[Q] SuperUser Update Issue - HTC Sensation

I hope this isn't a duplicate, I did search before trying to post here. XDA won't let me post to ROM thread as I'm a n00b, so this is my only option.
Using Pyramid3D ROM on my Sensation 4G, yesterday I allowed Superuser to update from the Market and now nothing gets Root access.
Any suggestions?!? Thanks in advance!

Well, I found my own way to fix my issue. I uninstalled SuperUser from the device and then just reflashed the ROM and the incremental update and it worked fine. Just FYI...

I got the an update on it recently but I didn't get any issues, but I know that it went buggy a few weeks ago and it wouldn't allow anything to get superuser access..

[Q] Please help! May need rerooting but unsure!

I apologize to all if this is in the wrong category or this has been answered already. I am new to his site and relatively new to the ROMS and Rooting
Basically what happened is I rooted my evo in order to wifi Tether, this worked fine, however, i made the rookie mistake of updating my phone which may have removed the root because my root programs say i no longer have root priveleges.
Next I figured since its not rooted anymore I'd be able to update to the latest software 3.7, however this proved to not work either as it will find the update when i search for updates and wont install.
Now i am confused, should i reroot my phone, and flash the rooted version of the 3.7 update rom, should i factory reset, or am i just stuck with this phone the way it is now.
Thanks in advance

Warning BusyBox 1.20.1?

Just updated my BusyBox (with pro installer) and it broke everything. lost root access on my rom, 90% of my apps were broken, wifi was gone. Not the only one either... reviews in appstore have tons of people with same issue.
Dunno if this has been posted elsewhere, but just in case, thought i'd get it out there cause i didn't see it.
Current BusyBox update KILLED my Evo. Nand before you update it...
I updated last night and have had no problems? Is it specific devices i wonder?
I've not had any problems with 1.20.1 on my Samsung Galaxy Y (using Stericson's BusyBox app), though the install of it was very slow. It said I had 250Mb of system space left though, when I only had 25.0Mb remaining...
Press 'Thanks' if I helped!

There was a bug with version 8.0 of my application.
There is not an issue with Busybox V1.20.1.
I apologize for this bug, the application symlinked all applets to Busybox and on some devices there are applets which are unique to the device and should not be replaced by those offered by Busybox.
A simple way to fix this is to simply reflash your rom. You do not need to wipe or clear any data. This will fix the issue and you can update Busybox normally with my application as long as it is version 8.1 or higher.
I apologize for the frustration I have caused, please let me know if I can do anything to help you further.
I had no idea what happened to my WIFI until now. Thanks for the fix Stericson.
Right on... grabbed new updater, went through the motions, everything normal after reboot.
Thought i had phone in OP, but i'm running EVO 4G (seems a lot of people that had issues are on EVO too, don't know if it's related, but there ya have it)
Thanks though Stericson.
no problems here
I have it on my epic 4G and it;s working with no problem! probably a bad install uninstall and reinstall... just a thought
It was just an issue with my application, version 8.0. The bug has since been fixed.
Looks like most who have been hit by the bug are back up and running.
No problems here, Galaxy S ICS powered.
I'm still not updating. Droid x2 running cm7.2.0 rc1. I reflashed my rom this morning and the "smart installer" just keeps running. I have busy box pro.

No problems here, too
i installed it and it slow down my system boot, after the boot animation it's takes a while and I see the indication 'loading' on the widget and calendar......
nexus s 404 stock kernel and rom...su+cwm touch
now i think to uninstall it...but uninstall would mess up something?? and i have to get the pro version??
tnx
I don't think it's a bug in busybox, rather incompatibility with Android. I've been using devel builds of busybox-power (with extra progs) on Maemo and worked flawlessly. >= 1.20 works awesome
and regarding uninstall it...uninstall would mess up something??
and i have to get the pro version??
tnx again
It's not busybox itself it's the install program. I have busybox pro by Stericson. I've been reading other threads and he thinks he has all the bugs worked out. My" smart install" part of the program ran constant for days without installing the update. No way is this thing fixed. I finally had to go back to my last backup and recover. Then I uninstalled the busy box pro install app. I still have busybox the program on my phone. It reverted back to 1.94cm7 version which came with the rom. I'm not reinstalling that app until I know it's fixed. It really messed up my phone. I won't be receiving any updates but that's OK I'll wait. By the way I have a Droid x2 running cm7 dx2 rc1.

try using an updated superuser and don't use this section of the thread when asking questions..
you should use CWM to flash superSU.
You will need SuperSU instead of SuperUser.

