I'm trying to flash bricked 1.5r1 beta4 on ARHD 3.4.7. Wiped dalvik & cache and booted to home screen fine, but I got random boot loops within minutes.
Did this on a clean install. InsertCoin with bricked doesn't give me the same problem, same with reverting to faux123's kernel on ARHD.
I really like ARHD, and wanna test out bricked on it. What could I be missing, please help!
Anyone?

Hi,
I have not seen this problem before.
Has anyone reported this on bricked thread?
The way around this would be to flash ARHD ROM again.
This will re-install the original kernel.
Then, why don't you try latest Faux kernel in my signature.
No problems reported with that one.
I did and installed 1.5 bricked and issue was solved. The version after this forced me to loop. The newest beta randomly dc. But 1.5 is solid.

Hey,
So i flashed the 1.10.7 onto my phone, after which I ran the Kernel cleaning script and then flashed the latest cm7 platypus kernel.
I was running MIUI 1.9.16 before this and had no issues at all. Also before I flashed I did wipe system and cache.
On reboot my phone just basically hangs at the boot screen.
Any ideas on how to fix it? I really wanna go back to the platypus kernel.
Thanks in advance.
Wow the same thing is happening to me. I can't seem to flash any kernel on the new miui ROM. It just gets stuck at boot screen.
I would just flash back to the old version.

Which platypus kernel? 17r15 or16 are the only ones that will b boot up after the 1.9.23 or.30 update. Glitch v12b3 should also work. Talon MTD will not work on latest update.
Figured out the hard way that Talon wouldn't work.
I've been doing too much 'trying out ' of the various mods lately. I need to stick with one for a while.

I flashed Glitch and it worked well.

Platapus and talon were not updated when the new build was released. That isn't guess why they wouldn't work for me either. The new Neo kernel is out I read. Give that a shot.
Glitch kernel let me OC to 1.4!
I was trying to flash with the neo17 kernel which was released on 9/7. Did a newer kernel come out after that?
Yup I guess I was on the r16 which, doesnt work with the new miui.
Got the newer one, which works fine.
Hi All
Finally plucked up the courage to register and ask a question after lurking for the good part of 2 years.
I've an i9020A and have flashed CyanogenMod 9 v4.0.3 v1.0 which is great, however I wanted to try Steve Garon's kernel which just wont take.
I reboot into Recovery, wipe Dalvik Cache a couple of times, install Steve's kernel which apparently flashes no problem.
I reboot and get the optimising Android applications screen then check my kernel under settings.
It is still the original KalimochoAz kernel and I cannot turn on my wireless.
Now this has happened previously when trying to also update my kernel under CDTDroid's AndroidMe 1.2 which I could only fix by restoring back to 1.1.
Any idea on what may be wrong here guys?
Appreciation in advance.
Lally
Have you tried just flashing again? A bad flash often results in wifi not working and may be the cause of the about page showing the old kernel. Remember to wipe dalvik cache again, too.
Thanks for the reply Harbb, do you mean a re flash of the Kernel or ROM? If Kernel then yeah I have done, same scenario. I'll also try a re download of the Kernel to see if that improves anything but this is much akin to me trying to update from Speedy3 to Speedy4 under AndroidMe 1.2 which was unsuccessful.
Just the kernel, as you've already tried. Just remember to do a NANDroid backup (CWM --> backup & restore --> backup) when you have a stable, working ROM. Can save you alot of trouble if you don't have a relatively recent one.
Also, are you using CWM 5.0.2.0? And could it be that your phone isn't particularly happy about the 1100mhz OC with Steve Garon's kernel?
I'd suggest updating CWM recovery to the latest version.

