I am wondering if anyone knows if and when ICS is on our phones will the on screen button have an option to disable them? We already have the menu buttons on our phones.

Phones with hardware buttons will have the on-screen buttons disabled.
The only thing *I* am interested in knowing about that, is the new multitasking button - if that will be mapped to a hardware button.
i bet the multi task button will be the same as holding home
I hope so because the ICS launcher doesn't seem to have a feature to disable it.

The "ICS Launcher" app that's on the market has ZERO actual ICS code in it, so I wouldn't make any judgments on ICS based on that.

Hi,

I dont want any "quick" widgets on my lock screen.. i like it plain!

You can change them, but not get rid of them
as phoenx said, you can get rid of them. To change them go to where you change the lockscreen & when you select one you can press any of the 4 icons & it'll give you a list so you can change them to whatever app you want them as

Yup, thanks guys, I know I can change them and finally gave up on deleting them at 2AM and went to sleep.. hahahaha
I don't get what you mean by widgets in the lock screen. The lock screen being *swipe finger sensor* or slide to unlock?
EDIT: ohhhh... this is sense not motoblur... xda app does not distinguish forums very well. Sorry bout that

Yeah I've never had htc sense. I don't know how I originally posted in the sensation board... coming from motoblur.

I too, would like to delete the homescreen widgets. The mail, calendar, contacts, etcc.. (the ones you swipe your finger to access.)
Can anyone lead me as to how to do this? Thanks!
You could try installing Widget Locker ($2.99 in the Market). It's a lockscreen replacement that allows you to fully customize your lockscreen...including removing all shortcuts!
If you turn off HTC Gestures, you will get 10 point touch.
Otherwise its just 2.

Forget the noob questions:
1) What would be gained from 10 point touch (i.e. benefits)?
2) What does HTC gestures actually do for us?
1. Some apps require more points. i.e. a guitar app forming a chord.
2. htc gestures is only for the 3 finger swipe up for "Media Link HD" which is for wireless screen mirroring.

Nice one (I was wondering wth htc gestures were). When I first saw it I was hoping it meant for things like lockscreen gestures, etc.
We really need a sticky for tips, etc for things like this. I know we have limitations without root but I bet there are still quite a few little tips/tweaks that would be helpful.
Nice tip. I was wondering why some gaming was failing. Downloaded xmen from amazon app store yesterday and the joystick kept screwing up while i pressed the other keys.
I was having a problem where my phone would go to Media Link while I was on calls (guess my face was rubbing it and kicking off the gesture). Turned the gesture thing off and no longer have that problem.
**** yeah!
Quick question: I'm trying to play shadow gun but every time I let go of a second touch it stops holding the first touch. Is there any way to fix this? It makes the higher end FPS games unplayable.

I'm using CleanROM DE.
So we won't be able to use AOSP based roms without issues then?

Once we get source they can fix that on aosp roms.

Swyped from my eVo
So, I was recently reading about how the One will (at some point) be able to be hacked so that the HTC logo can be used as a button. Somewhere around page 4 in the thread, an EVO 4G LTE owner mentioned that there was a ROM for their phone where someone created two "phantom buttons" between the 3 buttons. This was possible (for those who don't know) because the entire bottom portion of the bezel is touch sensitive. This can be seen by dragging the ring on the the lockscreen of Sense ROMs of the screen and still being able to control it. Also, I'm assuming, sweep2wake is made using this same principle.
So my point is, do any developers have any ideas if it would be possible to create these so called "phantom buttons" for our phones? I'm not a dev so I can't help accomplish this, but it's an interesting idea Imo that I felt I'd put out there.
I thought months ago when beastmode kernel was still being worked on by sbryan that he implemented something like that. I can't remember what happened or if I'm just completely wrong.
I've heard talks about it but with regards to sweep to wake widths.

Should be possible, just part of the digitizer.
Sent from the HOXL dimension of S-OFF
In my phone too the panel below the screen is touch sensitive
Sent from my rooted A52 with xzoom 3.0 rom
Start from the beginning of the cm10 thread. (Not 10.1)
This was used before it was official and the remap of the app switch key was implemented. Basically it was like an x y coordinate on the digitizer, that the phone was told there was a button there.
+1 I love this idea but what would you use the extra buttons for?

