HTC Evo 4G lte or Galaxy Nexus on Sprint - General Topics

I know Sprint service is terrible but my plan is so cheap because I get 22% off. Any ways I have had the Gnex for 2 days and it's good but the screen is kind of grainy looking. So I want to get thoughts on which phone people feel will be the best deal over the next 2 years.

So it's basically SAMOLED vs S-LCD 2?
Well, I've always liked S-LCD because everything is crisp and every viewing angle is a pleasure to see. Even with SAMOLED+, I always preferred how LCD looked. However, it's undeniable that you'll get worse battery life with LCD. So the choice there is what's more important to you.
GNex also has the biggest dev community, so 2 years from now: you'll still have a sure thing versus a phone we don't even know if the bootloader will be unlocked for sure.
On the other hand, the specs for Sprint's HTC phone is better. Plus a MicroSD slot!

I picked up my Evo LTE earlier this week and couldn't be happier. The size and weight of the phone is just perfedt. And its so thin. And probably my favorite part is the incredible camera speed. It is faster than any camera I've used.
I played with the gnex at sprint. While the idea of playing with open source and long-term support and updates sound enticing, the overall feel if the new Evo won me over. Plus, I've grown fond of sense UI
But you'll enjoy either device I'm sure.

vry nice...
its really awesome... lyk it to mch..

HTC EVO Number one !!

i would go for the galaxy nexus any day no matter what carrier its with

I'm going to have to make the same difficult decision this fall. I think I'll stick with the Evo family, but really they both seem like great phones with great dev communities.

I've had the Galaxy Nexus for a little over two weeks and it's great, but overall I think aside from AOSP ICS, the Evo 4G LTE is better.

So i need to make this decision tomorrow. My mother has my original hero running cm7 and has been working great for her. I upgraded too the 3VO this past July. I am not a sense fan at all. I been running MIUI for the past 7 months =no 4g or 3d support. I could careless about 3d, the phone just had a great processor at the time. So Ive broken it twice. 1st time i called asurion (cracked screen) and got replacement. 2nd time (cracked screen) .I bought a cheap digitizer and installed it myself. The problem is the cheap digitizer never worked 100% right to begin with. I then dropped the phone in the toilet 1 month ago. I managed to work with it up till now where the digitizer is so bad i cant even unlock my screen. Asurion wants 100$ for a replacement. I called sprint told them i dont even want the phone anymore since its basically EOL. They told me im eligible for early upgrade. That option costs 115$ which can be billed to my fathers account (NP he makes enough $$$ in Saudi Arabia). I have to purchase my replacement or new phone myself. Im sick of the evo 3d. I want a phone that is gonna have full CM9 or MIUI support. Im aware the galaxy nexus already does. Does the EVO 4G LTE look promising for support? Or is HTC gonna be a pain in the ass with their closed source proprietary bull****.
I dont care about a micro sd if the nexus comes with 32gb internal.
I prefer battery life.
The question is will the Qualacomm LTE be NOTICEABLY faster than the nexus TI OMAP?
Im paying for this myself (23yrs old). I wanna get the best possible deal. Will sprint buy back my broken evo 3d if I restore it to stock and act like it works? What would you do?? Appreciate any advice. godless XDA community

camara this camara that wait untill the galaxy to kick ur but 20 pic is shutter mode beat that

I think the Galaxy Nexus would be better, honestly having the latest Android version is such an advantage compared to other phones. All the apps that come out will be designed specifically for AOSP and you won't be left behind in app and OS support in let's say 2 years.

Which phone did you end up going with? I ran into the same issue and since I was a big Evo supporter I stuck with the Evo family, I'm a loyalist for some reason

Inspire or Atrix?

This is the big question for me. On the one hand I love HTC devices and the screen size (i am a long time HD2 user until I flashed it to death ). On the other hand, it seems like its a rehash of 1 year old technology, with that terrible battery and camera (im using a Captivate and the quality diffefence compared to any HTC device I have used is massive), and the Atrix looks incredible on paper (battery, dual core, peripherals, screen resolution etc). Trouble is, whenever I get a non HTC device, I spend days tryimg to get it to have the look and feel of an HTC device!

