i-717 Modem vs i-727 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I recently downloaded the modem for the Note to my Skyrocket. I have noticed an increase of 2/3 bars on a regular basis. I am on SeanZ ICS ROM A-7 and using this http://cl.ly/FpCO modem. I recommend it to anyone looking for a better reception and that is tired of having 1-2 bars where you should have 3-5.

Info is widely available already, but many people are having issues with that modem, hardware related, but when it does work, it works great.
None the less thanks for the info

This was pretty disastrous for me, my ROM did not like new modem flashed after ROM install. Had to got back to previous radio.
Everything started force closing on me

do this and it will work perfectly:
B) Modem issues
So I installed the new UCLC5 modem and now I even get LTE on FULL Bars, it's great and works perfect, but here is how to do it right
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ROM MANAGER FIRST
1) Download it from here http://cl.ly/FpCO, safe it on Ext. SD Card
2) Reboot to Recovery
3) Clear Cache
4) Advansed/Clear D. Cache
5) Flash the Modem
6) Reboot, it will take few minutes, LET IT SIT FOR 5 MIN, DONT DO ANYTHING!!!
7) Now go straight to ROM Manager, do not open any apps or anything.
Now it will most likely it something will freeze and you will get a stop working messege, but just be pacient and wait and keep clicking ok, while making your way to ROM Manager
8) Fix Permission in ROM Manager ( it will happen, even if some app or process freezes in the middle of it, just keep cliking ok for the error messege and let permissions finish.
9) Reboot to Recovery right after permissions is finished.
10) in Recovery go to Advanced/Fix Permission (it may take a minute)
11) Reboot System, it should be normal reboot, just let it sit for a minute
12) now go to dialer and press *#2263#
13) Choose LTE/LTE ALL/click on whatever the number is
14) go back to dialer nd press *#2263# again
15) Choose 1 Auto/Auto/1
give it 10 sec, and ther you go perfectly working modem!

Does anyone have a way to set this modem to LTE?

Unfortunately there are multiple skyrockets where the note radio simply will not work. Hardware related. Mine is one of them

looks like a new ics leak is going to hit soon, d2 base, maybe it will have a good radio this time. im running the note radio but i still think the old radios were better (kj2 etc)