Htc One S Root SuperSU0.99 issue

Hi
Many people complained last days that they have problem with SuperSU 0.99 app.
They cant update the binary and phone reboots its self after "update failed" message
I got an HTC One S with S4 cpu last week and i got the new Jelly Bean Update 4.1.1
Then i unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP custom recovery with One_S_All-In-One_Kit_v3.0 tool kit
After that i tryed to Root the phone with SuperSU 0.99.
Seems worked fine until i tryed to update my binary.
I get message "update failed" and my phone restarts.
I tryed to wipe and reflash the root but still same.
I even tryed to remove SUPERSU from System/App but with no luck. It keeps coming back even if i
removing it and revert everything to stock its still in SYSTEM.
Now i found this new Superuser version and flashed it and now my phone works fine and updating binary.
No more phone restart.
Even my SuperSU 0.99 is gone from system.
How TO:
Download superuser from this page http://androidsu.com/superuser/
Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip
Then boot into recovery
Flash Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip
Restart and voila the root works...
Hope i helped you guys.. Good Luck
Version 3.1.3 is reported to work better.
And doubt it really needed a new thread starting its discussed in most rom treads.
I started this thread just because of the issue SUPERSU 0.99 brings to HTC One S with Jelly Bean update.
I hope i can help someone because i didnt find any solution to my problem until i flashed superuser and it solved my problem.

I agree that this adds clutter, but I have been lightly following the threads for the JB ROMs and tried using superuser (though not the rc) without it working (still unable to update system). It's good to have this kind of solution in its own thread but general would probably be a better section.

This doesn't belong in the dev section for multiple reasons

Im sorry i didnt see that it was Development section. If someone can move it pls do so.
everyone uses SU...... this is very important for everyone using JB... leave it in here...
I feel it belongs here... this is where SU apps are in the development section... SO, this is where it should stay... (that is just my opinion)
I never want to start this thread like an development because im not a developer.
Reason is that i want to share my issue with anyone who is facing the same problem as i did.
Just like i said if someone think this thread doesn´t belong here then admins can move it to right section.
Updated to JB with OTA yesterday night.
Short version:
-Initially rooted with CWM recovery-> flashed MoDaCo stock recovery
-Apply OTA
-Flash CWM recovery
-Used CWM recovery to flash SuperSU 0.99 zip
-Uninstall/reinstall SuperSu from the Market
When starting SuperSU, it asks for update, if agree -> reboot.
BUT
When using root needing apps, like Titanium backup or FX file manager, they ask for root permission through SU and everything runs normally.
So SuperSU seems to work, only the front end app has some bug. I'm staying with that config waiting for an update.
Hi, same problem here on S3 cpu. Is this method works on S3 cpu as well? Thx for replying.
Hi. I think I have a problem with SuperSU (or something else??). I first started SuperSU last thursday (31.1.2013.). It ask me to update binary, I hit OK, and then it took about half hour to restart. System then recovered, and everything seem to be OK, but it's not!
When I connect my HTC One S to PC I only see files created (photos, videos) until 31.01.2013. Also, when I run Settings -> Memory com.android.settings crashes.
What to do?
I'm new to android. Plese help!

Any idea on how to get SuperSU work instead of SuperUser? I purchased SuperSU in the play store and I think it just looks better...

Lost Root on Stock ROM - Solved

Sharing this here in case it saves somebody else an hour or so.
I rooted my stock Infinity ROM at ICS and have followed all the OTA updates to current 4.2.1 just using OTA Rootkeeper, apparently successfully. It was only recently when I tried to add another app that required root that I discovered I couldn't grant root permissions. To make it worse, I cleared SU data in an attempted fix which successfully removed root from apps that had been OK :crying:
Then I came across this fix that had been applied to a TF300:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183105
It works as described on the TF700 too and seems to have completely fixed my problem.
Thanks to Koush for the fix to blubbhome for posting it somewhere I could find it.
I am out of warranty now and about to install a different ROM so thanks to all devs for the good work.
