[Q] GPU? - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone...I am currently on a stock set up and I've noticed whenever I scroll the items on the page almost have a trail to them. Is this an implementation of honeycomb or is it the GPU not keeping up?

Anyone can correct me if im wrong, But if im not mistaken the issue you're describing is called "ghosting". I know it's not an answer to your question, But knowing what its called should help you to find the answer to your issue.

Thanks fore a discription haha I had no other way to put it
Sent from my Gummy Charged GBE 2.1 using XDA App

The ghosting you're seeing is from a low quality display. All mobile devices have them, despite their claims of having the highest quality displays.

Its not that bad on my droid inc 1 but on the xoom. Its very noticeable.

Acer iconia A500 has the same amount of ghosting than the Xoom. If you want a tab with very few ghosting, go for the Asus transformer.
My HTC Desir HD also has a nice amount of ghosting. I can remember that my old Galaxy tab 7.0 has less ghosting than the Xoom, but the Asus remains the best I could see.
Hope the next generation will get better screens. But I would bet on 2 or 3 more gen to wait lol
Ps : that reminds me how much ghosting the first PSP had, that was terrific. I got ride of it only because of that !

Thinking about trading my A500 for a Xoom...

I walked into Best Buy last week with every intention of buying a Xoom Tablet, but while I was sitting there, I started playing with the Acer Iconia TAB A500 and ended up getting it because it was cheaper. I've been playing with it for the last week and have been somewhat disappointed in some of it's downfalls. The GPS is probably the worst I've ever seen, for some reason doesn't like to play half of my music, Acer support is, for the most part, non-existent, and I've yet to be able to find a very protective case for it, and as a Paramedic student, this thing is traveling all over with me.
So my question is as follows: Are there any ground breaking differences between the Xoom and the A500?
I've read just about every comparison article written, but I'd figure that I'd come here and ask the people that use the Xoom the most.
Edit: I'm talking about the wifi only versions.
Your comparing the two worst 3.1 tablets on the market. Go with Samsung 10.1 or better yet, Asus transformer.

The US Xoom is a Google Experience Device which means you're always going to get OS updates first. The Xoom is also the ONLY tablet that supports 802.11 a/b/g/n that means you can operate on 2.4ghz wifi or 5ghz wifi. The Xoom is built stronger in my opinion.
The samsung is very pretty but after reading about how users are able to just flex them in their hands with little to no effort and reading reports of the glass popping out of the tablet... yeah no thanks. To say that comparing the Acer and the Xoom is comparing the worst two units on the market is short sighted and ignorant at worst.
I'd definately want the Xoom over any other tablet released to date.
So how's the playback & GPS on the Xoom? I'm been having difficulty with a lot of my 1080p videos on the A500, and the gps can't get a lock to save it's own life. I've updated the A500 to 3.1 and while the 1080p video playback has improved (it's not as choppy), the GPS is a worse as ever!
The GPS works like a charm. I've used it as a giant Garmin a few times. As for the video. I haven't tried anything in HD, but flash video can be a little jumpy. Most videos below 1080p are butter, but like I said, you can get the occasional jumpiness in flash videos.

Your kidding right? The xoom is far better then the galaxy tab, its plastic low Res crappiness. If you don't like the xoom gtfo of our forum. You dumbasses who are just here to talk **** are getting annoying. I'm assuming you own all four tablets and have thouroughly tested their pros and cons right?
The xoom is a very solid, well spec'd well supported piece of hardware.
Oh by the way how are you liking 3.2 on your gtab? Its beautiful on my xoom. Wait Samsung hasn't pushed that update yet? Sorry
Timely updates are important too. Xoom wins again

Yea. GPS status n tools works well enough to accurately read car speed on my xoom, accurately lol.
The xoom is also pure google, which means its like the nexus line of phones.... you get the latest updates faster, the now 2 year old nexus is still more up to date then most phones you can buy today. So, ice cream sandwich and beyond is all but promised for the xoom. People have different opinions, but I'm enjoying 3.2 right now, before any other tablet. Like the galaxy tab 10.1 for example.

