MT "Battery Parameter" Red Lightning bolt. - Motorola Triumph

Straight to the point.
Battery was fully charged, took the phone apart down to the front display, put it back together, when it first booted I got a notification saying something about "battery parameters" and there was two choices to choose from but didn't quite see everything because it shut off. I plugged my phone in with a brand new wall charger and turned it on, I only get a empty battery w/ red lightning bolt?? I can only boot into recovery when it's disconnected, so I formatted everything, tried to restore but nothing. Only thing I noticed was when I selected "Download nb0 from sdcard" I did'nt have a sd card in and it said "Battery capacity is 0%, Battery capacity is lower then 20%. Please charge, try again". I checked my battery with a meter and it still says it's charged? I searched the forums but couldn't find a thread that was as nearly complicated as mine. Sorry Im a noob also
BUT THANKS ANYWAYS!!

I've had a similar problem with the red thunderbolt, though it didn't seem quite as complicated as your dilemma. I actually switched batteries with a very trusting someone who had the same exact phone (triumph) and charged my phone and hers to 100%. Then we switched back the batteries and both phones worked normally again. I don't know if this will help, but I do hope you solve your phone's issue. If anything, we all have warranty for a few more months...

Thanks for your advice Ill have to order a battery to see cause I don't know anyone else with this phone. I'v also had the phone for about 6 months so I'm sure there is no warranty still.

[Q] Evo charges, but thinks it isn't charging...very weird

Timeline/Events
1. Broke my Evo's screen
2. Got a replacement from Asurion (crappiest insurance company ever...ever)
3. Recieved new Evo in the mail.
My new/refurbed (not sure if it's new or refurbed) Evo, when I have it plugged in, says it's charging. But the battery percentage continually drops like it's not charging. The phone will die if I just leave it there plugged in. But the kicker is, it's charging, If I do a battery pull/turn off the phone after it's been charging for a bit, and restart it, it'll come back on fully charged.
It lasts the same time on a full charge as before, it's more of a minor inconvenience, but the one thing that this disrupts is my alarm clock. It will always die before the morning when I plug it in at night.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?
My phone is rooted, but it was doing this before root.
Another quirk, It will display full battery, or 1 battery tick gone, until it just shuts off dead with no warning of low battery.
bump
bump, i really need help with this.
Try a hard reset, flash a stock ROM, flash a custom ROM and send back for replacement. Those are your options as i see them, in that order. It could be that the battery is faulty or it could be a software problem. Luckily either one or both can be ruled out, especially if you have a spare battery you could try?
Good luck.
I have done all of this except for send back for replacement. I do have a spare battery, but it does the same thing. I really don't want to send this back for replacement. It seems that this isn't a hardware issue, it's definitely software. IDK... I'll mess around with it a bit more, and then we'll see i guess.
sometimes when my evo is charging, the lightning bolt will disappear from the battery icon while the orange light remains on. the battery status says discharging. if i unplug it and plug it back in, itll charge. this has happened with two evos ive had, two different batteries.
i think i blame my usb ports on the pc

You can tell if it's refurbished if you go into the phone app and dial ##786#. It will tell you if and when the phone was refurbished, how long it was used for, and the first time it was ever activated. Those can't be wiped. Has to be done on a Sense ROM though because it uses the EPST app AOSP ROMs don't have.

[Q] Battery issue

I seem to have run into a problem with the battery in my phone lately. Every time I charge the phone, and sometimes when it's not charging it will turn off. Just randomly no real cause. I don't get a text, or anything. I just pick it up try to unlock it and am greeted with the white HTC screen. This would lead me to believe that I have some kind of short near my battery causing it to not transfer charge across the contacts when its in a certain position or something along those lines. I've also turned it on while it's plugged in and the red LED that says it's charging is on, and the phone said that it had 0 battery left and shut down. I then plugged it back in and turned it on again and it did the same thing, but this time it charged for about 30 seconds, and then the battery was at 100% again. Leaving me going WTF is wrong with my phone.
I'm using a CM7 kernel with Gingerbeast if that helps.
Basically I want to know if anyone else has had this problem, and if so what can I do about it? Also if I did anything wrong or could do something that would help like flashing a better kernel or something advice on that would be much appreciated.

