Hi Friends,
Recently I lost my Sony Xperia X10i. I'm in the process of claim insurance. Now my question to my friends here - Which android mobile I need to buy. I'm a big fan of Android .
I'm from India, so please suggest me that is available in India. My budget is up to 30K .
Thanks & Regards,
Naresh Kumar
I can say go for Samsung galaxy S Or HTC Desire HD Htc Desire HD Will be available during this month. I 've heard prices will be around 35K But Battery drain is the problem in HD I guess
Depends on what you are looking for.
Nexus S or Galaxy S will give you the best processing power, Galaxy S also has the super AMOLED screen. The HTC Desire Z is very overclockable, which can put it above the Galaxy S even, and has a slide-out keyboard.
HTC Desire HD also has a big screen with good construction and great software (HTC Sense...best software skin on Android).
If you want plain unmodified Android then wait for the Nexus S, which would be the only phone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
hTC all the way
Desire Z or Desire HD
HTC desire is a good choice.
I have HTC smart and am happy with its features and apps. I think HTC desire will be also best I had just deal with HTC and its first time I am using Android. you will get many best deals at this Christmas.
Good Luck!

i will NEVER own another samsung smartphone... terribly disappointing expierence with the galaxy s series in its entierty....
ive found that most people who have an SGS and LOVE it, have either never had ANY smartphone previously, or never owned an HTC smartphone to understand what they are missing
i just switched yesterday from an iphone 4 to an HTC Droid Incredible. its, in my book, 1000x better than the iphone. yea it doesnt have the front facing camera like the Evo, but usin it on the iphone for facetime purely raped the battery life. hence why i went w/o. im still tinkering with it, like i did both my iphones, and i'll post a full review for those who wanna kno more about it (and if there isnt one already).
Motorola Milestone 2 is a good idea.. but i'd wait for Nexus S or lg star..
LG STAR HAS A TEGRA 1GHZ PROCESSOR.. but youll have to wait longer than nexus S for that

Yeah i came from a 3gs,iPhones are boring. You could probably get a Htc HD2 cheap and you can port android to it,there very good at running android, fast, stable, they even beat the Nexus one and desire at running it
IF you like options, get a cheap HD2 lol. It can run Wm 6.5, Android, and ubuntu and possibly even wp7. and the hardware is still good. Otherwise Desire HD sounds good but I highly recommend the HD2 for versatility
I will be changing my phone in June. Right now I have HTC Hero, and I just love it, it is by far the best phone I have ever owned. Can not stand Iphones.....
So my question, is whats on the horizon ???? like I say, it will be June 2011 when I upgrade, what should I be looking at ?
Thanks
Ian

30k INR is about 660 USD, right?
you could buy HTC Desire with that, I think..
or perhaps, just buy HTC HD2.. with cedesmith desireHD2 build, 2000 quadrant score is just a small number..
I've been with T-Mobile for around 7 years and have 7 lines. We have tried about every phone out there. One year we went through 103 phones. We have owned every myTouch phone, including the Fender but excluding the new one, almost all of the BlackBerry phones made, many nokia phones, motorola phones and of course countless htc phones (including the HD7, returned the next morning).
No matter what platform HANDS DOWN the Samsung Vibrant S (I guess that would include AT&Ts Galaxy S) is the best out there. My kids had the inexpensive samsung flip phones and they were great, but beyond the very low end Samsung I have never been really happy with their phones that were almost smart phones, more like frustrated because you could "almost" do what lets say the HTC phones could but your Samsung was always not set up for all the same apps, stuck with all kinds of just small bumps.
Just this weekend 3 people were deciding what phone to get and they are now all getting the Vibrant once there contract is up. I personally added a line just to get this phone. Now my Vibrant in rooted (never done that before) and is customized with BlackFroyo I got off here. Of course the 3 friends all want to do the same.
Samsung has all the technology, thank goodness T-Mobile got their hands on it!!! Buy it you won't be sorry.
get the nexus S, period

