Please search before opening a new thread as this has been talked about a lot. The simple answer is no unless you buy the European version.

Thnkz sorry, I was in a rapid search for an answer. Another solution I can guess is going to other company, and unlocking the phone.
by the way, The european version, how much for it. Thnkz in advance

Not sure but you could look over in the Desire HD Threads as that is the Euro version of this phone. Also unless you get the Autralia version 3G/4G will not work.
You can also get the telus dhd. That will work with 3g aswell

so only hardware change can skip me from the data plan, no software mod can block me from their eye. Thnkz guys

I Would be lying to you if I said there was no SW change that could do this, but XDA doesnt allow it as it is illegal in just about every country and is Not even close to being easy. So in short yes. You will have to use a non ATT phone so the IMEI doesnt show up in their system.

You are right I forgot that the Canada version also works. Sorry man. Australia used to be our only choice for high end devices. Nice to know we have other closer options now
And the Telus version is EXACTLY the same hardware as the Inspire. Works well with an Inspire ROM.

Could someone make a baseband update to support all 3g bands. I realised the optimus 2x until now has had this. Can someone update the radio to support 850/900/1700/1900/2100 bands so international users can fully enjoy without the data messing up. Uk runs on 2100 but still sometimes my connection times out in data every 5 Minuets.
Not possible.
I wonder this should be a basic question for a ROM developer.
Messing with the baseband is too dangerous and can brick a phone instantly if something's wrong with the programming.
Sorry man, no one's gonna do it.

I have not seen anyone modify a baseband , no source, and i just figured it was locked and couldnt be decompiled since i never saw anyone even attempt it.

It would expand the capabilities of our phone and allow us to truly run any network. It would also make our phone more valuable to be honest.

Does the g2x have the hardware for that? Network capability is based on hardware. Hence why tmobile phones will never get 3g on
At&t, they just don't have the ability to. No amount of software twiddling can change that.
Sent from my T-mobile G2
The phone supposedly supports all bands, just as the O2x according to T-Mobile and the FCC. Shortly after its release we learned T-Mobile locked it down until the AT&T merger goes through.
A carrier in Canada is releasing a version of the G2x. Perhaps it will not have the baselands locked like T-Mobile has it.

Yes, I mean ANY WAY, to make this great phone to work on European 3G/HSDPA ..I'm not in Europe, but as you know, most Southeast Asian countries are using European Bands.
FYI, Desire HD is priced way higher than Inspire 4G in the local used market, so this is the source of my, well.. AARRRGGHHH-ness
Simply put no.
ttt
Still no solution to this? I live in Norway and I'm only able to get 2g and I'm not able to send MMS, which is a pain in the ass.
My phone is rooted with both CM7 and the Sensation mod... Is there really nothing I can do?

That sounds so odd to me tough... Why can't it just be hacked to fit the same frequency as the native radio signal?
Because its a hardware thing. It just doesn't have anything thing to pick up those 3g signals. So :f the hardware is not their no software can change it.

And that's why the Inspire is much cheaper than the DHD in the used market in Europe/SE Asia.

find the rogers APN settings and add them.
Thanks. I had no idea it was that simple. You think tech support would have been able to give me that info when I talked to them. Anyway its now working, thanks a bunch.

you're welcome. The international I ordered from Amazon had instructions for adding the AT&T apn otherwise I would have been hitting the forums too
Assuming XDA made their own tablet and phone that run JB Support Cyanogenmod and CWM / TWRP and are completely open designed with root out of the box, would you buy them?
Also if you say no, why? What if they donated to cancer research or its the only way the site could stay open?
I personally would as CM + CWM / TWRP + JB would be FTW!
I say no, not because I wouldn't support XDA but because Verizon would never let me activate such a device on their network. Open? Rooted? Which carriers would go for that?

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Scott. No way carriers would allow an open and rooted phone go on their network. Although, Republic wireless' phones (I think they have one right now) runs a modified version of CM7 to work on their network, which is a slave to Sprint.
So maybe that would be the future. Eventually.
I, for one, would buy it. Especially if it were built by Samsung or ASUS

Don't use Verizon. Slap a gsm sim in there.
What if XDA made their own network?
Would you buy an XDA phone/tablet then?

What on earth are you talking about? People use unlocked phones on t-mobile and at&t (as well as smaller networks based off them) all the time. There's pretty much nothing to stop you from just plopping a sim card in there and using it.
Perhaps you're confusing "carriers" with "cdma carriers", who do pull the have-to-use-our-fones screw-you-over trick.
Has long has it has the same signal, shouldnt it be able to connect to any network ? I know that there would be no problem with that and i would definitively buy it. 100% sure.

I have a HTC Sensation 4g that i got and repaired and switched over to it from my inspire 4g. My inspire would hit 3g great where i am and beyond it at times. So i thought the Sensation 4g would be the same but so far all it will do is 2g for some reason. Have checked APN, making sure WCDMA preferred is set and nothing still 2g but can take my sim stick back in the inspire and bam 3g and more....Not really sure what is going on here...Have searched alot but have not found any real answers yet and hoping perhaps somebody here might know something...So far i have learned a great deal about the android system from here and hoping there is something that can be done. Really like the sensation so far except for the fact its only got a 2g connection...Thought it could be the sim card but then it would not work in my inspire then, so that is ruled out....also went as far as trying different roms thinking maybe different firmware maybe, but nope nothing so far at all. It is rooted and S-off if that matters. Currently has 3.32 firmware and unlocked. Currently running Revalation. If anymore information is needed let me know.....

Update to 3.33 universal. You can find that on the first post if the help thread. Point 13 I think.
Otherwise, do an Ruu. I would recommend the above, as at the very least, you get the latest radios.
VERIFY MD5 BEFORE FLASHING. Make sure you have 70% or more battery. A wrong flash of 3.33 will get you a hard brick, but don't worry as long as you take above precautions.
Happy to help.

check the antenna which is responsible for network
lift them up gently if it is necessary
Alright will do that as soon as I get home from work and will post update. I just remembered something, this originally a T-Mobile phone but is unlocked to use on any network. Not sure if that is useful or not but more info the better to help resolve the problem

Just out of curiosity...is there something perhaps in the buildprop possibly that I might be able to edit or something to make it see the 3g network... just thinking out loud... haven't touched anything in there yet.... just trying to figure something out.... really like this phone but not much use to me without data....

No, I dont have another carrier sim card...Have had net10 for several years and not anything different. Can put my sim card though in my inspire and 4g works fine so i am to believe it is not anything to do with the sim card itself. Have also put the same sim card in my ZTE 990 as well and 4g works too. I thought about buying a different plan on a different carrier to get a different sim but that could be in vain....

I have tried just about everything i can think of and for the life of me cannot figure out why this thing is stuck in 2g mode. I have ordered a new back panel for it and maybe that will help but im reluctant to think it will considering wifi and the 2g signal it does get is full bars.Unfortunately most of everyone i know is on the same service out here that i am so no way of trying a different carriers sim card.....Short of that being tried I can't think of anything to try....I am open for any ideas at this point.....

Unfortunately buying and activating a sim card from another network just to see if it was gonna work was something i did not have money for...I have spoke with HTC and confirmed what i wrote in the other post about this being a T-Mobile phone and specific to certain bands...and unless the network i use has that specific band it will never work for 3g. Unless there is a way to reprogram the radio frequencies it is a limitation all T-mobile sensations have sadly....but I have found another company that runs on the bands this phone needs to run so will be switching to the new company next month.
