I came from the Hero running 2.3 to the nexus myself. I can't get over the difference. It's amazing how easy it to read thing on the screen, how much bridget everything looks. Just the over-all better-ness of the phone. Do it, you won't regret it.

The evo hasalot of Dev support. But its aging hardware will be hurtfull for you after a year. Get the nexus just better over all and of coarse its a Google phone so no waiting for a port you get it first

Can't the same be said for the Nexus; hell a new nexus has already been announced. I am not partial to either one as I have access to both; simply playing devils advocate.

But the evo hardware is going to be far slower in a year than nexus hardware. The Hummingbird processor we've seen in the SGS family is by far better than what the evo is sporting.
I don't have a single concern about my Nexus S (or Epic) not being adequate in a year or two.... I have used an evo now and I already feel that it's a slow clumsy device shoe-horned into a large enclosure to attract the "hummer crowd" ... bigger is better, am i right?

I just got rid of my epic for the ns4g (cracked screen on epic). My fiancée has the EVO and I have to say its a night and day comparison. Battery on the nexus is much better. Everything is smoother, and of course the display is 100x better. The EVO is a nice phone, but hardware wise its a bit out of date.

True but right now a evo will get screwed playing angry birds with ad's with kernels and cm7. Its a nice phone but getting one now would not be a wise descion with this in the same line up

Ty everyone, the nexus being a Google phone is the big selling point to me, I do like the size of the ebo, my dad has one, but it can get a little laggy sometimes, I still have almost a year to upgrade. But the nex will still be my first choice. Unless the nrxt one comes to sprint, and has ics and dual core p:

EVO 3D Lunch This Month .. Will you return your NS4G

RAdioshack says that June 24th is the release date for the Evo 3D.. after the radio issues are you considering returning the phone?..
i am actually thinking it
i guess everyone loves the Nexus 4G
I already returned mine, and went back to my Evo 4g, waiting for the 3D now.
My Nexus had 50% time without signal, and thus battery life was horrendous.
Well not to rain on the EVO3D parade but....version1 hardware with a new technology ...(the 3d display) not to mention when the Evo launched it had its fair share of radio issues. So it always a gamble with a new handset with new untested(real world testing) hardware. I think I will stick with my Nexus for now and just wait on the next Google phone.

Nope. I'll be keeping my NS4G.
And I'll be hoping that OpenSense (just launched by HTC) will result in parts of Sense being ported to my device...

I'm keeping mine. I love it.

Given Google's response with previous issues with the Nexus One and the GSM Nexus S I'd imagine a fix is on the way in the near future. The Evo 3d is a toss up. Personally I am on board for NFC, both for app development and Google wallet.

No way! Pure Google all the way. I'm keeping my NS4G until I get a Nexus 4 (or whatever the latest Nexus is in 2013). After living with the Hero and the LG Axis, I won't go back. Bloatware & custom skins be gone! More importantly, when I hear Engadget announce the next killer feature for Android, I want it NOW, not 6-9 months from now, if ever.
Yeah im keeping my nexus s 4g i wont be returning it for the evo 3d i love my google nexus s 4g

I'm still loving my non-4g Nexus S, best phone i have ever owned...ever! Honestly I'm apprehensive about the whole "dual-core" thing, which would be the only attraction the EVO 3D reportedly has. Other than the 3D aspect if your into that kind of thing.
Nope. I am sticking with the Nexus line of phones. EVO 3D is a prototype. I guarantee you it will be problem city.
In the meantime, I will still have my Nexus and the peace of mind knowing that I will always have the latest version of Android (barring any minimum hardware requirements).
I can actually watch Google keynotes and be excited.

Torn, please help

I previously had a Vibrant, and loved it. Unfortunately I had a pretty intense water accident with it (sat in a jacuzzi for 10 min before realizing it was in my pocket). I am eligible for an upgrade and am torn on phones. I have to get a phone by the 25th, so I can't wait for the Hercules, so I'm wondering, should I even bother with the SGS4G? Or should I look elsewhere at the Sensation or G2X?

Yes. I think you should "bother" with this phone
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
By bother, I mean is it worth it to get, its almost six months old and I know that its not running on much different hardware than the vibrant (which is one reason I'm so attracted to it) but I want a beast, not a puppy when it compares to other phones in good old performance. Haha I realize now that "bother" wasn't quite the right word. I guess the better phrase is, is it worth it to get over the other new powerhouses?