Cheers for the help guys.
Yes, using 5.0.2.0, but something is not right cause I just tried to flash CWR again from within Rom Manager (4.8.1.3) and it gets to around 95% and the app gives 'Rom Manager is not responding.
Looks like I'll have to try a complete wipe and reflash.
Will report back the results.
Forget rom manager all together.
Download the recovery you want to use.
Flash it via fastboot
flash kernel.
I'd do what albundy said - flash a new recovery through fastboot and make sure the bootloader is unlocked (vol. up + power --> bootloader: unlocked)
Ok, downloaded CM9 1.1, redownloaded Steves kernel, reinstalled recovery from fastboot.
Wiped and formatted everything twice then installed from scratch.
So far everything is good, still getting errors on Superuser, but installing again via recovery seems to fix that issue.
Cheers chaps.
Good to know Lally, happy you got it sorted out.
Cheers Harbb, the test will be when I want to change the kernel again I suppose, one complete wipe and install a day is enough
Hello people. I am using the HTC sensation z710e and it is running the sense o maniac ics room but I am having trouble flashing the virtuous quattro rc2 Ro. I downloaded the kernel for it and firmware and everything but when I try to flash it it just comes up cannot assertand some codes . Any body have a solution. And yes I wiped the data cache and dalvik cache before and restarted .
First of all do a nandroid backup. Then try to download files again, check md5 sum. Before flashing new rom make a full wipe. Hope this helps you
First make shure you Super CID your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 Step 4.
Then you need to flash the firmware directly from HBoot not in CWM oder something like this. look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618 for more information. you need to place PG58IMG.zip on the top of your SDCard then you can flash it over HBoot...
hm im confused, ive already done a full backup and done the thing with file PG518.zip in hboot but iit still doesnt work.
Which firmware did you use? Quattro alpha2 and alpha3 need different firmwares.
im using the one ono there page, comb_keneral-WOB, if you know if its a different one can you please give me the link? you will be thanked XD OH FYI im now using the alpha 2 file again.
For Virtuous Quattro alpha 2, you should use this firmware.
THANK ALL OF YOU. YOU EACH GOT A THANKS. But..... I flashed it sucessfully ETC and when I rebooted the phone it is stuck as the virtous quattro blue image. It is not bricked as i pulled out the battery and it could go into the hboot menu thing. Anything? It;s been like this for 20 minutes and I dont know how much longer my battery will last

I had the same issues after flashing the newest firmware (updatet 20.1) with alpha2 just wipeted everything und installed alpha3, After that it worked great.

That's what I was going to suggest next
Wipe --> 3.24 firmware --> Quattro alpha3.

s-off, ext4 recovery, hboot 1.27.000, unlocked, no i did not make nandroid backup.
Hyper nonsense is sense base. You installed the wrong kernel for it. Try the sense base sultan kernel. Not the aosp sultan kernel
Try this version of sultan, it's sense base

You can try using a different recovery like TWRP. Back when I was S-ON and using 4ext, I got a lot of problems because 4ext was really glitchy (the problem you're experiencing is one of the problems I got with 4ext). Anyway, the way to fix this is to get the boot.img file from the hypernonsense ROM .zip file, reboot your phone to the bootloader, select fastboot, plug your phone into your computer, and flash the boot.img file using fastboot. Instructions in further detail on how to do this can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1752270
If you have any questions on what to do then feel free to ask.
Sultan
PS: My AOSP kernel boots on Sense based ROMs but not everything works correctly or well (ex: USB doesn't work). Also, the problem you're having is not the kernel's fault.
Great thanks! I believed it is the end... I've got last question. Why performance gov is not recommended? Are there better settings to make my phone not miss a single UI animation frame ? ;p

Mainly because performance burns a lot of power and produces a lot of heat. I'll remove the "not recommended" flag from it in the next release. A good governor for a smooth UI is Lagfree.
I have recently upgraded my HTC One XL to CM10.2 using a stock kernel and each time when I try to reboot my phone, it goes into a boot loop and only boots up after rebooting a few times. Sometimes it boots up and then hangs, then I'm forced to restart it and then again it keeps rebooting before I can actually use my phone. Does anyone know how to fix this?
That's a pretty common problem with recent builds of cm unfortunately, if you have a read through the ROM/q&a threads for cm some people have overcome this by flashing a boot.img from an earlier build. You could also try the Torched kernel. When you say stock kernel what exactly do you mean?

Seems to be fixed now. Flash that latest CM10.2 and boot.img separately via fastboot and clear your cache/dalvik.
