Should we test if msm7225 has GPU???
Are you willing to donate the maker of the kernel/drivers?
Some help here with half compiled drivers
There are much discussions about the GPU in the msm7225 his brother the msm7227 has got a GPU and i almost the same
there are 2 ways to fond out if we got a GPU.......!
1. open yous phone remove the proccesor chip from your phone and inspect it on a GPU(i think this is kinda hard)
2. Build a ROM with the right drivers and look what happens in a 3d benchmark/game
* MSM7225
The MSM7225 chipset includes a 528 MHz ARM11 processor with a floating point unit (FPU). A 400 MHz modem processor, 320 MHz DSP, hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, integrated Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS capabilities, a 5-megapixel camera and 30 fps WVGA video encode / decode are also included.
* MSM7227
The MSM7227 chipset includes a 600 MHz ARM11 processor with a floating point unit (FPU). A 400 MHz modem processor, 320 MHz DSP, hardware-accelerated 3D graphics, integrated Bluetooth 2.1 and GPS capabilities, an 8-megapixel camera and 30 fps WVGA video encode / decode are also included.
Meaby one of the FPU/DSP/Modem arent enabled too because as it seems the msm7225 is much slower than the msm7227 but if you look here the only performance difrence is the clock speed but we alredy OC til 700 MHz so i think our phones can do more than they do now.
If we find some linux/android experts they could help testing and comiling and meaby we can enable the listed things
i compiled kernel 2.6.29 :
- with 3D driver = yes
- and 3d drivers = m (module)
u can test what u want in egl.CFG AND ADRENO DRIVERS AND OPENGL2
hOPE THIS WILL HELP U WITH PLAYING
ATTACHED ONLY KERNEL's FOR KITCHEN zImage's
Maybe we can eventually flash modems/radios (if we get the drivers for that)! It could give us better reception and maybe better battery life!

nothing
will be slow
we dont have source for touchscreen , dpad and for mouse driver
for speed i need to know exact locations for ram like 0x02000000 its in config file
the kernel config is from 8150 different device
kernel has l2 cache and so on unneeded stuff for our device so its slowing down probably
but anyway u could try it if u get eclair compiled with the .32 kernel string
so? it works? have anyone test it?
BTW my phone comes 600Mhz from factor and OCed 24/7 748Mhz stable
i think it have MSM7227

This would be amazing - but why wouldn't the GPU have been implemented already, if it IS there? (Why wouldn't a generic driver have worked for it?)

Cuz its probebly disabled so more ppl prefer a more expensive phone for a manufacturer its only 10 dollors more expensive to put a snapdragon in the phone the problem is that the phone market wpuld be screwed cuz phones get too cheap and the profit is tooo low

Hi Anryl. Can you make a boot.img with kernel for CM7 with 3d Driver?
Thanks
Sorry if im doing something wrong to bump this thread but i found some interesting things about the GPU in the MSM 7225....
I looked up the U8160, and found that it also uses the same chipset, and all the sites i look up i keep finding that it has the adreno 200 GPU. I dnt know if this has been added to the hardware of the U8160 but i wanna see if the kernel from the U8160 can run on my U8120... ill test tonight once i get home, but if it does ill try to report back here. I will try it with anryls CH beta 6, but i keep having probs when i make a boot.img with kernels manually, so i usually go by dx's kitchen instead.
Will report back soon...
Sorry for double posting
Well i flashed the kernel, not much changed except wifi is broken, everything else is completely the same, tried out angry birds and neocore, both exactly the same i dont think there is anything to do with the kernel, there may be files inside the rom that need to be modified aswell.

This is a kernel.
KERNEL BASED TO Korea .
I do not include the shift from the terminal using the command unless opperator rom includes it as standard. With this kernel works perfectly Bluetooth and wifi for ROM 21D.
Uploaded on OC to 1.3 and 1.2
GPU 400
Improvements and teaks several.
From time to test a first version, gradually add more options. Governors and modifications.
I can only thank SAMNO BEDWA And for explaining how to activate the baseband. What You Have 3 months with that. They are very large.

It seems that so often goes wrong at your end .. if you have the module opperator in your rom, you can do this to slow down.
Enter the terminal (in the market there are many)
# su
# Echo 1200000000> / proc / opperator
As long as you hold this value alone does not restart your phone .. tomorrow I'll upload another kernel with less speed.

