Data not working after multiple flashes - T-Mobile LG G2x

Well to be specific I was running Weapon g2x 3r1 everything was fine then flashed miui 11.18.11 then couldn't get data to work on that ( did hard reboot, factory wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, pulling the battery nothing ). So I said ok back to weapon..data doesnt work, flashed axura data doesn't work, flashed xboarders tweaked OTA..nothing. Making calls is fine but data just isn't working. Any suggestions?

What worked for me.
1. Go to the market and download this app called "APNs Backup (root)"
2. Open app, tap "Backup APNs", name it whatever
3. Then tap "Restore APNS"
4. Tap your save file. It should say rebooting.
5. When it turns back on, give it a second and make sure your data in network settings is checked along with 3G.
6. Tell us how it goes.
7. Good luck.

Should of tried that, I ended up using nvflash back to stock, that got it to work, then flashed Axura =] all good now. Thanks for the help .

I think I had a similar problem with my data. After I flashed weapon 3.0 I wasn't able to use the internet or apps that required data connection. Only worked while I was on wifi. I also received an error msg while I do a search for networks. Is there some way to fix this?

[Workaround] Market "My Apps" for Gingerbread

I understand that this is not really a dev post, but I am hoping it will help the devs figure out a permanent fix. If this is found to be in the wrong forum, please relocate to the correct area and I apologize in advance.
This is tested on Vegan Ginger Edition Experimental
Prerequisites:
-If you do not have Titanium Backup installed, install it now.
-If you do not have a clockwork backup, back up now.
Process:
1. Go into Titanium backup.
2. Go into backup/restore tab.
3. Touch "Click to Edit Filter", filter for "Market" and apply
4. Select Market
5. Press Wipe Data
6. Find Market Updater
7. Touch it.
8. Select Freeze.
9. Clear Data.
Edit: 9a. Select Defrost. (Bigwewe mentions this step in post #2)
10. Touch "Click to Edit Filter", clear, apply
11. Exit Titanium Backup
12. Start Market
13. Accept License
14. Touch My Apps
This is not a perm fix, you will have to run the following steps every time you reboot.
1. Go into Titanium backup.
2. Go into backup/restore tab.
3. Touch "Click to Edit Filter", filter for "Market" and apply
4. Select Market
5. Press Wipe Data
I have been running for a good bit of time tonight after doing this without losing My Apps unless I reboot.
Edit:
This morning the market came up, but I could not access all my apps even though they show in the list. Running steps 1-5 may have to be run more frequently. I also added a step 9A that can be tried.
Thanks to jmbach for input as well.
You forgot to add another step after step #9, which is to unfreeze the market updater. Didn't work for me the 1st time until I went to do the whole process again and notice market updater was still frozen. Other then that. It works like a charm! Thanks!
right now I am playing with pixel density to see if it might be a fix on gtablet like it is on nook.
Just tried it out on the newest vegantab ginger edition, worked without "defrosting" for me, the "freeze" option never changed so I just went on without it with no problems.
I don't know if this is something I have done but it happened to me and I just wanted to see what you guys think/say:
When "freezing" an app it states that that option is only available in the paid TB app? At least that is what I have run into. (another reason to buy the pay version of TB I guess)

CM7 APN problem FIXED!!! (hopefully)

