a GPU.......!
1. open yous phone remove the proccesor chip from your phone and inspect it on a GPU(i think this is kinda hard)
2. Build a ROM with the right drivers and look what happens in a 3d benchmark/game

The MSM7225 chipset includes a 528 MHz ARM11 processor with a floating point unit (FPU). A 400 MHz modem processor, 320 MHz DSP, hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, integrated Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS capabilities, a 5-megapixel camera and 30 fps WVGA video encode / decode are also included.
* MSM7227

Meaby one of the FPU/DSP/Modem arent enabled too because as it seems the msm7225 is much slower than the msm7227 but if you look here the only performance difrence is the clock speed but we alredy OC til 700 MHz so i think our phones can do more than they do now.
If we find some linux/android experts they could help testing and comiling and meaby we can enable the listed things

- with 3D driver = yes
- and 3d drivers = m (module)

Maybe we can eventually flash modems/radios (if we get the drivers for that)! It could give us better reception and maybe better battery life!

we too need the 3d libs i tought browsing trougt a zte racer ROM i found adreno opengl libs

nothing
will be slow
we dont have source for touchscreen , dpad and for mouse driver
for speed i need to know exact locations for ram like 0x02000000 its in config file
the kernel config is from 8150 different device
kernel has l2 cache and so on unneeded stuff for our device so its slowing down probably
but anyway u could try it if u get eclair compiled with the .32 kernel string

This would be amazing - but why wouldn't the GPU have been implemented already, if it IS there? (Why wouldn't a generic driver have worked for it?)

Cuz its probebly disabled so more ppl prefer a more expensive phone for a manufacturer its only 10 dollors more expensive to put a snapdragon in the phone the problem is that the phone market wpuld be screwed cuz phones get too cheap and the profit is tooo low

I was you made these boot.img es but are these made for eclair???
I will upload the libs and make a competible ROM look what happens but i just need som more info about these.
found a couple of libs in difrent ROMs from ZTE Racer but should the libs be named a specific way??
threr are much threaths obout the source but i cant seem to find it

those are just kernels for eclair and cm6 the ramimage is not included
the libs naming i do not know

Sorry if im doing something wrong to bump this thread but i found some interesting things about the GPU in the MSM 7225....
I looked up the U8160, and found that it also uses the same chipset, and all the sites i look up i keep finding that it has the adreno 200 GPU. I dnt know if this has been added to the hardware of the U8160 but i wanna see if the kernel from the U8160 can run on my U8120... ill test tonight once i get home, but if it does ill try to report back here. I will try it with anryls CH beta 6, but i keep having probs when i make a boot.img with kernels manually, so i usually go by dx's kitchen instead.

Well i flashed the kernel, not much changed except wifi is broken, everything else is completely the same, tried out angry birds and neocore, both exactly the same i dont think there is anything to do with the kernel, there may be files inside the rom that need to be modified aswell.

Performance Pack from 2x.

I just tried performance pack from Optimus 2x, and it feels even more smoother in usage.

Wow this worked for me too!! Finally get quadrant scores over 3000. Do u think an overclock kernel from the G2X will work? Urghh, wish I had the patience and time to learn this stuff.

I tried OC kernel for Froyo from 2x, and phone was stuck in boot loop. So please patience.

My Quadrant used to be below 2500 duno why before using this

Now install any good task manager and see how many apps are running and services. I used Go Launcher before score was 2200-2600, after this performance pack with no third party system apps running and with default LG launcher I get around 3055. I had to try benchmark couple of times though.
So more apps or system apps you load, will reduce your benchmark score.

I'll try it when back home. Just one more question, installation procedure is:
- put zip on top of internal storage or it will only work with external SD,
- boot into recovery mode
- flash as update.zip (so I need to rename it first) or as any zip file

Just put it on mine 2675 on stock and 3075 with this on, this is on Launcher pro also, run it on stock lG launcher and got 3173.
I must say there is a noticeable improvement in performance.

Well I had to put in internal SD as External SD is inaccessible from recovery (or at least for me).
- Put zip on root with any name.
- Reboot in recovery.
- Wipe both (partition and dalvik) chache.
- Install a zip from SD and select the file.
- Done.

Here is a simple zip I've made, if for some reason you want to revert the effect of the performance tweak and get back to the orignal files.

Does these convert all partitions? Then don't we need a "back to ext3". Cant there be problems with other or stock ROM's otherwise?