[Q&A] Infused v2 ROM

Notice:
This thread is for general questions regarding Infused v2.
READ CAREFULLY - NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION:
1) Infused v2 is not currently available through ROM Manager. Please be patient.
2) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
Tips and answers to common questions:
1) Animations are disabled by default. Enable them by going to Settings > Display > Animation and selecting "All Animations". If you don't do this, you won't see the CRT screen off animation!
2) If your GPS isn't locking, try this: Go to the phone app and dial *#*#3214789650#*#*. The Angry GPS configuration app will open. Clear GPS data and back out. It may help to reboot after doing that as well.
3) If the power widget isn't working and shows no icons, simply toggling something like GPS in the notification pulldown will fix it. This doesn't seem to be something I caused, but rather a bug in the Rogers shipping ROM. I believe a lot of Galaxy S Gingerbread builds have this problem as well, so it's a Samsung trademark.
Known ROM issues:
-No HDMI support. It was not present in the Rogers base ROM.
-The default lockscreen is a bit laggy. Again, the Rogers base ROM shipped this way. Use the AOSP lockscreen addon or WidgetLocker if you can't stand it.
-HSPA+ may not work properly in all areas.
ROM Manager Installation Instructions:
1) You must be rooted.
2) If you have a /Voodoo folder on your internal SD card, delete it and reboot.
3) If you're already running a custom ROM with Voodoo lagfix FULLY enabled, you can skip to step 7.
4) Download CWM-community-kernel-v8.zip if you're on Froyo or CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel.zip if you're on Gingerbread and place it on your internal SD card.
5) Install SGS Kernel Flasher from the Market.
6) Open SGS Kernel Flasher, select choose kernel, select the file you downloaded, and select flash kernel. Your phone will reboot and begin to enable Voodoo lagfix. Let it do that and boot all the way up. It will take a while (5-10 minutes) because it's converting all partitions to ext4.
7) If you're on Froyo, you must now install a file explorer like Root Explorer from the Market and use it to delete the file /system/bin/recovery. You will need to hit the "Mount R/W" button in Root Explorer before it will let you delete it. I can't stress this enough... you MUST MUST MUST delete that file before continuing or else you will get boot loops!
8) Now install ROM Manager from the Market and open it.
9) Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose "Galaxy S i9000".
10) Now go to "Download ROM", select my section (gtg465x), select the latest Infused V2 release, and hit the download button.
11) At the "Installation Type" prompt, select full.
12) Select the addons you wish to install and then wait for ROM Manager to download the ROM. There is a note at the bottom of this post about which addons are not compatible with each other.
13) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, you MUST check "Wipe Data and Cache" unless you're coming from Infused V2 BETA 1.
14) Press OK. Your phone will reboot and automatically install the ROM. Just sit back and relax.
15) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
CWM Installation Instructions:
7) Download update-infused-v2.X.X-full.zip and place it on your internal SD card.
8) Power off your phone.
9) With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. This should boot you into RED CWM.
10) Select "install zip from sdcard" and select update-infused-v2.X.X-full.zip.
11) Once that finishes, select "wipe data/factory reset".
12) Select "reboot system now".
13) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
Installing addons:
1) Install ROM Manager from the Market and open it.
2) Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose "Galaxy S i9000".
3) Now go to "Download ROM", select my section (gtg465x), select the latest Infused V2 release, and hit the download button.
4) At the "Installation Type" prompt, select "Addons only".
5) Select the addons you wish to install and then wait for ROM Manager to download them. There is a note at the bottom of this post about which addons are not compatible with each other.
6) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, you can uncheck "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and press OK.
7) Your phone will reboot and automatically install the addons. Just sit back and relax.
Note about addons: The only overscroll addon that is compatible with "Disable CM7 style battery w/ percent" is "Change overscroll from bounce to glow (AOSP yellow)", and for that to work you need to flash "Change overscroll from bounce to glow (AOSP yellow)" first. "Change overscroll from bounce to glow (Samsung blue)" and "Disable all overscroll effects" will not work with "Disable CM7 style battery w/ percent".
3e recovery
in your infused v1 there is step for modded 3e recovery which i believe is pre-requisite before getting CWM so with v2 whether modded 3e recovery is required, right?

No, if you follow the CWM installation instructions then modified 3e recovery is not required. Flashing a kernel that includes CWM in steps 4 through 6 bypasses the need to install modified 3e recovery.
Love the Rom---HSPA????
ok am on 2.0.3 - Good look.
running GB kernel 1.0
everything is stable and fine now for almost a week.
Data speeds are great either way BUT......
only question i have is concerning HSPA i read the fix for it. but even after another install and the fix again it still does not show up. i have a Cappy as well running Miui 1.8.5 with the Glitch Kernel and it gets HSPA no prob all the time. so i dont think its the area.
any ideas. again i get a consistent 3.5-4 mbps either way, im just curious
Is your links back up in rom manager?

The mobile network type listed in Settings > About phone > Status is next to useless. There was a bug in our stock Froyo ROM that caused it to show UMTS there when you were actually on HSPA+. For Gingerbread, we have no clue what it should or shouldn't be displaying there.

Just an FYI... v2.0.4 may be no better than v2.0.1. In fact, if it doesn't fix HSPA+, it could actually be worse if battery life degrades as well. There have been no real improvements since v2.0.1... just attempts to fix HSPA+. If you're happy with your network speeds on v2.0.1, I recommend staying there for now.
n00b alert!!!
how do i add the add-ons through CWM since the links are down on rom manager? thx

good to know. oddly enough...mine did not change to umts until flashing 2.0.4
xtreemlabs test results also previously showed connection type as EDGE on previous builds...but as of 2.0.4 it has changed to 3g.
currently trying to find a network widget that is at least somewhat accurate in reporting the connection type.
Hey gtg, when ever I use the infused rom, my battery life always takes a nose dive. Its not that great on stock either. You think its my phone battery or something with the rom? If it is any fixes? I love using the rom, just the battery drain kills me every time.
addons and cwm
Can the addons be installed using red cwm? Since the zips can be downloaded from the infused devel thread...and in the past I've used rom mgr seems like it just uses cwm anyway...
I can't get a list of addons (assuming there is one, that is) when clicking gtg in rom mgr. Seems like I read gtg took down the rom list so that may explain the error I get when using rom mgr. Tia.