Hey guys, I've tried everything to get the cm7 APN problem fixed. No data connection sucks. Anyways, this is what I did-
1. Turn on WiFi and make sure you're connected.
2. Go into the Market, search "APN Backup".
3. Download the program called "APNsBU (ROOT)"
4. Open the program and click on the "Backup APNs" button.
5. After that's done, click on the "Restore APNs" button. It will prompt you to reboot your phone.
6. After the reboot, open the APNsBU program, click on the menu button on your phone and click "View APNs".
7. You should be able to see "Simple" and "T-Mobile US." Turn off your WiFi and you should be good to go!
This worked for me.
Doesn't look like it worked for me.
Thanks!! Worked for me I was getting super frustrated.
This worked for me as well, with the CyanogenMod-7-061420111 Nightly build. Thanks!
Hi, I had the same problem last night after I installed CM7. The APN disappeared and I could not connect through my data plan. What I did was I just pulled the battery out and put it back in and re-boot the phone. I just pulled the battery out when the phone was still on. I went back in APN and voila, I saw "Simple" and "T-Mobile US" again. After that I did a few more re-boot to my phone due to I flashed new Gapps, the APN problem didn't come back.
Great G2x APN CM7 Fix
Yes, this worked for me!! Thanks a lot for allyour help
I can't say that I've tried this, but every time my APNs go missing, going into ROM Manager and running Fix Permissions and then rebooting makes them come back. Maybe that trick will work for others too.
Hard reboot does the trick for me. Every time. Vol up + power.
Tried:
Hard Reset and battery pull, No success
APN backup trick, can't see any APNs
Rom Manager fix permissions.
Nothing works, APNs are gone for good, no data connection and can't add an APN, blank screen nothing happens.
:O Searched everyone on google and these forums i can't seem to find a fix :O
EDIT:
Had to wipe everything, reinstall latest nightly cm7, which worked but when i restored everything with titantium backup the problem came back so must have been some settings that were wrong. Only restored the apps i trusted with data, and everything is good now. What a pain

its a known issue in ALL android 4.0.4 ROM's across ALL Phones.
Its a bug somewhere in google's code that is causing the apn loss and data drops in all ICS Roms.

i-717 Modem vs i-727

I recently downloaded the modem for the Note to my Skyrocket. I have noticed an increase of 2/3 bars on a regular basis. I am on SeanZ ICS ROM A-7 and using this http://cl.ly/FpCO modem. I recommend it to anyone looking for a better reception and that is tired of having 1-2 bars where you should have 3-5.
Info is widely available already, but many people are having issues with that modem, hardware related, but when it does work, it works great.
None the less thanks for the info
This was pretty disastrous for me, my ROM did not like new modem flashed after ROM install. Had to got back to previous radio.
Everything started force closing on me

do this and it will work perfectly:
B) Modem issues
So I installed the new UCLC5 modem and now I even get LTE on FULL Bars, it's great and works perfect, but here is how to do it right
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROM MANAGER FIRST
1) Download it from here http://cl.ly/FpCO, safe it on Ext. SD Card
2) Reboot to Recovery
3) Clear Cache
4) Advansed/Clear D. Cache
5) Flash the Modem
6) Reboot, it will take few minutes, LET IT SIT FOR 5 MIN, DONT DO ANYTHING!!!
7) Now go straight to ROM Manager, do not open any apps or anything.
Now it will most likely it something will freeze and you will get a stop working messege, but just be pacient and wait and keep clicking ok, while making your way to ROM Manager
8) Fix Permission in ROM Manager ( it will happen, even if some app or process freezes in the middle of it, just keep cliking ok for the error messege and let permissions finish.
9) Reboot to Recovery right after permissions is finished.
10) in Recovery go to Advanced/Fix Permission (it may take a minute)
11) Reboot System, it should be normal reboot, just let it sit for a minute
12) now go to dialer and press *#2263#
13) Choose LTE/LTE ALL/click on whatever the number is
14) go back to dialer nd press *#2263# again
15) Choose 1 Auto/Auto/1
give it 10 sec, and ther you go perfectly working modem!

Fix for NFC and GPS in CM10 or any JB ROM

So, this may sound stupid, but it actually works...
To turn on NFC in any JB ROM:
1. Make a Backup
2. Install any ICS ROM.
3. Turn NFC on within the ICS ROM.
4. Restore back to JB and NFC will be turned on.
To fix GPS (Navigation just says "searching for GPS").
NOTE: I Have only tried this doing a wipe, and installing ROM clean. It may work doing a restore, it may not.
1. Make a Backup
2. Install any ICS ROM.
3. In location settings, make sure Verizon Location Services is unchecked and everything else is checked.
4. Open Google Navigation and let it go until it starts giving you directions and locks on to GPS.
5. Factory Reset
6. Wipe Cache and Delvik Cache
7. Install JB Rom and gapps(if needed)
8. Wipe Cache and Delvik Cache.
9. Reboot.
10. Open navigation and let GPS lock on and it start giving directions. (This may take a while the first time)
Should be good to go from then on.
Any question, feel free to ask. If I helped you out, make sure to hit the "Thanks" button.
Dude, thanks. Why has no one else liked this?
This didn't work for me; nor did trying to flash the nfcfix.zip that others have suggested.
I have also tried to apply all of the nightly updates from CM10.
In my case, since i was using G Wallet, NFC was already turned on before making the update to CM10 stable (1st flash).
Upon getting CM10 up and running, the option was there, but off. When I turned it on, then it grayed out.
Then after a couple reboots, it just went away all together.
Anyone have any other options to try? I got in the habit of using Wallet, so I'd like to be able to keep CM10, and use Wallet, S-Beam, etc..