I.read a post once that quoted an HTC Rep. Went something like this...
"Unplug phone and Reboot. Plug in charger and charge until LED shows green or full charge. Unplug. Power off phone. Plug in charger until LED shows green or fully charged. Unplug phone. Reboot. Use phone. Power off. Plug in. Charge until LED shows green or fully charged. Reboot. Your device should be fully charged and battery reset(?).
Ok first off, halfway through when you robot and use phone. You probably won't get a chance to use as the phone may/ should shut itself down and show no battery. The HTC rep did not clearly state that or.it was lost in translation.
Secondly, after it shuts.itself down, let it charge fully. It should not take too long as your battery is already charged. Then reboot and let it run its course. Then fully charge again.
Alternatively - you can download current widget to monitor your battery and also see how much current it is drawing and know when it is fully charged. Even tho your LED is green and battery shows full, it will.still.draw current gradually for up to an hour or so. Very nifty .... Hope it helps!
And a search for these topics will.probably yield much more in depth info....

Did this problem exist on stock ROM?

I seem to have reset my battery on my own as far as I can tell. I basically did the process you described just without knowing.
This problem did also occur on stock rom. It hasn't happened in the past week, so I think it's fine. I may reflash my rom and kernel soon for good measure.
Also sorry for not replying I've been away from civilization for almost a week.

I hope my problem doesn't turn into that. It seems fine now it hasn't done it in a while

[Q] Battery died one day and phone seems to have died with it. WTF!?!

I was away from home for 2 days and forgot my charger. Naturally the battery died.
I came home and charged the phone (plugged in the USB cable), left it for an hour or so and tried to turn it on. I got a "spinning" black and white wheel (which is actually frozen). Next comes the grey image of an empty battery which doesnt show charging (filling with green) even when the phone is plugged in. The home, back, etc. etc. buttons flash white for a moment and the phone turns off. Try again, same thing.
I thought maybe the USB wast connecting or charging so i took the battery out and charged it on an external charger which shows that it is full. Put it in, same thing.
Tried hard reset but cant complete it because samsung logo screen doesnt come on, only "empty battery" image.
Phone doesnt show up on my mac. etc. etc.
I am out of ideas...
btw no kind of water contact or dropping.
I really hope someone has another suggestion or can point me in the right direction.
Thanks for reading.
oops didnt read full post
Try going to att and use a charged battery there. Your battery may just be dead from over discharging.

thanks. i plugged it in and will let it sit for a while. i did try to turn it on as soon as i plugged it in and still saw the battery which didnt appear to be charging, but i know from previous experiance that when a phone is really dead the battery wont start it immediately even when plugged in.
thanks for the advice. my fingers are crossed
edit: ok. i'll try that also. if i can get away with just replacing the battery thats fine
this happened to me several times as well. My fix was easy.
Plug it in and forget about it for an hour. Unplug it, power it up, plug back in as soon as you see it start to boot. Should boot and charge.
I don't know why, but when its DEAD dead DEAD, it won't boot while its plugged in, nor will it show charging.
I hope that helps!

Thank you for the advice. I am happy to know someones dealt with this before and I am not the only one.
I just want to be sure. When you say that it starts to boot up, do you mean the samsung logo or the b/w wheel with empty (grey) battery image?
I tried to plug in the USB when the empty batt. was showing but it didnt seem to respond. Also I am wondering, when it finally connects do you still just let it charge or do you fully boot it up? Also does the battery show that it was keeping a charge from the first hour you left idle or does it only start to keep the charge after youve done this process?
Sorry for all the questions. This is just a bit for me....
update: OMG! just plugged it and instead of an empty batt. it was 90% green! phone still shut off again but i am very hopeful something is going on. I am going to keep messing around
update2: thank you so so much. This finally worked. saved me a considerable amount of money and untold grief. Basically I followed your directions in hyper mode. Power on, USB (in/out/in/out/in/out), phone shuts off, immediately power on again, etc., etc., until it worked.
Thank you.
FYI, a proper charger (instead of a PC's USB port) will cause the device to go into a higher-current charging mode that MIGHT have behaved better.
You can only charge your phone when its off on stock. Being in a rom it will reboot hence your frozen spinner and grey battery. Try it now that your battery is fully charged a d it will just reboot.