Hey Gtg, I'm running 2.0.0 currently and I'd like to upgrade to 2.0.1, but
I can only find the full version. Do you have a link to the smaller, upgrade version anywhere?
Stickied.
ok loaded up 2.0.4 and have tested the network speeds, they maybe a lil more consistant. i was looking as
3.9 - 1.8
4.6 - 1.2
4.3 - .8
5.6 - 1.6
3.6 - 1.0
on the new rom with speedtest.net.
can say that those results where better or at least more consistent than when i was on 2.0.3.

1) Sometimes GB will go nuts on your battery, try rebooting.
2) If this doesn't fix it, try seeing if disabling wifi changes things. Some people have experienced a weird issue where wifi being on kills the battery. Unfortunately it doesn't affect everyone, and so far doesn't seem to have affected any devs which makes it a pain to debug.
Would it be possible to get working version of Buddies NOw for this ROM?
Just wondering if I'm going from infused froyo to gb if I have to redo cwm and root and rom manager or just do I from cwm and just flash and then just get rom manager and I'm sure the rom is rooted already so that will be fine. Just want to make sure what needs to be done. If some one can let me know I'd appreciate it. Thank you in advance...

Data not working after multiple flashes

Well to be specific I was running Weapon g2x 3r1 everything was fine then flashed miui 11.18.11 then couldn't get data to work on that ( did hard reboot, factory wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, pulling the battery nothing ). So I said ok back to weapon..data doesnt work, flashed axura data doesn't work, flashed xboarders tweaked OTA..nothing. Making calls is fine but data just isn't working. Any suggestions?
What worked for me.
1. Go to the market and download this app called "APNs Backup (root)"
2. Open app, tap "Backup APNs", name it whatever
3. Then tap "Restore APNS"
4. Tap your save file. It should say rebooting.
5. When it turns back on, give it a second and make sure your data in network settings is checked along with 3G.
6. Tell us how it goes.
7. Good luck.

Should of tried that, I ended up using nvflash back to stock, that got it to work, then flashed Axura =] all good now. Thanks for the help .
I think I had a similar problem with my data. After I flashed weapon 3.0 I wasn't able to use the internet or apps that required data connection. Only worked while I was on wifi. I also received an error msg while I do a search for networks. Is there some way to fix this?

[Hint] Guide to flawless ICS leak

Not sure if all this is required, but after following these steps I have no problems with home or search, calls or SMS, nor Google Play or any FC.
This guide assumes you already made a nandroid backup of your existing ROM and are ready to flash ICS Leak.
1) Flash ICS Leak via Odin .. Do not flash custom recovery yet.
2) Let it boot. When you get to the AT&T screen with Next or Cancel, choose Cancel (even if you use the service AT&T is offering)
3) Uncheck location on Google page and click next
4) Wait for app installation
5) Do a factory reset from within Android
6) Repeat 2-4
7) This time power off and reboot into Odin
8) Flash your favorite version of CWM
9) Reboot into recovery
10) Use CWM wipe data/factory reset
11) Repeat 2-4, except this you can set up both AT&T PC Setup and Google Location if you wish (no point before since we'd be wiping the settings)
12) Enjoy working ICS
Note about the market: The first time you run the Market it will download the new Google Play Market in the background. The next time you run the market, it will install itself. Sometimes this causes FC. If your market crashes after this, go to Applications in the settings and clear Play Market's data. All should be well after this.

