Has anyone found a way to unlock this phone to use on different carriers? If so please let me know
Thanks,
Indian
I paid online for a SIM unlock code, and it worked. I took out my AT&T SIM and inserted my buddy's T-Mobile one, got prompted to enter code, entered it, rebooted and after several minutes I got a signal and an SMS from T-Mobile welcoming me to their network. Made one call and it went through. Haven't been able to test it further, but it looks like voice & SMS work. Not sure about data.
The site I used specifically was cellunlocker.net, but there are many. The code cost me 28.99 USD. Hope this helps.
http://www.Unlockthatphone.com i found a guy that posted this on youtube. its another site ive tried it personally and it works its 34 buck but it unlocks it for sure so u can use any carrier. ive tried my tmobile sim and my global sim in it. took about 10 minutes for them to send the unlock code works great

Hello, I got an unlock code for my g2x through tmobile, and the instructions say to boot it up with a non-Tmobile sim inserted. Does anyone know how to get to unlock input screen without a non-Tmobile sim available? thank you for your time.
(I read some people advised to dial #073887* to bring up the screen, but no luck. I guess this is for att phone only?)
I can't remember off hand but a google search can find it, it is same process as the O2x. However when I tried to enter my unlock code with the T-Mobile SIM in it, it didn't work. I needed a non T-Mobile SIM for it to work.

Try this method
http://www.lg-phones.org/how-to-unlock-the-lg-optimus-gt540.html
it worked with my Optimus T and I am sure it will work with G2x as well (but I have to wait for a couple of months for free unlocked code from T-Mobile).
note:
you MUST input from dialer
2945#*999#
while #*999# is G2x model number (P999)
do have have to replace "540" to "999"? I think i just going to ask someone to let me an att simcard (All my family and friends are using tmobile/sprint....it's hard to get an att simcard for me....*sigh*)

Yes, you MUST use 999 instead of 540 because #*xxx# is your phone model.
Hi everyone,
I currently have a T-Mobile locked G1 which I got from a friend a while ago, and now my primary phone is broken. I would like to use the G1 for now, but upon booting with the AT&T SIM card inserted I am prompted for an unlock code. I called T-Mobile to get the unlock code and they told me that I have to be a customer to get the unlock code, but that any T-Mobile customer could call in for me and get the code.
If anyone with T-Mobile would be willing to phone in to T-Mobile for me with the IMEI and get the unlock code for me, I would be extremely grateful. I can also send you a few bucks via paypal if you like for the assistance.
i understand where you are coming from but actually its not that any Tmo customer can get it unlocked its actually the phone needs to be used at least for a few calls on that customers acct. I work for Tmo so have come across this a time or two. You may try and Google Search it a bit or look in the forums and see if there is any unlocks that carrier unlock in the G1 forum or maybe a website online that would get you that unlock code..

Alright, I appreciate the help anyway. The rep I talked to said any TMo customer could do it, or she could give me the number to Google and see if they can help, so I guess I'll try that. Thanks.
So I've done a large amount of searching, not only on XDA but elsewhere to find a real 'answer' to my question, but I haven't found anything concrete, hence this thread.
I have aquired a Droid 2 Global from VZW for free, and I want to use it with my US ATT SIM, on the US ATT GSM Network.
Things i have done:
- Flashed the phone to the stock OS in order to....
- Flash the radio so it accepts ATT GSM signal
- Aquired the sim unlock code from ATT for my current phone/sim (I'm unclear on exactly what this whole sim unlock process is about, perhaps why I'm asking)
The phone boots, but when I have my SIM inserted, it asks for the unlock code.... What exactly IS it asking for?
The SIM unlock that I recieved from ATT doesn't work.. (I assume this is the unlock for my sim, in my current phone?)
What is the next step, if this is possible? I've looked at getting the phone unlock code via ebay, or one of the piggyback devices like TurboSIM, but I'm unsure what will work, if anything will work?
Help??
Thanks in advance for any info provided
It asks for the unlock code you can get from VZW's Global Support if you are a VZW customer.

Well, since I'm at ATT customer, how would I go about getting this code? I do have a friend that works for VZW, which is how i got the phone, and he is willing to assist me. Can he provide it?
The phone must be on an active line of service, and the billing history must be clean for the past 6 months.
If your friend works for Global Support, then maybe. If not, I doubt it.
Hmph..
I guess I overestimated the difficulty of getting this to work. It was just another case of having to get the unlock code from the phone itself via IMEI number, and yahtzee, working as I had hoped.
For some reason I had the notion that it was significantly more difficult after reading all of the posts about trying to get other SIMs to work.. but its actually very very straight forward and easy.. it just seemed that nobody had ever really made it clear that a US ATT sim could work on a VZW D2G handset with US ATT service.
Thanks for your input!
I have had my SGH-1727r since it launched and it is my first Android Phone. I am doing some traveling and Rogers will not unlock a device under contract, and in my experience give you the run around if its off contract.
I read many forums on here and a few google searches, and decided to go with cellunlock . net and selected unlock any rogers phone. They wanted $18, another google search and I have a coupon code "android50" and got 50% off my rogers android phone.
I paid $8 and change, less than 12 hours later I have my code. Instructions give 4 ways to do it. The only way that works is with another sim (I used an ancient Fido sim) Insert the non rogers sim, enter code, VIOLA!
I hope this helps other beginners.

I called rogers and told them I was going to Caribbean and I was going to need the unlock code.
The first guy is like no, so I wanted someone else, he said no too, so I wanted someone else, she said no too, so I said I was cancelling, I got my code
The whole process was about 30 minutes.

Ok so I'm in tmobile prepaid.
I have a galaxy s10e that is was purchased full price from someone else. We verified everything at a tmobile store. The unlock was approved and i got the email approval. The tmobile device unlock app for this phone doesn't work. So I have to go to settings>network>more>network unlock
Or something like that. I get an error message that ends in 0x86
On both temp and perm unlock
I already went through it with tech support 17 diff calls. Nothing. Nobody knows what this error is. Ine tech guy gave me two sets of numbers. Both 8 digits. I believe these are the nck or unlock codes but my question or rather what I need help in is inputting these codes. I tried the generic ones I found online to no avail. The dial codes is what I'm talking about. Also when I reset with unlocked rom it still says to put tmobile sim. And doesn't give me a option to input unlock code that I have
I even called Samsung and they cant help me bc it's a tmobile phone. Tmobile doesn't know how to input the code when I do mention it. And yes I reset the phone put a diff sim. Tried with Abd w/o wifi. Everything.
So now I flashed the U1 rom on it amd the unlock options in the network settings is no longer there. Obviously bc u flashed the unlocked rom on it.
Any suggestions? Tmobile is giving me minimal help bc I'm a prepaid customer
