[Q] Wiped Battery Stats Problem - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
A while ago I have deleted my battery stats file and a few days ago I have noticed that looking at the battery usage menu everything is at 0%. So the file never re-created, i guess. How can i fix this? Battery life is not abnormal.
Also, my wifi settings change from "sleep when screen turns off" to "never sleep" without me doing anything. Could this be a widget or app?
I'm running MIUI XJ rom on a HTC Desire.
Thanks.

[POLL] Asus Weather Widget Causing Battery Drain

Ok, so I've been reading a lot about how people are experiencing battery drain on their TF tablet and TF dock. I wasn't experiencing any battery drain overnight until I installed a bunch of apps and played with many settings. So recently, I would see my tablet go from 80% battery to ~60% battery while I slept (around 10 hours of being turned off).
I checked on the Asus Weather widget and it was set to refresh every 4 hours. I turned that off and set it to refresh only manually. Now my battery goes from 91% to 91% (after 10 hours). I've tested this two nights in a row now so I think I've fixed my battery drain issues. Anyone else experience these results?
Other settings I have:
Wi-Fi sleep policy set to turn off when screen turns off.
Does no one have this issue with the Asus Weather Widget? Does no one care about battery drain?
Dear ScubaSteveo
I have such query also, last night 95% before standby with the wifi sleeping, however, when I woke up and checked only left 72% within 9 hours.
So, I untick the Asus weather auto update and changed to manual also.
I will actually switch off the wifi before sleep tonight to test.
I upgraded to 3.2 just two days before, so I don't know much about the wifi problem and battery problem.
But I am quite sure only wifi could cause such battery draining.
It may be not the Asus weather causing the problem, maybe the setting of "screen off with wifi sleeping" actually doesn't sleep the wifi.
I have heard a lot 3.2 with a lot wifi and battery problems...hope Asus finds out and solve the problems.
I still think it's the Asus Weather Widget because as soon as I turned off the refresh setting and changed it to Manual refresh, I stopped seeing the battery drain.
Let me know if you see your battery do better after switching to manual.
I saw a similar improvement when switching from the 4 hr default to manual. I tested it last night and saw 10% drop in dock battery in ~10hrs, where before it was about 2-3% / hour.
B50 tablet and dock, 3.2 stock, battery saving mode test does not work

I now have to agree with you. I've tested the Asus Weather Widget (still on manual refresh) with Wi-Fi sleep policy set to turn off when the screen turns off, and I have around 3% battery drain per hour. Apparently I have had Airplane mode on for a while so WiFi was not activated while I was sleeping.
This is not good.
So why the heck is the Wi-Fi not sleeping when it is supposed to??

Suddenly getting crazy battery drain

Anyone else get stupid fast drain while its sleeping? I have wifi sleep policy set to turn off wifi when screen is off, and using the task manager nothing looks to be running that i havent launched myself. But usually i'd have the battery last DAYS and DAYS if i wasn't using it that much, but the last few charge cycles it's been nearly dead at the end of the day. Is there an app I can get to monitor stuff while its sleeping to see if something is keeping it from deep sleep? I can't remember what i've installed recently that could keep it in wake-lock or whatever. Thanks guys.
There's a build in feature in the settings menu to tell you what uses battery
Check that the wifi is actually sleeping when the screen is off. Tap the power button to wake up the tablet then look at the notification bar in the right hand corner to see if the wifi is turning on and connecting. If its not doing that then I dont think the wifi is disconnecting and turning off when the screen is turned off.
For battery issues, two "must have" tools are "better battery stats" and "cpu spy"
gary's right. download better battery stats here:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.asksven.betterbatterystats
and since the developer of that app loves XDA, there's a free version for us!

Look into the partial wakelock and find the cuplrit!
Battery Drain
Try loading the free util Auto Airplane Mode which has helped fix the SOD issue and the related battery drain during the SOD.
Sorry to push the old post up again.
Recently im suffering from the weird battery drain, i didnt play/use my phone much on sunday , the idle battery drain is huge. like 8 hrs from 100%-40%.
I've installed both betterbatterystats and cpu spy already.
From battstats , it shows that kworker/0:1-3 and kworker/u:12-13 etc using up most of the batt , secondly is the doubletwist music player.
From cpu spy, most of the time is with 200mhz even i didnt use the phone at all, rarely goes to deep sleep mode.
for the process kworker it didnt show whats the process/app is about , anyone else know wt to do now ?
Same problem here :-(
Fully loaded at 7 o'clock and now I'm 34% - this really sucks!

All you can do is to check the apps you recently installed or updated. They might lock you from sleep. No easy way to control this
For me it was the "samsung-keyboard" - I froze it and now everything seems normal.