Im the same way. I have a captivated know and will be getting an Inspire. Im really not a fan of Motorola phones. I want either the Inspire or the Infuse. Leaning toward the Inspire in big way tho.

Yea, I'm going with HTC, they just seem better built and like you said, with my other Android phones I try to make my non HTC to look like htc, lol!

I love HTC devices too. Even with the older tech and a little bit less in the way of specs, I'd choose the Inspire any day. I'm not a fan of Motorola phones regardless which carrier they've been on. I just haven't had a good one dating all the way back past the razr and up to the first droid. Next, because of the bootloader stuff they did with the Droid X, I imagine they'll try to lock the Atrix down even if they say they're going to work with devs. I love my Aria, no problems at all and it's been a great phone. I kinda see the inspire as a big brother to the Aria which is why I'm going for it as soon as I can.
The Inspire does have its shortcoming but I like AT&T and I like HTC. I'm willing to sacrifice on a few features (battery, CPU, front camera) in order to get what I think is better quality and user experience of an HTC phone. I'm currently still on a Tilt 2 and I will be able to upgrade in May. If at MWC this month nothing better that would hit AT&T this year from HTC is shown then I'll just go with the Inspire.
I'm thinking since the Inspire is being introduced at a lower price than the Atrix then perhaps a purchase at full price for the Inspire with no contract might be worth it in order to save the upgrade credit for something later that might come out toward the end of the year.
I had both in my hand this week, including the Atrix laptop dock. Very nice.
But I think the Inspire seemed more...quality. New Sense interface, great camera controls and efx, 8mp camera with VERY bright dual LED flash. And half the price.
Atrix + Laptop bundle will be $500 on contract. Atrix alone $199
Inspire is $99 on contract.
I'm leaning Inspire
I've had the HTC Inspire 4G in my hands for three days now (be sure to check out some of the videos and blogs posts I've written up already http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=940312) and I can say that you will not be disappointed with the Inspire. The unibody aluminum case makes the phone feel solid. I played around with the Atrix at CES last month and was not particularly impressed with the handset's external hardware. Also, the higher resolution screen looked a bit off with the home screen UI and many applications.
I don't know why people keep referring to the Inspire and Thunderbolt as being phones with rehashed technology from last year. Yes, the second generation Snapdragon processor did come out last year, but the first phones to use them only started showing up in late fall. If that's your standard for calling something old, the first devices powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 surfaced right around the same time.
The processor in this phone performs nearly 50% better than the 1GHz processor found in the EVO and Nexus One (first generation Snapdragon processors).
The Inspire is a well rounded handset with a good camera, decent batter life, and solid benchmark numbers. No, it will not outperform the Atrix or any other phone with a Tegra 2 processor, but at least you can trust the HTC quality and know that it'll probably get an official Android update somewhere down the road.
I originally wanted the Inspire, then once I saw the specs--I thought about the Atrix as my next phone. But now, I think I'll want the Inspire again.
Honestly, I really like the phone. Specs-wise, next the the Atrix, well--old tech.
Next to the Captivate I have now--more of the same. But I'd pick the Inspire over my Captivate any day of the week.
I'm just waiting until it comes out so I can ring warranty and have them send me one to fiddle around with.
Cyanogen. Enough said. HTC inspire is quality work. Yes not the best internal spec. Atrix looks impressive on paper. But for those of us who live on xda atrix will not do it for us. Inspire has many devs already working on roms themes and kernels. Ands its hspa+ it will be a upgrade from my N1.

ill be comming to android officialy from the Tilt 2 to inspire. i was wowed by the atrix but after thinking about what my boss has gone through with his droid and what i have seen i think the inspire will be the way to go!

I think flash happy people with Captivates should and will lean to the Inspire. Seeing as how hard it has been for the Dev community to cook something up rather than spliced together samsung roms. HTC devices just seem so much easier to dev. I am afraid that if I go to Motorola I will have the same issues. I don't know if it is just more Devs on HTC devices or that they are just that much easier to crack. Seems like the other devices are just harder to get anything good on them.