Loading First ROM

Hey guys,
I'm very new to Android and I have a few questions. I used to install custom OS's on my blackberry and I jailbroke my iphones so I'm some what used to this stuff but every operating system is obviously different. So I've had my S3 for about 6 weeks and I finally rooted a couple days ago. To root I followed this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1875914. I rooted, unlocked the bootloader, and installed clockworkmod recovery. Now I have been wanting to load a jelly bean ROM. I kind of wanted to load the Synergy ROM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792499. So am I ok to just download from that thread and drag and drop to my phone on my PC and just follow the directions? I don't have an external SD Card is just fine to use internal storage? Like I said all I have done is rooted from that first link. I just kinda wanted some verification before I go and brick my phone, thanks for your help.
Piece of cake. If you scroll down to the second post of the Synergy thread, you'll see the very first question in the FAQ:
Q: How do I install this ROM?
A: Download the ROM from the "Download Links" section above, place the file on your phone's external SD card, and then flash via your recovery. First boot after flash takes a wee bit longer than usual.
Click to collapse
So, download the ROM (using either your phone (take note of where it saves it) or computer). If using your computer, connect your phone and drop that sucker somewhere on the SD card (external or internal -I use internal). (I create a folder in the root of my internal SD card called Files to Flash, in which I keep everything I flash, so it doesn't get scattered about, but do what you want )
Use Titanium Backup to back up all your apps and data to restore later (when you do restore, since you're going from ICS to JB, don't restore any System Data as it will cause many issues (apps and app data is fine)).
Reboot into recovery using Rom Manager, as mentioned in the rooting tutorial you followed.
Use your volume keys to navigate to "backup and restore" and select it using either the home or power button.
Select "backup" and wait for your nandroid backup to complete.
Next, navigate back to the original menu and select the "wipe cache/factory data reset" option.
Once that's done, select the "wipe cache partition" option.
(side note: Instead of doing those two things, I like to go into the "mounts and storage" option and select "format /system" "/data" and "/cache". Both ways work - BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO FORMAT SDCARD AND EXTERNALSD IF YOU USE MY METHOD...bad joo joo).
Select the "advanced" option from the initial menu and "wipe dalvic cache".
Now you're ready to install.
In the first menu, the second option is "install zip from sdcard." Select it.
Select "choose zip from sdcard" and navigate to where you saved the ROM and select it.
Scroll either up or down, passed all the "no"s and select "yes" and let it do it's thing.
Once it's done, navigate back to the menu you first started at by selecting the "Go Back" option, then reboot and profit.
letinsh posted pretty much the most concise instructions to follow. In addition, I'll suggest to backup your IMEI prior to flashing anything.

So I can just go to this website from my phone and go to the download link and download directly to my phone? Is that easier/faster? Thanks for responding
Good call, Snoop.
I totally forgot about it because I did it once and have flashed dozens of times since
Naganalf - as far as downloading via fone or computer, it's really 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Whichever makes you more comfortable. Keep in mind that it is HIGHLY recommended that you check the md5 sum of your download before flashing, to ensure you have a good download. I have an md5 sum checker on both my computer and fone, so I can do either fairly easily.
This is the one I used on my computer
and I use MD5 Checker by Fabien Thalgott (play store) on my phone.
Having just looked at the Synergy thread, they don't post md5's for their nightly's, so don't worry about that step for them, although, it typically is good practice to check (I hardbricked my S3 the third day I had it by pushing a corrupt file using Odin that would have been caught if I had checked the md5). (Got it JTAG'd back to life, so no worries - everything is recoverable from except physical damage )
Thanks for your help snoop and letish, after this first flash I will be much more comfortable. I am downloading now so when it gets done I will give it a whirl and let you know how it goes.

