Kernel - T-Mobile LG G2x

I have a few question about the kernel..
Say I flashed a CM7 rom, and than I flashed a custom kernel. Faux kernel.
How do i revert back to stock kernel?

Reflash CM7.

So say I have (Name) rom, and i flashed (name) kernel. I can just reflash any rom and have the stock kernel back right?

If you had a ROM and you decided to flash a custom kernel and didn't want it anymore, just reflash the same ROM.

Flashing

So I've been flashing various roms, kernels, and radios onto my Nexus S since the release. I've never read to deeply into the exact procedure for flashing these items.
I know you are suppose to wipe device, cache, davik, ect. But then are you suppose to flash the rom, reboot the device, and then flash the kernel and radio?
What if you wiped the device and just flashed a rom without a kernel? Does the kernel you have previously take into effect or is it built into the rom?
No, Roms come with a kernel. If you don't flash a kernel you will have whatever kernel the developer uses in his/her Rom.

Wha? Not all ROM's come with kernels... if you flash one that does not have a kernel then you will be left with what you had before (stock).

How best to Upgrade

I'm trying to find out the best way to install a new rom & kernel.
Should you update kernel first then rom? or rom first then kernel?
Always rom first then kernel.

Thanks for the info...
any particular reason why?
Because when you flash a rom it contains a kernel that will erase any kernel you flash before hand. So say your wanting to flash morfics trinity kernel for cm7, you'd want to flash cm7 first then trinity kernel.
With the rom your using.... does your APN work?
I've tried the Power+ Volume UP and still no APN connection. My settings are there an selected but it doesn;t connect.
It should work, faux's rom are second to none imho.
But for right now i couldn't tell you since my baseband is unknown and gonna be sent back to LG.
y doesnt faux have goveners in his kernel...
or does he and i just downloaded the wrong 1 ...im using his kernel and my batterylife is terrible (very heavy fone user)
Its like that for all rom's and kernels for g2x.

Because the default governors of stock kernels are already very good.

[Q] OTA on stock rom and trinity kernel

This is my 1st time on this forum!! be gentle!
I have stock rom and trinity kernel, can i get OTA working?
you won't be able to install it regularly because you changed the kernel, but you can always flash a full 2.3.6 rom through cwm. i'm pretty sure you'll be put back on stock kernel though

You have to flash the kernel again, custom kernels don't carry over. Just reflash the kernel and you'll be fine.

[Q] Custom Kernel

Hi my skyrocket is currently running 4.0.3 ics leaked rom, and I was wondering if i could flash custom kernel on ics rom, or would I have to stock gingerbread to use custom kernel. I just do not want to get bricked etc. Thank you.
It depends on the ROM, if it's SKY ICS or some other modded Samsung rom, then you pretty much have to stick with stock, or do some research because I don't really know what Kernels are available for it. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in...
If it's AOSP based (CM9, AOKP, Chimaira, etc), then the only other option I know of is InstigatorX's kernel, which seems to work quite well. Pick a stable version, since the latest has issues with the camera. The stock kernel for CM9 is also quite good, but the CPU governors added in Instigators are great for saving battery.

You can flash cymbaline. Don't try to flash instigator's cm9 kernal you aren't using an aosp rom. Cymbaline fits your deal nicely. You'll dig it.

I also use this kernel and in conjunction with System Tuner for OC/UV.