ICS Wifi stays on while on sleep

Hi guy, my wifi won't turn off when my Xoom is on sleep. I have set the settings of 'keep wifi on during sleep' both to 'NEVER' and 'ONLY WHEN PLUGGED' but nothing happens. Wifi stays on and keeps draining my battery life. I am running rooted with the latest version of nightly 62 and I've been having this issue since 55. I have reinstalled, flashed, factory reset, wiped my Xoom.
Is anyone else having this issue? What should I do?
From my experience, wifi stays on for a little while longer after device sleeps. However, some apps in background may trigger wifi back on again. So I turn off wifi when i go to bed. Actually i notice wifi itself will not drain much battery, 1-2% for 10hr. It's the host apps sucking the juice.
I am not an expert though.
OK i've also checked it out and as you said wifi turns off after some time. My main problem now is that my battery life won't last more than 3-4 hours on wifi.
I have posted my battery stats with use of web browsing and watching pictures on gallery...

What do you mean "no more than 3-4 hours"? In your battery chart, you can get more than that even starting from 75% battery.
What I wanted to say is that I think my battery won't last more than 4 hours with wifi on and some serious usage.. from my stats as I can see I've been using it 5 hours but I only had screen on and browsing the web. I think there will be a huge difference if I am watching a movie or playing a game.. I don't have the time to check it now but I will post my results in some days..
According to my previous battery graph do you see any problem or something less from what your Xoom battery holds? Does this battery drain seems normal to you?

I think you'll find it will stay on for about 15 minutes. There is some setting in a system database (using a sqlite editor) that can be changed to bring this down. I doubt Wifi is what's draining your battery. Are you synching email via activesync or running other stuff in the background?
I am only using my yahoo mail from the EMail app. I don't know if it uses activesync. I have set it to check emails every 30minutes.
wifi not turning off
Edit: I found the wifi sleep option in ICS. Google sure did a great job of hiding it. See attached picture for anyone else having wifi staying on during sleep issues.
So there are three options
Keep WiFi on during sleep
1) Always
2) Only when plugged in
3) Never
What option to set if i want Wifi to turn of after some time of when phone sleeps. Previously i had set the option to 15 minutes but that option is not available in ICS and i m having a hard time understanding how these options work on my sensation.
Can anyone explain what each of these options do ?

My guess:
1) Always: WIFI always on no matter awake or asleep
2) Only when plugged in: WIFI always on only when plugged to power
3) Never: WIFI will be off if asleep (my current setting)
That was it

Thanks, I had not seen the option to turn wifi off during sleep.

Bear in mind that (irritatingly) applications can seemingly change this setting.

For an app to change wifi sleep policy, it needs the WRITE_SETTINGS permission.

More battery use Custom ROM

Hi All,
A few weeks ago I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 20130630 nightly on my Everest Xoom and have been very happy with the Jellybean features and performance.
The one problem I have had though is heavy battery drain. Before on ICS stock I would charge the Xoom and get around a week standby with light use between charges (I only use the Xoom no more than 20minutes a day really). Since installing Cyanogenmod, I cant get more than 2 days standby. I have set WiFi during sleep to never and I have tried charging it fully then not touching it besides a screen unlock for test purposes every day and cant get more than 2 days. Any suggestions how I can get more standby time, or a different ROM more suited to my occasional use?
Thanks!

Have you checked your Battery Settings (In Settings) to see if it is a rogue app(s)? If it is, you can either uninstall that app or use Greenify (http)://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155737 to hibernate it and prevent it from wasting even more battery life. If you can't find anything abnormal in Battery Settings, install Wakelock Detector (http)://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2179651 and check the app the next day. Anything draining the most battery life in standby should be on the top of the list. You can then uninstall that app or Greenify it as I mentioned before. Tip: If you install Greenify, check in the settings if auto-hibernation is turned on and if it isn't turn it on. In the widgets drawer there is a Greenify widget that you can tap to hibernate now if it is on your homescreen, if you want to hibernate apps immediately.
You can also intall SetCpu (http)://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419 to save battery life. Go to the profiles tab, tap add profile, change the profile to Power Off, Max to 456000, Min to 216000, and change the scaling to powersave or conservative if you don't have powersave.

Fast battery drain

When it is I'm deep sleep it only loses 1-2% every 9 hours, but once I turn on the phone it went from 75% 50% in 45 minutes only... Losing nearly 2-3% every few minutes, so I used battery stats to see what is doing the partial wake and there is something called RILJ(dialer), which is 15% partial wake, I was wondering if this is the dialer stock system app. I'm using c2 Viper ville, I never had any battery problems until I played around with Venom tweak which was not working at the time, and did not know about it, however I did reset the tweak I think. I turned off sync, and everything. Anyone know how to fix this huge battery drain, it just went from 45% to 35% in 5 minutes....

I've had the same problem with the One S S4. Here's what you can do:
-You can download a wakelock blocker or use App Opps to fix this issue. Just block the app from waking your device. Now, you said that it may be your stock phone apk, so you should probably test incoming calls after you've done this.
-Keep your screen brightness as low as possible; turn auto brightness off.
-Install a custom ROM.
I recommend installing a custom ROM if you haven't already. Non-sense ROMs have worked the best for me because all sense ROMs have given me huge battery problems.
I hope I helped!
