Clockwork Mod ROM Manager Won't reboot\flash ROMs - HTC Inspire 4G

I just installed the ATT stock ROM rooted, and when I now go into CWM Rom Manager, and try to reboot into recovery, or flash a rom from SD card, it says I need to reboot, then says press ok to reboot, I press ok and it just does nothing. Why isn't it rebooting?

Are you actually getting into CWM? Or is it just prompting you at the HTC bootloader screen to reboot? How did you flash the stock rooted rom?

I get into CWM just fine.
I go into CWM and press install ROM from SD, and select the ROM, then it says i need to reboot to install, I press OK, and then it just goes back to the CWM list of options, so I try "Reboot into recovery" and it just does nothing, as if I hadn't pressed anything, no reboot, nada.
I had this issue before with the ATT rooted ROM... not sure what's going on.

Actually I think I misread your post. Are you even getting out of Rom manager? I always boot into recovery by holding the volume down and pressing the power button from an off state. Rom manager is kind of quirky.

would be nice to have a simple way to boot into recovery tho.

ADB
ADB reboot recovery

Hold down volume and press power from an off state. Scroll down to recovery and hit the power button.

I just restart the phone & wait one sec then use the above method or use CWM.

Coredroid you can press the power button reboot and select recovery.
Both methods mentioned above work.

You can also install quickboot from the market. You can run it, or create a widget to boot directly into recovery.

Question are you on a custom rom?
If so go to settings privacy and factory data reset it won't delete anything as you have cwm and not the original recovery.. It will take you directly into your cwm..

[Q] Vol Up & Power Button Problem

When holding this combination on booting it used to load EXT4 Recovery but now it doesnt, the phone just boots as normal, anyway to fix this ? :good:
hm, first time i know this...Did you disable fastboot?
Yep thats disabled, even from a battery pull it doesnt do it, very confusing
Just tried reflashing the recovery image, no luck, still doesnt boot into it, I have to hold down volume down & power then choose recovery. Only way it works (or via Phone menu choosing reboot - recovery)
Do you have a custom rom running? If so sometimes developers leave an option to reboot into recovery whit holding the power button and choose reboot > recovery..
Either way try to install cwm and try rebooting into that if it works let me know..
Swyped From My Sensation.
Im using PkMn Charmeleon 5.1, maybe it was disabled then? but there is the option of power button and choose reboot > recovery
Usually if you remove the battery and place it back then volume down and power you will then boot to recovery. At first itooks like regular recovery but once you press recovery it will send you to 4ext. I've had to access my recovery this way when I've been in a bind. It works. No worries you do this and it will.boot you to recovery menu. Use the volume keys to scroll down to recovery and the power key to accept then it will send you to 4 ext. Hope this helps! You can always do this in a pinch too if your stuck and some Rom is not behaving correctly or your in trouble.
This is the times I boot this way. I'm certain it will work for you. Best of luck!

Yeah going through the bootloader is the only option I have other than actually booting into the rom first , just odd it doesn't work when holding volume up and power, never mind. Thanks guys.

[Q] How to remove CWM

I've looked through the searches but I couldnt really find the answer.
I've rooted and unlocked my HOX but I can't boot into bootloader through volume donw + power.
I have CleanROM 4.0 flashed and the 4.1 version just came out. It says to use TWRP so I will.
How do I go about removing CWM that I installed through the one-click tutorial?
I want to put TWRP after that.
Thanks a lot XDA.

Make sure fastboot I the power settings is u checked then you can boot into bootloader with the button combo. And the easiest way to install twrp would be to use Goo Manager from the market, it will install it for you.

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it.
I still can't boot into bootloader with both fastboot checked and unchecked. However I did install TWRP through Goomanager. By doing that does it mean CWM is gone?
It freaks my out that I can't use my H-boot. :crying:

You can use your bootloader, you need to make sure fastboot is unchecked, and when you hold power + vol down make sure you let go of power and keep vol down til in bootloader, and yes cwn is gone you can only have one recovery.
Just keep trying you will get it.

Assuming you still have CleanROM installed... try this:
1. Boot into the Android OS as usual
2. Press and hold the power key; this will bring up the "Phone Options" dialog
3. Select "Restart"; this will bring up a second "Phone Options" dialog
4. Choose "Recovery"
The phone will reboot into recovery. No need to press and hold volume down or anything like that. See attached screenshots.

I was just going to say, use the Advanced Power Menu way, which is what I do almost every time to get into Recovery.
If you do the power+vol down way, make sure the phone is fully powered off (with fast boot unchecked in power settings). Hold down vol down, then depress the power button for a few seconds, release power, but keep holding vol down until you get into Hboot.
Might just be (hopefully) pilot error. If neither method works, you have some other issue.

(Q) Stuck at google logo, won't power off

I was flashing a new ROM and I got stuck at the google logo upon bootup. I tried holding power button to power it off. It does, then turns right back on.

press both power + volume down until it boots on bootloader. then choose recovery, press power and do necessary steps to flash a new rom
You need to restore your cwm or twrp backup in this case...
You phone's not restarting properly coz the custom myt have been missing a file or you might have forgotten to clear the data, caches and delvik cache before installing the custom rom zip file...
As of now...i recommend you restore your backup first

In TWRP, I wiped everything but internal storage. I thought it was a norm coming from a S4 but I don't think I should have done that now. I have the factory image downloaded. Just trying to get into fastboot mode.
I got into fastboot mode. the mistake I was making was that I was stop holding the buttons once the phone powered off.
Yeah...this boot stuck thing happend to me too...during custom rom installation...

If you long press the power button to force a reboot as soon as the screen goes off hold down the volume down button and it will put you into the bootloader screen, Getting to recovery from there is a piece of cake. Holding the volume down button at the beginning of a reboot (when screen is off) to get to the bootloader and/or recovery screen has worked on every device I've tried it on. Just one more way.