I can attest to this. I have had the captivate since a couple weeks after launch and have been yearning for some cyanogenmod love as well as any ui other than touchwiz. It seems like the devs for the captivate have a really hard time doing anything besides splicing cappy leaks together and while I have run some ready quick and efficient roms, I am always checking the htc forums with envy. I am going to get the infuse pending a better htc device coming out at MWD.

The Inspire is definitely the headsup winner.
Honestly who is really going to use that FrontFacingCamera anyways if it even had it other than make some real time video pron, hahaha
The only question Im asking myself is if there are any 1400mAh or 1500mAh aftermarket batteries that I can swap out after buying it.
1230 mAh is low in comparison to other phones with similar specs
Inspire 4G FTW!
Inspire all the way Atrix is full of hype and no promise. Locked boot, dual cores wont be utilized fully and motoblur is crap
I'm debating between the two as well.
I think what is keeping me from choosing is:
A) continued support from HTC and AT&T, as well as dev support if I wanted it (most likely would, I jailbroke my iphone about two months after I got it)
B) a huge part of the Atrix IS it's docks. I was never interested in them in the first place, just it's specs. So I'd almost be buying half a product
C) build quality! My plastic iphone 3G is literally about to split in half, right where the white plastic and bezel meet. I'm tired of plastic phones.
the Atrix is looking like this: higher res, biometric lock, dual core, RAM, battery
Inspire: Build quality, support, camera (debatable, but still more Megs)
it's not old tech, take a look at the comparisons of the Inspire and the Evo 4G, it's clearly a new device in a similar casing
http://mobile.downloadatoz.com/comparision,htc-inspire-4g-vs-htc-evo-4g-black-sprint.html
I for one look forward to getting mine on (next) Monday. I love my captivate, but I love HTC more.
I have also been wondering if I should leave the captivate and jump to the Atrix or Inspire. I am always one for the latest and greatest so I was leaning towards the Atrix or holding out for another 2 core phone. After reading a lot and browsing these pages I just about want to go for the inspire. Man do I hate decisions!!
After having a Nexus One I'm sold on HTC hardware. I'm going to get the Inspire and love it...at least until HTC releases something better.
However, since I think it will be months before HTC releases another compelling phone on AT&T, I'll be alright with that. The minute you buy technology it's already outdated, and either you can get used to that idea or you can spend exorbitant amounts of money trying to keep up.
I'll get the Inspire for $99 and use the money I save on it (plus the money I get from flipping my Nexus One) to get a tablet this spring. Can't wait for the first HTC Honeycomb tablet!
If Sony Ericsson is saying the Arc is their top tier phone well then the Inspire 4G is really not all that outdated and irrelevant.
Sure its not a dual-core behemoth but from what the early reviewers have said is with the specs it will have when its released, the smartphone is fast and responsive.
Check out my other thread on the similarties to the Arc and other Snapdragon phones and will see that with overclocking, bootloader and rom support this can potentially turn into a dual core beast performace wise.
What can you buy nowadays for $99 anyways, not even a burnt out everyday iPhone or extremely outdated Blackberry.
At least with the Inspire you know right away that potentially all the hard work and Devlopment from the Desire HD thread can be carried over to us.
The Inspire 4G will stay active for a good while in my opinion, I can atest to HTC quality since I still own the phone that started it all the HTC Dream / G1.
This phone has been dropped on concrete, slammed againt walls, thrown around like a bad habit and is still going strong and even have a fast/ stable version of Froyo 2.2.1 with apps2sd enabled and running with zero issues. This phone was only offically updated til 1.6 Donut from HTC and T-Mobile yet the incredible xda community has kept it going and left all who own it satisfied.
That to me is a prime example of what HTC quality, xda support and those out there with the potential to make a good phone great in the Months and Years ahead.
Check out the Samsung and Sony forums those guys are truly regretting their purchases from barely a few months ago while I'm still content from a phone from 2008.
Proof positive that this purchase will be a smart one from whomever takes a chance on it when its released to the public.