There is no reason to answer like that. I have a galaxy tab and probably I will return it today for a xoom or a refund because of the newton rings problem on the display. But I can guarantee that the galaxy tab display is far superior to any other display actually on the market. Why you say low res? It has the same resolution of the xoom 1280x800. It uses an EPS display and it's much better on brightness and contrast than the xoom one. You shouldn't over react like that providing wrong information just because you like your xoom so much.
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk
i believe he reacted like that because there are a lot of guys coming into this forum to talk crap..... when all is said and done, all these tabs have pretty much the same specs. The 10.1 has no ports or SD but a nicer screen. The iconia is bigger and heavier, but cheaper and has a full sized USB. And the transformer has a nice screen but no USB without the dock. Its all about what's important to the person buying the device. I returned my iconia for the xoom and haven't looked back, and yes I tried the transformer for a few days too. It was nice but having to attach the dock to hook up USB devices was a pain in my opinion. I bought a tab so I didn't need a keyboard and mouse.

Honestly if I lived outside the US and had wifi only I'd just flash the US images and be done with it.
I was actually suggesting the transformer over the gt any day..I was not trying to say don't get it but I just found it odd the compare was zoom vs Acer when two knew tabs are on the market. I own the ts and am seriously considering the zoom..the snapdragon is the killer for me for.

Well I went and returned the Iconia today and picked up a Xoom. It feels like its better built and more solid, and the GPS receiver is rock solid, which was a deal breaker for me. The folks at best buy were shocked that I was returning it for the Xoom, as they all thought that the Acer was the better tab. I feel much happier with the Xoom, its doing everything that I need it to and more!

GPS is one of the biggest reasons I chose the Xoom. The wifi version has a TRUE GPS chip onboard.
It's not assisted (rofl) gps, nor cellular triangulation, but a real gps chip and you don't have to buy the 3G version (cough icrap cough) to get it either.

Its not that. Its like this, I'm a loyal HTC customer, and not a big fan of samsungs phones. But do I go post in the captivate forum talking crap about a product I don't own, when someone needs help with a valid question? No. That's rude and counterproductive

I chose the xoom because I like the nice solid feel, I hate UI overlays and know how google beautifully supports devices they use to launch a new version of android. Also, I purchased mine before there was any competition, Ive played with a few other tabs, the galaxy felt flimsy, the transformer was about equal to my xoom IMO, and the Acer felt.... awkward I guess

Asus Transformer? Are you kidding?
I am on my second TF. There are some major manufacturing issues with this device. The screen bleeds light from around the edges, the battery drain on their dock, speaker issues, Flash 10.3 at 6 frames/sec, etc. IMHO, the TF is not a good device at all. The 32GB TF was $499, the dock was $149. I had to return the device once and the new one, well, it is OK but no better. I think the Asus TF is sexy but overpriced. I got my Xoom for $499 and it just has a better feel and operates better. Once I get my 3.2 OTA update to have a MicroSD, the Xoom will probably be my favorite.
I did and I'm happy I did it.
I just got 3.2 last night. There's not really much use for the SD card. Or, I haven't figured it out, and ive spent alot of time trying, and the only way I can even see files on it was a file manager, but its already partitioned for my evo. So I think I may need to find a new one and try it.
3.2 is even faster and less battery draining, less force closes across all aps, and the portrait home/app screen is now lag free for me. The keyboard feels improved and auto correct and predict seem more intelligent. Zooming apps is nice. Browser is snappier along with most all data using apps. Maybe some updating on that end?
I'm very happy with my xoom after 3.2

Lenovo IdeaPad A2109

I'm thinking about picking up one of these tablets.. any idea if they've been rooted? Any custom roms?
Thanks

Well I have one (in my signature), and there is no official root I know of. However, this device is very similar to Asus transformer infinity and also runs pics, which as an almost universal root tool somewhere (don't remember where to find it). I am hoping someone would be willing to test this on the a2109, as theres many things I wish for root with. As for roms, cwm will need to be made for this and, again, infinity pad may help. But in all honesty, this is so fast that I would be too concerned for roms. Theming would be nice though

I totally agree the speed and smooth, I actually went in to get the ASUS TF300F, but when I held it was just too heavy. There are a few cons such as the camera and the lack of pretty much any accessories. I'd read on another forum that a guy got the Galaxy 8.9 case M-EDGE case for it, so I got the 14.99 one and it fits, though it is pretty tight, and doesn't close completely. It's close enough that I don't worry about anything scratching the screen. Also the way it folds does allow you to use the camera with ease and none of the buttons are covered. I've spent 4 hours searching for a case made specifically for the tablet and not even the MFG has one yet. They do have a picture of a smart cover, but it's nowhere on the site or anywhere else.
I think the people that make non OEM products have bought into the reviews slamming the tablet so much that they didn't decide to make anything for it, which is pretty sad. It's an awesome tablet for people on a budget and doesn't like the garden wall of the KF, lack of additional memory of both the KF and Nexus, and IMHO the specs are awesome. The salesperson did a bench mark test in store and was totally shocked at the rankings it ranked well above all the big name tablets, so at 259 I was definitely sold.
Speaking of the screen, I've viewed it at every angle that I use and there was no problem. I've previously owned the Toshiba Thrive 10.1 and this baby blows it out the water with ease. I kept my KF because trade in went down to 35.00 from 75.00 within a week.
Maybe with people giving positive feedback, more retailers will carry products for it.