I played with the sensation at the store and I liked it alot but I couldnt tell a whole lot of difference. But hardware wise the sensation has the high ground and it has sense 3.0 which I like alot. I,love my sgs4g but I personally like the sensation more. If only the new sgs4gs had 2.3.4 and tw4.5 or something new then it would be a beast.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
G2x is a solid phone, if it didnt have all the issues it would probably top the sensation. I like the g2x, stock android and very very fast! Sensation is an excellent phone as well, reminded me too much of my nexus one though.
You can't really go wrong with either one (IF you get a good g2x without problems) slim chance it seems to be. Battery life on g2x wasnt great barely 6-8 hours or so, sensation is alittle better though. Galaxy s 4g is nice, no issues running kg4 and probably getting around 2 days plus on one charge.
May want to consider a nexus s as well if you are looking at this phone. Personally I would try to hold off for another month or so, new nexus may roll out, the sgs2 or whatever itll be called? If you must choose now, pick up a cheap galaxy s4g off craigslist.
Sgs4g is great but either the sensation or g2x is def a better choice. Better dev communities and better phones period.. dual core ftw. Hercules is a phone to end all phones though.. why can't u wait??
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Not sure about G2x, but the SG4G is way better than Sensation 4G
Sensation got a good screen, but, the battery life sux. Also the call quality is not good as SG4G. Low ring ton volume is disappointing also. Audio quality (headphone) of SG4G (with voodoo) is 100 times better than Sensation.
Why not just get a phone like the Sensation on the 24th of this month and if the Hercules comes out before your 14 day return period then just swap it out for the Hercules.
But if you live in the wonderful state of California, then you get 30 days to swap it out.
You guys are all looking at software issues. Hardware wise, the other phones are newer...so of course the others will be faster, have more memory, etc. most, if not all, the issues will probably be addressed by the community. I have no complaints about this phone, but do your research on the development of the others.

Hercules has the qualcomm snapdragon dual core, when compared to the exynos on my sgs2, it feels like comparing a core i5 to a pentium dual core. But the screen size is a plus, but it will probably kill the battery really quickly.

Well the reason I can't wait is because I added a line on the 26th and only got the sim. So I have until then to get a new phone at contract price. Or you could just keep the Sensation. The Hercules is not that much of an upgrade anyways, unless you're dying for an AMOLED+ screen.
They have the same processor. Plus, if you're into modding, the Sensation is very close to a full working build of CM7. So you can only imagine how fast that will be. And it's a qHD screen while the Hercules is not.
I think I need to research the qHD screen. It didn't look very impressive to me, but I only used the phone for 2 minutes or so. The thing is, I LOVED the super AMOLED on the vibrant.

I just left the GS4G for the Sensation. The GS4G is ok, but it's middle of the road in terms of specs these days.

Should I trade my G2x for Nexus S?

I've got a couple offers for my G2x trading for a Nexus S
Should i do it?
I need upgrade-ability and customization
I've heard people say the G2x will never get
Loss: Single core, VGA front facing cam, 5MP front cam.
Win: Almost guaranteed upgrade to IceCreamSandwich, Faster Update supportm NFC, Super AMOLED, Curved Glass, Louder Speaker than G2x, more stable
What would you choose?
Do you think the G2x will get ICS? (Cyanogenmod may not be able to make ICS, due to the fact that honeycomb is not open source and Google said that ICS will look like ICS.)

What? Google has confirmed that ICS will be fully open source at I/O 2011 just like Gingerbread, so the CM team will most probably support it. Otherwise, I'd stick with the G2x for the better specs, and the screen IMO is fine. It's only a little bit worse than Super AMOLED.
Glass is not curved.

In my experience the G2x screen is WAY better than any other phone I have ever used at one important thing... it is easy to view in direct sunlight. Better blacks and rich colors are great when you're huddled in the dark, but there are times when I want to go out and see both the world and my cellphone screen at the same time. The G2x is the best I have ever used in this regard.
As for the trade... i'd be tempted, but I'm sort of a path of least resistance kind of guy. I'd probably stick with what I know. I have been burned in the past with phones that have issues that don't show up right away while you are testing with your own SIM, so be careful. (Of course that advice would be even more prudent for the potential G2x recipient to follow!)
In the end I think it's whatever works best for you now, and the G2x has killer support right here in river city. I wouldn't worry too much about future proofyness, the future is seriously uncertain as it is.
I'm going to trade. Samsung tends to be better at making phones. They've made much more than LG. Also, my phones a lil bit knicked up. The one I'm getting is new. As long as the phone I'm getting doesn't lag like my Droid on gingerbread I think I'm fine to take the deal

The only reason I would swap is because it is guaranteed that I will get ICS other than that I wouldn't swap it.
G2x is superior in every other way, and if we happened to get ICS through Cyanogen we will be already superior in every aspect against the Nexus S.
The only reasonable thing for me to do is to get the new Nexus if cyanogen doesn't update our phone to ICS.