Advice if you don't mind

I'm debating on gettin rid of my jailbroken iPhone 4 for a inspire.
Should I hold off on the inspire for something better coming out?
I enjoy my iPhone Alot and my battery life lol but I can't make my mind up.
User there is some dev support already for the inspire which is a huge plus for me, but I'm getting tired of the small size of the iPhone and it's limits to customizing.
What do you guys think?
Also I came from a rooted Aria and Captivate before I went to the iPhone

Hi, make sure get a dual core cpu on next acquisition. Apple or no apple to be fair. Android is fun.

this is definitely a great phone. you may want to hold off until a better htc phone comes out with either of the two: dual-core 1ghz or better, front facing camera. If the inspire had both of those, this would be the most beastly phone on the market. if you're okay without both of those, then the inspire is for you. sense is awesome - lots of custom roms with and without - all are quick too! i got used to the size of the phone quickly after getting it and i LOVE LOVE LOVE this phone now. hope you make the right choice for yourself
Coming from the POC Captivate, this phone is awesome!
I do wish it had a front camera though, but not sure when I'd use it...it's plenty speedy though in stock form, much faster than the Captivate.
Dual core would be nice, but I had the Atrix and it didn't seem faster. I think it's all about coding and what you want it to do.
A co-worker of mine is an iPhone to Android user now.. he is happy overall, but does complain about the battery..
I am stock and easily get 2 days of normal usage. Not sure how long the iPhone lasts compared to the Inspire, but I think you'll be happy with this phone. I too came from the Captivate, and am much happier with HTC. Gps is flawless, screen size is perfect for my man hands, build quality is great (except for the darn battery cover )
I say go into a corp ATT store and play with the Inspire for 15 min.. awesome phone IMO.

And also would the data plan remain the same or is it different for "4g" devices?

If I'm not mistaking the sim card for a iPhone is a micro one so you will need to go get a new one and the plans I THINK are the same but you will just have to move to the smartphone plan not the iPhone plan

HTC has no plans for a upcoming phone for at&t. My inspire runs super fast and games and video streaming is beautiful. So a dual core is mainly for speed. Y need more speed if the HTC is super fast? And I would never use the front facing camera. I mean really. I got a Mac for that.
CaNt FiX sTuPiD
I'd say hold off and see the infuse4g. I'm leery about samsung after the craptivate fiasco but the infuse is getting great reviews from engadget (while they aren't perfect I do find them to be pretty good overall) and I dont know about you but the extra .2" of screen might actually make a big difference, I know the .3" of screen between captivate and inspire were super nice. I will tell you while the captivate had more metal parts the HTC feels better built (except that damn battery cover everyone keeps mentioning, really HTC, what were you thinking?!)
There's no wrong answer when you switch from iphone to android, it's like going from a mud pie to filet mignon, even if it's bad filet mignon it's better than what you had!
And may wanna see what to see if bootloader is locked
CaNt FiX sTuPiD
Kinda wanting to stay away from the infuse as well as samsung and the bs they put us through with the captivate, I'm headin to a store now to go play with the inspire

He told me I can use my old 3G sim are that I used with my old captivate, wait, what?

Well if you are ATT only I would either stay with the iphone 4 or get the inspire.
This dual core thing is not proven yet. I have not seen one phone that is dual core that is awesome. I am sure I and everyone else will want one in 6 months to a year but right now there is nothing impresive about them. Att only has one other dual core that I have read about coming and its an LG....No Thanks...
Just got done Playing with one at the store, the size would take getting used to.
Seemed sluggish here and there but it's a store phone..and the fact it didn't have any Internet connectivity sucked.
And the captivate next to it was running 2.2 what a pos haha.
Overall it seems really nice, well constructed, pretty smooth as far as animation went.
Now here's the hard part, I can easily find an Inspire on CL to trade my i4 for, but how much cash do I want?

The demo phone didn't have a SIM with a data connection? Ridiculous. They should've at least had it connected to wi-fi.
BTW, Best Buy has the Inspire for cheaper than AT&T. It is $79 there (w/ 2 year contract of course).