I've been posting reviews to every site I can think of, except Amazon. They still haven't gotten their **** together regarding the A2109 specs. Probably a campaign of FUD to sell their own products. Newegg, though, has very few reviews so far...
For those of you not on the Lenovo forums yet, there is now a dev ROM for the A2109. Right now we're at the point of having root, cwm, and a ROM free of bloatware and deodexed -- ready for some theming. Not like I've done any of the work -- by "we" I mean thanks to mcl we now have it.

Well, I took the Lenovo A2109 back to Best Buy today and swapped it for the ASUS TF300T 16GB for a 90.00 difference. They have the same specs under the hood based on a few quick searches on the web. Honestly I hated to do it, because I rather liked the A2109, but the screen kept doing these weird flashes. At first I thought it was something I was doing, but I googled it and it's a known issue. I decided that with the screen already being the only bad thing about the tab and then the flashing I'd just go with something else. Luckily BB had the 16GB ASUS in stock, since it wasn't there the last few times I checked.
There seems to be more support and accessories for the ASUS tab as well. I've not had the chance to test it yet because apparently you have to let it charge a couple of hours before you can use it. (Thought I'd have to make another trip to BB)
I'll update on my blog when I get some play time with it. Just before I took the A2109 back I ran AnTuTu and Vellamo tests on it for S&G and it ranked pretty high, so I want to see if the ASUS tab does the same thing.
I can't post any urls here as a new member, but there is a link to my blog on my profile. Just case anyone is interested.

Spec wise the Nook tab can't touch the ASUS or Lenovo. The only place it would be beat the Lenovo is the screen. Right now the ASUS is running stock JB and still out performing the Lenovo, which I bought for the specs in spite of the screen.

Just picked one of these up tonight -- primarily for the family (non-techie wife & 2nd grade daughter). We've used it for a little over an hour and I'm already noticing random screen flashes. So far they're not anywhere near annoying enough to think about taking it back, but I'm keeping an eye on it. So far very, very pleased!

Excellent! I have noticed the screen glitches myself, and they don't seem to become more frequent or serious over time, so I think what you see is what you will get. I suppose you notice them more when you are concentrating on it. Ordinarily a defect like this would drive me crazy, but for the price I'll overlook it!

Yeah? I'm jealous. Of course, at this point I'd be pre-ordering the Nexus 10 if I were willing to pay more than the $250 I shelled out for this guy. The one thing I would miss, tho, is the convenient size. I really like how easy it is to handle. The 10" on the Gtab were a little much for me. Rationalizations... But now I have an upgrade to look forward to -- after mcl & I get an overclocking kernel running

I've been thinking about the Nexus 7 inch since the 16 GB model dropped to 199 to replace my KF. I still think 7 inches is the sweet spot for a portable tablet, and I'd also love to have the "true" Android experience with out MFG tweaks, but that will be after the New Year and who knows what will be available then. They seem to be introducing the next big thing every week now.

Multiscreen and overlay features of the Galaxy Note 10.1

I just got back from bestbuy after asking them if anyone else was complaining about the I/O performance issues of the TF700T (seems to be an issue with the entire TFP line up).
They showed me the Galaxy Note 10.1 and I have to say it looked impressive. It was very responsive the sylus was nice and the multi screen feature seemed pretty killed (being able to manipulate two apps on screen at once). There was also a way to have overlays of running apps. For example, you could watch a video and have it overlay on top of the other apps you were running.
The whole demo experience was extremely smooth and it looked like it had 2 GB of RAM (I haven't dived into the other specs yet).
The build quality seemed a little cheaper for sure (plastic vs brushed aluminum) but all in all I was much more impressed then I've ever been with my TFP or TFI...
The Transformers / EEE Pad might "look" pretty on the outside but I'm quickly find the parts inside are simply subpar.
If they made a Galaxy Note 10.1 with a keyboard dock with a USB port and SD card I probably wouldn't look back...
How about you guys? is there a way to get these features on all Android tablets? Or are they exclusive to the Galaxy note?
Thanks!

