[Q] Dim and greenish screen after replacing the digitizer - HTC Sensation

I cracked my screen when I drop my phone, so I just brought a digitizer and replaced it. The phone works fine with the new digitizer, but now the screen is dim and greenish. I already turn the screen brightness to maximum, but it's only 25% of the original brightness. When I look at the pixel closely, it seem like I lose half of the pixels.
Anyone has similar situation?

Did you check the screen connecting flex cable, it seems that you lost one component (Red, Green, Blue), did you try opening a clear white image and seeing what do you actually see?

thanks for the reply.
i checked all the cables, and they are connected (unless i damaged them during the process). I even tried disconnecting them and reconnect again, but still no change.
the white actually appear to be white, but the black is dark green.

it depends now waht does "dark green" meen to you. LCD screens dont have a true black, but a purple, green (or whatever color) shade over the black. I think it is due to the digitizer, it is not the same quality and it isnt as transparent as the stock one. Images (not screen shots, but real photos) of the screen can help.

Lcd screens - which colour uses most power?

Hi
As in the title, just wondered if you had a white screen and a black screen, which one needs more power for the lcd to display? Or is it the same? Or to produce black needs no power as lcd screens are black anyway even when its turned on before its displaying anything?
Thanks
w
Pixels on an LCD screen don't actually emit light (that's the backlight's job). Hence, the lowest power state for an LCD that's powered on is white, because all the pixels are "powered off" in that state. However, the power consumption of those things is so small that you probably won't see any measurable difference.
red 0%
green 0%
blue 0%
= black
red 100%
green 100%
blue 100%

Actually, you need to understand how the display works to answer the question correctly.
With an LCD you have a white backlight that is on no matter what the display is displaying; white, black, images... Each pixel is made of a red, green, and blue part, each with a shutter in front of it. White would be all shutters open and black all shutters closed.
Some LCDs use power to open shutters and these are called "normally black" because unpowered, all shutters will be closed. Others are the opposite, requiring power to close the shutters, and are called "normally white."
So the answer is that a normally white LCD will use less power displaying white, and a normally black LCD will use less power displaying black. But it really doesn't use that much power to open and close the pixel shutters, so the difference isn't that big.
OLED displays (such as AMOLED) are different, though. Each pixel actually produces its own light, so for these white uses way more energy than black.

The difference is so small as to be unmeasurable for all practical purposes; you won't notice any difference whatever to battery life by changing your colour scheme, for example.
As has been noted by others, OLED displays work very differently - there, you can make a big difference to power consumption by keeping everything as dark as possible.

[Q] Defective display?

I don't really know what is happening but my year old nexus 5 seems to be developing a display problem.
It got a yellowish tint at the bottom of the screen but the top 3/4 is totally fine. What is causing it and is it just me who have this problem? Also, if you have any, please post some solutions to the problem without RMA or replacing anything.
It might be something about light leak but I am not seeing any when the screen is displaying a black picture.

I have a similar thing but it tends to only be on the bottom 1/8 of the screen.
I tend to find this is because this is the least used area of the screen - being where the soft keys go. Try running it full screen, full brightness on a white page (probably using something like this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gombosdev.displaytester&hl=en_GB). When you do this, does the yellowish tint fade over time?

By Over Time do you mean 30 minutes or a day? I tried this method before for about half an hour and it does not seems to be working. Will try it again now. But will it really help?
My OCD is killing me. I told myself not to look at the tint and I end up just staring at it.

Pink Stripe (screen burn?)up the left side after using TWRP recovery.

I have an interesting situation with my screen.
It seems that after running TWRP to restore my partition,I have a persistent pink stripe running up the left side of my screen.
I've also noticed that when TWRP runs, there"s two very bright neon blue bars up either side of the screen.
My screen brightness settings in TWRP were 40%,but sliding the control full bright or dim made no difference.
I am running TWRP 2.8.6,IIRC.
I don't know if the stripe will ever totally fade out,but it does seem to be about half as bright since it first appeared a day or so ago.
There was a stripe on the right, curved side, but that seems to be gone now.
I am running marshmallow,if that makes any difference.
Any ideas?
Anyone run into this before?
Nobody has seen this?
Just to clarify,I did post this to save others the possible problem I'm seeing.
I had this very issue. My screen would have horizontal rainbow lines. Eventually the screen turned green.
I solved the problem by first removing the battery and then the back exposing the motherboard. I disconnected all of the ribbon connectors. Then I used compressed air at a low volume to blow all over the exposed motherboard. I then reconnected the ribbon connectors making sure that they were firmly in place. After reassembling the phone and replacing the battery, everything works just fine. It's been two weeks now and no more problems.

Sounds like you had a random issue due to a dirty connection.
My issue is very defined exactly where the two blue-white bars run up either side while using TWRP.
They are pretty darned bright too.
They reminded me of the neon trim they used to put on juke boxes.
I have seen screen images of TWRP and the side bars weren't there.
I just wonder if I had a screen setting wrong or have other people seen these bars as well.
I will remember your idea though.
I use Micky387 v3.0.2 and the UIAbstract theme. It still looks odd with the theme, but better than no theme. I do not recall anything permanent because of it. I remember the stock twrp was extremely bright. I use that on my S3 too. I have 300sec and 23% brightness... I suspect the version you have is just too old? I had stripes using a cwm build, but nothing permanent either.
OTOH I have been using burn-in fix for a week now and it doesn't seem to help me. Some people swear by those apps. I got mine second hand and wasn't shown the "burnt-in keyboard"! It was only 100$ however...

My stripes have faded to a dull pink.
I've tried those pixel fixers, but they don't seem to work.
It's probably due to the way OLEDs produce light.
If I get fed up in future,I'll just do a new screen.
The stripe burns only showed up after my last round of recovery work.
The version of TWRP is the one listed for my phone at their website,IIRC.

Nexus 5 Display not working. Don't know what to replace.

So, I was trying to replace my Nexus 5s camera and I disassembled the main motherboard. Replaced my camera and everything but after I reassembled the phone, I found out that there's no display. The LEDs work fine, because I see them light up and I see that the screen is black but it's a bright black and the screen is on. So after tampering with it, I found that the little USB charger port wire board wire thst connects just above the battery (idk how to describe it, its the orange strip that locks the battery in place) had a direct correlation with the display. If I unplugged it, the screen would go dark and off. If I replugged it, it would be on again. After doing this a few times, I actually got my phone's display to show for a little while before it went away to black again. So will buying a new orange strip part work or would I have to go to the bottom where the little screen digitizer is? I'm sorry if the problem is unclear because I really don't know how to say it or explain any better. Please help.
Replacing that strip is actually not easy.
With the device open, try to apply a little bit of force on the plug of the orange strip, there are mentions of the contacts stop working after upluging/pluging back.
You probably could buy a front frame (glass, touch, lcd and chassis) from ali cheap.

screen issue

Today my screen made some funny stuff for about a minute the screen sides are black and random colors were splashed on the screen (blue, red, green etc..) the screen was half messed up and the other half where you could actually see the UI the colors were all faded. This stayed for about a minute and then returned to normal.
I'm worried now that this is the end of the life of this screen. Anybody had this issue? Note that the phone useage was normal not even heavy and it did not drop or anything of that sort