I get bored with phones very easily but once i got my Inspire i wanted to keep it for more than a month or 2 (which was the shelf life for a phone to me for a long time) So i rooted it to keep me busy/interested, and when i get bored i dive deeper into the root to make it better. But im at a point now where i dont know enough to go much further, and the onlyfriends i have that are into phones like i am are through here. So its hard to actually be taught anything. So i really want a new phone but not sure which direction i should go, or if i should hold out till the new batch of phones is out. In short, why cant i be satisfied with a phone nfor more than a few months?
Nope i wanna stick around until a while. The inspire is a great device

I've found the Inspire to be one of the best phones I've ever owned. I think I'd only put the G1 above it in terms of phones I loved owning. The Inspire has given me 0 problems, has tons of dev support and is still very fast/snappy to use.
Not tired of it at all. I do lust for the Galaxy Nexus or the Razr while laying in bed at night...but I feel bad about it in the morning.

Also, I do find myself getting bored with it easily. Definitely an amazing device, but damn that Galaxy Nexus is tempting. If only it had the 8MP camera!
I actually really like my Inspire still, It's still a very capable device. I am going to be due for an upgrade in the next few months and i am going to be holding on to this phone i think for a while. Till something really catches my eye, because i really want to get another HTC device. The galaxy nexus looks sweet but im not a fan of Samsung's use of so much plastic on their phones.
My inspire makes me pancakes for breakfast every morning. I'll probably keep it until I'm tired of pancakes or my pants don't fit anymore.

That's what's so great about Android and being rooted. Get bored, flash a new ROM. Voila, new phone
No way! I love my Inspire still, it's a great phone, everything is really smooth with it right now. I'll probably hang on to it for another 18 months till i have another upgrade.
I really like my Inspire. I can not find a reason to upgrade. Nothing else out does anything different. I need a new Experiance before I will upgrade again. (or my contract is up). I had a Windows phone and modded the hell out of it and then, I went Iphone and modded it to death, and then andriod. Modded to death. See my pattern, each was a new experience. I will need a reason to leave my phone before I will.
meh...
After having issues with the battery life, I'm ready to upgrade to something with a larger battery & better screen. I'm not really hating on the phone, just disappointed with it.
Next phone I buy will be at cost, since I picked it up for $100 with a new contract.
I'm not tired of it (took 2 months only) but maybe if a little disappointed, I was recently at a concert and record some songs but my disappointment came into play, pesimo sound seemed pfffff q was in a machine room, something my old iphone that never happened to me, but good either me every day I live concerts as he remains so until q together for my new iphone 4s.
I have to say I like it and can deal with the few minor probs like battery life until the edge is released or equal to it. Sense I buy all my phones at cost I am willing to wait and see the next Gen device and right now everything else is just too weak to justify upgrading yet
So far I'm lovin' it. While this IS my first smartphone, I'd have to say I'm impressed overall with the phone. One thing bugs me though. I don't take a lot of pictures, but when I do, I like to not have to set my whitebalance to fluorescent every time I want to take a low light picture with my flash... I kinda wish the coders had implemented where if the camera sees low light, and decides to use the flash, to just set the whitebalance to fluorescent. Ahh the little things.
Overall I like the build quality, for ME it's been a solid phone, and I love modding it. Endless entertainment!
i've had mine for a couple months and it's the best phone i've ever owned and im happy with it but honestly im bored. Too many sense rom's are the same and CM7 just dosen't interest me anymore and i've been using MIUI for the last couple weeks but i'm getting to the point where i can't really expand it that much more. I'm going to try to convince my dad (im only 14) to kick my brother off of our family plan and make him go to a gophone plan as he's 19 and dosen't use his phone much and then pay the ETF and switch to verizon, with christmas coming up i think he'll do it but i'll just have to wait
Tired of it? Heck no! This is my fifth Android device and I love it. To me nothing else out at the moment is compelling enough to switch. I love the actual build quality of the phone. Too many other phones just have too much plastic on them and they feel cheap. This phone is solid. Its plenty fast and well supported in the community. My contract is up in August of 2012 so if it doesn't get bricked before then, that is what I will be using. I look forward to see the offerings then.
I've had the inspire since launch day and it has lived up to the billing so far. There's really nothing you can't do with this phone. I live in Houston which has LTE but I'm working in Odessa right now so there's no need for me to jump into an LTE device just yet. They barely have hspa+ rolled out down here. I'll probably wait until next year for the new slate of devices, when att broadens their LTE footprints.
For now I'm enjoying my inspire

I love my inspire but like others am bored of the same old roms. Wanted the vivid but with the tegra 3 quad core already in the new transformer 2 tablet I think I might wait. And Samsung I believe has a phone called the flex that is supposed to come out q2 2012 with a flexible screen and body I think there are too many better phones in the near future to justify using my upgrade now and waiting two more years to get something better. Girl I work with just ordered the vivid so i will just look at it when she gets it and go from there

Is The Samsung Galaxy Epic Touch a worthy upgrade?