Thanks!

Well, Samsung's "Multi-Screen" feature probably requires a lot of Samsung Framework that would have to be ported to use with our tablets. On the other hand, there is something called "CornerStone" by Onskreen. Same concept as Samsung's "Multi-Screen" feature. There were I think two builds for the Transformer Prime, but nothing for the Transformer Infinity. I, personally don't know how to port anything but maybe a port will come along sometime in the near future?
Hope this helped you!

Cornerstone is dead. Google killed it. And with Asus' IO issues and 1GB of RAM multitasking on Asus tablets would be challenging.
"When the Android team, specifically software engineer Dianne Hackborn, saw plans to implement Cornerstone into the next version of CyanogenMod it became abundantly clear that there were those at Google who did not want this to happen. Hackborn’s comments regarding the announcement began as a plea not to implement a potentially disruptive system and ended with direct threats, complete with consequences should the team move forward with Cornerstone."

I can only agree with Barry. Cornerstone is dead, and most likely scenario is that we will never see multiscreen on the tf700. If running app side by side is important to you, you shouldn't get the Infinity at all. There are only 2 options for you: Note 10.1 and Windows RT.

Side by Side is cool feature, but personally I didn't use it much when I had Note. The main reason was side by side worked on only selected apps. For instance, I could not do two browser side by side. I could not read ebook/comic and watch browser flash movie. Polaris was supported for multiscreen, but if I wanted to use other office application then not supported. Though definitely was good feature on paper, but personally felt restrictive, and not as much practical use as I wanted but could be totally different if your use is mainly involving the supported applications.
What I ended up doing was I still used Overskreen, which is available for any android device. And watch flash movie along with reading book etc. Also with Overskreen I could do side by side two browsing. Built in movie player on Note actually allowed floating video, which was cool and useful. But this can be done with market software for any device as well.
Having said this, I think 2GB Rom would definitely help Note even using Overskreen or other floating applications. So if simultaneous multitasking is your major interest, Note is definitely something to consider.
But eventually when Samsung's rumored P10/Nexus 10 releases (probably 2 to 3rd quater of next year my guess), I think most users will converge onto the device from Infinity or Galaxy Note 10.1.

Yeah had a major headach when i woke up this morning:/ Next time I'll stick to just hard liquor.
You may have something there. Although as much as l would like to take the plunge I may find myself missing some of the components the Infinity offers (Hd screen, Keyboard dock with extra batt/sd slot, Hdmi port). I consider myself a Cinephile and ultimately I would be unhappy if I moved away from the HD screen. And extra battery life.

Wouldn't be an issue if this POS had some reduced disk contention - Thing is about as unpredictable as my wife.
The really annoying part is that the disk is locking up yet I have 200-250 MB of RAM free....
The TFI is not getting multiscreen but it could at least hopefully get proper multitasking =)
I have both devices. I have updated my TF700T to JB but for some reason find myself picking up the Note 10.1 more than the Infinity. I'm not sure why, but the Note seems to just feel better in my hands. Also, front facing speakers do wonders for movie watching. Most vids I watch don't need a HD screen, but, yes I miss it when I'm not watchng on the Infinity.
I don't really use the multiscreen feature much I actually use Overseen all the time. The stylus for the Note is real handy and hand writing recognition on the Note is excellent. I think I'm going to have to do a couple of factory reinstall on my Infinity to get it running real smooth. It's just not there yet even with JB. I do have fewer crashes (browser and email) but on the Note, I never have any!

Should i get TF700

I can't try any tablets out, cause they din't release in India still now, nexus 7 might come out next month,,,but might be overpriced here :/
Actually i'm asking my uncle whose in USA to get this for me, and only Asus tablets have international warranty
If nexus 7 comes out with 32 gigs ill get that then.
The newest tablets I can compare for you is this and the GNote 10.1
GNote 10.1 runs faster and the s-pen is great
TF700 is a bit laggier but amazing res and yes, a lot of apps aren't that great for 1080p
But we know apps will be