I must admit I would have agreed with you before I bought the Vibrant. We've been with T-Mobile for 7 years and have a total of 7 lines... I won't repeat what I already posted but have gone though over 103 phones (unfortunately, kids) in one year about 90% smart phones.
Samsung DID IT RIGHT with the VIBRANT!!!!
I love window based phones as well and REALLY lean towards HTC until now. Returned the HD7 within 14 hrs, maybe I'll try again once it's more established.
So I bought my first choice and everyone who sees it or uses it (it's rooted with BlackFroyo theme) has decided this is the phone they'll be getting.
What was so disappointing about the Galaxy S Series? The working phones we have right now are 2 myTouch slides, 1 myTouch G1, 1 myTouch Fender, partially broken Samsung Galaxy (I agree with you about this phone), 1 or 2 different BlackBerrys, but returned the HTC HD7 & HTC Pro Touch 2, & gave away the Slide to get this Vibrant and now I have 6 others under my roof who want me to buy them a Vibrant.
I know everyone has different opinions and needs but to imply that owners of the Galaxy S Series have less experience with SmartPhones than those who own HTC phones is just a little narrow minded. I did feel the way you did but it was the "NEWEST" HTC phone that pushed me to the Samsung. Reviews everywhere were overwhelming that if you were going to buy a T-Mobile phone get the Vibrant.
-nothing personal, it would just be nice if you would back your statements up with some facts because it sounds like you're talking about another Samsung
Buy HTC Desire Z its a great phone.

What is best for me may not be for you, said that, theres no such "best" phone.
So I'm trying to decide on which T-Mobile phone to get hopefully next week. I had the Nexus One and it broke so for the moment I'm stuck with a blackberry and not happy with it at all.
I'm deciding on either between the Nexus S or the HTC Sensation. Any help from you guys on deciding which one to get would be great.
Also, if there is any other phone you might think would be great, let me know.. I'm planning on rooting it and everything
HTC Sensation 4G definitely. Personally, I love Sense, but even if you don't, the hardware is great, and I believe there are already a good number of AOSP ROMs for it. (and it has a front facing camera)
if you plan on modding it, then i would consider the community size for each phone.
the sensation has a slightly bigger community then the nexus s (how do i know? just go to forum.xda-developers.com and compare the stats for the phones)
id say you should wait for the samsung galaxy s II
I would recommend the HTC Sensation. This is a great phone with Sense 3.0 already on it. There is some great development for custom ROMS on this phone. And if you don't like Sense then you can drop an AOSP ROM on it and eliminate it. I think the Sensation gives you the best of both worlds, Sense and AOSP.
Here are some excellent choices:
-Samsung Dart
-Samsung Gravity
-Optimus T
-Wildfire S
-Samsung exhibit
-Moto Defy
-Moto Cliq 2
-Samsung Behold
-G2
Here are some high-quality Android phones that feature a great price point, these phones are good for normal usage. They pack quite the punch, though not the same punch as a Sensation, but still punch none the less. When accompanied by a 200MB Data plan, 500Min, and Unl Txt, this combinations leads to large savings and a good Android experience. If you remove txt you'll save yourself even more money per month, don't let the these not so high-end phones scare you off. They have good reviews from users and you should consider one of the above, they'll help you appreciate android even more, and the phones have .6-1GHz cores, with HVGA, causing slick and smooth performance. These Socs are handy for lite usage, their Accelerated GPUs are good for games like Angry birds if that's what you like, web browsing could be on par with the Sensation. Which from some people I've heard the browser is not as snappy due to no HW accel being enabled. Please carefully pick your next phone, if you don't wait for ICS.