Do you guys think the Galaxy S2 is a worthy upgrade from the nexus s because I have the choice to get one right now and wanted to know you guys opinion?
Hardly seems worth it since you'll be switching to a phone running an older version of Android. The Nexus S is still a fairly competitive phone even with year old hardware.
the situation i'm in is either get a new phone now or wait 2 more years with the nexus s. Does that change things?
Well I have the epic touch 4g and it's amazing, now with that said I just got my gf a nexus and put ics on it it also is amazing. The epic is the only upgrade I see and it's worth it but your not gonna get ics for another month or more. Now with calks rom, desparado kernal, and ics theme I love it more than anything (except a galaxy nexus).
If you can get one for not too much money I would say yes as the nexus while it's great with ics and glades kernal it's still not perfect, it's almost there but ics is still early.
Either way each option is good so I say go for the epic touch or wait and pray and hope sprint gets the galaxy nexus because that is the only phone I can see myself leaving the epic for. And once the epic gets ics the epic in some ways is really better.
My wife's gs2 (epic 4g touch) blows my nexus s 4g away. There is no comparison. After owning it, there are no regrets. I have nexus owners that admit it is a very nice phone lol.
When u look at the camera, battery life, size, CPU, gpu...the list of **** it actually does, built in screen shot, can connect Bluetooth keyboard/mouse, HDMI via mhl adapter...
I have played w ics and plenty of ics roms for my ns4g, owned plenty of phones and the gs2 on sprint is arguably one of the best phones I have ever touched, no pun intended.
My ns4g just feels slow in comparison.
Go try a dual core device at Sprint to get a better idea of the differences. I found the most obvious differences in scrolling rich web pages, doing other stuff while updating apps, using the device during TB backups, etc.
Don't forget, you also get a huge increase in ram, screen size, and even notable boost in battery life (YMMV) . ICS won't be available for a while, so keep that in mind as well.
I have two Epics and two Epic Touches.. one of the latter is new if you want to trade for your NS +, cash
isn't the epic touch wimax? Not late? I'd wait for an lte device.

Yes but sprints network rollout is worthless. I have heard about rev b since October yet no one has posted it actually being functional. Maybe by 2013 or 14.sprint spent so much on iPhones seems like they can't put new towers up, all the while Verizon is bringing 4g to way more places w the aggressive rollout.

Dude without a doubt get the Evo!!!

either way you go let me know what you think of either one. Im in the same situation over here lol. Im using the original EVO right now so I'm leaning toward the Evo 4g LTE, but the that new galaxy sIII and Galaxy Nexus are both looking really sweet to me. But good luck with your decision.
If I'm correct Sprint has that whole 30 days to see if you like the phone or not before giving you a full refund. If thats still the case I'll probably try them both lol
To be honest with you I absolutely love HTC's Sense UI. I also prefer the build quality and materials in HTC devices to Samsung's (Not to say that Samsung has inferior build quality.)
I know that the EVO has the Snapdragon processor and the GS3 has an Exynos (?) but from what I understand, when the GS3 ships for Sprint etc it will have the same snapdragon processor for LTE.
Honestly I think you should maybe wait and play around with botch devices, if it's an option.
Sprint's return policy is only 14 days. I think it was changed last year.
i just signed with sprint a week ago you have 14 days to cancel contract, 30 days to swap phones i have the evo 4g lte and this phone is nice. I was using this until the gs3 arrived then just swiping this phone with that. That was my plan but i like this phone alot. My gf just joined sprint and she got the gs2 until the gs3 comes out then she swapping phones too. Me personally i think this evo is better the screen is vibrant great viewing angles and look way better than the gs2 screen. The evo camera is amazing with all the features it have i would miss them if i got the gs3. For me battery last all day no lie that's wifi sometimes gaming, youtubes, texting, calls. Im full charge at 7am and when i put it on the charger at night before bed around 11 or 12 im roughly 30% atleast for a week its been accurate. The only thing that i see is the ram difference i don't know if it well make a big enough difference to change my mind ,but my girl friend will Get the gs3 and ill play with hers for a few days and make my decision. Another thing touchwiz is ugly compared to sense 4, i would put stock Android on that gs3 fast.

