Sasmung Nexus S -or- Samsung Epic 4G ??? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking about switching from T-Mobile to Sprint because their service sucks by me. I'm torn between these two phones. You think it would be a no brainer to go with the Epic, but there seems to be a lot of people complaining about LOS issues.
Which phone is better and why?
Thanks everyone and Happy Thanksgiving!

Nexus s is better here’s why
- Bloatware free
- Upgradable to ice cream sandwich by google
- great and large community of devs
- pretty good battery life

Nexus s. I had the epic. Its a good phone but I'm much more happier with my nexus. And we have official cm7 and miui. Epic doesn't.

Why would going with the Epic be a no brainer? It is almost identical to the NS but without the benefits of prompt updates (literally just received an update to the version of android the Nexus s launched with almost a year ago.

I only stated that because it has better specs (e.g. CPU, display, etc) and it's newer.

GS II epic or the epic 4g from original GS? If its the GS II I would get that over the nexus.

Whatever the hell they call it for the newest one with Sprint. I believe it's the GS II (aka Epic), right?

Yep. That should get ICS but not as fast as the nexus. The hardware is way better

That's the Epic 4G Touch, not the Epic 4G.

So right now I have a rooted hero runnin 2.3 and I want nnothing more than a new phone. I'm highly considering the ns4g, or tue evo. I'd like some ffeedback from nexus ownerson wwhat they think about the s, thank you in advance

I came from the Hero running 2.3 to the nexus myself. I can't get over the difference. It's amazing how easy it to read thing on the screen, how much bridget everything looks. Just the over-all better-ness of the phone. Do it, you won't regret it.

The evo hasalot of Dev support. But its aging hardware will be hurtfull for you after a year. Get the nexus just better over all and of coarse its a Google phone so no waiting for a port you get it first

Can't the same be said for the Nexus; hell a new nexus has already been announced. I am not partial to either one as I have access to both; simply playing devils advocate.

But the evo hardware is going to be far slower in a year than nexus hardware. The Hummingbird processor we've seen in the SGS family is by far better than what the evo is sporting.
I don't have a single concern about my Nexus S (or Epic) not being adequate in a year or two.... I have used an evo now and I already feel that it's a slow clumsy device shoe-horned into a large enclosure to attract the "hummer crowd" ... bigger is better, am i right?
I just got rid of my epic for the ns4g (cracked screen on epic). My fiancée has the EVO and I have to say its a night and day comparison. Battery on the nexus is much better. Everything is smoother, and of course the display is 100x better. The EVO is a nice phone, but hardware wise its a bit out of date.

True but right now a evo will get screwed playing angry birds with ad's with kernels and cm7. Its a nice phone but getting one now would not be a wise descion with this in the same line up

Ty everyone, the nexus being a Google phone is the big selling point to me, I do like the size of the ebo, my dad has one, but it can get a little laggy sometimes, I still have almost a year to upgrade. But the nex will still be my first choice. Unless the nrxt one comes to sprint, and has ics and dual core p:

[Q] What Sprint phone should upgrade to?

I'm still sporting my original HTC Hero (Cyanogenmod 7) rooted etc etc etc...
I was seriously wanting to upgrade to the EVO 3D but some more devices have shown up lately, as of today also.
Thoughts on what I should get? I want power, I tether ALOT so that is a factor. I'll be rooting etc.
Anything other than the EVO 3D I should consider?
Don't get the evo, get the nexus s 4g. I left the evo for this phone. Best decision I've ever made this phone has more developers, no bloatware, faster, smoother, sleeker, more updates. Do not miss my evo aat all.

Really only LTE. I think it has a higher resolution screen too, but I'd still get the GS2.
But Samsung phones look and feel like Mattel made them :/

I actually like their builds .
I just got my lady the Infuse4g and it seems like a nice phone, but too light for me. I like my inspire a bit too much.
Looks nice....
Love the Inspire 4g, but am ready for a upgrade without too much change. Make sense?
I've heard that the 4.7" HTC Runnymede (only name I've heard so far) could possibly be making its way to AT&T after being released in Europe for a few months first. Kinda like the same thing they did with the DesireHD before the Inspire came to the U.S.A.
The sensation xl looks awesome but only single core. But thats probably still heaps of cpu grunt

My thoughts exactly
I just want an HTC phone with build quality like the Inspire, HD resolution, dual core and a decent sized battery. I love the specs on the Galaxy Nexus but I will never buy another Samsung product.
I heard a while back about an "Inspire HD". I think it was on Android Central. I've never seen anything else about it, though.

what android phone do u think has the most dev's

just asking because I'm needing an new back up phone.
I'd assume Nexus ones.
Galaxy s and Nexus s as far as i know. Correct me if I'm wrong.
S2 as well, but Nexus is the only true dev-open phone.
well not the t-mobile ssgs2
i have the Samsung galaxy 2 and there noo great roms i am using beast mod 4..2 i like beast mod but i am looking for a back up phone that is well dev'ed so i can have a stable more problem free phone i would like to get a droid 2 global or a my side kick 4g
p.s witch phone is better side kick or droid 2 global
if you really like to taste a lot of roms and have the latest builds i think ill choose somethink like nexus s or galaxy nexus, they are google phones, so they will get the latest updates.
Hmmm the best is the HTC HD2. It get everything fast

I don't know that quantity is better then quality. ROMS for thunderbolt seem as solid as the phone itself.
HTC Thunderbolt running MIUI
EVO has a lot of roms and good quality ones

Agreed with nightcrawler, solid roms there as well.

Nexus one, at least in their drawers
HTC HD2 for sure, even if it's a bit old

What phone should I get?

I have the Evo 4g but am looking to upgrade. Preferably a phone that the miui rom can me added on but not a deal breaker. Just looking for a faster, updated phone. Any ideas? Also I'm on sprint.

Samsung Galaxy S III or HTC EVO 4G LTE. Those will be probably have MIUI as they are major flagship devices.

I was wavering between those two phones and I pre-ordered the SIII because it has a replaceable battery. I love to have long life so I will probably get an extended battery for it.
You can get the Galaxy Nexus for Sprint. It is a google phone and basically there is a huge developer base for it. I'm sure there are tons of ROMs that are MIUI themed for it. It is also plenty fast sporting a dual core cpu and 1GB of RAM.
Galaxy Nexus or HTC One X
*Derp*
He's on Sprint. So HTC One X would be the HTC EVO 4G LTE.
P.S. The GSIII will probably have a WAY bigger developer party, one of them being I . The phone has more preorders then the iPhone...
I heard about the one x. Thought it was only for at&t. So the evolution 4g lte is a upgrade from the 3d?
