[Q] Return to stock Odin question - Samsung Infuse 4G

When using odin to return to stock, what are the three things you insert in the slots?
the pit, pda tar, and the phone tar
is this like the rom, and like the modem, and kernel?
or is the rom and kernel together and the other the modem?
just curious.

Depends on which package you're using.

in this case, what would these be, copied and pasted below.
6) Click the PIT button and choose infuse.pit (and make sure Re-Partition is checked)
7) Click the PDA button and choose PDA_UCKD5.tar.md5
8) Click the PHONE button and choose PHONE_UCKD5.tar.md5

Thats the ultimate unbrick..will take you back to complete stock

hey dman, I understand that but I am just asking what are those individual files I am plugging in to the slots in odin. I basically want to just get an understanding of what Im doing.
Like is the phone tar the modem file, and the pda tar like the rom?
and what is the pit? something that repartitions?
and a thanks to you also for the work you do, its much appreciated.

The one with all the files for the system and kernel ect are in the pda file if thats what your asking....

It's brick central and I'm the mayor.... any help please?

Seriously stupid mistake.. was in Rom manager and loaded alt recovery.. drinking a bit and thinking I was using my Evo 4g.. so Amon Ra loaded and all I get now is default samsung splash screen!!! what an idiot. also when I plug in a usb at boot I just get this loading circle that freezes immediately. ..... Did I kill it?
I'd go into download mode and reflash it.

thanks for the reply guys..
got odin 1.7 and 1.3.. and it downloads.. I get the blue bar loading on the phone about 99 percent .. and gets just about 100 percent then.. odin says "FAIL" in red.. .. I'm gonna keep trying stuff but if you have any experience with this error let me know..
Thanks!! .. I'm feeling like there's hope now!
Is this gonna be one of those cases where there is no hope until a .pit file becomes available?
How did you fix???
I am having the same issue.
I run Odin 1.85 and I get to 99% and it dies right after it says Data.

Try it with the kg4 leak in the dev section

If you don't want GB, look for RaverX3X's KC1.
Download the KF2 or any rom.
Put phone in download mode.
Open odin. Any version over 1.0.
in PDA section, input the KF2.tar file or rom you downloaded
In Pit section, input the .0512 pit file. Click start and youre good to go.

[Q] possible brick.......duno for sure

Hi guys, irecently attempted to flash a rom to make my phone more awesome but I feel I fudged up. My mounts were not set right I think but my phone still booted up like it should.....but on first boot my screen looked like a bill cosby sweater but that went away. Now. When I try to go nto recovery or dl mode,my screen is black n goes to normal boot. Did I damage my recovery? N if so can I get it back?
Tried to turn it on again n I just get bootloops, still no recovery or dl mode.
Also in rom manager it said cwm and recovery were present, but when I tried to go into recovery I got the same.
Any and I mean any help would b appreciated....thank you
You flashed gb. For that you need the bootloaders for gb. Until you get those you will always have the rainbow scree on boot and no recovery. Find and flash the kg4 leak that will straiten things out.

Yes you need Odin. Just check out the Bible and grab the Samsung USB drivers for you computer then install Odin. Then learn to boot into download mode. And you will be ready for flashing. There is a tutorial also in the Bible on flashing with odin. Here is the Bible link, learn it well if you intend on keeping the phone. Happy modding

Again......many, many thanks to you
Step 1. look at the bible. Look for the kg4 rom, pit file and odin are included in the download.
Step 2. to get into download mode, pull out the battery, plug in your phone, hold BOTH the volume up and down buttons, then plug in the battery. Congrats. Youre now in download mode.
Step 3. unzip all the files from the .rar file you just downloaded.
step 4. start odin and input all the files in the corresponding order. It tells you where each file goes.
step 5. Click start and wait.
step 6. your phone now works.

yes u use all 4 p theres only one file u can use for pit in the zip so its self explanatory
for phone look for file that has phone in it
for csc look for file with csc in it
and for pda use last file it should be like REV00
oh and if you're having trouble getting into download/recovery did u try using adb to get to them?

