Greetings

Unless you flashed CWM recovery before you powered on and held the volume down, all you did was factory restore your phone.

please follow this one:
http://theunlockr.com/2011/05/03/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-t-mobile-g2x/
after clearing all the data, you NEED to "install zip from sd card" and then select the zip of CM7. Clockwork doesn't to it by itself

I believe u didn't install clockwork mod correctly. If you pressed. Power with volume down on stock recovery, it resets everything.
Make sure you nvflash correctly to get clockwork. Good luck

Clockwork Mod ROM Manager Won't reboot\flash ROMs

I just installed the ATT stock ROM rooted, and when I now go into CWM Rom Manager, and try to reboot into recovery, or flash a rom from SD card, it says I need to reboot, then says press ok to reboot, I press ok and it just does nothing. Why isn't it rebooting?
Are you actually getting into CWM? Or is it just prompting you at the HTC bootloader screen to reboot? How did you flash the stock rooted rom?

I get into CWM just fine.
I go into CWM and press install ROM from SD, and select the ROM, then it says i need to reboot to install, I press OK, and then it just goes back to the CWM list of options, so I try "Reboot into recovery" and it just does nothing, as if I hadn't pressed anything, no reboot, nada.
I had this issue before with the ATT rooted ROM... not sure what's going on.
Actually I think I misread your post. Are you even getting out of Rom manager? I always boot into recovery by holding the volume down and pressing the power button from an off state. Rom manager is kind of quirky.

would be nice to have a simple way to boot into recovery tho.
ADB
ADB reboot recovery
Hold down volume and press power from an off state. Scroll down to recovery and hit the power button.

I just restart the phone & wait one sec then use the above method or use CWM.

Coredroid you can press the power button reboot and select recovery.
Both methods mentioned above work.
You can also install quickboot from the market. You can run it, or create a widget to boot directly into recovery.

[Q] Can't replace 3e Recovery?

I've followed the instructions and the videos...I cannot get my Infuse to allow me to install a new ROM. I had a Captivate previously and flashed frequently. Tried to resist rooting & flashing but finally ran out of patience waiting for AT&T.
So I have root. I've copied the recovery file from the SDCard to the /system/bin...made sure the permissions were all copied from the original recovery. I reboot into recovery and re-install packages.
I then downloaded ROMManager and installed. Reboot into Recovery (3e) and re-install packages which then brings me to the green font CWM. If I choose to install zip from SD I don't specifically see any errors on the screen, but I end up getting brought back to 3e reboot...which never goes anywhere.
I haven't been able to find much help on this searching...I can't be the only one having this issue.
Flash community kernel through Odin and you'll have fully working recovery...flash...wait til it starts to boot....pull battery...replace batt ...hold vol up, vol down and power til Samsung logo appears and let go and it will boot into red CWM then your good to flash away

Cyanogenmod 9

When I installed it on my phone, it will not load the ICS rom, it is stuck on the LG logo. I tried to put it back into recovery mode. It will not do that either. I think my phone is bricked. What should I do?
I can really use some help please.
Get the g2x scrubber. Just go to the Phoenix blood thread under development. You will find the download on the first page. Download it, then go into recovery and install the scrubber like you would a rom. It will wipe all your data. Make sure you have a nandroid backup. It won't get wiped if you use the scrubber. Wipe dalvik and cache. Then install the rom.

I can't do anything to my phone. It is sstuck on Android System Recovery <3e>. I can move around but I cannot select anything. I am trying to select with the power button, but it is showing "formatting data ..., formating cache ..., formating misc ..." I am really stuck.
Pull the battery out. Plug it into the wall. Hold power and volume down at the same time while the battery is out.

If that doesn't work try holding power and volume down WHILE plugging it into the wall. Remember the battery is removed for all of these steps

Hi, have a look at the thread below, might help.

The screen is flashing, and switched off. I put the battery in, and then I ended up taking it out once in recovery. Idk what to do. I totally messed up this phone.
How can I do that if my phone keeps flashing when I hold down the buttons?
Did you try plugging the USB in while holding the buttons?

