hey all i am planning to buy a new android phone, and my history is a wildfire(cm7.1) which i sold, and i am currently owning an htc hd7( with xboxmod rom). and i am not that much happy with windows 7 phone( and cant find any android rom for it).
so.......
well i am planning to sell hd7 and buy an android phone.
i am confused with a lot of android phones around, so i decided to ask you people.
my specifations are..
1) hdpi screen 800*480
2) 1 or 1.2 ghz chipset( qualacom or tegra??) with a min 512 mb ram
3)good gpu,( i dont play that much, but like to make apps and graphics faster)
4) blue tooth 2 or 2.1 with a2dp.
5)some internal memory( 512mb - 2gb range) and mor than 8gb external micro sd support.
6) wifi b/g/(if i can get then n too)
7) good hsdpa speed( i mean 3g)
8)and all sensors needed for android device( we can omit gyro)
9) 5mp cam with 720p video rec( i have sonyericsson c905 for photo, lol 8mp cybershot phone).
10) a good battery life( like 4-5 hours calling/browsing in 2g or 3g, 5-8 hrs video/audio playback, and i really care about audio quality through headphones, it needs to be good)
these are my hardware spec, now my software spec are..
1) i should be able to load honeycomb( if a rom is available for the device), and may be upto icecream sandwich( little overkill??)
2) easily bootloader unlockable and rootable( i dont want to pay for it)
3) i need the best roms to be loaded into it( like cm, miui, etc and i never care for stock roms, as we can flash anything to it.)
4) multi bootable( if i get some thing like hd2 or so??, ) well its not a need, but if i can have it, then i am ok.
i like to have a htc( top priority), sonyericsson, or samsung device. well probably a phone with top spec in a middle class budget ( some thing that cost like htc desire S.). nop i am not going after latest workstations with tegra 2 cpu 1.2 or 1.4 ghz. which costs a lot money
what are your options?? does it worth to by the "old legend" HTC HD2? or you have better options?
Which problem is with HD7 ??
I'd recommend the Galaxy S II, it meets the majority of your requirements and should get an ICS official update soon
Galaxy S II my man. Everything you need. It will be with T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T.
1. 2.3 Gingerbread OS, up-gradable to ISC
2. 4.3 Super AMOLED screen with 1080p recording
3. 1.2GHz dual-core
4. 18 hr talk time battery
5. 1Gb Ram, 32Gb Internal memory with up to 32Gb memory slot
and more...
Click the thank you button and show me some love and that I helped.
Good luck
all about s2.. but dudes i am personaly an htc fan, though i also accept sonyericsson. but not thatmuch used with samsung.. coz, in the hardware respect, i have seen that htc have much more classy finish and are quite problem free.. also samsung is a newer in android / smartphone market, where as htc has proven their lagency in smatphone market. so pls pick an htc device. what about dezire hd?
I would suggest the HTC EVO 3D or the HTC sensation XL all the way....
If you want to save some money, then I would go for the Desire S.

Oh! Ok, I also I like the HTC's android devices. The latest and fastest HTC are.
1. HTC Rezound (Verizon)
2. HTC Vivid (AT&T)
3. HTC Amaze (T-mobile)
4. HTC Evo Design (Sprint)
These are the latest and fastest with alot of memory HTC phones.
Take the Galaxy S 2 or the Galaxy Nexus. For a cheap and good for modding take the galaxy si9000

guys please......which one shall i choose??
ok after a bit of work by myself....i found out that i have to increase my budget
..now i am choosing between
1>htc hd2 leo (huge screen! 1 ghz...)
2>mytouch3g slide(loved android 2.1 and keyboard)
i know my priority is android but since both the phones are priced around 360$(ebay)and the hd2 has a gorgeous screen & snapdragon i made it my option as well.also i came to know that there is a lot of work being done to port android to hd2.so should i go with hd2 or a mytouch slide .
also how do 3d accelerators in mytouch slide and hd2 compare to each other??do they even have them?? which one should i go for.
Good options!!
hard decision...
I love keyboard devices but don´t like Android
On the other hand Leo is a great powerful device but no keyboard...
I think I would choose Leo
Hi,
I have the HTC HD2 and tried android clix, the newest one.
Had it for 2 days & it went back. The slid keyboard is hard to see.
TMO is coming out with a samsung galaxy android with 1ghz processor & big screen. Just check it out!
bliss23
thanks guys.....
i am also intended to surf a lot of internet in my phone.and ive never owned any phone with a keyboard.so is it helpful while surfing net??
also i came to know that both snapdragon 1 ghz processor and msm 7227 600 mhz processors have the same graphics controller. so in 3d profermance it should be the same for both mytouch slide and htc leo right?
and i think samsung galaxy s will not fit to my budget as my budget is only upto 400$ max
sorry for being so conservative as i have to get the phone internationally shipped to me and after that i cant return it back.
help appreciated
Im an average user and thinking on getting one of the 2 mentioned above. The Desire costs 40 pounds extra.
One thing that is important to me the the support for hebrew fonts for txting, reading, etc. I know the desire can handle it fine plus theres a kyboard i can download from the market, but i dont know if the omnia supports hebrew fonts.
Other than that, any advice on which 1 to get would be appreciated
vote desire S . i luv android
Does wp7 has auto update for getting the NODO if the phone doesnt comes with it?
The internal memory is in both terminals a micro sd?