[Q] Do i Re-Partition Doing Odin?

hey guys am i suppose to re-part when using odin? i forgot and accidentally did it? i dont remember if i was suppose to or not.. if i wasent suppose to any suggestions?
If i'm not mistaken yes you doo.
i don't think so. i never repartitioned mine.
Kc1 yes... Dont think so on kg4... If you do, and you was not supposed to, you'll get the cant mount/format cache errors... Then you'll have to start all over eith kc1...
Unless someone wants to correct my wrongness...
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
No..im sure when u use Odin and load files if Odin checks re partion then dont uncheck it if.it doesnt check it then leave it alone
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Assumption of resetting Odin between...
if its wrong, unable to mount cache, then its the other way when flash the GB.... 50/50 chance...
I didnt repartition on the kg4 kernel...

I think you only have to re partition when using a PIT file along with pda, csc etc. Otherwise, you leave that option unchecked.

This is correct. The option for repartitioning will check itself after the pit is selected.

[Request] PIT File for 16GB SGH-I727 Re-Partition

Sunday, March 18, 2012
SGH-I727 Owners & XDA Members:
I need to completely repartition, reformat, and reinstall OS on my Skyrocket; but I've only got the radio, OS, and CSC. I still need the PIT file for my phone in order to repartition. Without it, repartitioning will fail and soft-brick my phone. I've searched the forum, and maybe I'm not using the right keywords to search, but I just can't find it. Is there anyone out there who has this file or can point me to it? I would be very appreciative. Thanks in advance!
Thank you,
Ed

Honestly I think we have yet to see a pit file for our skyrocket. I can't get heimdall to work on my windows or my linux machine. I mean it works but doesn't recognize my phone. If you know a trick to make it work ide pull the pit for ya. I wonder if there is a way to do it with adb?

Just urious, y do u need to complrtely partition? Erasing data, system and emmc partitions, as well as reflashing radio then odin stock is the same, no?

[Q] Tried rooting my phone first time, soft bricked it.

I got it rooted, installed a few apps and everything seemed to be working fine, i shut it off for the night and woke up yesterday morning and it gave me this screen.
(I cant post a link, but if you google Firmware Upgrade Encountered, it pulls up quite a few pictures of this same situation.
I can't get into download or recovery mode. The samsung logo will appear for a split second before this screen appears. Kies does not reconize the phone. All i want to do is get my phone to turn on and go back to stock settings.
Can anybody please help me?
Use odin to flash the stock rom. Did you pull the battery?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Im not sure where to get the stock rom.. and when i get it should i put it next to PDA and tick the same boxes i used to root it? Also, do i need to use a pit file?
EDIT: Also yeah, i did pull the battery out. Thats the only way to turn the phone off now, as it is completely unresponsive.
Go to Sammobile.com. you'll down load a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file out of it. Use that in PDA. Only have auto-reboot and f.reset checked.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
Sorry to be such a noob.. but I looked around on that site and can't seem to find a .zip file to download.. the only files i can find are for phones that aren't mine.
You'll have to register, it's free. There is a firmware section on the site. It'll walk you through the type of phone, etc. And then give you s couple of files available for Doreen load. The newest one is ics
Damn spell correction

But if you can't get in download mode (per your op) downloading the file will do you no good. I don't understand why the other poster told you to Odin. You can't Odin unless it is in download mode. :what:

If you can get the com port to light up in Odin chances are it'll flash. That'll be the next step.

While it's downloading, does odin recognize your phone? Also, I'm assuming you put the battery back in and having the same problem, it didn't boot.

Im not sure how to tell if its recognizing it, I did try that with the battery, and after it downloaded there as an MD5 File and an application extension. what should I do with the extension?
You don't need the extension, just the md5. When you plug your phone into the computer with Odin running, the batter needs to be in, does the com port light up? I'm also assuming your Odin version is 1.85
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app

I've not had good luck with the newer one. I'd recommend 1.85.
