[Q] Is there ANY WAY to make Inspire 4G to work in European 3G/HSDPA? - HTC Inspire 4G

Yes, I mean ANY WAY, to make this great phone to work on European 3G/HSDPA ..I'm not in Europe, but as you know, most Southeast Asian countries are using European Bands.
FYI, Desire HD is priced way higher than Inspire 4G in the local used market, so this is the source of my, well.. AARRRGGHHH-ness

Simply put no.

ttt
Still no solution to this? I live in Norway and I'm only able to get 2g and I'm not able to send MMS, which is a pain in the ass.
My phone is rooted with both CM7 and the Sensation mod... Is there really nothing I can do?

Problem is different radios. So, answer is no.

That sounds so odd to me tough... Why can't it just be hacked to fit the same frequency as the native radio signal?

Because its a hardware thing. It just doesn't have anything thing to pick up those 3g signals. So :f the hardware is not their no software can change it.

And that's why the Inspire is much cheaper than the DHD in the used market in Europe/SE Asia.

A search would have answered this. Thread closed

[Q] Rooted and Unlocked HTC inspire only EDGE?

Hello everyone,
Im sure someone can confirm what i have found from searching.
That the inspire unlocked will ONLY have edge capabilities due to a hardware limitation?
Reason why I ask, is b.c i just rooted, unlocked, and im only getting Edge.
Can anyone confirm this, or push me in the right direction to making the network be like it should in 4G or H?
Thanks.
You have something wired happening as rooting/unlocking does not limit the phone to edge.
On tmobile in the US or in a country that has different 3g band than at&t.

Nope worked just fine when it was at&t at 4g and H.
I called tmobile and they have also confirmed that the phone unlocked on t-mobile will only be EDGE due to hardware issues.
Im still looking into it...
Thanks for your input.

This is the HTC inspire that was being used on USA at&t, but i unlocked it and rooted, and it works great on t-mobile, just only limited to EDGE.
Thanks.

People in this forum have been saying that the I4G and DHD have the same hardware,so this is confirmation that the date signal receiver in I4G is different than DHD and no radio, software can allow the I4G from receiving 2100 frequency?
Can someone comfirm this?

You are absolutely correct about no being able to change frequencies. If your carrier is T-Mobile, why don't you get the HTC Sensation?

Please search before opening a new thread as this has been talked about a lot. The simple answer is no unless you buy the European version.

Thnkz sorry, I was in a rapid search for an answer. Another solution I can guess is going to other company, and unlocking the phone.
by the way, The european version, how much for it. Thnkz in advance

Not sure but you could look over in the Desire HD Threads as that is the Euro version of this phone. Also unless you get the Autralia version 3G/4G will not work.
You can also get the telus dhd. That will work with 3g aswell

so only hardware change can skip me from the data plan, no software mod can block me from their eye. Thnkz guys

I Would be lying to you if I said there was no SW change that could do this, but XDA doesnt allow it as it is illegal in just about every country and is Not even close to being easy. So in short yes. You will have to use a non ATT phone so the IMEI doesnt show up in their system.

You are right I forgot that the Canada version also works. Sorry man. Australia used to be our only choice for high end devices. Nice to know we have other closer options now
And the Telus version is EXACTLY the same hardware as the Inspire. Works well with an Inspire ROM.

New Radio?

Hi, Mates i was reading a post about radios is there is a new radio?
couse i have 12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19 and i have stock S=ON Gigerbread 2.3.4 im asking this because i think the radio 12.62.60.27_26.13.04.19 have some bugs because it only marc 2G on my cellphone.. and its not the carrier... some info about it? thankyou
There are no bugs in the radio, and definitely not of that kind.
If you're not getting 3G - it can be your carrier, your settings and your phone HW (very unlikely). Radio is out of the question. This is why the general guideline says - leave the radio alone.

so im Fuk either way to put it.. there no problem with the radio whatsoever.
i was reading a post about the GPS Problems comes with that radio versions, i thought that would mess the 3G thing with this..
GPS problems are also unrelated to radio on MT4G, as on most current phones. "Radio" only controls the baseband - cellular operations, the other connectivity devices aren't controlled by it.

My carrier and the 3g network its the same 900 so why in tha... I dont go 3g .... This its making me crazy I bough a phone that has the same network but doesn't go 3g
Is there is a possibility that my phone have some issues with the g2/g3/hdsp thingy?
No, but it's very possible that you didn't read the MT4G specs and don't know that it DOESN'T support 900 MHz band. So you won't get 3G on it, no matter what you try.

Work in Europe?

Hopefully a question with a simple answer. Will an american version of this phone work in europe?
My wife wants an android phone with a physical keyboard and this is one of very few I can find.
Anyone in UK used one?

The phone supports GSM 2G 850/900/1800/1900 Mhz, and 3G HSDPA 1700/2100 Mhz ranges. This means 99% that it should be able to work with your GSM operator, but you'd better ask his tech support.
I use this phone in greece so I guess you will have no problem.

Thanks for all the replies! Looks like it's definitely worth a go
I use mine in England, as I wanted a physical keyboard too. Been using it for 2 years now, and it's all fine including 3G and HDSPA. I don't think it'll work with English 4G, but there's not much of that round by me anyway.
Had to get it SIM-unlocked, but after that it was straightforward. There were a few problems with the stock ROM (like group contacts) that didn't work ('cause I wasn't on T-mobile?), and I had to manually enter the APNs for data to work. These went away when I rooted it, and all subsequent ROMs picked up GiffGaff's APNs automatically.
The keyboard is ok, but don't get your hopes up too high. I say that simply because I presume you've never seen/tried one. It's also a bit of a heavyweight, much heavier than others. But I'd still recommend it, and nobody else you know will have one.

I bought an unlocked and uses it here in Sweden. Works like a charm.

[Q] EU LTE Bands on a NA N5

Hi, I'm going to pick up an American Nexus 5 in 2 weeks which I'm going to use in Germany.
Unfortunately, I just found out that the American N5 does not support LTE Bands 3,7 and 20, which are necessary to get LTE in Europe.
Now my question is, is it possible to enable those needed bands with a custom radio or is this a hardware issue?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, I pretty much don't know anything about that stuff.
Thanks in advance for your help everyone.
Edit: I looked through this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/help/lte-bands-nexus-5-t2502574/
but still couldnt find the answer.

This.
Although they technically have the same radio hardware, the radio unit is "factory programmed" differently. We don't know if it is a physical configuration or a firmware one as there is no documentation about this... Which means even if it is firmware, we wouldn't be able to change it. Essentially, physically changing the Radio hardware which is part of the SoC, which is part of the Motherboard is the only way.

Alright thanks a lot. I guess I'll have to live without LTE for now.
