[Q] Kyros MID1024 run debian ? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi!
What would it take to run debian on this device?
I bought this tablet that has the motherboard 1025_v4 and I'm sad because there is no 2.3 rom for this card because of the dual-touch display.
I am an intermediate Linux User and I love working with debian, so I would try to run it on my tablet.
But the question is how to boot this device system.
I thought I'd compile a kernel for AMR cortex and copy a installed system to sd-internal already partitioned but have not idea how to make the system bootable, which bootloader to use and where it should be flashed NAND/SD-INTERNAL.
I know it will be a big job but I'm willing to try. Unless it is easier to develop a 2.3 ROM for this device.
Any help will be grateful!
Sorry my bad english!

Linux on Magician

Hello people,
I am trying to understand which linux edition can work on the magician.
as seen on http://linuxtogo.org/ , there are 3 versions:
Xanadux - http://linuxtogo.org/~ph5/magician/
GPE2 - http://gpephone.linuxtogo.org/
angstrom - http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/
also, as i understand , the xanadux version is NOT fully finished.
has anyone tried them yet?
Roy
Yes, I tried http://linuxtogo.org/~ph5/magician/ and it was nice!!
But some work still to do, like the bootloader part (for autoboot), suspend/resume and GSM.
GSM may have been fixed if it has been updated since (based on Linux PXA Mailing list)
You still need haret to boot on it, but a custom bootloader is possible, as it was done on ipaqs.
Works still to have be done before a full "usable" distribution, but it's on the way! I hope to help some weeks later (when my toolchain will be fully ready)...
PS: I had problems copying the filesystem to SDCARD because of USB2. Using USB1 it was working slow enough to copy all files to SDCard... Maybe it was a computer-only problem, but if you have same problem, try copying SLOWLY
I was looking ages for linux on my magician , but are there any tutorials for using those above linux roms ? I dont want to brick my magician , i dont have any other backup phone to use currently
It will just hard-reset your device after use.
You will load the Linux OS from the SDCard. Your device won't be damaged. It's safe!
What do I download ?
Hi,
I m on this forum after a long time. Sounds pretty good. Even I was hunting for linux for my Magician from ages. I checked out linuxtogo.org but didnt find which version to download and also the procedure. And also about booting from the SD card. Please halp me out...
question! can I install linux on my magician under windows XP? or I need a linux distro?
and second of all, how do I make to paritations on the sd card, I have read it, but I guess it was explained using a linux distro!

Click to collapse
http://www.linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/htcmagician/
It can now be done without a linux pc
i've tried it today. It a bit slow (on my pda) but it 's ok.
Give it try but do not forget to backup your data!

[Q] Running a Linux Distro from boot?

Besides the Nexus i got this "Brick" called Motorola Milestone.
I was wondering if anybody has experience or a good tutorial on howto run Linux from boot or custom recovery, meaning "native" instead of a sdcard loop on top of Android OS. - Yes Android is Linux as well.. but I'd like to (ab)use my Milestone for a Debian Distro.
Thanks for any hint.

[Q] is is possible to install...?

Is it possible to install an android operating system on my toshiba sattelite laptop. Its got a fast enough processor and big enough hard drive, but I jut want to install it as a second operating system, like when you can choose what op system you want to run when you boot up.
Check out the Android x86 project. Android is built for ARM architecture not i386.
Android is linux based, you could just run that.
Sent from my GSBv1.5-ERIS using XDA App
now that youve answered that, im curious to see if its possible to install android OP on a first generation PS3.... It was possible to run linux on them before.... and im just curious to see if its possible to put the android op thats linux based on it....
can anyone help to find the correct download for the linux based android op system?

[Q] [A700][Port?]Native Ubuntu Port on A700?

Hey guys!
I bought the A700 a few months ago and now I stumbled upon this link in our forum. It's a port of Ubuntu on the A500 running natively with Wifi. Touchscreen runs out of the box, ARM Support is now supported natively by kernel 3.7.
The following things I need to mention:
-rootfs must be on the external sdcard as a ext2/3/4 partition
-sdcard can still be used when partitioned as FAT32/ext
-if internal wifi does not work out of the box, you can connect any wireless usb dongle via usb-host
My question to the devs here would be:
Is it too hard to port this to our A700 as it nearly is the same as the A500?
I hope this wasn't posted beforehand and was answered, but I'd like to support such kind of project so I can use Linux on my device natively.
As nobody answers the question...
After rooting, it'd be possible to use Ubuntu/Debian/Arch Linux via chroot. But I couldn't find links whether media applications , especially sound, is working. The possibility to use Linux fully on my tablet pleases me, but I rather have it boot natively, but for this we need some things I found in the Asus Transformer TF700 Forums(which is one of the first tablets to get dual boot Android/Linux):
-unlocked bootloader (that's quite a major fact in porting linux to our devices. I'm no dev, I can program a little in java but that's it.)
-devs willing to build armhf Linux from source or use Ubuntu armhf /Debian armhf versions(I'd prefer Ubuntu or Debian as both are quite the same but Unity would be better to use on touchscreens)
-compile the tegra drivers in this package (wouldn't be too hard if one package already existed, people could install it after installation for HWA)
-rootfs on sdcards (since Android is still on NAND and it'd be cool to dualboot, but still, the lack of an unlocked bootloader is hardening the entire process
I don't know if it'll work, but if we write an petition to ACER to unlock their bootloader, maybe they could send as a tool like ASUS did?
Or does such a tool already exist? I only know of rooting tools but none to unlock bootloaders (which could explain why you can easily brick your Iconia A700 , i think)
If somebody is willing to help/provide ideas to this project, I could do some work and ask devs who work also on the Linux Kernel to help us out. But we also need a volunteer to lend them their device. But first, and that's priority nr.1: we need to unlock bootloader as fast as possible.
Ninja Edit: Found out that the bootloader is already unlocked, so we just need an .img that boots from sdcard so the Iconia sees it.
So, I played around with chroot+boot scripts to boot linux "virtually" on the A700.
Wouldn't it be possible to leave the ubuntu.img on the sdcard, but get the bootscript on the NAND/internal memory, so it could execute while booting?
I don't know how to accomplish this, but there'd be a way to execute it to run natively. Ubuntu via chroot with keyboard/mouse via USB OTG and HUB works without sound working yet, but it's just a matter of time.
I really hope that more people start helping/providing info on this matter , just to provide more ideas to this project.

[Q] Toshiba Excite Go AT7-C8 - how to install Linux?

Hi,
I hope this is the right place for my question.
I just bought the Toshiba Excite Go (AT7-C8) which has an Intel x86 processor and runs Android 4.4.2 (KitKat).
(Unfortunately I am not allowed to provide the link to the product page as a link, here a few specs:
Processor*IntelĀ® AtomĀ® Processor Z3735G (2MB Cache, Up to 1.83GHz)
Memory1GB (on board)
Storage*8GB eMMC
)
Since it has an x86 processor I was hoping I can install somehow a Linux system on this tablet. I would like to run some home automation applications (EIBD, Linknx and openHab) which I currently run on a Geode LX 800 system. I think this here is much more powerfull with nearly the same power consumption.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to do a Linux installation on such a Android based system. Did anyone already try this and may have a small tuturial?
Thanks a lot,
Ron
Nobody has an idea or hint?
Was someone able to get root access to this tablet?
I can't even move any app to the SD card.
I start to hate this tablet, as many applications are not available for it and I can't get a Linux system set up either ...
I would appriciate any suggestion.
Root
Hello
I found a universal method for tablets on Intel, but no one tested
