When rooting and going with a custom rom I lost my notes app that came on the phone. Is there a addon that i can put on that will restore my notes that i backed up on before the switch?
If you made a nandroid you can just take it from there manually.
Though its best you just use something like evernote that syncs to the cloud so you don't have to deal with that in ze futur.
i did back up the nandroid. is there a how to on that i just want to get all my data?
probably somewhere but it'd be easier to restore it then backup your apps with titanium backup so you have it for any rom you flash.
if you don't have it already its free

I replaced all stock apps with custom apps:
Gallery - QuickPic
Video Player - mVideo Player
Audio Player - Folder Player
Calendar - Calendroid
Notes - Color Note
Calculator - Realcalc
Browser - Dolphin Mini
I deleted all the stock apps, and set up two tasks in TiBu to backup all new apps, and all apps with changed data every night. I backup these to dropbox every day or two. This keeps data intact, and also helps eliminate customize each of these apps between ROMs.

Just move the photos videos from S3 to computer first and then use iTuns to sync them to your iPhone. For messages transfer, there is a program called Android SMS to iPhone Transfer can help. Try it.

I did this about a year ago -- no harassment so far. I like the space, but seeing it is not as integrated as DropBox (yet), I use DB a LOT more.

I agree. I've had a free 50gb from Box for a couple of years, but the lack of Sync makes it far less useful. Any use of that space is accomplished manually, which partially defeats the purpose.
Unless I'm missing something - is there a way to get Box files and folders to automatically update, upload, etc.?

I don't think so. You can of course save from a lot of apps on your 700 or other Android to the cloud, and access your files (provided you have some kind of data connection), but automagically... not with the app itself. I saw that an app I have been using for a loooong time with my own FTP server actually supports syncing... <blush>: FolderSync. Will give it a try.
Trial version ("only allows two accounts and has no sync filters or Tasker support" -- enough for testing Box ):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.tacit.android.foldersync.lite
Full version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.tacit.android.foldersync.full
EDIT: confirmed working! I really recommend FolderSync for its versatility and all the options it throws at you. Nice to see it actually works.
It works!! Thank you! I also noticed that Polaris Office can save/edit files on Box no problem.
This is a great offer, no strings from what I've been reading in their TOS and 3rd party reports. Seems they just started the offer and who knows how long they will. They do limit the file size per file though. So to move big files, then you have to pay.
One thing to keep in mind about this deal though, they offer zero warranty and zero guarantees of your data being secure. See item#14 of the TOS. But I guess you can't ask for much when it's free .

Thanks for the link - no, I wasn't aware of this, and it does look promising.
It looks like this would work for my phone, but I'll have to see if there's a Windows desktop equivalent. That's where it would be the most useful. I'm currently using IDrive to backup various files and folders on my desktop, in real time. I was able to get 15gb of free storage there, and it does do full sync, but I'd love to be able to do this with my 50gb of free Box storage. As I said, the main limitation with free Box is that it does not provide a sync function. If there's a way to enable this with a 3rd party application, that would be ideal.

Exactly - that's what I was referring to. Box definitely does do real-time sync, but you need one of their paid accounts for this.
I have mixed feelings about paying for cloud-based storage, and have taken a serious look at CrashPlan, SOS Online Backup, etc., to do a full backup of perhaps 300gb+ of photos and files. But I haven't convinced myself this is either practical, reliable, or necessary. I currently have a backup strategy with 2 duplicate internal hard drives, updated nightly, along with a similarly cloned external HD backed up weekly, and then stored off-site.

how to enable true multitasking in wp7...
as multitasking is the most essential feature of a smart phone.
I have tried the instant resume tweak but it's still useless.
whai I want is the real multitasking as in Symbian.
there is a donotkill app list in wp7 registry but can't get it to work.
so any help regarding multitasking is most welcomed....
If you explain what you need multi tasking it would be easier to help understand why background tasking is inadequate for you.

What exactly do you plan or intend to do? That kind of functionality is available to developers through the Background Transfer APIs. On a Windows Phone, downloading in the background (or uploading) is not very useful for most Apps. Some scenarios where it could be are Apps like Dropbox, Skydrive, Nokia Drive (offline maps and voices downloading), for example.
well you all are not understanding so let me explain using example.
what want----
suppose ucweb is open and I am downloading a 200mb file what ever extension maybe.
when download is started after some time a message comes up power saving while downloading.
and it blocks the lockscreen to come up until download is completes.
but I in meanwhile if I minimize ucweb and open other app or simply lock the screen the download is paused,
this is what I don't want.I want the download to continue even I switch app or lock the screen.
the only app I have seen who's does it is while downloading any app from marketplace...as it continues even I switch to other app or lock the screen
so I explained it in detail.now suggest me any homebrew apps or any process to do that.
I am still pretty sure this can be done. But I do not know of any app that does it simply because there is no need for it.
And even if you did download the file, the only way you can take it out is uploading it to skydrive or some other cloud storage from the app that downloaded it.
And I still see why on earth would you want to download a 200 MB file on a phone.

Exactly, remember that like it happens with iOS in Windows Phone there's no way to store files and retrieve them easily. Every app is encapsulated and cannot access other apps files.
So for example, if you download a 200mb movie it will only be available through the app and not through Zune, and probably only while the app is open.
But hey, sounds interesting. Maybe I'll write one.

why is 200mb to biggg. and please name the app you are taking about. And don't worry about the taking it out by SkyDrive or any other cloud storage as I don't need to upload in order to get files out of wp7.5. I can take files downloaded by any app in my phone with help of PC data cable. i only want the solution of the background downloading.

Hi Guys,
I have been considering it form a long, long time and I have finally decided to go root! (If for you that is nothing new, for me it is!) I believe I have read enough to try it, besides who have learnt only form reading? Now to the question - I have been thinking how would I be able to preserve the user data since it should delete all of it. I know that google automatically backs up my application data, but how reliable is that? What is your experience with the service? Also, I have applications that are form another store and I believe that Google won't back them up. I was thinking about using Helium or the adb backup command. What's your opinion on that?
Thanks

The end result of either of them will be the exact same, as Helium just uses adb backup.
And how about contacts? Should I, at least, rely on Google for that? Or should I do this manually? And since I have pictures attached to my contacts, would they back up, too?

Your Contacts app will also allow you to export contacts (but this exports pictures as really low-res) to your internal storage.