I'll try the 1.9, because some friends told me that's the best, without lag, absolutly... (I dont know... I try now...)

I just use the game 'fruit nibja'test these 3 boot, the v1.8 is the smoothest one

I've try the 1,9 verson with a froyo rom(king). When I turn on my phone it freeze on the LG's start up image. I've do a recovery with Rom manager but is the same. Please help me!

[Q] Problem with texture in several games

Hi,
Yesterday I installed marcellusbe's rom for my Galaxy i5800 and everything's running smooth with it, except some games (Cut the rope, Angry Birds, ...): the background is white, some objects aren't visible, ...
I started searching for it and Chainfire3D should be able to solve this. I'm very new at this and adjusting settings (Reduce texture quality / unroll textures / ...) or installing plugins doesn't seem to work for me.
Is there another way to solve this or am I just doing something wrong?

Marcel's latest alpha8 release does not have samsung's gpu drivers and is working with tom3q's openfimg which is still in development and some features are yet to be implemented. So some of the games contains white textures..chainfire 3d indeed makes some improvents but until all the openfimg features are implemented you can expect white textures in several games and apps..
Do check out the development thread for openfimg and its updates.

You can try installing the Beta EGL driver with CF3D (don't worry about the warning, cause it worked for me), and also, overclock to 1000mhz!

I installed the beta EGL driver and it isn't working with and without the texture settings. I guess I'll just wait till there is a newer version of this rom? But in some demonstrating movies you can see cut the rope working...

Yeah..you should also check the updates for Openfimg drivers as its is is our primary graphics driver and helps to resolve the white texture problems..

Download and install the drivers in chainfire3D(unzip them in the root of your sd card )
Then select unroll textures and choose the PowerVR plugin and you are good to go......
These settings work for me for nfs shift and gangsta wch...

yesterday i downloaded this game 'FRONTLINE COMMANDO 2' (size ~ 80 MB) on my phone but i am having problems running it. its not even HD with big file size , just 80 MB but its not running smoothly. it lags all the time.
my device - samsung galaxy core GT i8262 *rooted* (4.1.2)
is there any way (app/mod?) i can fix this ?

Try overclocking your phone or install seeder.

First of all play game in low graphic mode (if it have a option like that)
Use Greenify app to hibernate apps that keeps working in background and eating your ram
Install seeder and set it to extreme mode
Overclock your Phone using any cpu manager app
#You can also uninstall some bloatware apps using root uninstaller.

i am using greenify and have already removed most of the bloatwares .
i wasn't aware about overclocking so i Googled and found that i need to have custom kernel to overclock the cpu.
i have stock ROM and kernel so i dont know if can do it .
(would appreciate if anyone can paste a link of guide on overclocking in galaxy core devices)

you can overclock your cpu using some apps..
that won't give the perfect results to you (bcoz of not having a custom kernel) but will increase processing power a bit..
It will heat up your phone too
give it a try..

No app will overclock the CPU if the kernel does not support overclocking. Do not talk if you don't know what you are talking about.

Exactly, stock ROMs never ever support overclocking. And there is still no custom rom/kernel for galaxy core that can do so.

i tried an app from play store which is used to overclock cpu.. [this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.danez.cpusaver ]
it didn't worked for me that well but it increase the power of my cpu a bit.. thats what i also told him in my above reply.
The change was not shown in app but while using that app i can see the difference in my phone. I tried playing asphalt 8 in my core but it lags so much but when i started using cpu manager app the game stopped lagging. Thats why i told him to try that app & i know all about the things that i am talking about

it didn't worked for me that well but it increase the power of my cpu a bit.. thats what i also told him in my above reply.
The change was not shown in app but while using that app i can see the difference in my phone. I tried playing asphalt 8 in my core but it lags so much but when i started using cpu manager app the game stopped lagging. Thats why i told him to try that app & i know all about the things that i am talking about

I think you just set your CPU frequency to a constant 1.2GHz.. or just changed the governor to performace.

Yes I set the frequency to a constant 1.2GHz and that increased my core's performance a *little_bit

So, at first i tried 'RAM Manager Pro' in 'Hard Gaming' mode and it did work but to a little extent.
then i tried 'Seeder 2.0' and it was much better. Though the game still lags a bit but its playable now and it has option to
enable/disable it whenever i want to play the game. I will continue using seeder for now.