from what i read online the Evo is suppessed with 1gb of ram(usable) while the G3 has 2.
The G3 also has a bigger screen (not that you would really notice) with a variance of about .1
As far as the G3 feeling cheaper in your hands...
I know the evo is about 3 grams lighter than the G3 and are both made of quality material. which is weird compared to the OG and the facsinate there was a noticable difference in weight and feeling, with the OG feeling more sturdy and heavier. The Sammy was feeling like i could easily break it.
I have been in love with my OG since day 1 and have loved the SenseUI, But now i feel the need for change.
I'm going to be getting G3 due to the hardware. As far as looks go, I dont care to much for touchwiz but on the other hand, roms are being ported left and right around here, It shouldnt be to hard to get your hands on what you are looking for.
The end result is going to be up to please let us know what you end up going with. i will also report back here and let people know if i made the right choice.
htc evo 4g lte all the way!!!
Design and build quality over specs
The gs3 is no way near a "cheap" build or feel, actually it's quite awesome. U need to get it in your hands and play with it for little while(1 hour or 2) and the blue one is beautiful.
Camera is a lot better than gs2(emphasize lot) and the soundchip is wolfson(voodoosound) it can't get any better.
But yeah touchwiz is ugle as h...(pardon my french).but better rom support(custom roms) than gs3,doesn't exist, already at least 5 custom roms and 4 kernels is out and a whole lot more is rolling out.
The pentile screen isn't that bad(i feared the worst) and from what i understand an improvement is in dev.(also supercurio)
I went for gs3.
But Don't deside before u have tried them both
hi
SGS3 all the way..dont waste ur money on a htc
i got a sgs3 and it`s amazing
Get the evo so you will forever hate your pals who knew better.