Lets ignore the higher than average build quality issues, since you can just pick a place that will let you return many times until you get one without visual hardware flaws. (make sure you do that.. pick a place with a good return policy)
I am seriously disappointed in this tablet. (it's my second one) It's really slow and really choppy. I would NOT spend my own money on this device. But that's your decision to make. I shouldn't have to unlock and void my warranty to make my tablet work at an "almost" acceptable level. Running Cleanrom 1.0 makes the tablet way better, but still nowhere near the level an expensive device should be at. I'll try Cleanrom 2.1 tonight.
When I say really slow and choppy, this isn't even with games or items that really tax the resources. This is while using things like Pulse reader.. or pretty much anything that has to scroll or requires multiple touch actions in a row. like open email, scroll to bottom to check something, and press delete all in pretty quick succession. You have to pretty much pause between each screen touch so the tablet can keep up or you get "Application Not Responding". This is likely related to the poor I/O. (my 2 year old phone, and 2 year old ACER dont have this issue)
I helped out a previous employer and was given this tablet as a gift.. I keep it because depending on how you look at it, it wasn't really my hard earned cash that paid for it. I'm sure there are many people out there who love their tablet... But compared to my much older and much lower spec Acer A500 this thing sucks. If you dont NEED the keyboard.. try the Acer A700 instead.
The screen on the TF700 is very nice (the serious light bleed is only really noticeable at start-up). I have had no issues with blurriness or general ugliness. Obviously with the high resolution things must scale and any applications built with low quality graphics will be fuzzy when scaled. This is not an issue with the tablet, but rather with the App developer. Any high res screen will have the same issues until all app devs convert to higher quality graphics.
After dealing with my friends terrible TF201 (prime) and now this TF700 (2 of them).. Which proves ASUS is either not capable of fixing the performance issues, or simply doesn't care. Either way it will take a lot for me to throw any cash toward ASUS in the future.
Moved to the correct board.
In the future, for faster service, and be sure to use the report thread button, and to alert one of us...
Okay, but so so many people say tf700 is really good, Wont JB make it better?
or am i better of getting nexus 7 32 gig + OTG to add my external HDD.
I would love to get the note 10.1, but sadly it doesnt have a international warranty.. and i makes no sense getting it from India as its around 40,000rs(800$)
So,i'll be getting either T700 or Nexus 7 or yea ipad mini(though am not intrested in apples products).
Honestly, i don't know why so many people say bad things about this tablet. No device is perfect, they all have their flaws... you just have to choose which ones are most important to you. Since I've gotten this tablet I've experienced nothing but good things... apps and games are fine and will only get better. Speed is fine with the browser2ram apk installed... and the look and feel of this thing is just amazing. Don't let all the negative comments here mislead you. I was worried when I bought this tablet then came here to read only negative things, but after taking the leap of faith I have no regrets.

No don't get it.
Why?
Because if you can't get rid of it easily after being disappointed then there you are.
Stuck with it...
...unless your not too worried about having a problematic tablet.
Well. i agree with all your point's.
Acer and 2-3 more compaines are coming out with 1080p tabs + htc butterfly which is a 1080p phablet.
So, i assume all these "might" lead to a quality full HD app's?
And does the nexus 7 support OTG
Great now i find out it has dead pixel issues :/
I think it's a good investment. I love the **** out of my Inifnity. Yes, there are some QC issues like light bleed (very little in my case) and screen adhesive issues (again, very little for me) but I still think the price is justified. This is why stores have return policies. The best thing a consumer can do in this case, is to give the company as much feedback as possible. The majority of consumers don't realize how much influence they really have. Even the iPad has issues like these. Granted, Apple customer support is probably a lot more responsive. I still think people should not go into the tablet market, being so young as it is, and expect perfection.

I wouldn't recommend this tablet. I have had it since it launched and I waited too long to return it.I waited for JB to be released on it. It ran ok with ICS but now that it has JB its pretty sluggish and choppy compared to other tablets in the Transformer line that run JB(which was a huge letdown considering the hardware in this thing). And as of now, there nothing optimized for its 1080p screen. This tablet is just a little too far ahead of its time. If i could make any recommendation, I would say wait until the Nexus 10 is released.
Yea nexus 10 will be too late(and probably when it comes out i wont be able to get it, cause next year my uncle might not come down to india).. now i'm looking into nexus 7,ipad mini and ipad 3 :/

From what I read OTG may not be fully supported (read only)
Would you by any chance consider the Windows Surface as an alternative?

[Q] Get rid of the Infinity?

