Hi, I have KPH Cranium 3.0 Rom, and I want to try KPQ. Can I update via OTA?
I have CWM Recovery, when updating its removed?
Thanks
Don't update via OTA.
It won't update.
Fails @Kernel Testing. You'd have to reflash then...
Just flash XXKPQ via ODIN
Ok, thanks. What are the improvements in 2.3.6? I read that most of them are for Nexus S.
It deserve to be updated?

There's a whole thread on it with hundreds of posts.
Go through them to check everyone's reviews and stuff.
Its @Dev Sub-Forum.
I cant find it, the when I search "KPQ" nothing found (I think that the search tool is not working proprietly), and the "[ROM] STOCK ROMS for GALAXY SL I9003 {NOW GINGERBREAD 2.3.6}" thread has a feedback thread, but they doesnt talk about KPQ there...

Just to be clear; you are on KB5; the most recent stock ROM (with some nice fixes) is KD1.
Flash Whitehawx's stock deodexed KD1 here.
The included features/fixes can be found here and are cut 'n' pasted below:
Beginning May 2nd, Samsung Galaxy S 4G users will begin receiving an Over the Air (“OTA”) software update. The update will be staggered, and users will receive the update randomly over the next few weeks. If you would like to manually install the upgrade, you can do so using the Samsung Kies Mini software on a PC or Mac. Kies Mini can be downloaded from http://www.TinyURL.com/KiesMini (http://www.TinyURL.com/KiesMini) (not case sensitive).
The OTA updates the software version to version T959VUVKD1. The previous version was T959VUVKB5. This is NOT an operating system upgrade to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
This maintenance release includes various bug fixes and enhancements based on customer feedback.
Call functions
•Incoming caller number displayed instead of name (for customers who subscribe to Caller Name ID service)
Memory
•Phone freezes, soft reboots, lags, or has black screen
Messaging (SMS, MMS, e-mail)
•Error: ‘Message not sent’ or 'Error in server response' when sending a Picture Message
•Contact’s name does not appear in text message ‘To’ field

You mean you got the KD1 ROM in the first link.
The second was informative only to list the fixes going from KB5 to KD1 stock ROM.
Follow pixelbrain's excellent guide to the letter to use Odin to flash that ROM to your phone, using Whitehawx's KD1 ROM in step 1. DO NOT use a PIT! You'll brick your phone. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this procedure. Try it, don't be afraid, search the forums when you have questions and you'll learn in no time. I'm still a noob too BTW. I've soft bricked my SGS about a dozen times but always brought it back to life with Odin! There is a ton of great information on these forums, and the great likelihood is that your questions have already been answered. Search and you'll find it.
Good luck!
And just for clarification.

Details:
ROM: i9003XXKPH (Gingerbread 2.3.4)
CSC: SER
PIT: latona_20110114
Date: 2011 August 9
Thanks to Aaditya for the resumable dl link, mjbri0613 & Sine for the mirrors.
This is the flash procedure I followed and everything is fit & fine (you might flash another way and it could work as many have tried, this is just how I did it):
Flash procedure:
- Flashed clean XXKPE. Factory reset and flashed KPH as PDA.
- Flashed the Battery_Fix KPE CWM and rooted using SOC 1.9.1. That version seems to work flawlessly everytime. (Its advisable to flash a XXKPH CWM and root without all the PDA hopping.)
- Flashed the normalboot.img from KPH.
- Deodexed using xUltimate 2.8
- Restored user apps with TB.
- Flashed amit's XXKPE CWM (No longer available. Use Skin's "CWM only" for XXKPH from his thread.)
Please leave feedback on the specifics after you're updated. If you have questions on how to update etc, go to the respective threads.
I request everyone not to crowd this thread with posts not directly related to this ROM or its feedback.
Enjoy!

LOL. I saw it was there but neither had samfirmware picked it up nor had anyone of us started a thread. So, I thought "why not?" and notified samfirmware and started a feedback thread.
You know I never do threads otherwise.
This should be one of the final releases (there will be more region-wise). It came up on KIES, so has to be a final release.
And congrats on the new job mate!

No, what I meant was - as it was released on KIES, it has to the final official update. You can flash however you like. Anyway, ODIN is the only option. You cannot flash/update through KIES if its not specifically showing you the update when you have your device connected.
I think if we want to update it via kies we need to flashback to froyo.. So ODIN is the very best way!!
I cant donload the firmware yet^^

im an evo user rooted and everything. i just got my wife and upgrade to a samsung epic, so what i was wondering was which is the best way to root and most importantly how do i know shes on/has EB13?...i dont even know what that is....i see links that refer to that but dont know whether to follow those instrusctions or look for others that just match what i have.heres her info if it helps...thank you guys!
Hware-d700.0.5
Build- FROYO.EC05
KERNAL-2.6.32.9
FIRM-2.2.1
again thanks and if this is dumb sorry
Here's a link for how the recovery which you will need once you root the phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076967&highlight=root . At the beginning of the paragraph, there's a link for "One Click Root".. just follow the instructions, it's pretty simple.
As for EB13, no she does not have it.. her phone is running on EC05 as shown in "Build- FROYO.EC05" which is just a version of Froyo (android 2.2) as is EB13..
Were you going to install a ROM on the phone once it's rooted or..? and if so, do you need to know how to flash the ROMs?
**and for future reference, you might want to try to search the forum.. there are wikis that would have told you what EB13 and EC05 are, and the link for rooting the phone was actually the first result when you search "root" haha.
Just figured I would warn you because some people on here get pretty pissed off when someone posts a new thread about something that they just yelled at 10,000 other people for

what is EH17?
and this link roots and installs a recovery?
again thanks sorry for dumb questions
ok, for starters, ec05 is the sprint distributed rom version, as would be eb13, or eh17 or any other 2letter2number codes on the epic forums. i'd stay on ec05, it seems to be the most stable rom/modem combination. you can flash most any rom (including the eh17 leak) from the ec05 rom, and you'll suffer less reboots or problems (unless otherwise stated by the rom developer) as long as you wipe properly. as you seem to be familiar with rooting, remember to make nandroids at any important step. as far as roms, i like the simply aosp and the cm7, but they have no touchwiz or sprint bloatware. if you like that, try srf.
finally, please be respectful of the forum rules and post in the proper place. this should be in q&a
edit: the 'E' stands for the year, 2011, and the 'C' stands for the month, march. this rom was released in march of this year. EC05 was the last official release, and was froyo. anything after EC (ED, EG, EH) are all gingerbread leaks that are less reliable.

EH17 is the lastest Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" leak for the Epic, besides the Froyo ROMs its the most stable.
Yes this will auto root and install recovery. To boot into recovery hold down Power, Camera, volume down.
After you flash the first link I posted, boot up shut down and go back into recovery and flash the second link. after that you should be good to go.
ANd it's cool man but like they said, post in Q and A, no one minds helping though.
**Personally I prefer the Gingerbread leaks over Froyo due to the speed.**

no, the newest stable official build is ec05, the newest leak is eh17. i wouldn't use anything but either of those. eb13 was released in february and was a froyo build replaced by ec05.

Sorry, I felt this deserved a separate thread, as it is not quite the same topic, and once someone does upload the stock flashable rom, it would make it easier for others to find.