just had the same problem tonight, but when I pulled out the battery it had a fried electronics smell in the battery
Same thing happened to me driving home from Thanksgiving break. I've come to the conclusion that if you flash a non Samsung from then you have to have the infuse on to charge. Even with a dead battery I managed to get the infuse on, then immediately shut the screen off for about 30 sec before proceeding to quickly turn setcpu into power save mode before shutting screen off and leaving it off for a few hours. Should veeerryyy slowly but surely charge (stupid samsung ..... takes forever to charge and there are times when the battery goes down in heavy CPU apps or when on 4g, I noe its safer that way but its not like I'm going to have that phone for the next 5 years)

So glad I found this. My wife's "Infused" Infuse was "acting weird" according to her. Said there was a weird "DOS" like screen for a second, then the dead/grey battery logo. Take bat out and put back in. Nothing. Plug in and start up and it either goes from the Samsung logo to off, and repeat that, or show the Dead/Grey battery thing again. Well, tried the turn on while unplugged, and immediately plug in, and it started up. Even said the batt was 96% charged! Really confusing. So are there any other ROMs usable on this thing? Infused is OK, but man, just not nearly as good as my N1 running CM7.
Thanx again for the tip!

everything in development is.... obviously. Also, do make sure your read everything first lol it can really help you and other people at the end.
I got the infuse for me and the wife in early December. After the initial charge she used hers for about a day and half then tried to charge it.
Nada.
Tried different USB cables, swapped batteries. Turned out the USB port died. Talk about a PIA!!!
Best buy swapped it out no problem and let me keep all the stuff in the old box.

HELP!!!! Fixing battery charging problem

Hello,
I went out last Friday and came home late. My phone is out of battery and dead. I plugged it in and woke up the next day with a dead phone. Apparently, there is a bug with the OPO. If the battery is too low, it won't even charge after you plug it in for charging. I have tried all tricks and even contact the OPO Tech Support Team. This thread describes how horrible they are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/general/tech-support-onepluse-one-horrible-t3084022
I am at my wit's end. I have tried all the the tricks. This is a thread that I found that seems to have the same problem as I have.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/oneplusone-phone-dead-t3079256
The only choice I have left is to open the phone, disconnect the battery connection and reconnection it again. Hoping it will recharge. However, there is a warranty sticker and I don't want OPO to deny my warranty. I am not new to Android and I have fixed phones before. I also think of buying a new OPO battery and switch it with the factory one. Since the new battery will be charged, I think that will work in fixing it. But, doing that is much more complicate and it requires me to remove more components. If you have a good working solution for my problem, please help.
NOTE: please don't ask me to check my charger or use a different one. I check it 1000 times already. The original charger works, the cable works. I use different chargers and cables. Same result.
Thank you for your help.
Have you rooted and unlocked? I had the same problem when I got mine at first. It would show charging but never fully charge. 73% was all it would do. So after rooting and flashing a custom kernel the problem went away. Now I can go back to stock and the problem has never comeback. Maybe just a small software glitch or something. I'm just happy it's gone!

The phone is unlocked and rooted. The issue is not fully charged or not. The issue here is the phone does not charge after the battery die. The phone is dead because I let the battery run to 0. When I plug it to recharge, the low battery screen does not even come up. The phone is dead and refuse to recharge. There is no issue with the charger or the charging cable. I have checked it several time already. I am very frustrated with OPO Tech Support right now.
I see. Only other thing I can think of is try holding the power button for 60 seconds while it's plugged in. That does suck man.
I had similar issue, my conclusion is the bootloader charging function is broken.
Basically I would start the charging, it would charge for about 10 seconds or so, and then stop. I thought my battery was dead.
I couldnt boot the os as wasnt enough charge.
So eventually I just kept repeating the process, 10 seconds charge at a time, and eventually had enough juice to boot android and after that point it charged to full ok.
Never had this issue on any of my samsung phones.
Also to point out when it went dead it was plugged into my pc usb at the time with twrp loaded.