Don't buy anything that has been on the market for more than 4 or 5 months because it will be so underpowered by your next upgrade you will hate it for the last year of your contract. If you are on TMO and don't get the Sensation, you have a problem. I would pick up that phone in a heartbeat if I could get it on my carrier.
Thanks guys and I"m thinking about getting the Sensation.. or save my $$$ and wait for the new google phone?? Nexus Prime??
galaxy s2 is coming out...
It's hard to find a phone that will tie you over for a while. I've been rocking my Nexus S, unknown to the fact that Wifi Calling was the ONLY thing missing from it...after trying out a friend's G2 and using Wifi Calling in the basement, it's drastically changed my view on a lot of the T-Mobile lineup.
I've been disappointed with T-Mo's decision to equip their variant of the Galaxy S II with a snapdragon instead of the exynos, and it may be an uphill climb to get decent rom/dev support (mind you, this is speculation and may not be a hindrance at all). I've been looking at the Sensation, but I'm not entirely convinced it's the end-all be-all. I could be COMPLETELY wrong, but I'm not seeing its potential just yet.
Nexus Prime will be an ideal choice, but I will strongly look at more 'branded' phones due to the invaluable wifi calling ability.
I hate hard decisions

that post really read like a bad craigslist ad..
the G2, the cliq 2, the defy, and the exhibit are all legitimately great phones, if you don't want the latest pick the sensation, sell it new in box, and buy one of these on craigslist.
if you're going prepaid and can't spend more than $150, then the wildfire s or optimus t new..
suggesting the Behold especially is outright crazy.
I very much enjoy the versatility of the htc sensation 4g with the Android Revolution HD 3.6.11 rom.

Using one here -decent phone, but make sure to do some sound checks. Maybe mine is unique/bad, but I find on max vol it isn't very loud.

I've put it off for as long as I could, but it's come time to put my trusty captivate to rest and get a new Android. I've been with AT&T for 2 yrs, and really don't have a preference on carrier and am willing to switch to Sprint or Verizon, just not T-Mob.
Due to Amazons crazy penny sale, and black Friday I thought now's the time and wanted to get some opinions on a few phones. As mentioned, I've been with my Galaxy S for 2 yrs and have loved every minute of it, and while one of the Galaxy SII variants is the obvious choice I've also been checking out HTC and a few of the other brands.
I loved my captivates screen... I'm rough on phones and it's held up to everything I've put it through; it also has great depth and is crystal clear even compared to my brothers Droid X2 much to his surprise lol. Dual Core is a must of course, and as far as updatability goes I'm sure I'll have it rooted and rom'd asap so I'm not that concerned with "Will it get ICS?" like some other folks will be. I've been rom'd since I got the Cliq ages ago, so no worries there
I guess I'd like to hear some opinions on whats best of the bunch with the Galaxy SII variants, and which other companies/phones are comparable to those in terms of power, etc... I'm not new to Android world by any means, but I've lived in my Samsung powered bubble for the past year or so which means I don't know squat about the new, and its overwhelming to take it all in.
Any help or advice would be appreciated, I figure once I can narrow the phones down a bit I'll start looking at carriers a little more and see who's got the best 2-line family plan.
Well for black friday (Boxing Day...or week here in canada) the Sprint SGSII is a great buy. But if you have that extra money to spend and if you dont need an SD Slot, get a Galaxy Nexus. It's Google's flagship phone after all.
in my opinion, the GSII on at&t is the best looking...thats why i have one
i'd say either the sprint to at&t version would be great, or a galaxy nexus, but in my opinion, i think the GSII with ICS in going to be a better phone than the galaxy nexus
The Nexus would definitely be on my list, but its not going to come out here for until December so it's out for now. HTC and LG are the only other two brands I'm looking at right now; I like the Razr, but had bad experiences with Motorola in the past, so I'm on the fence about that one...
LG is just as bad as moto, maybe even worse. look at the 2x. It's either sammy or HTC.
Being in Alaska, USA I have very limited choice on carriers. AT&T is the only "BIG One" up here.
I also have been using the Captivate and with various ROMs recently to keep things fresh. I to have been looking and I do love the Samsung screens but I might jump for once. Been debating with myself on another Samsung like Galaxy Nexus or the Sony Ericsson Arc S, unlocked only $380 and in various colors. SE did announce official ICS update for this phone.
Samsung, cuz it has the most awesome screens or HTC because of the overall quality. Don't think you can really go wrong with any of those 2
HTC Evo 3D 1.2 ghz dual core, HDMI out, Wimax and 3D movies, photos and video recording. Whilst its a lil gimmiky its Loads of FUN. Otherwise it sounds like one of samsungs latest offerings is the go.
What about Nokia N95, I heard it's an iPhone killer

