[Q] Sending phone back for repair - Warranty Q - General Questions and Answers

So my Phone was S-Off and rooted however it started to play up so went back to S-On and Un-rooted, HBOOT now reads ****Locked**** and S-On. Is this all I need to do, does something more need to be done, will they be able to tell? They said on the phone if warranty is voided then I must incur the cost of fixing it..
Id really appreciate your guys help.

[SOLVED] which ruu do i need for s-on

hey folks. i hope some1 can point me in the correct direction.
(yea 1st post _yay_ lame indeed to start with a question at all, but im following xda for quite a while.. :-| )
i want to send in my phone to warranty because i got the dust under screen problem.
i have a vodafone DE branded sensation with software version 1.35.162.1...
now, according to the guide [Guide] to Installing S-off, ClockWork, Root, SuperCID & S-on [03/AUG/11](noobproof) i want to follow the steps to gain s-on again and removin CWM.
my problem is i cant find any RUU higher than/or equal to x.35.xxx.x since downgrading doesnt work and i only have this RUU RUU_Pyramid_Vodafone_DE_1.27.162.1_Radio_10.42.9007.00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_191975_signed.
i am on stock rom now, unrooted. i came from CM7 a10.
question is which ruu can i take now and could i use a htc europe ruu by changing the cid?
thanks in advance
ok didnt look for any search terms related to the word "downgrade"...
i found a link for Eng-Hboot where i can downgrade to HBOOT Version 1.17.2008
after that i shud be able to flash lower ruu versions...
My answer maybe is a litte OT but...
Do You think they will be check which exactly ROM you should have? Also read for terms of warranty, there is nothing about loosing warranty after changing software
*** LOCKED ***
PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.18.0000
SoftwareVersion 1.45.162.2
seems like i solved it on my own!
thread can be closed, deleted, whatsoever... sry for spam

Get back to stock, warranty?

Hi,
I decided to contact the customer service because of problems of painting, and 3G/UMTS bad signal problems, and they told me that I have to send my smartphone to their Assistance Center. I've reinstalled my stock rom, but now my bootloader has the ***Re-Locked*** flag. How could I avoid to lose warranty on my phone?
Sorry for my English

You have to:
1) S-off your device http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155135&highlight=s-off
2) follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155955 to remove the "Unlock/relock" status in bootloader and come back to S-on!
That's all

There should be a discussion in general section. Use the search button. You could also see at here http://www.xda-developers.com/android/bootloader-customization-now-open-to-more-s-off-htc-devices/ but not sure!
Please do a search on writing the secure flag to 3.
I'm searching atm...
--- edit
please read here: return to s-on
and follow here: One S All-In_One_Toolkit
didn't exactly find what I was searching for.
You didn' mention 'tampered'. Already got rid of that? You need s-off for this.
Thanks to all for the great help!
Now I'm going to s-off my phone. So, the next step is to customize the bootloader. But once i've customized the bootloader, the phone will be rooted and S-off however?
EDIT:
Everything works, thankyou all.
I've s-off my phone, lock the bootloader, run my RUU and write secure flag 3.

Revert to stock.

Hey guys I need to revert fully to stock including recovery for warranty purpose. How can I achieve this. I see many revert to stock but they are modified..
Well RUU is as close as you can get, but still if technicians in service center have idea what to check, they will know that your bootloader was unlocked, somewhere in s-off thread there was something about hboot saying 'LOCKED'(currently if you lock your bootloader it will say RE-LOCKED), but it also used to keep the phone in hboot screen only, so if you wont check the thread out.