Don't compare my phone to a third world piece of junk assult rifle. If the G2x were truly a weapon, it would be something more like a PS90 or a Magpul Masada.
Dont mean to start a flame-war but, I also heard Samsung does better jobs with their RMA/Warranty than LG. It's just what i've heard.
Nexus s owns the g2x not by hardware stats but by shear support, longevity and dedicated updates for issues from Google directly. No carrier or manufacturer issues to deal with. That's a win win.

Put it this way, Nexus S is a prettier Vibrant 4G, without 4G, a SD card slot, and NFC Support. I loved the Vibrant 4G and wanted the Nexus S from my dad. I tested the G2x at T-Mobile, bought it, and don't regret it one bit. Samsung make better devices than LG, but Stock Gingerbread with an amazing launcher(extreamly fast launching) and dual core with an amazing battery, I wont leave G2x. If anything, trade for a Samsung galaxy S 2, from what I heard, best phone ever and looks like it too

I currently own in the house a g2x, nexus s, mytouch 4g, sensation and a firefly for the kiddo...with all the issues from the g2xs ive ran through its almost worth using the firefly....on a serious note the nexus s had a few let downs for what should have been a flagship phone when it arrived, though its been THE most reliable. They could have pushed more features into it. That being said...Ill use the sensation now until the prime arrives. No more screwing with carrier/manufacturer updates F THAT NOISE!
The G2x haters are still hanging around this forum. They must be closet g2x lovers. You have the sensation which is basically eye candy otherwise it really sucks. And I dare one of you to get a better quadrant score on the nexus s with its "single" core than my g2x. I can tell you I got a low 2900 on my g2x compared to a nexus s at 1850. Not even close. The nexus is a nice fone but you can't put it up against a g2x. And as far as the g2x being ugly, you're off again. Its a good looking fone maybe not as good as nexus s but I have a ton of roms that I could put on my fone that would put the nexus to shame.

G2x Vs Nexus S (GSM Version)

I am planning on getting either phone.
Which phone do you think is better and WHY?
Nexus s. Pure Google experience. Get updates much faster, such as Ice Cream Sandwich. G2x seems very problematic from what I have heard. The screen on nexus is better, the only thing going for the g2x is the processor and slightly faster data speeds.

G2x is galaxy S 2 rite?
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I've had the G2x i traded to the Nexus S
They're about equally matched
The G2x doesnt have reboot issues anymore (after update)
at first, when dual-core was bleeding edge, it had some problems
The screen is slightly curved on the edges
1080p video
Dual-core tegra 2 (my Nexus S outscored the tegra 2 in Quadrant Video subsection)
Screen is average
Less plasticy then the Nex
Speaker is not loud at all
LG doesnt give the best tech support
The Nexus S will get updates faster
No Micro SD (16GB built in at high speed)
NFC (Google Wallet+MasterCard/PayPass)
No 720p video
Screen is amazing, pentile may look funny the first 2 days, but i cant even tell the difference anymore..
Curved glass feels nice on your fingers
Minor WiFi reception problems
It all depends on what you want. I traded a used G2x for a new in-box Nexus S. I just love the AMOLED screen, you cant tell where the screen ends, that's how good the contrast ratio is

No, its an LG Optimus G2x.
The Galaxy S 2 is a GS2.
But thanks guys .. still wondering. Its hard when you want a phone thats going to last you a bit.
Heres how I see it:
nexus s: Better battery, better screen, nicer design.
g2x: Better performance, more powerful phone, better build quality.
So here i am trying to get convinced lol.
Wow i have had both phones & j was happy with my g2x after i learned how to root n upgrade to g.b. but the nexus is kind of faster. I think either phone is good but there's more dev & mods on the g2x.
This is because the nexus s everything works out the box.

i used tge G2x and currently now im on Nexus S. These are the reasons i didnt like G2x:
-Battery Life is not as good as Nexus S.
-The LCD is actually really nice and bright, how ever the pixel density and image quality are no where near as good as Nexus S.
-To be really picky, the phone is awkward shaped and proportioned, its too tall for its screen size
+every other reason people have mentioned, HOWEVER i didnt have a single known issue problem with mine