Have a question, i use script manager with a script as root in systems folder and use the above command but doesnt change the clock. I want to try 1350 or higher.
hello
could you test M3D Benchmark v1.15 PowerVR (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370745&page=16) i want to understand how much GPU OC will affect on performance.
excuse me if my post doesn't relate here.
please feedback in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370745&page=23
thank you
Amazing kernel. Works perfectly with the acura 21d rom.
Would it be possible to run a script to disable the key backlights on boot? They're pointless since most people have already memorised the layouts of the keys, they're annoyingly bright at night and also only appear when pressed. (No point knowing you pressed the wrong key after pressing it)
This can be done through running the script
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness
chmod 444 /sys/class/leds/keyboard-backlight/brightness

it basically sets the brightness file to a value of 0
Could you make this work with 21d and the 3d ics theme in the theme and app section because i can install the new kernel fine but when i add the ics 1.2 theme it goes full prossessor 100% and i really like this theme and want to use it and the kernel. Thanks

I think yes, got a bootloop after trying pushing them on my phone..
Sorry to hear that . Maybe you could ask one of the devs how to enable them
Cheers

make note ! ALL DRIVERS are in the kernel for ALL ANDROIDS ! these are most likely to b lib files.. library files which can have a lot of improvements from ! library can contain the many things ! like how my dark video fix works !
Where did you push the lib files? /system/vendor/lib/egl or /system/lib/egl? Placing the lib files in /system/lib/egl will have no effect. Pushing them to vendor will result in a bootloop (i tried this a long time ago). Stock ROM finds its GPU drivers in the vendor directory. AOSP roms use the /lib/egl. The only lib gpu file we can use in Gingerbread would be libGLES_android.so (the benchmark change is minimal), then change egl.cfg to:
1 1 android
0 1 POWERVR_530_SGX530_125
Translates to: Use Hardware GPU for apps that ask for software rendering, Use Hardware GPU for common phone processes [e.g. Video Processing].

However, we can mod it to work with this device.
and if they release jb/kk which i believe they wont
we could port "jb" on this
kk is impossible, device doesnt meet the min requirements of kk

sg mini:
384 MB RAM, Qualcomm MSM7227, Adreno 200
totoro:
290 MB RAM, 830 MHz ARMv6, BCM Videocore iv.
And google says KK can "comfortably" run on devices with 312mb ram
so.... its a lil hard to predict if it could run on totoro...
however, JB May run...
Open GL can be handled.
camera and touch will be a very big speed braker on this one though
ONLY after it successfully boots on totoro... which again, cant be predicted
but i will go with a yes. with an improved Ramdisk we may be able to boot it
I wish we could make it have the source codes... and complete CM9 /10/10.1/11
Thanks for your concerning

yuea... bcm vidcore iv is better.
thats y it can handle opengl better... but since ram....
so... lags lags everywhere. :|
anyways... those are just my guesses.
there is no harm in building and testing is there ? haha. was just sharing what i felt like

Tassive cpu is from qualcomm
With full source
So overclocking and optimisation are available
Totoro cpu broadcomm
Incomplete sources- no actual overclocking and no optimisation
Galaxy y is very old i had it and its not good contender for KK

Wrong... wrong.
Those stats are for tass, not tassve. Tassve has exactly the same hardware as a Galaxy Y, and runs with the same BCM21553 CPU and VideoCore IV as totoro.
Remember,
Tass= GT-S5570
TassVe= GT-S5570I
totoro, tassve, cooperve and the Galaxy Pocket use the BCM21553 chipset.
It is true, however, that tass has full sources, and that is why they do have a somewhat stable KK.
Broadcom, like what madboy said, only released their sources because it was Raspberry Pi's second anniversary, not because of the petition. If it were, they would have released the sources shortly after the petition reached 10,000 signatures, but instead there was a lapse and they did not release it. Only on Feb 28, Raspberry Pi's 2nd anniversary did they release the sources. Even the main XDA site (not the forum) states that it was the anniversary that prompted Broadcom to release their sources.
Get your facts right.

I thought Broadcomm doesn't have the libs for camera or audio they are with samsung. So we are never gonna get it.
Correct me if i am wrong.

The question that is in my mind now. Those libs are written on Java or C++ or what?