I am awaiting the arrival of a brand new ASUS Transformer TF700.I have read almost 90% of the issues, pros and cons with this tablet. This has thrown me for a loop and as an IT student I don't think one should have to be on a constant lookout for such an expensive item.Fortunately for me the tablet comes with a 14day return for money .I am not even going to open it,I am thinking of replacing it with the NEXUS 10. I am really afraid of taking a chance with such a tablet that can go defective at any time. There is no telling just how good the NEXUS 10 is,but from initial reports its better than gambling on the Infinity. What are your views on this ? Is the Infinity worth the stress ?
If you don't want the Infinity than get the Nexus. They are two different products for different purposes and use cases.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
It is all a matter of personal preference.
I owned the Infinity for 3 months before selling it. During that time, I exchanged it twice thinking I kept getting a defective tablet, because each one was slow, sluggish and had the occasional screen flicker. Not to mention the bad I/O. Another thing that bothered me is, most of the apps I used, and games I played, even YouTube, looked really washed out. I kept it until the JB update to see if it would make the tablet any better, but it didn't(to me anyway it felt more sluggish after). From day one of owning the tablet, I tried pretty hard to convince myself that I like the tablet, but after a while I gave up, and decided to sell it.
I bought the Nexus 10 when it launched, and from the moment I got it, I loved it. It's smooth, it's fast, the screen is awesome, and it feels real comfortable to hold. The front facing stereo speakers are also pretty cool, they sound great, and they can get pretty loud. All the apps that I used on the Infinity look way better on the Nexus 10.
This is just my personal opinion and preference though. It all depends on what you are going to use it for, and what you prefer.
I have owned the tf700 for about a month.
This is a fact. The read/write speed to the internal flash is really slow. To overcome this problem you will need to unlock and install a custom ROM/APKs. This will void your warranty.
It's not that the tf700 is unusable with slow flash IO, instead it makes the user experience so very aggravating.
I am going to get the ASUS TF700T for the holidays. In 8 days to be more precise. I can't wait. I am a big techie and want flash some custom stuff to it.
Also waiting for Nexus 10 to come to my country and most probably its bye bye to my infinity then.
User experience just isnt what it should be. I also have ipad and even if I hate itunes and iOS I must say that the performance is so much better. And I am talking about the very first ipad.
You could think that there is something very badly wrong with Android but I also own Samsung Note 2 and there the performance is perfect. Also what i have tried some Samsung tablets they are smooth also. I just dont want lo-res screen on tablet so will try Nexus 10
The nexus 10 has pretty much the same issues. But everyone's so busy drooling over it they forget to read the Nexus 10 forum and see that there's hardly any improvement.

I just got a nexus 10 and a week old tf700 and the user experience on the n10 is far better than the tf700. Everything just works and hardly any lag. I'm not sure how an unlocked tf700 compares though. Where the n10 fails for me is the lower contrast level of the n10. Black arent as black either. And the lack of kb with extended battery. I'm not sure which to keep.

I thought it was just me that thought the tf700 was not all it's advertised to be. Whatever browser I use seems slower than it should be and seems to force close too often. The biggest irritation is that I can't keep the email working. I have MS Outlook on my PC and used that to put email on my Razr Maxx and rooted Nook tablet and they work fine. On tf700 it either doesnt work at all or works a day or 2 then all emails disappear. Sometimes it will load a few msg then as soon as I read one all the rest disappear. I have uninsalled, reinstalled several times and even tried to install it using K-9 mail. Nothing works. Is mine a lemon or an I just doing something dumb? I just know enough to be dangerous!

Honestly I don't know why I bother to respond to a thread like this, but the TF700 Infinity is the best tablet available, bar none, once you have unlocked and flashed a custom ROM/kernel. The best one for performance, smoothness, speed and stability is without doubt CleanROM Inheritance v2.7 with Clemsyn's oc kernel (gpu oc to 700). With a few additional tweaks available during ROM installation, nothing out now comes close to the Infinity. It's worth jettisoning ASUS warranty to unlock the goodness.

Any info helps man and thank you. I'm stuck between my n10 and tf700 right now so I'm really concerned that unlocking wont make it on par with the N10. Dull screen and no kb dock is the only thing steering me away from the n10 but performance is awesome. But I might have a hard time reselling an unlocked tf700 or I'll probably have to take a major los$. Christmas time rolling around so I have to support my hobby and xmas $hopping the best I can =)
An unlocked infinity is by far the best thing you can find. The community has offered a lot to this machine that Asus just couldn't. Laggy Internet are you kidding..? With browser2ram outperforms my pc. 870 on browsermark bench. Yes the io issue is there its poor hardware but we have come a long way since stock now you can't even notice it. This think now flyes. Plus dock plus amazing screen that you can actually see outdoors. N10 or ipad come out in the sun and play.. No way..