same dilema as you but with dhd vs desire s . get the desire s. as far as i know wp7 isnt as fun + versatile as android. the specs on desire s are better than omnia (faster cpu, more ram etc)
only advantage of omnia is super amoled screen
Omnia all the way! 16gb is nice to have.
vote wp7 because i like newest os
Guys. I want to have a new used phone..
What to choose?
Samsung Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire HD..
Or any phone used to about 300€
go for galaxy s i9000 ... but then galaxy s feels slower too these days! i recommend galaxy s II or motorola atrix
to save repeating myself, see this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17487969&postcount=9
So what to choose?.. I don´t want HD2 as far as Adreno 200 is too slow

??[in bold] and the hd2 is certainly not too slow, it runs mango as fast as a native device and bliss sense 3.5 works sweetly on there.
Its a cheap device too running it at £150 max for a good second hand device.
Up to you
I want Desire HD. I want Android on it not WP7. Also Sense 3.0.
Adreno 200 = Graphics Chip
I've been using the SG3 for the last year and quite satisfied with it. Now I'm planning to buy a new android phone which have should have the following specifications:
1. Atleast 1GHz processor
2. Screen size should be between 3.5"-3.7"- I found the 3.2" is quite small but 4" screen is too big for me
3. Good battery backup - good to have atleast 1500mAh battery
4. Should be up-gradable to Android ICS (2.4)
5. Good to have a front facing camera
6. Enough internal memory - alteast 512 MB
I've shortlisted the HTC Desire s but I'm not sure whether it will get the ICS update or not, also not sure if there is any other option. Friends, can you please suggest anything else which meets the above specification, if any.
Overclock your g3 or buy a new nexus s, it has all requirements and will get ICS in Dezember.

TAKE THIS TO THE XDA GENERAL DISCUSSIONS!!
Hi Guyz I am from India looking for a new phone within 10-12k INR ie about 200-250 USD. By doing a little bit of research for 5-6days i have narrowed my choices to a few phones.
Dell XCD35
LG Optimus One
HTC Wildfire
HTC Wildfire S
HTC Explorer
Samsung Galaxy Fit
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Please Suggest me which one of the following will be a good choice for me. First things first I should be able to install apps in Memory card. I think we need to root the device for it if i am not wrong (Please clear this doubt for me). Second the device should be choppy or laggy in terms of gaming too ... !!! If i get Android i will definitely play a lot of 3d Games.
HOPING TO GET MY DOUBTS CLEARED SOON !!!
Going by the list of phones you are looking at, i would recommend 1 phone and take 2 into concideration.
Recommended:
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Alternatives:
HTC Wildfire S
LG Optimus One
There are essentialy 3 Factors that are important for you, they are:
Resolution -> a lot of apps simply will not install on phones that use 320x240 screens
CPU Clockspeed -> The Faster the CPU is, the faster applications like games will run
Amount of RAM -> The more RAM you have the better the phone will perform while multitasking
All of the phones you have listed are essentialy either older, and/or lower specced entry level phones. All of them are using older CPUs (ARM11 / ARMv6) and most of them are clocked at 600 MHz or even lower like The HTC Wildfire (528 MHz).
The exception here is the Samsung Galaxy Ace clocked at 800 Mhz, so it has the fastest hardware and should be the fastest out of all of them for gaming.
A lot of the phones you have listed have fairly little RAM by todays standards, often times only 256 MB
While the Galaxy Ace has 384 MB of Ram, the Optimus One and the Wildfire S both have 512 MB of Ram, but a slower 600 Mhz CPU.
IF you chose a phone with more RAM over the Galaxy Ace's faster CPU, i personaly would go with the Wildfire S, as it has superior build quality and is better supported by custom roms.
So the choice is essentialy yours:
Galaxy Ace
------------------
3.5 Inch Screen
800 Mhz CPU => Gaming
384 MB RAM
Wildfire S / Optimus One
--------------------------------------
3.2 Inch Screen
600 Mhz CPU
512 MB RAM => Multitasking
According to your requirements, you should go for Galaxy Ace. It's really a nice smartphone with mind blowing features. It can also provide you a nice gaming experience. I am personally using it an loving it a lot.
And this is not always necessary to root the device for installing apps on memory card. But in some cases, it is necessary (if manufacturer has programmed the device to download apps directly to phone memory). When it comes to rooting, then rooting is just like jailbreaking in Apple. A rooted android device breaks the limitations that are applied to it either by manufacturer or carrier. Following are some examples about What a rooted user can do:
1) Access the flash memory chip, which you need to do if you want to modify the Android OS or replace it with a customized version.
2) Make the apps on your phone run faster.
3) Remove pre-installed apps to free up space.
4) Turn the phone into a 3G/4G WI-Fi hotspot without paying an extra fee.
There are also many other reasons for rooting. But these are the most popular ones.
So HTC Wildfire S or Samsung Galaxy Ace is it ..... Can any1 tell me how much of a diff. does 200MHz make in gaming. I mean is it noticable ????

Well, in this case it is a speed increase of 1/3 or 33%, just imagine how much higher your PC CPU would be clocked if it was 33% faster.
Go with the SG Ace
If you are willing to install custom roms, I bet the wildfire S can be overclocked to run at a higher mhz.

Well Even if i do plan to Install Custom ROM i dont think i will overclock the CPu ... so final decision is Galaxy Ace will purchase within 2-3weeks.
