Agreed. But it looks HORRIBLE when combined with the rest of the poop and pumpkin theme. These dudes need to just stick to one color pallet, it's ridiculous.

I installed the OTA this morning and now phone says my sd card is damaged and i may need to reformat it. Help please. Thanks

Ugh... Had that happen on my Eris and eventually (after like 15 more reformats) the entire SD corrupted and needed to be replaced. I don't have a good suggestion for you, but I think you'll probably need to format it. Good luck.

It is a 16 gig card and it is half full, what do i do with all the files on it???

You can try to unmount and remount

That's a good bet. You can also try to read them on your PC if you have a SD to USB option.
If nothing works, you may be SOL I'm sorry to say. If it make you feel any better, I don't back up my SD card either and would be just as screwed...
Try mounting and unmounting or try the PC. Otherwise, maybe hang tight to see if a more experienced bro has some better advice.

Nice. If you've got it on your computer, drag that stuff to a folder on your PC. Then just let the phone reformat it. After the reformat, transfer your files back.
When you hook the phone to the computer, make sure you mount the SD with Android. Then, when you're done, make sure you EJECT the SD card before using Android to unmounting from the computer. That will help assure that you don't have corruption issues moving forward.

thanks for the info, gonna try putting files on comp then letting phone reformat card then put files back on card and see what happens. will post back later

Anyone know how long the update takes to install? My phone has been sitting on the black screen with little Droid dude and the triangle containing exclamation point for a solid 20 minutes now.

That's what I was worried about. Don't have time for that until this weekend, going to have to put up with the irritating update popup until then... Unless someone knows how to disable it? I looked for some kind of update app tp freeze, no such luck.

Hmm, Tapatalk didn't give me the option to edit for some reason. Honestly, I'd have no problem sticking with froyo if i could disable the updater. My phone works about perfectly at this point.

Just did mine. Took 17 mins update before auto reboot.
I rebooted prior to accepting update and let things stabilize before pulling the trigger.
Seems all is well. Not rooted.

Easy root for Thunderbolt on Windows

Yestarday I wrote a Mac OS X Easy root with a video
However I had someone e-mail me asking for a Windows Version.
I will write one if I get 5 likes on this video by the end of day and as soon as I get at least 5 likes I will start writing it and have it done within a couple hours! I just want to make sure people are really interested in it before I start.

Got at least ten more days before I root my TB. Don't want to do it until I'm outside my exchange period, in case any mechanical glitches show up, like a stuck power button or some such.
Edit - Yeesh, didn't realize the download was nearly 900MB.

I agree with you we shouldn't even have to root the phone in the first place that's why I did this stuff.
I also agree with you. I didn't realize I seem like I was asking for money. So I took that down.

I think I will wait to root until 2.3 comes out. I'd really like to just have vanilla android gingerbread without sense.. then, I will be a happy camper. Is there anyway to debrand the Verizon Logo?

[Q] Unrooting Before Shipping Back to VZW

Unfortunately, I've encountered a hardware defect on my phone...
...the dreaded power button is getting stuck and becoming virtually unusable. The VZW Tech Support is sending me a CLNR device which should be here on Friday. (Apparently, they got rid of free overnight shipping.)
I'm unrooting tonight so I can play around with the new OTA over the next couple of days.
Is there anything I need to do to the phone other than un-root it so that VZW doesn't know it was rooted, thereby avoiding any future headaches and $299 charges.
Thanks!
Drew

Just make sure to follow the unroot process in the dev forums so you put your phone back to "stock". You want to make sure its back to "S-ON" but that's about it.

Actually just got the new phone today and rooted it this evening. Everything works perfectly fine and the power button actually presses down now. lol
The only annoyance is that the speaker seems to crackle if above more than 1/2 volume. Thankfully, I can hear just fine if below that. But if it becomes too bad, I'll have to do another swap.

Curious as to why you would bother unrooting software when hardware is the issue? Here's why I ask.
I buy all of my companies pcs and cell phones. If I wipe MSCRAP7 off the machine and it has a MB failure and I call the mfg and they send a new one i don't restore back to 7 why would you on the phone?