Fix for NFC and GPS in CM10 or any JB ROM

So, this may sound stupid, but it actually works...
To turn on NFC in any JB ROM:
1. Make a Backup
2. Install any ICS ROM.
3. Turn NFC on within the ICS ROM.
4. Restore back to JB and NFC will be turned on.
To fix GPS (Navigation just says "searching for GPS").
NOTE: I Have only tried this doing a wipe, and installing ROM clean. It may work doing a restore, it may not.
1. Make a Backup
2. Install any ICS ROM.
3. In location settings, make sure Verizon Location Services is unchecked and everything else is checked.
4. Open Google Navigation and let it go until it starts giving you directions and locks on to GPS.
5. Factory Reset
6. Wipe Cache and Delvik Cache
7. Install JB Rom and gapps(if needed)
8. Wipe Cache and Delvik Cache.
9. Reboot.
10. Open navigation and let GPS lock on and it start giving directions. (This may take a while the first time)
Should be good to go from then on.
Any question, feel free to ask. If I helped you out, make sure to hit the "Thanks" button.
Dude, thanks. Why has no one else liked this?
This didn't work for me; nor did trying to flash the nfcfix.zip that others have suggested.
I have also tried to apply all of the nightly updates from CM10.
In my case, since i was using G Wallet, NFC was already turned on before making the update to CM10 stable (1st flash).
Upon getting CM10 up and running, the option was there, but off. When I turned it on, then it grayed out.
Then after a couple reboots, it just went away all together.
Anyone have any other options to try? I got in the habit of using Wallet, so I'd like to be able to keep CM10, and use Wallet, S-Beam, etc..

FULL NOOB Custom ROM install Instructions
How to install a custom ROM, Hopefully without messing anything else up.
Follow ALL the directions carefully.
These instructions are intended to do a couple things.
1. Not mess up your stock ROM(assumed to be ICS 4.04 stock OTA)
2. Allow you to use 4 other ROM’s on systems 3-6.
3. Show you why you couldn’t figure this out from the normal forum posts that just simply say.
1. Wipe data/factory reset, cache and Dalvik cache
2. Install your ROM
3. Install gapps
4. Reboot and enjoy!NOW Let’s get started. Read through this once or twice before trying.
1. FULLY CHARGE YOUR PHONE BATTERY.(then come back)
2. On your phone Go to System Settings, More, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, Copy down your APN settings. For AT&T USA they are as follows, AT&T US HSDPA, APN (phone), MCC (310), MNC (410), APN type (default, supl, agps, fota, dun), APN protocol (IPv4), APN enable/disable(APN enabled)
3. Connect your phone to your computer, choose Mass storage, USB storage. Let it install the drivers.
4. Switch the connection type to Media device, MTP and let it install the drivers.
5. Switch the connection type to Camera, PTP and let it install the drivers.
6. Create a folder on your computer, Example, D:\ROMS\SLIMKAT, D:\ROMS\CM11
7. Download the ROMs you want to their specific folders.
8. Download the rom specific GAPPs(Google Apps Package) to the same folder. Download any other packages that are needed to the same folder (mods/fixes).
9. Connect your phone as USB storage.
10. Copy the folder to your SD card.
11. Root your phone. As of 2/2/2014 If you are on stock ICS 4.0.4 the current way to root it is to use, Click_to_Root, Search the forum for the download, new_root_unroot_4.0.4_ics.rar
12. Download the Zip or RAR,
13. Extract it. The folder will look something like this D:\ROMS\new_root_unroot_4.0.4_ics.
14. Connect your phone as Media device, MTP.
15. Open the folder D:\ROMS\new_root_unroot_4.0.4_ics
16. Double click on Click_to_Root.bat, let it root your phone and wait for it to reboot. Don’t touch anything until it tells you that it was successful and your phone has rebooted.
17. Go to the Play Store and install Boot Menu Manager(BMM).
18. Open BMM click rebooter and choose reboot.

27. Choose 800MB. If you add up the total size of ROM + GAAPS + MODS/FIXES, it should be less than the size you choose for system.img. So in my case choosing SlimKat I could have gotten away with 500MB.

I'm currently on a 2.3.6 ROM called VictoryROM 1.1 and when I search the play store I cannot find the BMM app. I used and still have Clockworkmod Recovery 5.02.5 installed which is what I used to flash victoryrom wayback when. I'm curious if I could use that recovery method to flash the new ROMs out nowadays, such as revolt or Unicorn.

Yep, but install BMM as most of these 4.4 ROMs are BMM. Read the guide and watch the videos before you mess up your phone. Beware installing them on system 1 or 2 unless you have a backup phone. They are not stable enough yet. Keep in mind they are still unofficial. So if you are wanting stable you might consider 4.3 Mokee or PAC MAN.