I am going to be the LG-P930 troll that I am and say "LG-P930".
On a more serious note, I can show you anything about this phone.
Attention!
In light of all the posts that are deleted and/or closed due to many off-topic posts about what device a person should buy, I have created this official thread.
Although XDA is not a place to extensively talk about what device person should buy, some forums permit it. So to help keep the threads a little cleaner, you may post your questions here.
Granted there are other sites more into device reviews and comparisons, but in the interest of keeping some people happy, and to avoid getting posts deleted, this thread is created for people who have no idea what device to get.
In the end, you should still march your happy self to a shop, and play with the devices that are available. Only then will you be satisfied with your purchase.
Any posts elsewhere asking such questions, that should be in this thread, will still be deleted or closed.
Thanks, and Hope you use this.
What should I buy, an iPhone 4S or wait for the Galaxy S III?
Just kidding.
I'm waiting for the HTC FIVE XXL.

Not sure about where he got his but I bought my wife one last year for that price from someone I found on craigslist that had it a short while before they switched carriers. It was like new and with a case. My wife still won't let me flash it was a custom ICS ROM though.

I could sell you mine for $150 when I get the Xperia Ion. It's pretty much brand new, since I got a replacement from AT&T because of a defect that was covered by my warranty. I even have a CaseMate hard case, and screen protector.
P.S.
Who else is getting the Xperia Ion over the One XL from AT&T?
A galaxy nexus is the only phone out there that I think is a go.

I just upgraded to the one x about a week ago. Best choice I've made in awhile
HTC one X is an absolute killer. However, there are rumors circling,HTC gonna launch a new beast in Q3.
I want to get Galaxy Nexus
I am tempted to get the unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus. I wish it had more than 16 GB or be able to have an sd card but I could live with that.
I am on the fence right now, I can upgrade next month and I am just torn as to what phone to get. I bought my inspire off craigslist a few months ago and I love it, so I am thinking of going with the One-X, but I also have heard that the new Nexus phone could be released for all carriers this year. Hearing that, I may have to hold onto the Inspire a while longer.
Since my economics are not that good, i usually get previous generation devices because the price is under the half of the initial cost.
I choose a device that can get the ICS after rooting and has pretty good performance. This is the INSPIRE 4G. Beautiful and capable.
Some guy on AT&T network go to WiMax technology with Evo, and gave the Inspire 4G on ebay because is working with Sim card. He said that he used it only for 5 days on a trip to Europe. Buy now price 269 USD including 8GB memory card, + 9,3 USD for a 16GB memory card, +1,8 for a silicon case.
So with under 300 USD i have a strong device in my pocket which has nothing to be jealous of the new devices with updated ICS.
go with the inspire.
Recently traded a iphone 3gs for a Inspire... Lovin' it
Will try Nexus 4...

Easy, get or stick with the Inspire 4G
Only drawback is lame battery life but in all honesty I still prefer mine over any newer phone....mine is rooted and allows me to tailor it to my liking.
And yes, I have played with a Galaxy s3 or Iphone 4,4s,5 or note 2....every single one doesn't have the snappiness of my inspire running MIUI
Inspire has the removable battery and memory card......not too common with newer phones.....