Battery completely dead or other hardware issue? [semi-resolved]

Hi All, my wifes s6 (using xtrestolite rom) has stopped taking a charge. Im trying to figure out what the issue is. Unfortunately im travelling for the next month so have limited trouble shooting options.
Background
- wife has been complaining that her phone battery dies quickly. I kind of dimissed her assuming it was in her head. she said it loses 10percent in standby mode in 1hr roughly. Shes been complaining about this for a week.
- yesterday at the airport her battery was at 12% and when we plugged it in to charge it wouldnt take a charge. Bolt icon did not come up and still said "connect charger" on the screen. Normally when connected the red Led comes on, but now it doesnt.
-our normal chsrging method is using and aukey 3port charger as fast charging mode.
Troubleshooting/diagnosis
- i have an s6 as well so i tested all the cables and chargers on my phone and it works. We even had the official samsung charger and cable but same issue.
- after the phone was completely dead, if you plug in the charging cable the charging bolt icon comes on for a few sec, the top left says "kernel is on seandroid enforcing" for a sec and then everything goes blank. Red charging led doesnt come on. So it seems like it detects the cable but wont charge enough to boot up.
- i was able to boot into twrp recovery but where its supposed to have a battery level its completely blank. Originally i was able to do this without any canles but then it wouldnt. My guess is that i orginally had a bit of juice and then it was completely dead.
-after leaving it plugged in for a sec, im able to turn it on where it boots and i can see it says 0% battery. It stays on for 5sec before turning off itself.
- i also tried plugging it into laptop, but laptop does not detect it. The phone does detect the power though and does the same as above but this time bolt charging icon stayes on for 1-2min before going off and seeing the "kernel is on seandroid icon". Once the seanadroid goes away nothing seems to happen. After doing this i was able to turn it on and it showed 1%. I thought this was promising but after trying this a few times ive never been able to get to 1percent again.
- with the brief charge thst i guess its getting, i was able to go i to twrp recovery and do a factory reset. This was with cable plugged in the whole time. Without cable in i dont think it would complete the action.
That about summarizes whats happened.
Ive concluded the following:
- charger and cables are ok and not the issue
- it is not the charging port since the phone does seem to be getting some juice bacause charging icon comes on for 2sec whenever cable is plugged in.
- its not a software/app issue since it wont charge even in recovery mode. Also factory reset was done and no luck.
My best guess is that the battery can only hold a 0-1% charge which is enough to register it being plugged in but not enough to do anything else. But if everything else is ok shouldnt it work when if the cable is just left in. This makes me think theres something else going on.
Any suggestions or theories would be much appreciated trying to decide if i should pay to get battery replaced.
Sorry for the long post. Figured it is best to give all info.
Thanks in advance!
Update June 3:
Hey everyone, just a correction on the above. It looks like it is able to charge in recovery (slowly). I realized that although there is no battery level during recovery, no charging led, and not booting up after being charged for a bit, maybe its just going slowly.
So i went into recovery and left it overnight on the non-fast charging and woke up after 8hrs and it was at 78percent!!!
Im not sure why it didnt go to 100% in 8hrs.
The phone still doesnt charge regularly when plugged in, so still need to fix that.
Do you guys think its a rom issue (only factory reset done before) ? I will see if i can get a rom for flashing.
Update 2:
Reflashed xtrestolite rom but still no luck. It wont charge.
Seems like a dead battery.

Bump.
Went to the phone store and they said its probably not the battery but the ic chip for charging? This will cost 150, but doesnt include the screen if they break it...
Does this make sense since i can charge in recovery.
Thanks. Any direction or input is much appreciated.
Go on the local store and change your battery (if isn't in warranty)
Hi all, just wanted to update the post that the issue is semi-fixed.
I brought it into a repair shop who offered to diagnose the problem for free before paying to replace the battery.
He told me there was nothing wrong with it and not sure what my issue was. Plugs in the charger and lo and behold it was charging. He said he didnt do anytning to it except blow some compressed air on the port.
Im guessing the comporessed air cleaned out a short? So now it charges properly.
The issue remaining is that the pc doesnt detect the phone. It shows as charging on the phone but no conmection. Tried to install the latest samung driver (1.5.4xxx?) but no luck. On occation sometimes it says "usb port has malfunctioned" but other times nothing.
My s6 does actually connect, so definitely my wife's s6 itself and not comp. Im tempted to buy some comlressed air and give it ankther blow, but dont want to risk messing it up again. im pretty happy that it at least charges up.
Hope this helps others that might have similar issue.