No worries, dude. I agonized for days before I rooted and flashed my first ROM on my OG Droid back in the day - had one of the founders of DroidForums (synik4l) on G-chat while I did the deed...I was so chicken
Good times, though. Just do your research, understand what it is you're doing, mitigate any risks (by doing your research...) and go to town! Most of the bugs in the process have been ironed out by jokers like me testing and hard-bricking along the way . At this point, the processes are very user friendly and reliable:fingers-crossed:
Enjoy!
How'd it go?

am I missing something?

If you haven't selected any options yet then just go back into your rom. You need to download EZ Recovery from the Play Store so that you can flash a custom recovery (ClockworkMod or TWRP) through that app.

I'm sorry but I'm a little confused. Why is it only giving me those options when I reboot into recovery from ROM Manager? The first time after I rooted I'm pretty sure there was an option to "Backup and Restore". Also, why can't I just go into ROM Manager and select "Install ROM From SD Card" and select my ROM that way? sorry but I do appreciate your help.

Good questions. The recovery you rebooted into is the Stock recovery that comes with the phone. Your OP in this thread says that you installed CWM recovery. It looks like it didn't stick. Two options - Use the program Snoop suggested, or open up Rom Manager and hit the "Flash Clockwork Mod Recovery" option.
From there you can continue as previously explained.
EDIT - I've never used the ROM Manager's install ROM from SD card option, so I can't speak to it. I know I like having the control (or perceived control ) of doing everything by hand in recovery.
ok I have loaded android version 4.1.1 build number SynergyROM Nightly JB(r111) so I guess i did everything correctly. now i'd like to get my phone kinda back to how i had it lol. if I run titanium backup will my home screens all be restored the way I had them? and when i run titanium backup i ONLY want to run "restore missing apps with data" right? not "restore missing apps + all system data" just want to make sure. thanks

Correct, don't restore the system data. Now, if you want your txt messages back, you'll see a yellow Messages backup (with a TiBu logo). If you restore that (the only option available is Data, I think), you'll get your txts back.
Remember that you'll prolly need to reboot after the restore, then use ROM Manager to Fix Permissions, then restart again. You'll be off to the races!
As far as getting your home screens back, I don't know if that'll be possible, although they're both TouchWiz launchers....might be alright, then
I run Nova launcher regardless of ROM, so all I have to do is restore the Nova app, then used the built in Nova backup/restore to get my home screens back. Let me know how the Titanium restore works! As a side note, if I have any doubt about whether I'll be able to get my launcher set back up (or I'm switching launchers to try them out), I'll take quick screenshots of all my screens and use that as a reference to set them back up
well i think im all set, thanks again for your help guys. I went ahead and installed nova launcher so i can back up my home screens like you said. so if I want to try a different ROM do i need to flash back to stock first? or just do it like i did this time?

Nahh, just as simple as putting the ROM you want on your ex SD card or internal one which ever you prefer, wiping system/data , and wiping your cache, and then flash your new ROM . You can also "dirty flash" if say you are just moving from r111 of synergy to a newer one. Typically on the forum you will see if anyone had any problems dirty flashing. I always go with a clean flash just to avoid any problems to begin with.

What he ^ said. You can go from ROM to ROM. I, also, like Houdini said, like to flash clean each time. Try it both ways and see if you have problems
I just threw out Nova as an example - there are several good launchers out there...Nova, Apex, Go Launcher (I'll probably catch flack for mentioning it), Trebuchet (from CM). Most if not all have the ability to backup your settings. Try 'em each and figure out which one works best for you :good:
Glad it worked, buddy. Welcome to the flashing addiction :highfive:!

+1 for Nova Apex is also pretty good. Like lentinsh said, most if not all have the ability to back up your settings, making flashing from ROM to ROM that much easier :good: Cant go wrong with Nova though
App Restore
Hey peeps,
I have been able to flash a few new ROMs but can't quite get my Apps Restored. I have/had Titanium Back up installed and backed up. With each ROM I install I don't quite get how to restore the Apps I had installed, Titanium Back up gets dropped when I flash to a new ROM.
I'm going to search the Forum for App Backup 101...
OK so I found a link to App Backup and Restore in GPS, on a different thread looks like it is what I need
thanks for any tips...