You could use one as a menu button and use the multitasking button as... A multitasking button. Also, a dedicated camera or Google Now button.
I would make a xda button, or perhaps male it start playing terminator 2 from when I left off.
Sent from my HTC One XL
A dedicated camera button would be nice.
Menu and search. I really miss the search button, believe it or not..
This post was created and transmitted completely in analog.
Yes, its possible and quite easy to add. vmagro (vinvinvinster) did something like this when he was doing CM9 back in the first few months of AOSP since at that point a button remap was not yet decided.
Thing is though, that it modifies the ROM's frameworks so it probably won't make it into any official builds. ever. And even if it was added, it could only act as either:
HOME
MENU
BACK
SEARCH
APPSWITCH
I believe that is it. I guess a MENU and SEARCH buttons could be made between the buttons if desired, but again, it would probably just lead to much more user confusion and stuff. Not sure if its worth it.
Hi, I'm about to buy one D838 but i want to know how the Soft keys behave? Are they always on or there is an option in which app to be hidden, as it is on G3? I really hate Soft keys which are always on, its total lost of estate... For example how do they behave in chrome?

Not yet on Pro 2!
On Pro 2, it is very much dependence on the 3rd party apps! Some apps and games have been updated to hide the softkeys bar, aka OSB bar when in use.
Pro 2 owners just have to wait until the next UI update to be able to behaves likes on G3.
However, all stock apps are fine! They auto-hide the OSB bar!
As for Chrome, the OSB bar is always there but it is not an issue at all for browser!
Having said that, Pro 2 is still an awesome phone for its super big screen and stability of its OS and UI.
I would suggest that you get the Pro 2 instead of G3 at the moment, and wait for LG to update the UIs which can be happening very soon!
Is there any indications LG will update the UI? Usually the big companies dont port newest UI to older phones.... So how OSB behave in Chrome? I'm spending 80% of my time on the phone in Chrome and I really dont like the soft buttons to be there.

If you are really particular about the OSB bar in Chrome and can't wait for UI updates from LG , then you shall pass Pro 2.
What a waste indeed to miss such awesome phone just because of the OSB bar in Chrome.

Yep but 5.9" phones is turning in 5.5" inches phone if OSB is most of the times on. I remember when i moved from Galaxy S2 to Gaalxy nexus basically my new 4.65" screen was smaller then my old 4.3" screen jsut because of the OSB... Anyway are there any info on UI update, I dont remember a single LG which got master UI update after its initial release? Or maybe some xplode mode which can force immerse mode on some apps?

On the 6.0 update?
For me...
1. Faster fingerprint reader/unlock animation
2. New keyboard layout
3. Finally having an option to switch to pin code for alternative option if fingerprint isnt working
4. Adjustments on touchwiz
5. Google now on tap
6. New emojis
7.Faster phone ?? (hopefully)
Is speed an issue? My Note5 is smooth and quick. *shrug* Now on Tap is actually pretty cool. I don't use a protective lock screen so I don't know about that. I'd like to be able to activate Samsung Pay with a swipe up from the S-View window, but that won't happen.

Speed is definitely not an issue lol, but there are somethings that need a speed improvement.. such as the fingerprint reader. I just hope i dont see any lag. Im assuming you use Find my mobile? if you dont use a protective lock screen. And i dont use samsung pay or NFC payment for that matter, but i understand your struggle haha.
I could root my device, but i choose not to. Reason being is it will possibly lose value once Knox has been tripped.

I do use Find my Mobile but I also use this https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rickclephas.fingersecurity to lock certain apps. It only locks those apps when I am not connected to my WiFi or my cars Bluetooth. Maybe with the new fingerprint API I'll lock the whole phone up.
I also noticed when watching marshmallow beta for s6/s6 edge is that the capacitive buttons dont light up when touching the screen... which is a smart move from samsung. It saves battery and it makes sense. It only lights up when pressing them or when pressing the home button.

Actually it makes no sense, whatsoever. The entire point of the capacitive buttons lighting up when you touch the screen is so you can see them in the dark in order to press them.. lighting up when you touch them makes zero sense, why would I need them to do THAT?

They didn't light up because it was a Beta and the rooted kernel broke it even more on some devices, but made them work better on other devices. There's also mods you can use to just turn them off if you don't like them. Xposed. Or just go into the settings!!!
Also, just because you don't like them being on, doesn't mean that they are pointless. Tests have also been done to see just how much battery life is affected by Capacitive buttons and you can't even tell how much they use.
By the way, a lot of people like myself, work in dark places and have to use our phones. Think about that for a minute.:good:
The only thing I'm looking forward to is a phone that doesn't get an update and have it cause the phone to be worse than before. Right now my stock Note 5 works just fine.