Are you booting into clock work mod recovery from phone being off? Cause the list you said you tried to select does not seem like the first set of options you would normally see when booting into recovery to flash any roms. How did you flash ics? Just curious and I would glad to help

When I boot the phone, I try to put it into recovery mode. I get a screen with it trying to format some stuff. Then it let's me select stuff in 3E Android recovery, but it won't let me select an option. If I try to boot it up normally, the screen is frozen on LG with an ICS theme. I just put the file on my SD card, ran a reboot, created a backup, and just went to load a file off the SD, and I manually selected ICS cyanogenmod 9. Plugging it in the wall fails because the phone flashes on and off.
How did you flash CWM onto your phone? Did you do it through Rom Manager or by using NVFlash.
Rom Manager doesn't really flash CWM, it "fake-flashes" CWM.
You have to use NVFlash to put CWM on your phone. Go to the thread mentioned by Philippp, and follow the instructions.
I tried the Rom Manager flash when I first got my G2x and ran into the same thing.
Good Luck!

Oh, I used rom manager. I just need to get instructions how to get NVflasher because it gives me issues when I download it. Either it is for 32 bit or gives me a command prompt. I tried it and that didn't show a link.
Let me find you the right thread to get started... first you have to root n install a custom recovery before you can install custom roms

I already rooted the phone. I had a custom rom installed, but I chose to use a different one for ICS.
Win Rar is not helping with the RAR file since the APX file has nothing in it. I need NVflasher.

Did you just say you installed CWM Recovery with ROM manager?
Did you try
Push and hold Vol down plus power button til you see words at top left corner
Immediately push Vol up within about 5 sec to get into recovery.
or you could use "Transformer reboot to recovery" app from market.
If you don't see CWM recovery do you see stock recovery?

For the love of GOD, if you used ROM Manager to flash CWM, you most likely have version 5.5.0.4... DO NOT USE IT!!!!
Refer to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530337
Use Recovery Installer found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
That will install a usable version of CWM and save you a LOT of hassle.
Thanks for the help guys. Ill hit the thanks button on both of y'all since I used both . Worked perfect

Reason I asked was a lot of peoples have problems with CWM after flashing through ROM Manager. If it's working for you that's good.
No it didn't I ended up flashing the one that the other guy posted the installer for and it worked

[Q] ICS Recovery Menu not working ,,,

I installed ICM on my Infuse but the Recovery Menu is not working.
All that is displayed is ...
GALAXY S
cyanogen (mod)
... and nothing else happens.
I had to remove the battery to get the phone to work again.
I tried to enter Recovery by selecting Reboot Recovery from the power button menu and also tried
holding down both Volume Up/Down and the Power buttons but they only
resulted in the GALAXY S screen.
Any advice?
Thanks
Carl
Not even using ROM MANAGER will get me to the Recovery Menu.
ROM MANAGER reports that my CWM is v2.5.1
Is there a security setting that prevents one from going to the Recovery Menu??
Did the key press sequence change from pressing both VOLUME UP/DOWN and then POWER?
Baffled.
Carl
that happens because you have to flash twice the ics rom, before opening new threads you should read the instructions.

I thought I had flashed the ICS rom twice.
I followed these instructions:
Coming from Gingerbread (double flash):
1) download rom
2) reboot to recovery
3) wipe data/factory rest, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache
4) flash rom
5) reboot
6) will get stuck at samsung logo or something
7) simutaniously hold power button, volume down, volume up until your phone reboots and you see the samsung logo - as soon as you see the samsung logo let go of buttons (but not your phone lol)
8) mount system
9) re-flash rom with no wipes
10) reboot and enjoy
Was a little confused about "8) mount system" -- should it have been mounted or unmounted?
Anyway to get CWM installed now?

I thought I followed the video and instrutions just like shown.
Anyway, to reflash I don't have a Recovery Menu. So, do I set the phone
to Download Mode and use Odin?
If so, in Odin do I use the PDA button to select the ICS Rom?
Thanks

Took your advice and started all over.
Was able to get "BeanStalk" Jelly Bean OS installed on my Samsung Infuse.
I went back to installing Gingerbread using PIT, PDA, and PHONE files using ODIN3.
Then installed Gingerbread with CWM using ODIN3.
Followed Video carefully and got ICS installed with a working CWM recovery menu.
Found the "BeanStalk" version of JellyBean and got it installed.
Had some trouble with the Launchers (Holo, Nova, and Trebuchet). They continually
crashed with "Unfortunately, xxx Launcher has stopped".
Every action caused this Launcher to crash.
Somehow I got it to go away.
Thanks much for you assistance.
Been a real learning experience delving into this technology and its arcane terminology.
Still, a rewarding effort.
Thanks again,
Carl