SD card problems

Some apps that I've pushed to my external SD card suddenly show up as not installed and I then have to reinstall from the market. Any ideas what's wrong?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Right now the phone is having problems when you store any apps on the SD card. Make sure they are all stored internally and that should solve your problems.
you have 4gb of app storage, there's no need for apps2sd especially since it breaks the apps, sd card and everything else.
But for me such as with evernote the data is stored on the SD card and the app fails when the SD card unmount itself and I have to resync it.

Yes, theres a bug in the software causing this to happen when apps are installed on the sdcard. Just make sure all ur apps are in internal storage and you should be fine, or is 4gb not enough?

never use the atrix 2 to format your card, do it with a card reader in windows
I'm on my 2nd Atrix 2. The first one had trouble with the sdcard as most of the people are writing about on XDA so I got a replacement. The 2nd one works perfectly with the same sdcard installed. In addition to fixing the sdcard issues, wireless works more reliably and call quality is better indicating they may have had some hardware quality control issues vs. software issues. If you're within your 30 days return period I would suggest getting a replacement.

I've been monitoring this and moved many of my non essential apps to my SD card for testing purposes. Then I set my phone so any updates to apps has to be approved, none of my apps nor is the phone auto update.
Worked fine for two weeks until I finally updated three apps. Then I lost 7 apps on the SD card

I'm trying to be patient for that update. But, it's a tough bone to swallow spending $65 for an SD card just to store MP3s on. It would be nice to have some sort of rough ETA from Moto on the update (i.e., before my 30 days is up). I'd try a Samsung Infuse, but that would be taking a step backward in video and processor.

Try a warranty exchange. I promise the issues you have seen tylercarter, is not exactly what everyone else has, especially with google contacts disapperaing. If you bought it at ATT they are decent if you go into a store. If you bought it at best buy forget it, even 1 day past 30 day they will tell you too bad so sad. ATT took care of me three times even at 40 days, they let me switch to a different phone each time. That was back in march so.... give it a try.
I hate to say it, but fixes for this issues with the SDcard most likely will never come. Now if we can get the source code for this phone, then WE can fix the issue much like cyanogen did those type of things for many phones. I will definitely do the fix for it once we get that.

Yes I'm putting it in the right way cause the wrong way won't even go in half way. From the sounds of it it's not a common issue and must just be my device.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Premium HD app
It is possible the catch that is supposed to kick in and hold the sd card in may be broken, I have seen and experienced this before on other devices. That would be a warranty job.
Before taking back though I'd either try a new sd card, if you have 1, or test the current one out in another device - must be spring loaded like the note 10.1.... That rules out Samsung telling you there's nothing wrong and potentially charging you for the service. Also removes the sd card from the culprit list...

Do an RUU back to stock (don't do the OTA), if that doesn't work it is a hardware issue. All those problems at once? Sounds like it got wet, not saying it did, but you don't usually see that many problems pop at once without something major happening. Good luck.

I have had the same issue happen to me, for some reason the Shift is a great water magnate they apparently found some " Moisture" Build up in mine, when they came to open it up during a repair, I would keep $100.00 USD On the side just in-case you have to file an insurance claim with asurion.
Ive tried to, Unroot and back to stock, ive tried rerooting .Re-Romming and Flashing the device,
a Majority of the time issues like that are caused by the wiring in the device "Moisture" Build up and or just cause the shift wants to be a little bonkers .
But then again if your not around it, you may just luck out and get a hardware defect claim and keep 100 bucks in your pocket and two days later you get a Refurbished device ^____^ yay for you.
I said it sounded like moisture lol:sly: Anyways, good luck... Shifts are dropping like flies round here.

I've seen prboy post about this a ton of times but what he always suggests is to see if you hear sort of a crunching sound when you close/open the keyboard. If you do, its probably the flex cable and you can buy one and replace it yourself (if you want)
I believe you can also take it in to Sprint if its in fairly good condition and they will give you a new one no questions asked
You might wanna also take a look at the questions/posts HERE or HERE
EDIT: Just FYI, but the flex cable is what connects the keyboard to the touch screen

Yeah I have seen those posts too. Wasn't sure cause it isn't making any noise. Got this refurb after the last ota killed my phone. So its in great condition. Guess I'm unrooting and heading to sprint

There is a very good possibility that it could be the Flex Cable. But if you plan on taking it back to Sprint, RUU first. That way you kill two birds with one stone. You confirm the issue, and you prep it for going back to Sprint.