I'm sorry, I loved my inspire to death but it simply doesn't hold a candle to the note 2 and s3 in terms of smoothness. The inspire, unfortunately, has been surpassed and is nearly two years old at this point.

Just updated my inspire to 4.2.1 and loving it. Wish I had the cash for the Nexus 4, or even a Galaxy Nexus, though.
I know Sprint service is terrible but my plan is so cheap because I get 22% off. Any ways I have had the Gnex for 2 days and it's good but the screen is kind of grainy looking. So I want to get thoughts on which phone people feel will be the best deal over the next 2 years.

So it's basically SAMOLED vs S-LCD 2?
Well, I've always liked S-LCD because everything is crisp and every viewing angle is a pleasure to see. Even with SAMOLED+, I always preferred how LCD looked. However, it's undeniable that you'll get worse battery life with LCD. So the choice there is what's more important to you.
GNex also has the biggest dev community, so 2 years from now: you'll still have a sure thing versus a phone we don't even know if the bootloader will be unlocked for sure.
On the other hand, the specs for Sprint's HTC phone is better. Plus a MicroSD slot!
I picked up my Evo LTE earlier this week and couldn't be happier. The size and weight of the phone is just perfedt. And its so thin. And probably my favorite part is the incredible camera speed. It is faster than any camera I've used.
I played with the gnex at sprint. While the idea of playing with open source and long-term support and updates sound enticing, the overall feel if the new Evo won me over. Plus, I've grown fond of sense UI
But you'll enjoy either device I'm sure.

vry nice...
its really awesome... lyk it to mch..
HTC EVO Number one !!
i would go for the galaxy nexus any day no matter what carrier its with
I'm going to have to make the same difficult decision this fall. I think I'll stick with the Evo family, but really they both seem like great phones with great dev communities.
I've had the Galaxy Nexus for a little over two weeks and it's great, but overall I think aside from AOSP ICS, the Evo 4G LTE is better.
So i need to make this decision tomorrow. My mother has my original hero running cm7 and has been working great for her. I upgraded too the 3VO this past July. I am not a sense fan at all. I been running MIUI for the past 7 months =no 4g or 3d support. I could careless about 3d, the phone just had a great processor at the time. So Ive broken it twice. 1st time i called asurion (cracked screen) and got replacement. 2nd time (cracked screen) .I bought a cheap digitizer and installed it myself. The problem is the cheap digitizer never worked 100% right to begin with. I then dropped the phone in the toilet 1 month ago. I managed to work with it up till now where the digitizer is so bad i cant even unlock my screen. Asurion wants 100$ for a replacement. I called sprint told them i dont even want the phone anymore since its basically EOL. They told me im eligible for early upgrade. That option costs 115$ which can be billed to my fathers account (NP he makes enough $$$ in Saudi Arabia). I have to purchase my replacement or new phone myself. Im sick of the evo 3d. I want a phone that is gonna have full CM9 or MIUI support. Im aware the galaxy nexus already does. Does the EVO 4G LTE look promising for support? Or is HTC gonna be a pain in the ass with their closed source proprietary bull****.
I dont care about a micro sd if the nexus comes with 32gb internal.
I prefer battery life.
The question is will the Qualacomm LTE be NOTICEABLY faster than the nexus TI OMAP?
Im paying for this myself (23yrs old). I wanna get the best possible deal. Will sprint buy back my broken evo 3d if I restore it to stock and act like it works? What would you do?? Appreciate any advice. godless XDA community
camara this camara that wait untill the galaxy to kick ur but 20 pic is shutter mode beat that
I think the Galaxy Nexus would be better, honestly having the latest Android version is such an advantage compared to other phones. All the apps that come out will be designed specifically for AOSP and you won't be left behind in app and OS support in let's say 2 years.
Which phone did you end up going with? I ran into the same issue and since I was a big Evo supporter I stuck with the Evo family, I'm a loyalist for some reason