Dude, I did the same thing –bought a G2x and a Nexus S on Craigslist and have been playing with them for about week now. G2X, rooted and ROMed, is fast, stable and a nice looking machine. On the right ROM, the battery can last all day, evening with streaming music, calls and texts, and still be half full. The camera is fargging great, too. There are two complaints I have. One is that the G2x feels a little awkward in my hand, especially compared with the curved Nexus S, which fits perfectly. The G2x is just a millimeter or two too wide for a comfortable grip for me. The other is the ICS situation. I’m sure the G2x devs will get ICS onto the phone via Cyanogen or whatever, but because LG won’t be open with certain drivers it’s uncertain whether ICS will be able to take full advantage of the phone. Oh yeah, and the comment about the sound issue is accurate, too. Although sound clarity is great, the speaker is quiet – if you’re in a crowd or noisy room, it can be a little difficult to hear who you’re talking to.
Basically, you can’t go wrong with either phone. I’ll probably hang on to both until it becomes more clear how the ICS situation plays out and then sell one of them.
Honestly, I dont even care about ICS lol .. I just want an all around better phone.

See that is why ics is so important. The UI will be hardware accelerated giving you the smoothest experience possible. Hardware acceleration on a single core will blow away a software accelerated dual core.

What phone are you guys picking up after the G2x?

I'm thinking about getting a new phone soon... I wanted to pick up the HTC One X but reading about so many faulty devices over on the forums I'm kinda hesitant now. Still wondering whether or not I should make the plunge; on the other hand the 4S looks pretty interesting as well so that's also an option. So does the Xperia Arc S.
I need to get the phone before Julyish since I'm going overseas to study.
I don't see the newer phones (even One X, Galaxy S3) being much better than the G2x already. Sure they have ICS, but all the apps I run are fine on GB. Plus the extra cost to upgrade vs the ~$200 out-of-contract price of G2x on $30/mo plan doesn't justify it.
With all pricing aside, what's in ur opinion the best phone on the market right now?

That is what catches my eyes but in reality, my G2X will do just well for like 4 years more just as my Etched Nexus one does. My G1 is just too slow now.
Sensation rocks because the developer support is unparalleled. But the S3 is fantastic, and if you want a big screen the Note is excellent. And the One X, while it does have a few kinks in terms ram management, its arguably the best phone out there. Tried it in the store and it is unreal fast

Screw the carriers and their neutered phones. Sgs3 is getting a dual core across the board in the US. From now on, I'm only buying direct from Google and the carriers can take their contracts and shove them... if you know what I mean. I'm waiting for the next nexus, which should be available to buy by Thanksgiving.

I was going to get the s3 untill they took the quad core out of it.
I didn't really want to wait for the next big device to come out, so I just got a Galaxy Nexus. I really couldn't be happier. I still have my G2x to test some ROMs on and as to use as a backup phone.

.....Iphone
Look at the post for the s3 in the general section, and then look at the comparison for the new krait CPU that will be in the sgs3, yes it is a bummer that its only a dual core but how much utilization will a quad be used? With the research I've done I'm more then happy with what the stateside sgs3 has to offer just have to decide other things my previous post stated.
And don't worry my mt3g isn't going anywhere like my g1 its safe and sound lol.

I will definitely wait until November for the new Nexus or Nexi, (hopefully the rumors are true and 5 are launched).
Hopefully no knew phones come out at all, that way I don't feel like I'm behind, and I'm very competitive and I always want the best and the greatest.

If I stick with android I won't buy another non Nexus phone. If the manufacture updates the phone any it won't be updated for long and in most cases 3 months later there will be a slightly refreshed version that comes along and goodbye support for the phone you got. I had a Samsung Vibrant well you know that support died when the Galaxy S 4G came out You all know the support on the G2X and I also have a mytouch 4G which is running 2.3.4 just like my G2X which I also don't see it getting updated either to ICS.
As long as I know the phone will have xda support and Dec community support from the manufacturer I'll get it. Like the sensation that thing is fully supported, the HTC Vivid that's on at&t is extremely supported, sh¡+ even the G1 is lol....

I jumped ship to the HTC One S. Besides the pentile screen it can hold its own against the One X, if not beat it at benchmarks and in my opinion just as good as anything Samsung is releasing. I love the overall build quality and feel of the One S and the 16gb storage is more than enough for me. I tried to love my G2x, I was even convinced that it was the best phone out there but the software/hardware issues finally got to me.