[Q] HELP - getting back to stock for warranty purposes

Hi everyone,
Few weeks ago my device started to overheat quite a lot when being used (I dont play 3d games, well I dont play games at all on this device), for browsing the internet on wifi or 3g network, it gets hot in the bottom part of the screen above the touch buttons. I tried buying a new battery, I bought a original HTC, but a bigger one for Evo 3D, but it is still getting hot, and I dont know whether it is a hardware issue or a software caused. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong? ...my sensation is rooted, bootloader unlocked via HTCDev, S-OFF..and I still might try to use my warranty to get it repaired but I dont want to take the chance that I would be told that the device had been unlocked and rooted and thus not being repaired...I read that it ist possible to get device back to S-ON and LOCKED, not RELOCKED, so that the repair center wont find out that it was unlocked and rooted before...but I could not find a tutorial and I also do want to brick my device so I am asking for some help how to get the device back to STOCK rom with S-ON and LOCKED status...
my bootloader says this:
-Firmware-3.33-
Pyramid PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT 1.27.1100
RADIO-11.24A.3504.31_M
OpenDSP-v05.6.0.2226.00.0418
eMMC-boot
Jan 13....
Can you help me with some steps what to do or just point me to some tutorial? I would be really gratefull for any advice.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 There is pretty much everything covered about RUUs.
And gaining the ''***Locked***'' status for bootloader is impossible. It will say ''***RELOCKED***''

it is possible since you are on S-OFF

Okay, maybe it goes to ''Locked'' state itself once you go to S-ON/Flash a RUU
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1731666 (Read ganehs's last post)
I just read that, but I am not 100% sure of anything. I haven't done it.
thank you guys for your help! :good:

[Q] How to install official firmware from HTC?

I have custom recovery, updated HBOOT and running CM11.
Now its time to buy new phone and sell this one.
But how to downgrade this all and install official HTC Sense? (Not some custom Sense-based ROM).
As i imagine this i need to install windows and some HTC special apps, and somehow remove recovery...
You need to provide more details. Post your bootloader details please, as well as the original CID that came on the phone. Also, questions go in the q&a section, I'll ask for this to be moved there for you.

Thanks, sorry for wrong section.
Seems original CID is lost, it will not allow to install original firmware with fake one? Or just some warranty things?

Edit that image out asap, it contains your IMEI, which should never be posted publicly.
Did you not make note of the original CID before changing it? You shouldn't sell a device with SuperCID unless the buyer specifically wants a modified device and understands the dangers. Is it an at&t model? Telstra? Rogers? Hong Kong?

I made a note in txt file on desktop... And thought "need to save in in some googledoc or so.."
Its At&t american, ordered from ebay to Ukraine and than i bought it in local auction site 2 years ago. For this years i lost even charger, so will sell only phone without any documents and boxes.
I made all this HBOOT and CID changes just to get CM working, what dangers this can produce?

The danger is that to return the device to stock you need to return it to being s-on, and if we weren't able to work out what the original CID was it would remain as SuperCID. Here's where the danger is, running any RUU 4.1 or above while the phone is s-on and with SuperCID will brick the phone. But, if it's an at&t device then the original CID is CWS__001. Are you wanting to return the device to fully stock at&t specs?

I want to return it in some condition where someone who will buy this phone will not break it by trying to update from preferences.
If i will leave it as is - i need to write full list of all this changes i made with bootloader and firmware when will be selling, cause somebody will think its not unlocked, or not rooted, will try to do something and get brick. But in same time if i will write some much info - will be hard to sell it, cause 90% of people never saw clean android here, they will think its something wrong.
This is main reason to flash original firmware.
But if i will only flash original rom - in some day buyer will try to update it via HTC and get error and call me, or in worst case get some brick...
So if it possible to revert everything - please tell me some list of things to do: CID, S-OFF etc. and where to read about them on forum.

The first thing you need to do is backup whatever personal data (images, music, etc) you have on the device to your PC.
Next go into TWRP recovery and wipe data and sd card (internal storage).
Boot the phone and make sure all of your personal data is gone.
Next you want to run the at&t 5.18 RUU:
http://dl3.htc.com/application/HTC_One_X_RUU_5.18.502.1.exe
After that you can return the device to the original CID:
Code:
fastboot oem writecid CWS__001
Then relock the bootloader:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Then return the device to s-on:
Code:
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
Now you have a fully stock device.