Question. I watched a YouTube video on the S3 last night and saw all the cool gestures you can do. Double tap the top of the phone to scroll up, put phone to face to call via messages, put palm over the phone to mute music and many more. What can the Evo Lte do in terms of these type of features. I know what sense look like but i need more.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
You need to look at the specs and build quality of both. The S3 is made of plastic but according to all of the reviews it feels solid. The S3 also allows you to add more storage and to swap out the battery. If none of this matters to you then go for the HTC.
Doc
I will go with EVO. HTC is better phone..At home..MY TV, dvd , blu ray and surround are Samsung...but phones HTC is the way to go.
I had the Evo 4G for a year, and then purchased the Samsung Epic 4G Touch because the Evo 3D didn't do a thing for me, and I actually thought the 3D was no where near an upgrade to the Evo 4G, which was Great!
I really like the SET4G, and look forward to seeing the Samsung Galaxy S3 in the store.
I went into a Sprint Store earlier, and to my surprise, the sales guy couldn't push the Evo 4G LTE hard enough on me.
I explained that I was waiting to see the S3 in store when it arrived, and would probably purchase it, if LTE was coming online sooner, rather than later.
The Sales guy was like, but the Evo 4G LTE is so much better.
I asked why is that? You don't even have the S3 yet?
He said that the display is really much better than the S3, and that it's no comparison.
What?!
Even if the Evo 4G LTE display is slightly better, it's not as big a deal as this guy made it sound.
Obviously the guy was trying to make a sale, but jeeze, putting down the S3 the way he was, was so unbelievable, that you couldn't believe anything this guy was saying about either device.
I explained the removeable battery, in addition to that the pentile screen was pretty good. He said that it's the same display as the SET4G, and it's not that good.
I explained that the SET4G was Super Amoled Plus, and the S3 was Super Amoled. but the Pixel density was much higher, and the reviews were pretty good for the display.
I said there are articles that are blown out of proportion regarding the tremendous difference in the displays of the S3 and the Evo 4G LTE, and that it sounds like some people have been reading them lol!
Anyway, I'm most likely going to go with the S3 because:
1) it has a 2100mAh Removeable battery
2) it has 2GB of RAM
3) it has a 32GB internal memory option
4) I like the color Blue
5) I believing that HTC locks down their phones much more than Samsung, regarding S-Off, Rooting, etc.
The sales guy said he also had the Samsung Epic 4G Touch but really likes the Evo 4G LTE so much better.
Well, the SE4GT is already a year old. Let's compared Oranges to Oranges when the S3 arrives.
I asked him if he knew about the show in Boston tonight, when the S3 is revealed for 2 hours?
He said no.
Really?
He said that they are usually the last to know about those things.
That I can believe with my experience with this guy.
He walked away, and I compared my display with the Evo 4G LTE display regarding brightness, and the colors of the app draw icons, knowing that the Evo 4G LTE has an HD display.
I made sure the brightness was at 100% on both.
The colors really popped on the SET4G, compared to the colors on the Evo 4G LTE, which appeared washed out.
I called the Rep over to take a look.
I said to him look at how these colors Pop on the Samsung.
He immediately said that the Brightness needs to be 100% on the Evo, and went into Settings. I told him I already set it.
He said that the Brightness is not that important. He continued and said look at this Video. He put on the Rihanna video.
I said that I understand that the Evo 4G LTE has an HD screen, and besides, my SE4GT is a year old.
I continued and said I need to see the S3 display in person. But that I didn't think that it was going to be a deal breaker, one way or the other. He said we'll see when it comes out.
Anyway, the Sprint Store Rep sounded like he was reading from the Atnt Evo One script, explaining to customers what the Evo advantages are item by item, when asked, as compared to the S3.
If you hadn't seen that Memo, it's pretty funny.
I'm not an HTC or a Samsung diehard.
I'm for whatever device seems to be the better one, as determined by Hands-on,
Reviews, Feedback and more Reviews, as long as they're not written by the Sprint Sales Rep I had today lol!
What I mean is that when the Evo 4G came out, I waited a few months to see how it panned put. I determined that this was a Fantastic Device, and purchased it. The Evo 4G lived up to its Reputation.
Then the HTC EVO 3D came out, and I thought that it was a mediocre device at best, no matter what the HTC diehards were saying. I believe I made a wise choice not purchasing that device.
Then the Samsung Epic 4G Touch was available, I went into the store, read the reviews, and I was blown away by it.
Then the HTC Evo 4G LTE was made available, and right away, the non removable battery was a deal breaker for me. I didn't see what the benefits to this were.
Oh yeah, the Atnt memo says that the S3 is susceptible to getting Dust inside, and it's susceptible to water damage.
Yeah, my removeable battery devices are caked with Dust, and the Batteries are in need of a Life Preserver lol!
I read about the S3 and thought that this was going to be my next device.
I'll wait till it arrives, go into the store and have some experience with it, and read the reviews.
But as I mentioned, I doubt I'll give up my SE4GT, which now gets 4G service.
If I purchased an LTE device, I'll be relegated to only 3G Signal, which is Damn Slow, until I can take advantage of LTE, when Sprint decides to get those Towers up and running for the Masses.
We all know what happened to Wimax :-(
Btw, the Rep said that the LTE towers are being Tested in NYC and thinks they'll be up by the end of the month.
I said end of the month?
I read that they're talking about 2013.
He said he meant by the end of the Summer.
Uh, ok.
Anyway, I don't think you can go wrong with either device, but my preference is for the S3 for some of the reasons stated.
I do have to wait till I see it though.
Sorry for being long in the tooth, But that's how I roll
As a Sprint employee..
I'm a huge fan of HTC. Had the original EVO and the 3D. And I get to play with the EVO 4G LTE everyday at work. I am really interested in the SIII tho because I love the SII. And the fact that it will have voice command similar to SIRI, it makes it even more appealing. They basically have the same specs and the main differences will be the Beats Audio in the EVO and then the voice command in the SIII. The screen will be a tiny bit bigger in the SIII so that's a plus to be because I adore big, bright screens. So, when we get the new SIII in, I will definitely play with it before I choose I'd suggest doing the same. As of now, I'm personally thinking SIII
